I'm needing help from pray-ers.

I don't know how or where to begin but I'm feeling that I could use even more folks praying with me for my dear dad. I don't know if my faith level has dropped, to feel that I need to yell out for more people to please pray with me, but I just feel this overwhelming sorrow - or something like it today for him.

He's 92 and I moved here for him. He's got more energy than I do and is on No medications at all. Perfectly healthy BUT, he's still 92. Will be 93 this yr.

Anyhow, he just moved here a yr ago himself and he had to leave behind his 89 y.o. Sweetheart, who used to live diagonally across the hall from him, from where he lived for 7 yrs. They were both lively and traveled a lot and all until she took ill with a bad heart valve.

To make it as short as possible... he's driven down to see her, sometimes twice a month - a two hour drive.

This time, on March 15th, he brought her back here with him.
She woke up on the day he was to bring her back on the 17th, unable to breath.

From the ER, they took her to ICU and now she's in a Rehab place up here and Dad is there most of the day and after leaving there, running errands for her. Sigh!
He looks so tired but he's always been a very determined-driven man. I don't know how he can keep going at this pace.

Neither of them are Saved.

My mind is so very consumed with worry about him, even before this major event happened. There's nothing I can do to help him, except to make a meal for whenever he gets home. I thank GOD that he lives only in the building next door to me, but other than meals, he won't let me help him. Very independent man. That's both good and bad, for him and for me.

Please, if you could think to keep them in prayer. I don't know what will happen to him neither, if she leaves this earth.

I know - I'm a worry-wort and that's a lack of faith - but when it comes to folks that you know and love - (and in my case, Dad's #1) - it's rather difficult. Quite!
Thank GOD for good things to read online or I probably would have shriveled up from worry by now. Embarrassing to admit, but I can barely think of anything else.

'Thank you' sincerely - from my heart,
Your sister Worry-wort

I "get it" - I'm the VERY CONCERNED mom of prodigals. I too, have an 86 y/o Mom with Alzheimers who is not saved. It can be all-consuming. I can pray from my heart for you. Try (I am not wanting to sound trite) to leave them to Him who loves them far more than we do (easy to say - much harder to do)....Please feel our love and prayers. It is not weakness or lack of faith to admit that you need prayer....

Dearest Sister,

First of all, I would not say you are a worry wart but a loving daughter who cares deeply for her Dad and is very concerned. I am glad you asked for prayer here.

Also, thanking God for your love and consistent prayers for your dad and lady friend. God has heard your prayers. Glory to God. And we join in in agreement with you. I will continue to pray. He is so faithful as you know.

Blessing & God's love dear sister.

Feeling a whole lot of gratitude, finding your posts of prayers and your words of understanding.

The LORD Bless you all increasingly with His Joy, by His Great Love.

Very Grateful!

Praying. . . It seems many of us have unsaved loved ones, yes, it is painful but I thank Jesus for even that pain. If I were not saved, I would still feel pain for their aging and passing but it would not be the same pain, of the two pains, I choose this one. Odd, to be thinking of choosing pain but there you have it.

Your father sounds like a good friend and I am sure he is a blessing to his lady friend.

Keep us posted,

JiG,

I read your post, I sense your heart-felt concern for your dad (and mom?).

The probability of people as old as these to come to the LORD is practically nil according to the stats.

Let me tell you a story....

In four days it will be four years that dad died. The trauma this brought on my family was anything but pleasant. Mom always had been a very religious person but a very angry and unforgiving one, filled with lots of spite and theses qualities were more empowered by dad's passing. We children cannot reminisce about dad without her informing us how stupid dad was....and he was a well respected man in the church and community.

Since then my brother experienced something we never dreamed would happen: his wife left him and filed for divorce. The children are caught in between. This situation has tore mom up like you would not believe. Her baby!

I have seen her soften and become kind, considerate, thinking more about others then her latest complaint about whoever or whatever. How well does she know God? She speaks the language still, but there has been a softening...

And people would have said she is too old to change. But that does not factor in God who will use events to bring about a redemption.

I said this to encourage you to not give up. Just do not assume responsibility that is not yours: Concentrate on being God's faithful daughter and see where it will take you...

God bless and trust he will yet redeem these two for himself.

Love and prayers,
ginnyrose

Thank you both, ginnyrose and mama. I appreciate all that you've written. I do know that He moved me here for such a time as this. My brother, the only one I was able to grow up with, for at least 12 yrs, lives in this town as well.
Back where I lived, I couldn't get through the sentence when I'd raise my hand at Church for prayer for my family without breaking. I didn't intend to cry and didn't think I would when I raised my hand - but whenever I'd ask for prayer for my family - mainly Dad and my 3 dear brothers, pow, there'd be the tears and it was embarrassing.
I never ever thought that I'd be living up here in the same town with Dad and one of my brothers. That's a Miracle.

Anyway, I was going to post here today, as we're on the last of Dad's extremely tiring care-giving of his friend.

It's been so unbelievably exhausting for me as well. Even if I distract and don't think about him consciously - I know my mind's always worried or 'tuned in' to how he's trying to hold up.

Her son wanted her out of the Nursing Home up here and to be back in her apartment. So Dad took her home Thursday. That same two hour drive. Tomorrow she'll see her own Dr. and GOD only knows if they'll let her remain in her apartment or try to send her to Assisted Living.
I spoke to them tonight and Dad sounds exhausted and she sounds confused.

Dad's supposed to drive home tomorrow. This has gone on since March 15th - so if he makes it home tomorrow - it will be the first time that he can rest since then. So you know I'm pulling for him in spirit that he'll make it home and sure do Thank you for your prayers.
This relationship with her is and has been for yrs now, too much for him and I strongly have felt that the enemy would love to take his life before he can get saved.

He and my brothers are 'good' and kind people - but of course you know - they need Jesus.

Thank you all again and again. Nothing on earth means anything to me but these guy's salvation.
Amen and Bless you all!!

M

Thank you for the update, JiG...I can relate so well - nothing on earth matters so much as their salvation. And yes - it is terribly exhausting....Will keep praying!!

Well, first off, I'd like to Thank you all for your prayers combined with the prayers of other Saint-Friends.

I can't Thank GOD enough. It's a total miracle that Dad made it home today and in, I'd say, Miraculous shape, considering all he's gone through these last so many weeks.

I didn't see him because he needed time to unpack and unwind and read his mail, etc. etc. and I figured he would the night before - so I merely pushed his mail under his door the night before with his mailbox key.
GOD IS SO GOOD!!! I'm smiling with such gratitude that my heart is about busting.
When I called the second time to check on him, he was in great spirits as he had just watched his Yankee game.
Haaa funniest thing about him and his team. The world could go to war and as long as that game is on - he would probably care less and wait until he knew which team would win. :o) What a guy!

Now my prayer request is going to need to switch somewhat to me. I've been battling with this health issue I'm so-far stuck with and it's peaked. Really peaked.
I have what they call a NeuroEndocrineImmune disease and all I can say is - all of those systems are on overload.
I plan to do what's necessary to get recovered as quickly as possible to the maintainable level in order to be here for Dad and whatever else I'm here for.
Spring is coming and there's 214 Units here of Seniors.
During the winter months, they're basically not as out and about as in the warmer months, and I like to be with them, as they congregate more so in the warmer seasons.
Last year was a wonderful time of witnessing and I'm praying for that same opportunity again this year and all the more so. Amen!

Would just appreciate prayers for better health for me and already can't thank you all enough for the prayers for Dad's health through this very trying time. I'm so Happy about his GOD given stamina. I Know it was our LORD of Mercy who sustained him in a miraculous way - Amen! :)

All my Love to my Family here and Gratefulness for all of your prayers.
By His Grace Alone, and we Praise Him for it.

GOD Bless!!

Praise God! May He continue to sustain you, and touch your dad in whatever way He needs to, resulting in salvation. It is all a mystery, but Lord, PLEASE hear our prayers on behalf of this dear man! God bless you, JiG!

Hello JiG,

and how is your health now?

Shalom,

:) Shalom to you as well dear Browny. Have wanted to ask you the same this weekend, but life has been a bit busy and ask your forgiveness.

Dad is doing physically fantastic. Amazing man. He's taken the two hour drive to visit his friend again from where he used to live. Once or twice a month, he drives down there effortlessly. Amazing at his age. Truly! Will be 93 this year. The others who live here cannot fathom this man's age compared to what they are able to do - some being 20 yrs younger than him.
He is softening slowly but surely to the GOODNESS of GOD.
I do believe that in his case that it will be "the Goodness of GOD that leads to his repentence" or his seeing his need for it - being that he's a "very good man" in the world's eyes and most others think he already is "one of those born-again people"... quote others. :)
Jesus is GOOD, and GOD.

Yes, I've gotten through the stress of worrying about him during his friend's time here in the hospital. I was just telling my daughter today about how what I feared for him, made me sick - worrying about Dad getting "worn down" - wore me out, but Dad came through that experience of daily visits to her for weeks, without a sign of tiredness at all. Hoy!
We laughed how I worried about him being worried about her, and how he came through it all with flying colors and I'm the one who empathized myself into burn-out. :o)
Empathy is good but can be also be a kicker.
HE uses all things to learn even the more about FAITH!

Gotta give our loved ones to HIM and LEAVE them there. Amen!

Bless you for asking and caring and praying.

Now how about you? Any updates? Looking forward to hearing how you are.

Thank you Sister!!!

:) Thank you Brother Mike. Bless you!

All I can say about this disease is that the enemy meant it for bad but GOD has used it for Good. HE's slapped the devil right in his head and later on, He'll finish him off by stepping on his head, plus worse. Bless GOD Almighty!

As far as an article in Yankee magazine some yrs back and other research sources - the "disease" is from a bio-research lab off the coast of Connecticut - where I lived.
It's vector born and with me - I did not get the bulls-eye-rash and I was infected multiple times over a period of years - not diagnosed until it had done it's damage.... but GOD :) in His Infinite Wisdom, used it to put me in a place where He can communicate with the former busy person that I was .... you may know what I mean since your experience of late. HE IS GOOD!

GOD knows, I've prayed for so many others and HE healed them - so I trust Him with All of my heart - that He knows exactly when and how to heal me as well.

Multiple Blessings to you for your care as well, Brother.
Thank you!
