rick warren on a new age guru list
Someone once said; "Rick Warren has done more good than all of the "discernment ministries combined.."
How could that be?...He's of the One World anti-Christ movement.....but..some people seem to cull from him. I will not.
"just added a message Rick Warren preached at the desiring God conference (John Piper's) to sermonindex.net
"I used to have a very bad view of Rick Warren but after spending some time following what he is saying and hearing his heart I realize I mis-judged him. He is not perfect but neither am I. I can learn much from Rick Warren." Sermonindex...[Greg]
So, I suppose you can judge for yourself, right here on SI. My advice however, is to avoid the subtle deceit altogether. Nothing good will come from his "ministry" but deception will, as I see it.
Rick now has a big enough following where he does not have to worry about other ministries exposing him. They will not do enough damage to injure his power or financial base. For every ministry that is exposing his false teachings there are 10 promoting them. The majority that are promoting him is enough for him to keep on thinking that he is correct.
Nevertheless, we are living in perilous times and my observations are that we do not really understand what Timothy was talking about when he was referring to "seducing spirits".
Again, I don't want to come across as "defending" Rick Warren (since I neither listen to the man nor read any of his books).
However, I will point out that it doesn't look like he has any affiliation with that group listed in this post's web link.
You need to be EXTREMELY accurate if you are going to publicly criticize the man. If you are going to say that he is trying to create a one-world religion, then you owe it to the purity of God to provide the SPECIFIC evidence (that is not made up of a bunch of dot-connecting conjectures).
Otherwise, there is a lack of specificity and a measure of ambiguity in the accusations being made by sincere believers. We should be above that.
Let's not forget that Muslims like Jesus. So, just because the new agers like Warren doesn't mean he's one with them.
Let's not forget that Muslims like Jesus.
They completely disfigure Jesus. Just like the Catholics.
This is what ignorant men do. If they do not deny him, they marr him beyond description.
Isaiah 52:14
14 Just as many were astonished at you,
So His visage was marred more than any man,
And His form more than the sons of men;
Thank God Jesus died also for those that marred him beyond description.
Yes, they completely disfigure Jesus. Which is exactly my point. Don't you think new agers might be picking and choosing what they like about Rick Warren too?
I have a friend that is an atheist. They like me, in spite of our fundamental differences. Does that mean anything about me?
What I have seen and heard of the man, he's no different than any other preacher out there. So, I suppose you can judge for yourself, right here on SI. My advice however, is to avoid the subtle deceit altogether. Nothing good will come from his "ministry" but deception will, as I see it.
We should be careful how we deal with this man, if God accepts him and we do not, and we find that he made it into heaven, what does that say about our ability to discern?
I would have to say that our discernment is in the loo.
They like me, in spite of our fundamental differences. Does that mean anything about me?
Maybe that you are a good charmer?
Or, you know how to get along with people of diverse opinions?
Or, that you are not obnoxious?
Or, that you are kind?
Or....?

Has anyone in this thread spent 5-10 minutes praying for rick warren?
Josef83,
Thank you very much for posting this. After listening to this you can see without a doubt that Rick Warren and the Catholic church are on the same page.
Richard Bennett is one of my favorites when it comes to exposing The Emerging Church movement and it's deceptions along with other contemporary error.
Don't expect it to be easy to take a stand for the Word of God, today.
Has anyone in this thread spent 5-10 minutes praying for rick warren?
I make it a point to pray not only for men like Warren, Osteen and the list of "emergent" teachers... but also for those who are following these men down a spiritually destructive path.

Word.
Why was Paul innocent from the blood of all men?; because he declared the whole counsel of God..that there is only one way to the Father...through his Son alone.
Inclusion of any other religions or gods, or unholy permissive ways is death. There is much documentation of Warren's Ecumenicalism [ that God is glorified in many religions or social activities], and inclusive faith.
ACTS 20
"Therefore I testify to you this day that I am innocent of the blood of all men.
27 For I have not shunned to declare to you the whole counsel of God.
28 Therefore take heed to yourselves and to all the flock, among which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers, to shepherd the church of God which He purchased with His own blood.
29 For I know this, that after my departure savage wolves will come in among you, not sparing the flock.
30 Also from among yourselves men will rise up, speaking perverse things, to draw away the disciples after themselves.
31 Therefore watch, and remember that for three years I did not cease to warn everyone night and day with tears.".........................................
Paul was not inclined to pray for the wolves, but to mark them and expose them for the church to avoid. He called this "shepherding" the flock, by virtue of warning..He did, however, pray and lay his life down for God's people, who were inclined to listen to, and follow the wolves.
Hi Tom...
Again, I do not want to be accused of "defending" Rick Warren, his views, his beliefs or anything similar. However, I do think that we need to be both CLEAR and SPECIFIC if we are going to levy such specific allegations.
There is much documentation of Warren's Ecumenicalism [ that God is glorified in many religions or social activities], and inclusive faith.
Do you have specific examples that do not include "connecting the dots" type of conjectures? This would include specific writings, specific statements and views in their proper context. If you choose to gather such information, did you find it yourself or did you depend upon the research and efforts of others?
This is extremely important. If we are going to publicly scrutinize some man and call him a "wolf" in a public forum viewed by believers and nonbelievers alike, then we need to be carefully specific with our allegations.
I have researched many of the allegations about Rick Warren. I even read through some of the comments that were supposedly attributed to him (some falsely) and even contacted his ministry. I was told explicitly that Rick Warren is an evangelical believer and does NOT support some "one world religion" or "ecumenical" goal. After all, there is a difference between a dialog and alignment.
Now, I have seen several unsubstantiated allegations and accusations about the man. Sometimes, people have attempted to substantiate their accusations with a series of dot-connected conjectures derived from supposed "sources" that often go unscrutinized for their validity. Some of those sources are merely conspiracy theory websites that quote people who quote Rick Warren (hearsay).
If we are going to say that Rick Warren believes "such-and-such," then we need to CLEARLY provide evidence (two or three sources) that would establish such an accusation. If we are going to say that Rick Warren is a false prophet, it isn't enough to merely say what we think he believes...or that he is a wolf...or that he teaches heresy. We need to give specific examples (in context) about what he teaches or proclaims and why it is wrong.
After all, we are children of God. We should make sure that everything we say is entirely true. If we endeavor to make an issue of exposing those who are false (or those who we think are false), then we need to do it properly.
I did see that he attended a Muslim confrence once, and was asked to speak at it. If he is such a "Godly" man then why would a Muslim confrence invite him to speak? Normally, darkness is very opposed to light.
Here's a link to the story from a newspaper.
(Note this paper is not Christian so it will not look at the matter in the proper light.)
http://www.examiner.com/muslim-in-baltimore/evangelist-christian-pastor-rick-warren-speaks-at-main-session-of-muslim-conference
Perhaps instead of asking us...or offering conjecture...maybe you should contact his ministry and ask him why he attended (and what he said when he was there)?
"Dr. Warren said that Muslims and Christians need to get beyond interfaith dialogue and join together for "interfaith projects."
He stressed that working together does not mean that participants need to compromise their convictions. Muslims and Christians can "walk hand and hand and not see eye to eye" and be "unified without uniformity."
"For many decievers are entered into the world. . .Whatsoever transgresseth, and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ, hath not God. He that abideth in the doctrine of Christ, he hath both the Father and teh Son. If there come any unto you and bring not this doctrine, revieve him not into your house, neither bid him God speed; For he that biddeth him God speed is partaker of his evil deeds" - 2 John 7, 9-11
To "walk hand in hand and not see eye to eye" is a denial of this Scripture. Islam is a great decieving religion, and denies the doctrine of Christ. All I am simply saying, is that Dr. Warren is greatly in the wrong for saying such a thing and needs to spend more time perhaps seeking God's face.
Here's another quote I found.
“There’s a man of peace in every village, in every government, in every business, in every church. ... When you find the man of peace, if he’s open and he’s willing to work with you, you bless him and you start your work there. ... The man of peace is open and influential. ... The man of peace does not have to be a Christian believer. Could be a Muslim. Could be Jewish” (Warren interview with Charlie Rose, Aug. 17, 2006). (Speaking of Matthew and Luke 10 when the apostles were sent out to preach.
Why does this bother people? Are we not commanded to live with all men peaceably? Should we always be contentious with our nieghbour? He stressed that working together does not mean that participants need to compromise their convictions. Muslims and Christians can "walk hand and hand and not see eye to eye" and be "unified without uniformity."
Romans 12:18 If it be possible, as much as lieth in you, live peaceably with all men.
Hebrews 12:14 Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord:
Yes it does indeed say to live peaceably, but to work together in the sense of being missionaries? Would you endorse a Muslim missionary? Why would you want to let him spread lies? I do not question the good intentions of Rick Warren, but his methods need some revising.
I would not endorse a Muslim Missionary, but how do we deal with a Muslim Missionary? How would Christ speak to this man? How would Paul speak to this man?
Lets say he is our nieghbour and he has already made it clear that he is not interested in the gospel. How shall we get along?
I think it would be through our God given goodness. Being good to him, heaping coals of fire on his head. I think I would love him too, because it's by the goodness of God that leadeth men unto repentance.
I think this is the mindset of Rick Warren. There is no sense in cursing the Muslim. Lets all try to get along. We all know when the rubber meets the road that if that time comes when we have to pull away from that unification because it's now infringing on our faith, we'll have to with all reluctance to do so. I say reluctance because no wants to be enemies willingly.
Here's another quote I found.
I have to ask WHERE you found this...and why.
Did you find it at one of those "watchman" websites that are all about discrediting ministers and doctrines that the people who own those sites feel are incorrect? Are you LOOKING for such damaging information for a predetermined reason?
First of all, not every "interview" is accurate. Someone claimed a quote previously here at SermonIndex regarding Rick Warren. When I looked up that exact quote via Google, it only linked to conspiracy theory websites that utter conspiracies and rumors. I included one link of the statement in an email to the Church where Warren serves, and the response was that they had never seen the quote before.
Still, even if a quote is credible, we need to look in its exact context. Otherwise, we are guilty of what off-the-wall sects and radical groups do with the Gospel -- by cutting and pasting together "quotes" from the Word of God for a predetermined end.
Again, I am not "defending" Rick Warren. I am simply stating that IF we are going to entertain such accusations or spread them -- then we need to get it right and do so as accurately as possible. It is not enough to quote what others have "found" and list in books, magazines or conspiracy "watchmen" websites.
I still don't know why people get so bent out of shape by Rick Warren! Most of the people who spread such information don't listen to him, read his books or personally know many people who do. Yet they search the world over to convert others to their opinion! There are just so many other things to concern ourselves with! We can spend our time proclaiming TRUTH and not spend our years trying to strain out every LIE (or perceived lie)
Is Rick Warren saved? I HAVE NO IDEA!
However, I think that it is a stretch to "read between the lines" of circumstantial evidence that others have presented us and deduce that he wants a "one world religion" or is a "false prophet." So far, I see a guy who -- according to other examples of his writings -- believes that Jesus Christ is the only way to heaven.
Rick Warren might take his "let's all stop killing one another in the name of religious faith" a bit too far. However, even good Christians have a tendency of trying to expose those with whom they disagree on the smallest matters and declaring them to be "heretics." I am not talking allegations of "one world religion" -- but Christians will point the finger of heresy at others over issues as silly as whether we believe pre-trib or post-trib!
Still, there just seems to be better uses for the limited amount of time that God has given us here on the Earth. Doctrinal witch hunts seem to be ill-conducive ways of "redeeming the time for the days are evil."
I would suggest, however, that if you have a cause against Rick Warren, that you make every effort to make certain that you are ENTIRELY CORRECT -- including researching firsthand sources for yourself (and not relying on the research of others) AND contacting the man himself. Who knows? If the guy is truly in a fault, you may be used of God to "restore him gently."
Here's where I found the quote.
And I was mainly looking on insight into Rick Warren by reading his words without spending a bunch of money buying his books. So I figured he might reveal what he believes through interiviews.
Please keep in mind that I do not agree with everything on this site. I mainly use it for the anti-easy-believist bent of it.

Again, I do not agree with everything on this site. If this is where you found it then okay, I understand how some people can be a little over-opinionated on some things.
I'm done with my "witch hunt" hope you find what you want to know about him.
God richly bless you.
Paul the Apostle said that he was concerned that as Eve was deceived by the serpent that some have departed from the simplicity that is in Christ.

40 Days of Purpose? Rubbish! Avoid the “40 Days of Purpose” error and learn your purpose as a Christian in less than 1 minute. Wouldn't you like to save 39 days, 23 hours and 59 minutes? Help others avoid 40 Days of Time Wasting Nonsense by sharing this free mini message with as many people as you can.
I am going to learn the 40 days of purpose in January.
I am going to learn the 40 days of purpose in January.
Why? To rub it in some peoples' faces here, or to prove a point? Or is it because you feel that Rick Warrens 40 days of purpose is really Spirit inspired, even though you've said you don't know much about the guy or his teaching in recent times past?
Just curious.
LOLWhy? To rub it in some peoples' faces here, or to prove a point?
Not at all Brother. I plan to do a 40 day fast in January, I plan to learn and know as to what purpose the Lord has put on my heart to do this. I am looking forward to it.
I am purpose driven. :-)

That is probably the best advice given in this whole thread.I am going to pray that God blesses Rick Warren
Not at all Brother. I plan to do a 40 day fast in January, I plan to learn and know as to what purpose the Lord has put on my heart to do this. I am looking forward to it.
Ahh. Something REALLY purpose driven. I gotcha. I did that once. Get ready man, for whatever that entails.
Matthew 7
Judging Others
1 “Do not judge, or you too will be judged. 2 For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.
3 “Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother’s eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye? 4 How can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ when all the time there is a plank in your own eye? 5 You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother’s eye.
6 “Do not give dogs what is sacred; do not throw your pearls to pigs. If you do, they may trample them under their feet, and turn and tear you to pieces.
Ask, Seek, Knock
7 “Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. 8 For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.
9 “Which of you, if your son asks for bread, will give him a stone? 10 Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a snake? 11 If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him! 12 So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you, for this sums up the Law and the Prophets.
The Narrow and Wide Gates
13 “Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. 14 But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.
True and False Prophets
15 “Watch out for false prophets. They come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ferocious wolves. 16 By their fruit you will recognize them. Do people pick grapes from thornbushes, or figs from thistles? 17 Likewise, every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit. 18 A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, and a bad tree cannot bear good fruit. 19 Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. 20 Thus, by their fruit you will recognize them.
True and False Disciples
21 “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. 22 Many will say to me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name and in your name drive out demons and in your name perform many miracles?’ 23 Then I will tell them plainly, ‘I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!’
Proverbs 17:15 (King James Version) 15He that justifieth the wicked, and he that condemneth the just, even they both are abomination to the LORD.
