Youcef Nadarkhani is Head of a Non-Trinitarian cult

M
MichaelLiao

I felt a burden to post this because my pastor who is Iranian, his son has background information about Youcef Nadarkhani being one of the leaders of a growing cult in Iran that promotes a works-based salvation and is infecting much of the Church in Iran. The reason for this post is that many evangelicals in the west assume that Nadarkhani is being persecuted for his faith in Christ. Now of course this should not discourage us from praying for Nadarkhani, yet we must be aware of our brothers in Iran who are suffering under a Unitarian teaching and a works-based salvation. Here are the links:

Here is the anti-Trinitarian Oneness Position as defined by its main exponent, the United Pentecostal Church:

"There is one God, who has revealed Himself as our Father, in His Son Jesus Christ, and as the Holy Spirit. Jesus Christ is God manifested in flesh. He is both God and man. (See Deuteronomy 6:4; Ephesians 4:4-6; Colossians 2:9; I Timothy 3:16.)"

The Trinitarian Truth is that God is Three-in-One, whereas the Oneness heretics say that God is One-in-Three. If you didn't know any better, you would think both parties are saying the same thing in different ways. That is what makes the Oneness Heresy so pernicious: it sounds exactly like the orthodox position and is therefore beyond the detection of anyone but the most acute heresy-sniffer.

I will pray for Nadarkhani, not that he will be released from prison or spared execution, but that he will reconstruct his doctrinal formulations to align with American Fundamentalism before it is too late!

M

Hey PrimaDogma,

That's real subtle, the doctrine sounds almost the same. Yeah, my church has a lot of Iranians, so I just thought maybe they might have some updates on Youcef Nadarkhani, I was shocked when I heard he was one of the heads of a growing cult in Iran.

Brother Michael, believing that Youcef is the ‘head of a growing cult’ is religious DOGMA and purely subjective according to whatever church you attend.

How happy the devil must be now that he has turned Christian against each other especially a Christian in bondage but I guess its ok since you did add, “Of course this shouldn’t discourage us from praying for him.” If he’s a leader of a cult, my question is why bother praying? Why pray if he’s doomed for hell according to Trinitarians?

I wonder how many of our prayers are nonsensical and wasted trying to get God to make other people to live the way “we think” they should live. (Wasted days and wasted nights)

God bless you brother,

Hi Michael,

The link that you gave ended the piece with this...

"New evangelicalism and Pentecostal theology is the major factor of the problems, as these groups tend to be Pentecostal in their theology and use similar language and practice the Pentecostal gifts."

Well brother, I guess I am part of some loose cult then. I am pentecostal in theology, I guess that means not being a cessasionist, and I have the gift of tongues........ brother Frank

Thank you brother Frank for reading the article. I only listened to about a minute of the video before shutting it off but after you posted, I went to the article which was written by a supposed fellow believer.

In these end times, the Pentecostal believers may not have to worry about the anti-christ; it sounds like the non-Pentecostal's will be the ones to rat out their fellow believers. Pitiful.

Lysa,

I used to think that Oneness Pentecostals believed the same gospel that Trinitarians believe; but then I went to a Oneness Pentecostal church and witnessed their Christianity. It grieved me a lot to say the least.

It's easy to believe that there is only an insignificant difference between the two because, like PrimaDogma said, the doctrine sounds almost the same. But in order to deny the Trinity, you have to consciously deny and/or twist MANY verses in the Bible. Moreover, the difference in doctrine does not lie only in the doctrine of the Trinity but also in the doctrine of salvation, spiritual gifts, baptism etc. Also note that Oneness believers DO NOT believe Trinitarians to be Christians.

Now I don't know this man, but I would not be so fast as to defend anyone that denies the Trinity.

Lastly, I have read a few of your posts. I think this debate between Trinitarians and "Oneness" believers may interest you. It gets a little loud, but it's interesting to see how little scripture "Oneness" people have to back up their beliefs. Please do let me know if you watch it.

*I use "Oneness" because I heard this term a lot from an Apostolic acquaintance.

Michael, I want to begin this by saying that I myself am a believer in the Trinity doctrine; however, if you notice, Youcef said that he is not a "Jesus only" believer, but simply a believer in one God. I am acquainted with a person who believes like Youcef, and this man does not deny the Father, Son, or Holy Ghost, but he's not a "three in one" believer. This man is a very Godly man and strong believer in the Word of God. So to jump to conclusions with the information that with have right now and say that Youcef is a leader of a cult is not a right thing to do in my opinion. A man may not understand the Trinity, but believe the true Gospel and believe that there is a Father, Son, and Holy Ghost and be a born again believer. None of us completely understand the Trinity, but we try to as well as we can. Some simply don't believe the "three in one" but believe that God expresses and reveals Himself in three ways. Others, like me, believe in three Persons in One (Jesus being the image of the invisible God). But to say that a group who believes in either one of those is a cult doesn't seem right to me.

D
Dlight

Anamosa41,
I understand your concern completely, and this is the exact same way I thought when I first encountered the Oneness gospel. But please consider my previous post.

The difference in doctrine sounds VERY subtle on the surface, but if you did more research on the issue, you will find even bigger, irreconcilable differences.

Imagine watching a 30-second clip of a Jehovah's Witness or Mormon on the doctrine of God. They'll say they believe in one God, the Almighty God; Jehovah. If they did not mention their denomination, you would quickly agree that this is the very God you believe in. It's the same with this group. You have only watched a short video. Please consider that there is doctrine in the Oneness gospel that you may not know of.
Oneness Pentecostals, as do Mormons and Jehovah's witnesses, consider themselves to be distinct from other Christians, and the only true believers of Christ. The very people you are defending do not consider you to be a brother.

I have fellowshipped, albeit for a short period of time, with the Oneness Pentecostal Church; and in my humble opinion, their gospel is a false one.

I am a Pentecostal believer who believes in the trinity. Most of the pentecostals that I know personally and men like David Wilkerson and Carter Conlon are Pentecostal trinity belivers. I wonder how much it would have mattered to the writer if this man was merely Pentecostal. I would guess not a lot. Loss, I actually believe that's exactly what will happen in the last days ......... Dlight,

I am absolutely sure that there are many things that I would disagree with in the Oneness gospel and doctrine. I don't know if Youcef believes in the things that you have mentioned, but I do know that my friend that mentioned in my previous post is not part of the Oneness denomination and definitely does believe that believers in the Trinity are brothers and sisters in Christ. In fact, he used to be a preacher in the Church of God denomination (much like Assembly of God), but left because of worldliness creeping in I think. He is now in a community church that used to be Church of God but changed, I believe, due to the same reason. So, some people can definitely believe the true Gospel but not believe in the same doctrine of the Trinity that we do and still accept the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost as he does. As for Youcef, I do not know if he believes that way or not.

D
Dlight

appolus, I smiled when I read your post. :)

Pentecostal is different from "Pentecostal Oneness". "Pentecostal Oneness" is a group apart from Christian denominations. They do not even identify with Pentecostals. I encourage you to do your own research. I too had never heard of this group until I encountered it personally.

By the way, Carter Colon and David Wilkerson are men of God. They are Pentecostal, not "Pentecostal Oneness" believers. The difference is big.

Anyway, I'm removing myself from this thread shortly. I try to stay on the sermon side of this website, as the forum debates get a little overwhelming sometimes.

Here is an article from Present Truth Ministries that may help us understand more of what Youcef does believe. Here is what it says:

My sources have reported that a person has been paid by the Islamic government of Iran to state that Pastor Youssef is a Jesus Only pentecostal. In Iran this is a forbidden sect. Pastor Youssef believes the bible and stands for the truth that there is one God who has fully revealed himself through his only begotten Son Jesus Christ. He does not believe in the trinity nor does he believe in the oneness doctrine. He believes in a middle, biblical ground. He is an independent Christian that is not associated with an organization or denomination, just with believers in Christ.
A lawyer will soon be working to gain his release. Please continue to pray for his safety.

Dear Brethren who have responded to this post,

Just to clarify some misconceptions, I have nothing against Pentecostals, in fact I love Pastor Wilkerson and Conlon. I myself also have the gift of tongues and it happened without anyone laying hands on me. I guess it was unfortunate how Mohabat News (Iranian Christian News Agency) worded the article that way, as I have observed that Mohabat and Parsaweb seem to be Reformed in their theology.

What is concerning is the fact that it's not the Pentecostal teachings that are of Wilkerson, Conlon, Clendennen, Wigglesworth etc. It's ONENESS Pentecostalism, where it advocates the doctrinal error of modalism. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NdOkUk3SB30 - Can You Be Saved and Deny the Trinity? - Tim Conway) In other words, modalism is saying that God was first the Father in the Old Testament, and then became the Son on earth, and when ascended became the Holy Spirit, when the fact is all three appeared at Jesus' baptism. Modalism is like God putting on three different masks (According to http://illbehonest.com/biblical-gospel - if you want more information).

Secondly, the articles posted on this post were also aimed at the revealing baptismal regeneration in the Oneness Pentecostal teaching is required for salvation (works-based) and it is affecting the church in Iran negatively.

I'm not denying any gifts of the Spirit on this post, I'm just advocating that we should pray for our brethren in Iran who may be affected by a works-based salvation teaching. I only got this information from my pastor's son and since there are many churches in North America who are misinformed about this situation, I thought it would be good to bring this up on SI so that we will be properly informed and know what to pray for exactly. I do apologize for the misconceptions that might have sprung up, but it was not my intent for it by the grace of God.

They -with less than 200 members inside Iran- greatly admire and follow the teachings of an American preacher, William M. Branham, who claimed to be the last of God's prophets on earth, that the doctrine of the Trinity is from the devil, and only those who are baptised in Jesus' name are saved."

LOLOLOLOL. Is that it?

Dear Heavens.

If God is so against these people, why is it that He gives them the Holy Spirit?

And so what if they don't believe in the Trinity, I don't either.

Where does it say anywhere that you have to believe in the Trinity to be saved?

What they do believe is that all the fullness of the Godhead is in Christ Jesus, even God said, "This is my beloved in Son in whom I am well pleased, HEAR YE HIM".

"Looking unto Jesus the author and the finisher of our faith". Sounds like God to me.

"I AM alpha and omega the beginning and the end". Sounds like God to me.

"Whom do you seek, we seek Jesus of Nazareth and Jesus said unto them, I AM". Sounds like God to me.

There is not enough evidence to conclude that this Pastor is doing anything wrong. However, what I have heard lately is that he won't recant Jesus Christ.

Whatever this man believes, I admire his faith and courage to endure what he is enduring right now. When he stands before God it won't be what doctrines he has under his belt, but what he did with his faith, so far, his testimony is more shinier than ours.

If this man were a Muslim being tortured and threatened with death by a bunch of self-proclaimed christians or just the government of where he lived - I wouldn't pray any differently for "mercy" as I've prayed for this man, and the millions of others around the world being tortured and/or killed for only their beliefs - regardless of what they are.

WHAT does what anyone believe have anything to do with us praying for "anyone" that is being tortured and threatened with death because of their beliefs alone?

HI Daphne,

I know about the pentcostal oneness movement :) I mentioned the names of Wilkerson and Conlon as examples of people who are not of the one-ness persausion but who are Pentecostal. My point is that there are so many factions in Christianity who cannot abide pentecostal people, period, because of their " pentecostalism." In my last post I was trying to agree with lisa from my android phone and it came out differently. Do I belive what this man believes in regard to the trinity? No. Do I believe that he is a brother in Christ, I have nothing to suggest otherwise, certainly not simply because he is of the oneness persausion. Just to be clear, I know many who believe that regular pentecostals are of the devil, oneness or otherwise. If cessasionist really believe what they say they believe, then how do they account for tongues? Would they be so bold as to say that this gift is not of God but of the devil? Anyway, I pray to the Lord that this brother in Iran glorifies God, however God chooses.............brother Frank

My sentiments exactly!!! Praise God, the Lord showed me that years ago when I worked with a oneness couple and found out they received the baptism of the Holy Spirit as well; the husband was a preacher and I told him, "If God gave you the Holy Spirit and the gifts and He gave me the Holy Spirit and the gifts, then we can't be that far off, can we?" With all due respect Approved, yes you must believe in the Trinity. (http://youtube.com/watch?v=NdOkUk3SB30 - Can You Be Saved and Deny the Trinity? - Tim Conway) [A Video on Oneness Pentecostalism]

Secondly, if a person is advocating a works-based (false) gospel that is affecting the Church in Iran in a negative way, then Galatians 1:8 says, "But even if we or angel from heaven should preach to you a gospel contrary to the one we preached to you, let him be accursed." (http://youtube.com/watch?v=fVHu3z30K1Y) Yes, any man can die for their faith. It is possible for even a Muslim to die for their own faith, yet it is a wrong faith indeed. Mr. Nadarkhani may say he is not recanting his faith in Christ, but is it the Christ of the Bible?

You are joking right?! How many denominations in America advocate a works-based gospel (that a affect the church in a negative way)? A whole LOT of them! That is exactly what legalism is a works-based (false) gospel.

And how do you even know that this is what Youcef preached? Again, my friend, your information is skewed if you do not gain it by first hand information and obviously you have not; I don't care how many Iranian people you go to church with. The works based gospel is not the same as those depicted in Galatians, they are definitely around but not in the case of these people. I know for a fact that the Oneness Pentecostals (being a former one myself) know that the message is grace through faith. What they expect from you AFTER you are saved is that you gird up the loins of your mind and walk straight. Once you repent and are baptized in Jesus name (which is biblical) they also expect that you should receive the gift of the Holy Spirit with the same as they had on the day of Pentecost (which is biblical too). There is a dress code but not everyone follows it. In this day and age, we need a dress code as both men and women believers don't know how to dress. And being in Iran, they have to be extra careful.

It's commanded that we love one another and take care of one another. If that isn't works, I don't know what is.

It's my recommendation is that we say nothing more about these people, lest we speak against God in respect of these people.

God Bless my brother in Iran who is standing for the name of Jesus Christ even when his life is in peril right now.

FWIW I am with you on this. You are bang on.

Denial of the trinity (which is first hand out of his mouth) puts him in the same category as a JW, Mormon, and Muslim.

The gate is narrow indeed, it is through the person of Jesus Christ as revealed in the Bible. There is much talk about a narrow gate here, but to most that simply means doing and saying the right things, very little has anything to do with believing right things about self and Christ.

I noticed in the video, they showed a Catholic Mass to relate a message of "trinitarians".

The speaker in the back-ground sounded Chinese.

This same man, Nadarkhani had also been accused of rape and extortion previously on that same website.

If people do not understand that 'disinformation reigns' in 98% of news medias, even those that 'claim' to be "Christian", then I'd advise some discernment levels be raised. This "news" about this man is coming from 'What Sources'? Do you truly know?

But the main point is - I'll be honest here, some of you sound like the Crusaders and also sound as if you are not concerned with what happens to this man ... only about whatever disinfo-media-Inc claims.

Don't you know that even as far back as the Clinton Admin that even "Fundamentalist Evangelicals" were labeled as suspicious by Janet Reno and that pamphlets were distributed to Law Enforcement Agencies - even within this last year or so stating about the same.

When we side against "Fundamentalists" - who are we siding with?

When we go into more effort to condemn a man that has been held prisoner for almost 3 yrs for "What?" and are more concerned with his "possible" views on the 'Fundamental' belief of the Trinity, rather than anyone on earth being held for their "thought crimes" against any government - I can see more and more Jesus' prophecy that they'll drag you into their Assemblies and put you to death for what you believe.

WE should be praying and speaking up for ANYONE that is being held for "thought crimes only".

It has been reported that this man has been tortured.

Does Jesus care?

The reason that China, North Korea and the countries can imprison, torture and kill ANYONE for "thought crimes alone" is because "Christians" have not defended "the innocent" - not even their own.

The number of "Christians" that are even involved for praying actively for their own Brothers and Sisters in Christ that are being persecuted world wide is a very small number in the free-world and it WILL come back on them.

Even the O.T. condemns those that do nothing for the 'innocent' that are in any trouble at all - regardless of their beliefs.

I suppose you all are those that have not protested "TORTURE" as well.

I can suppose if you all can suppose so much and not see that the 'thought crime' bill has been recently passed in this country as well.

How did that saying go?

"They came for the ________ and I did nothing" - They came for the ______________ and I did nothing" - They came for the __________ and I did nothing" and then they came for me and no one was left to help or pray for me."

Has your lifestyle been so superior, Michael and others, that you can condemn anyone?

What is the difference between "sin in one's life" and "not having perfect beliefs" ?

Jesus said that the 'religious' will be the greatest murderers of others in the last days.

Does any here also approve of the attacks on others for their religious beliefs that we've seen in Burma and elsewhere?

I've never heard so many 'Christians' shouting "Kill them." - "Nuke 'em." -- and - "Yes, torture is good." as I've heard in this last decade.

Is 'that' The Spirit of Christ speaking through "Christians"?

Makes me sick. Talk about self-righteous.
Or even the name calling of "legalists" or Bible woshippers --- the silence alone over those suffering for 'thought crimes alone' is deafening in Heaven, I do believe.

Slurs even against what some 'think' is following the Bible and not the Spirit has been a wake-up call to those who follow both - and those that claim to follow the Spirit are still quiet on all of these cases around the world?

The Self-Righteous are not those that are trying to follow the N.T. as best as they can because they love Him.
The Self-Righteous [as we see in Jesus' days on earth] are those that stand on their holier-than-thou-soapbox and damn others to the point of being willing to allow the governments to 'torture and crucify' those that they see as less themselves.

I will only say the words of Christ:

John 17: 20 - 23 “I do not pray for these alone, but also for those who will believe in Me through their word; that THEY ALL MAY BE ONE, as You, Father, are in Me, and I in You; that THEY ALSO MAY BE ONE IN US, that THE WORLD MAY BELIEVE THAT YOU SENT ME. And the glory which You gave Me I have given them, that THEY MAY BE ONE JUST AS WE ARE ONE: I in them, and You in Me; that they may be made perfect in one, and that the world may know that You have sent Me, and have loved them as You have loved Me.

Matthew 5:43 – 48
“But I say to you, LOVE YOUR ENEMIES, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and PRAY FOR THOSE who spitefully use you and persecute you, THAT YOU MAY BE SONS OF YOUR FATHER IN HEAVEN; for He makes His sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust. For if you love those who love you, what reward have you? Do not even the tax collectors do the same? And if you greet your brethren only, what do you do more than others? Do not even the tax collectors do so? Therefore you shall be perfect, just as your Father in heaven is perfect.”

THIS MUST STOP!!!! This brother is standing firm in Christ and needs our prayers. He does not need our condemnation. Are any of you in prison for 3 years, tortured, beaten, denied access to a Bible, and still standing for Jesus? You who have accused this brother. Have you read any of his letters he sent out of prison? Go back and read those letters and come back on this thread and say that Youcef Nadarkhani is not a follower of the Lamb.

Have any of you heard of Shabbaz Bhatti? He was the minister of minority affairs in Pakistan. Be was a Christian. Be was violently gunned down by Islamic extremist for his stand for Christ. Oh did I mention he was a Catholic? Has anyone heard of Asia Bibi? She is the young peasant mother who gave a bold testimony for Jesus Christ. She will probably be execited for her faith. Oh did I mention she is a Catholic? Yet I am sure some would say they will suffer eternal damnation despite their stand for Jesus.

It is so easy to sit in the freedom of this country and judge those who are standing for Christ. But until you walk in their shoes please don't judge them and show some mercy. For one day you may be in their place.

Pretty serious statement, are you sure about that?

Every Christian knows or should know the true name of the man that died for their redemption, more than 60% of Christians don’t know this simple fact, and those that know don’t care, they say it doesn’t matter.

The man that died for our sins was a Yahdaim, a Hebrew man, so was all twelve of his disciples.

They had never heard the name Jesus Christ before, so they were not Christians, who were they?
what faith did they practice? What did they call themselves? The Apostle Khepha (Peter; they changed his name too) had a congregation that he ministered to; so did The Apostle Shaul (Paul) So where is the lost faith of the Apostles?

The point I’m trying to make is this, If the early translators changed the names of the Savior and the apostles, under whose authority was that done? What else did they change? What were they trying to hide? After all aren’t we all just following doctrines that has been passed down from generation to generation?

Be it Trinitarian or Sonship theory, we inherited these theories, so it’s possible that we’re all wrong.

Brother, from what I have heard Youcef is not denying Christ, he believes the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost is One God as we do, but that they are not three Persons. That is not a damnable heresy and nor is it in line with Jehovah's Witness. I think we should be very careful with what we say about our brother who is behind bars for Christ, and about each other.

If you have ever read Richard Wurmbrand's books - you'd understand why some of us may not judge in the same way.
He was in prison with men of different denominations and even priests. He watched them go to their death because they could not deny Christ Jesus.
When people are being persecuted to that degree - the truth of what's truly in their heart, comes out - just as the many that were persecuted and killed through-out the thousands of yrs since He rose.
Persecution squeezes out all of the non-essentials and all that they're left with is either themselves or the true Jesus - despite what they were unable to wrap their heads around accurately during their lifespan.

S

It is disheartening that the persecuted are ignored and we can't take a few minutes to pray for them. But now we have gone to the next step to question the loyalty of those who suffer for Christ because they have not crossed every theological T and dotted every theological I. I say to you, you have too much time on your hands. You boast in the doctrine you hold but do you have the courage to live out that doctrine. James tells us to be doers of the wotd not just the hearers. The fact that Youcef Nardakhani or Asia Bibi are suffering for Christ should be enough to prove they have the right doctrine. That is the doctrine of what is in the heart. The scriptures tell us that God is looking for those hearts who are loyal to him. Not that hold to correct theolog. You might want to take a look at the end of Mat. 25 about the sheep and goats to see what I am talking about. No where is Jesus judging on correct theology. But rather have we followed the command of loving our neighbor. This flows out of a heart love for Jesus. This heart may be Catholic or Protestant, charismatic or Calvinistic. But first anf formost the heart will love Jesus.

I lead a con call where we pray for the persecuted, those who suffer for Christ. We pray for Catholics, Coptics, Jewish and Arab Christians, evangelicals, etc. To the best of my knowledge the Holy Spirit makes no distinctions in the theogy of those who suffer for Christ and neither should we. So stop judging this brother and pray for him and others like him who are persecuted for their faith in Christ.

I apologize for judging this pastor immediately. Really, it was not him I was judging but the Oneness denomination. I am very opinionated about the Oneness gospel because I worshiped with a Oneness Pentecostal church for a bit and I only had negative experiences, especially with regard to the doctrine of salvation. For example, even if I had been saved for some years and had assurance of salvation, I was told that I was definitely not saved because I did not speak in tongues.

Yes, I encourage everyone to pray for this man, and anyone that may be suffering.

However, unlike martyr, I would like to humbly submit that not every 'Christian' that suffers is suffering for Christ. Suffering in itself is not a sign that one's cause is noble. Even Muslims, Buddhists, Pharisees, occultists etc are persecuted and suffer for their faiths; yet it is not Christ for whom they suffer. The ONLY way the Bible teaches to know a believer is by their fruit, and not their suffering.

Anyone can suffer for a belief or opinion that others do not agree with, whether it be religious or not.(NOTE: I am ONLY mentioning this because of the comment about suffering that precedes mine. Not because I think Youcef's suffering is not of Christ)

Again, my sincere apologies.

Best,
Daphne.

"For example, even if I had been saved for some years and had assurance of salvation, I was told that I was definitely not saved because I did not speak in tongues."

There are extreme Oneness Pentecostal Churches within the movement. Unfortunately, you were the victim of one of them. I was too. But the Oneness Pentecostal Church that I grew up in wasn't like that at all. When I went into the city, I met up with a group of them that were extreme and that is when I too was told that I wasn't saved unless I spoke in tongues. I was new to all this extra stuff, all I knew was Jesus Christ and Him crucified. So it frightened me that I might have overlooked something in my walk with the Lord. Well in the course of time I started attending a Oneness Pentecostal Church that wasn't extreme, I was filled with the holy Spirit and I did speak in tongues. Years after that experience I learned that the Lord wanted me to receive the gift, but you see the devil works through religion, it's his covering and when you have people that are religious like that it's as if they are sent to discourage you. Well, it did discourage me, but not to the place of denying the whole thing, I went forward wanting it because I wanted all what God had for me and what was written in the New Testament, leaving no stone unturned.

Lee Rankel: re: "our conversations", that you brought up first - Do you deny that you wrote to me last year, that you couldn't think of a man here that you could call "Brother"?

I believe the word used was "consider" not call. To "call people brother as many here do ends up being nothing but foolish flattery, and is very different than "considering" people to be brethren. Here I can not "consider" any to be brothers. Those who are brothers (or sisters for that matter) one can share things with that come from the depths of the heart, without them being vomitted back into your face (That is why I don't bring up things from private conversations). As you can see, that just can't be done here, you need to have an actual brother or sister for that. None to worry though, the Lord let me know this day was coming when I wrote it, so no surprise.

Next Prov 17:15 teaches that to call one a brother when they are not makes one just as much an an abomination before the Lord as it is to go the other way. There is no way on earth that I will refer to someone who either first or second hand denies the essential nature of Christ, His person or His work, as a brother or sister.

Another thing I have learned over the years, the only ones that are ever offended at having their salvation questioned are those who don't have it. The ones who make the most noise about it are the furthest from Christ.

Now do tell us YOUR real full name.

Lee, This has been a part of your profile for as long as I've known you.

Please go back to the second to last page of the "women teaching" thread and see what your opener was to me.

I do know that I'm accepted in The Beloved - my replies to you since last year have all been based upon your judgments of others.
The post in that 'women' thread, where you said that you couldn't call me sister, certainly was no surprise at all.

There's another thread somewhere from way back that lists all of the N.T. Commandments to 'Love' and that's where you didn't agree with me last year and we had to stop communicating, because you turn on people that don't agree with you.

I welcomed you when you began to post again just within this last month - hoping to see that love and a change in your judging everyone's salvation.
Will keep praying for these things for you because, not being able to "consider" this amount of people to be Brethren is dangerous for you alone.
I do love you and do see so much good on your website, as I've told you before. I don't stop loving anyone just because I disagree with them or because they may disagree with me. And judging salvation is the scariest thing in the world, and should be to us. Only if there is no fruit at all - as in a life of continuous heavy duty sin, should we question the person to their face, with hopes that they'll shake themselves straight.
Judge not lest you be judged is also a very heavy verse, from the eyes of Him Who has purchased them, called them His Own and knows their hearts, completely.

Praying that the Love of Christ will overwhelm you.

As I have read through this thread I find many of you have a gross ignorance of the persecuted church. Save for Jesus_is_God and one or two others, very few of you even know what is happening in Iran. If you went to the web sites of Open Doors or Voice of the Martyrs or Christians in Crisis this thread would not even exist.

For crying out loud saints educate yourselves on the persecuted church before you judge it. Read Compass Direct or Forum 18 News. Become kingdom oriented.. Then maybe some of this insanity will stop.

By the way it is pretty arrogant to suggest that Youcef needs to be in line with American fundamentals. I suggest our walk needs to be in line with his. For sure the persecuted have more to teach us then we them. The question is do we have the have the humility to sit at their feet and learn.

Back at you:

“For crying out loud” Martyr, educate yourself on the person of Christ, He is just a ‘wee’ a bit more important than any of us. When the Holy Spirit reveals Christ to a person He reveals Him as the eternal Son of God, co-equal and co-eternal with the Father, ANY other is a fraud. You are OK with the person of the Son of God being trampled on, but dare anyone trample a reputation of some man that denies that which the Holy Spirit teaches a child of God, and you have a bird. It just backs up your allegiance to “justification by pain and suffering” rather than “justification by faith in the Son of God”.

Anyone willing to take the time Google letters from Youcef Nadarkhani and read what this brother wrote. Then come back on this thread and say this man is not a believer and a follower of the Lamb. If I remember correctly Greg's wife Brandy copied one of his letters into a thread here. The letter was written from prison. No one, No one called into question this brothers stand for Christ then. So why is this being done now? Why is this brother being condemned?

I would ask somebody to please post his letters into this thread. I do not know how. Then maybe we can see what is really in this brother. But then maybe that may not be a good idea. For we will pick his letter apart. The sad thing is the Iranians don't need to kill him. We are doing a good job of that in this forum.

Dear Brethren,

I remember one time my brother James (illbehonest.com) told me about people in history who were burned at the stakes, yet they were not even regenerate though they call themselves Christians. You can be a martyr all you want. You can be persecuted and have all sorts of titles. You can have all the faith in the world, yet if you have not Christ, the true Christ, and His love, you are nothing. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Id4v0FFC9hA) It's not about how much you've suffered or how much you've done or how well you've performed, but it's simply Christ, who is the ultimate fulfillment of God's eternal plan and purpose. What matters is, are you a lover of Christ because of the unconditional love of God that has been revealed to you at the Cross of Christ? And if any man were to preach baptismal regeneration or any other thing that advocates a "Jesus Plus _________" theology, then it nullifies the absolute grace, love, and mercy of God. Let God be true and every man a liar -Romans 3:4. You may say that "Oh, a works based salvation is also affecting America too..." But Iran is different, that though the Christian population is rising in Iran, the community is still small and their theology is not that fully developed yet (a theology that is centred on the Person of Christ and not works). Therefore it is a concern that if a works-based theology is
growing in Iran, it does have the potential to sweep through the Iranian Christian Community very quickly and can be detrimental to the spreading of the Gospel of Christ. Lastly, that theology does have potential to have our Iranian brothers and sisters fall from grace. God help them and us all.

In Christ's Name,

HI Michael,

I have been watching this thread go from bad to worse. Let me see if I can bring some balance, perhaps not. There are a lot of grey lines being crossed by different posters, apples being mixed with oranges so to speak. I agree with some of your sentiments Michael but when I read what you write it makes me think that you think you can be saved by giving the correct answer to the top five theological questions. Theology does not save, neither does correct doctrine. Jesus saves. If correct theology and sound doctrine saved, then I would never have gotton saved because I was just a rotton old sinner who knew nothing of the Bible, could not have quoted you one vesre when I got saved. After i got saved I had an insatiable appetite for the Word and the Holy Spirit is leading and guiding me into all truth. He does this with all His children. So, to sum up, salvation comes through the person of Jesus. ( I advise you to read The Cost of Discipleship by Bonhoeffer, especially the firt three chapters.)

Now, can a man give his body to be burned yet not have the love of Christ in his heart? Of course, that is what 1Cor 13 teaches us. Have men from all over the world been willing to die for various casues? Why of course they have, it would be silly to say otherwise. Have Catholics died for the Catholicism in times gone past, yes of course they have, they died for their Catholicism. By mere virtue of being a Catholic and having a willingness to die for Catholicism does that mean your saved? Of course not, any more than being Southern Baptist and being willing to die for the Southern Baptist cause would make you saved. Once again, its in the person of Jesus that we are saved, and one is either saved or they are not. No church can give us salvation. No acts can cause us to be saved, save the acts of Jesus on calvary. The man in Iran either knows Jesus or he does not. The fact that he may not yet have a perfect doctrine or that he may be in a certain stage of sanctification has no bearing on his salvation. He is either saved or he is not. There is nothing to suggest to me that he is not saved. If all you have brother, is that he has in imperfect doctrine, then surely you see that your on dangerous ground by saying this brother is not saved. As for Catholics who have given their lives for the Catholic church, who would refuse to give up their Catholicism under pain of death ( many staunch Catholics I know would never give up their Catholicism and would rather die) this does not mean one is saved. One is saved by the person of Jesus and nothing else..........brother Frank

Where are the hearts full of love, the words of peace spoken to eachother?
Words and hearts full of blessing?

Dear brothers and sisters, saints, love, pray, bless! be full of love to anybody! even for those who have another level, way of seeing things in scripture. Have mercy and compassion. Do repent from NOT PRAYING for this dear brother, who is suffering for Christ Jesus. Who is taking a brave stand for his faith. I pray that whenever I have to face such a storm of persecution in my life, I will have the strenght to stand like brother Youcef and sister Bibi. Jesus says

Matthew 10:32
"Whosoever therefore shall confess me before men, him will I confess also before my Father which is in heaven."

Do not close your heart for anybody exept the enemy, the father of hate and the old deceiver.
This morning I had wonderful letter in my mailbox. Let me share it here with you.... starting as follows....

BROTHERLY LOVE

"As we see in Hebrews chapter twelve, once we “keep our eyes fixed on Jesus,” we will be aware of how we should then live. The writer now turns to the issue of brotherly love and he uses the verb form of repeated action. Keep on loving, over and over. Jesus Himself said that this would be the sign to the world of true discipleship—love for one another."

The early Church wasn't trinitarian so I think Youcef is in good hands.

There is One God who is Father, and Jesus Christ who is the image of the Father called Son. The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of Jesus and the Father in union with the believer. It's like a man and his wife, they were two but as married, they are one, one flesh.

That is how God revealed Himself to me in this fashion. I saw Jesus standing there before me, couldn't see His face but there He was. He said, "I want you to meet the Father". And I looked toward the throne and there stood a dark figure that did not openly reveal Himself willingly. He was mysterious and wonderful. He stood afar off and enclosed in dark clouds. I thought, "why is He so distant". The more I tried to see the Father the more darkness came in. The answer didn't come right away. He was distant because His Christ is the outshining of His glory. If I was to know Him I had to know Jesus. If I wanted to know the Father I needed to know Jesus Christ. There was no other persons there. There was just God and His Son in perfect oneness.

Now look folks, I love you, but don't take my words and call me a heretic because I don't believe in the Trinity, nor do I believe in the Oneness at least the way the UPC's teach it. But I do believe in a oneness per say, a union that shows the mirror image of two becoming one flesh between a man and wife. I have many trinitarian brethren and we all get along great, why? Because we all believe that Jesus Christ is our God. Amen?

God Bless

Brother, I see you mention roman catholics dying for the faith and that is what VOM teaches too, that the roman catholic church is a valid expression of the Church of Jesus Christ and that catholics are our brethren in Christ. My non-offensive question is this - where do you draw line. Would you send money to support persecuted mormons? If a man worships a small statue that he has written the name "jesus" on and is killed for it would he be a martyr?

I say all this to illustrate that we all draw the line somewhere. As a former roman catholic now saved by the blood of Jesus Christ I believe that catholicism is outside the bounds with mormonism. My comment has nothing to do with the pastor in iran who may seal his testimony in blood to the praise of Jesus. I do not think we should jump all over a small blurb about his belief in the godhead.

Thank you for posting this link. This should settle the matter once and for all. Youcef Nadarkhani is a Christian who is suffering for Jesus. This brother, and I call him brother, has been in jail, tortured, brainwashed, and denied access to a Bible. Several weeks ago this man was offered his freedom if he would recant his faith in Christ. For the unteeth time he refused. This brother may very well be executed for his faith in Jesus.

I woukd only hope that I would have the sane courage this brother has to stand for Christ under similar circumstances. May his testimony have an impact for the kingdom of Christ.

Brother you draw the line at the cross. Those who fix their eyes on Jesus and suffer for him and die for him are martyrs, true witnesses of him. A Mormon or JW or any other cult member know nothing of death camps of N. Korea, shipping containers in Eritrea, or prisons in China. I say that because they have never had an experience with the rising Christ. Those who have had such an experience with Jesus are willing to go all the way and lay their lives down for him. The idea of denying Jesus would be unthinkable to them.

I am not aware that Voice of the Martyrs regards the Catholic Church as an expression of those who die for the faith. From the accounts I have read any who are persecuted are for their individual faith in Christ. I don't remember saying Catholics die for their faith. I have said that Asia Bibi has taken a stand for Christ and she has suffered for it. She is of Catholic background. But her stand is for Jesus.

There are those who see only Jesus. Not the name of the church. These are the ones who are his true witnesses. These are the ones who are slain for the wotd of God and the testimony they had maintained.

Trecker, I would beg that you continue in prayer for Brother Yoseff. Just because someone posts something doesn't make it true.

It breaks my heart to see that one who has been tortured, separated from his family, two small boys, in prison for over 2 years would have someone bring this up. I am sure the Lord will appreciate our sincere prayers for him and not this kind of garbage.

How do we know what he thinks now? How can you hold him where he may have been? Dont you think he has grown in His relationship with the Lord under these trials he has been in for two years? Do you ever grow in your understanding of God? Who here has it all down perfect? Not one. We are all growing in grace and in knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ. At least I pray no one thinks they are so smart they have it all perfect. Take heed lest you fall if that be the case.

Let me see. Okay, your in prison for believing Jesus and wont recant, your being tortured, your family is being threatened and someone posts a post that is seen around the world that your theology is not as correct as yours and it causes people to doubt you and even to stop praying for you. Hmmmm. Let's put things on the other foot for a change.

I can love the sinner, the backslidden, the prodigal, the one struggling but the ones who brings up things like this post about Brother Yousef really gets my blood boiling.

You do more harm than good. Shame on you and you need to examine your heart and repent. I really pray you do so you will stop hurting and begin having more of God's heart.

The people who hurt God's people are the ones who call themselves Christians. We can go into a Church and the people there are so cold to the new ones walking in they dont want to come back. We do more harm thinking we are right than we know or be the love of Christ.

I pray the moderators would lock this thread.

I pray that the one who posted this has already repented. But please dont let this keep coming up for all the world to see. We are working around the globe for this Brother. Jesus Name is being lifted up in very high places around the world. God is using this man for His glory.

A letter from Pastor Nadarkhani, written from Lakan Prison in Rasht, June 2, 2010:

Dear brothers and sisters, Salam

In the Name of our Lord Jesus Christ, I am continuously seeking grace and mercy to you, that you remember me and those who are bearing efforts for his name in your prayers.

Your loyalty to God is the cause of my strength and encouragement.

For I know well that you will be rewarded; as it’s stated: blessed is the one who has faith, for what has been said to him by God, will be carried out.

As we believe, heaven and earth will fade but his word will still remain.

Dear beloved ones, I would like to take this opportunity to remind you of a few verses, although you might know them, So that in everything, you give more effort than the past, both to prove your election, and for the sake of Gospel that is to be preached to the entire world as well.

I know that not all of us are granted to keep this word, but to those who are granted this power and this revelation, I announce the same as Jude, earnestly contend for the faith that was once delivered to the saints.

We are passing by special and sensitive days. They are days that for an alert and awake believer can be days of spiritual growth and progress. Because for him, more than any other time there is the possibility to compare his faith with the word of God, have God’s promises in mind, and survey his faith.

Therefore he (the true believer) does not need to wonder for the fiery trial that has been set on for him as though it were something unusual, but it pleases him to participate in Christ’s suffering.

Because the believer knows he will rejoice in his glory.

Dears, the “ judgment must begin at the house of God: and if it first begin at us, what shall the end be of them that obey not the gospel of God? And if the righteous scarcely be saved, where shall the ungodly and the sinner appear?”

Therefore those who are enduring burdens by the will of God, commit their souls to the faithful Creator. Promises that he has given us, are unique and precious. As we’ve heard he has said: “Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness’ sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you”

How can it be possible for a believer to understand these words?

Not only when he is focusing on Jesus Christ with adapting his life according to the life Jesus lived when he was on earth? As it is said ” O fools, and slow of heart to believe all that the prophets have spoken: Ought not Christ to have suffered these things, and to enter into his glory? And it is easier for heaven and earth to pass, than one tittle of the law to fail.”

Have we not read and heard: Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it. Many attempt to flee from their spiritual tests, and they have to face those same tests in a more difficult manner, because no one will be victorious by escaping from them, but with patience and humility he will be able to overcome all the tests, and gain victory.

Therefore in the place of Christ’s followers, we must not feel desperate, but we have to pray to God in supplication with more passion to help us with any assistance we may need.

According to what Paul has said: In every temptation, God himself will make a way for us to tolerate it.

O beloved ones, difficulties do not weaken mankind, but they reveal the true human nature.

It will be good for us to occasionally face persecutions and abnormalities, since these abnormalities will persuade us to search our hearts, and to survey ourselves.

So as a result, we conclude that troubles are difficult, but usually good and useful to build us.

Dear brothers and sisters, we must be more careful than any other time.

Because in these days, the hearts and thoughts of many are revealed, so that the faith is tested.

May your treasure be where there is no moth and rust.

I would like to remind you of some verses that we nearly discuss everyday, (Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.) but as long as our human will has priority over God’s will, his will will not be done.

As we have learned from him in Gethsemane, he surrendered his will to the father, “My Father, if it is possible, may this cup be taken from me. Yet not as I will, but as you will.”

What we are bearing today, is a difficult but not unbearable situation, because neither he has tested us more than our faith and our endurance, nor does he do as such. And as we have known from before, we must beware not to fail, but to advance in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, And consider these bumps and prisons as opportunities to testify to his name. He said: If anyone is ashamed of me and my words, the Son of Man will be ashamed of him when he comes in his glory and in the glory of the Father and of the holy angels.

As a small servant, necessarily in prison to carry out what I must do, I say with faith in the word of God that he will come soon.”However, when the Son of Man comes, will he find faith on the earth?”

Discipline yourself with faith in the word of God. Retain your souls with patience. For there is no man that doeth anything in secret, and he himself seeketh to be known openly.

May you are granted grace and blessings increasingly in the name of Lord Jesus Christ.

Brother Youcef was imprisoned for his faith in Jesus Christ. He was tortured for over a thousan days and several times asked to renounce his faith in Jesus. Each time he refused. His faith was in the Lord Jesus Christ. His faith was in a person. His faith was not in a theological doctrine.

The persecuted in restricted nations are committed to the Person of Jesus Christ. They may not be able to articulate the finer points of theological doctrine. But when it comes to laying down tbeir lives for the Lamb of God who was sacrificed to for them. They are willing to do so.

Brother Youcef still needs are prayers as he is still in danger of assassination. Please continue to keep him in your prayers. Please keep the church in Iran in your prayers as the gospel is growing. Voice of the Martyrs estimates over a 700 to a 1000 people a day come to Christ through the internet, Sat TV, dreams and visions, and so forth. Many are finding saving faith and life in Jesus.

Also please remember those still imprisoned for their faith in Jesus. Not only in Persia, hut also in other restricted rations around the world. For these brothers and sisters have much to teach us as persecution increases in our own nation.
