I would like to remind readers and posters of something basic which should affect our perspective (if we have forgotten, or, not considered this).
Hebrews 1:7
And of the angels he saith, Who MAKETH his angels spirits, and his ministers a flame of fire.
Hebrews 1:6 And again, when he bringeth in the firstbegotten into the world, he saith, And let all the angels of God worship him.
1 Peter 1:12 Unto whom [prophets] it was revealed, that not unto themselves, but unto us they did minister the things, which are now reported unto you by them that have preached the gospel unto you with the Holy Ghost sent down from heaven; which things THE ANGELS DESIRE TO LOOK INTO.
Luke 15:10 Likewise, I say unto you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner that repenteth. (Note: the angels are watching God rejoice.)
But, fallen angels do not dwell in heaven with God any more. In the garden, God cursed the serpent saying:
Because thou hast done this, thou [art] cursed above all cattle, and above every beast of the field; upon thy belly shalt thou go, and DUST SHALT THOU EAT ALL the days of thy life: 15 And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed;... (the verse goes on).
Here we have a connection between the appetite given by God to the serpent when He cursed him, and, our flesh:
Genesis 2:7 And the LORD God formed man [of] the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.
Regarding the sin of not acknowledging God as Creator, and therefore worthy of worship, Paul writes:
Romans 1:18 For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness;
19 Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath shewed [it] unto them.
20 For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, [even] his eternal power and Godhead;
so that they are without excuse:
21 Because that, WHEN THEY KNEW GOD, they glorified [him] not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened.
22 Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools, 23 And changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and fourfooted beasts, and creeping things.'
Paul is talking about people who don't acknowledge the revelation of God in creation, who worship created beings or things, rather than God. 24 Wherefore -
God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves: 25 Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen.
(It should be noted that there are many and lengthier descriptions of sinful behaviour in the Old Testament.)
After describing briefly, how far men and women can fall into sin, listing a group of mindsets and behaviours associated with homo-erotic sins, he rounds on anyone who sins in any way at all with two questions:
Romans 2:3 And thinkest thou this, O man, that judgest them which do such things, and doest the same, that thou shalt escape the judgment of God? 4 Or despisest thou the riches of his goodness and forbearance and longsuffering; not knowing that the goodness of God leadeth thee to repentance?
Note the power differentials spiritually, and what happens when men deny God His place in order to concentrate on feeling fleshly lusts, in Romans 1, stirred up by outside influences, initially. Once people are worshipping objects, they are worshipping devils (1 Cor 10:20).
God MADE angels.
Some angels were thrown out of heaven for following Lucifer after his rebellion.
These angels are no longer party to what is happening in heaven. In fact, they are very limited spiritually speaking.
The problem is, humans are even more limited in power and knowledge.
Ezekiel 28:3 Behold, thou [art] wiser than Daniel;
there is no secret that they can hide from thee:
So, how does God fix this lack of power for the BELIEVER? He gives us of the Holy Spirit. HIS Spirit. And, He takes charge of what is revealed to the believer both for the believer's salvation, and his ministry. Both are needed.
No believer is ever going to 'see' everything that God sees. Praise Him for that! But God does see everything, and His is intent on bringing the whole man into the good of salvation.
The word 'redeem' means to buy back. Then - He restores my soul (Psa 23).
With regard to the individual Christian life, soul restoration what's being discussed here - the on-going work of delivering from all evil that ever has beset a life, of whatever origin.
In some lives, the glory of God is seen mainly in that work of restoration, rather than in the outworking of a ministry such as preaching or evangelism. But every believer has a legitimate place in the body of Christ.
1 Corinthians 12
22 Nay, much more those members of the body, which seem to be more feeble, are necessary: 23 And those [members] of the body, which we think to be less honourable, upon these we bestow more abundant honour; and our uncomely [parts] have more abundant comeliness.
24 For our comely [parts] have no need: but God hath tempered the body together, having given more abundant honour to that [part] which lacked: 25 That there should be no schism in the body; but [that] the members should have the same care one for another.
In Christ Himself, the Spirit and flesh became perfectly one, free from all corruption.
Since we are starting at the other end of the spectrum encompassed by His being, and since we will never BECOME GOD - in fact He saves us to make us perfectly MAN - obedient and walking in God-ordained relationship with Him - then deliverance (if it is required) and healing (if it is required) is limited to the needs of the individual.
A preacher once said, 'you can skim a cupful off the top of the well of salvation, or you can run your bucket to the bottom of it.' (Psa 116, Isa 12) The well IS deep. (John 4).
Again, let it be said that demons thrive in three realms - sin, self, the flesh.
It is clear from the New Testament that mortification of the flesh is an on-going process - putting off the old man, and putting on the new man.
It is also clear there are many Christians who have never heard or understood Romans 6:6 and don't sit under preaching which suggests they should be striving for victory over the sin in their lives.
For many, it is a very short decade or two between being introduced to certain sins as a child, whether to commit them or be victims of them, and becoming an adult with baggage.
No-one who is posting about deliverance here, is advocating that Christians continue in sin. The axe HAS BEEN laid to the root of THE TREE (of the knowledge of good and evil), yet, the knowledge of good and evil itself must be dealt with appropriately at a spiritual level on the earth - the land of the person's life.
