"Let me encourage everyone who might be weak in your mind and your filled with condemnation because of this verse of scripture because you willfully sinned a sin because you had to or whatever it might be, and you know within yourself that it's not right just the same, however, your not damned "
Jim again:
I am not sure why you built and defeated a straw man argument like that. No one claimed that verse was talking about one willful sin and I took extra care to expound it?? I have never in my life heard someone claim that so what are you really railing against??
The word of God is clear that continued, willful, unrepentant sinners will not inherit the kingdom. True saints may fall as jimp has said many times here... but they will not stay down and die in their sin because they are born of the will of God and not the will of man. Let me caution those who would read this thread and take comfort in false assurance that they will not inherit the kingdom of God if they live and die in such a state. Not because they didn't try enough, but because they were not born again as evident by the fruit in their lives. Nobody is talking about committing one sin, or some doctrine of sinless perfection - just practical sanctification.
Look at how many times the apostles have to warn and encourage the church about this issue "DO NOT BE DECEIVED".
1 John 3:4 Whoever commits sin also commits lawlessness, and sin is lawlessness. And you know that He was manifested to take away our sins, and in Him there is no sin. Whoever abides in Him does not sin. Whoever sins has neither seen Him nor known Him. Little children, let no one deceive you. He who practices righteousness is righteous, just as He is righteous. He who sins is of the devil, for the devil has sinned from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that He might destroy the works of the devil. Whoever has been born of God does not sin, for His seed remains in him; and he cannot sin, because he has been born of God. In this the children of God and the children of the devil are manifest: Whoever does not practice righteousness is not of God, nor is he who does not love his brother.
1 Corinthians 6:9 Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals nor sodomites, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit the kingdom of God. And such were some of you. But you were washed, but you were sanctified, but you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus and by the Spirit of our God.
Ephesians 5:3 But fornication and all uncleanness or covetousness, let it not even be named among you, as is fitting for saints; neither filthiness, nor foolish talking, nor coarse jesting, which are not fitting, but rather giving of thanks. For this you know, that no fornicator, unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater, has any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and God. Let no one deceive you with empty words, for because of these things the wrath of God comes upon the sons of disobedience. Therefore do not be partakers with them.
Galatians 5:19 Now the works of the flesh are evident, which are: adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lewdness, idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, dissensions, heresies, envy, murders, drunkenness, revelries, and the like; of which I tell you beforehand, just as I also told you in time past, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.
From the Matthew Henry Commentary on 1 Corinthians 6:
All unrighteousness is sin; all reigning sin, nay, every actual sin, committed with design, and not repented of, shuts out of the kingdom of heaven. Be not deceived. Men are very much inclined to flatter themselves that they may live in sin, yet die in Christ, and go to heaven. But we cannot hope to sow to the flesh, and reap everlasting life. They are reminded what a change the gospel and grace of God had made in them. The blood of Christ, and the washing of regeneration, can take away all guilt. Our justification is owing to the suffering and merit of Christ; our sanctification to the working of the Holy Spirit; but both go together. All who are made righteous in the sight of God, are made holy by the grace of God.
The word of God testifies to this when it says:
Titus 2:11 For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men, teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly in the present age, looking for the blessed hope and glorious appearing of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ, who gave Himself for us, that He might redeem us from every lawless deed and purify for Himself His own special people, zealous for good works. Speak these things, exhort, and rebuke with all authority. Let no one despise you.
So to say it again, the blood of Jesus does not pardon willful, unrepentant, continual sin. Do not be deceived, but do not fret either - there is victory and cleansing in the blood fo Jesus. He saves on His own merits - but he also sanctifies on his own merits. Sanctification may not work out the same in everyones life but the basic outline is given in scripture. The doctrine of OSAS only fills pews and hell. Most of the old revivalists believed to some extent the biblical doctrine of peserverance, but none in the false doctrine of OSAS.
