I do not believe we will see revival

S
sermonindex

For the last few years I have prayed for revival with well meaning intercessors. I have prayed in venues ranging from church venues to con calls. I am coming to the conclusion that God is not going to bring revival to America or to the American church.

Do we need revival? No denying we do. But the church in America is too far gone in its sin to see an awakening from God. Not to mention the American church is prayerless which makes it powerless. In the Old Testament one would say Ikabob were wrtten over the American church. In the New Testament one would say the American church has had her candlestick removed.

The rising and approval of homosexuality in the church and nation should tell us that God has withdrawn His hand from us.

In God's mercy we have experienced revival in America in times past. But that mercy of God may have come to an end.

So what are we to do? I remember talking with a man of God years ago. I asked him if he thought we would ever see revival? His response was we would see revival. But it would not be like what we had in times past. He said the next revival would be a "qualtative" revival of holiness with a small remnant. He also added that the next revival would be set against the backdrop of persecution.

Thus our prayers should be more focussed on being more like Jesus himself. Here we will surely see God answer our prayers.

My thoughts.

I understand how you feel, however, I believe that there will be a genuine revival in America, it will come in ways and through vessels that may fly under the radar and during times of great upheaval in society, when a whole bunch of stuff is happening all at once, but true revival nonetheless. The bride will be dressed and ready for her husband to be sure, I do not think it wise to look at past revivals or awakenings of the past and expect the same in the sense of comparisons, however there will always be some things common to all revivals, deep repentance and devotion to Jesus being among that list(if you look at characteristics). Remember among one of the last acts in Sodom was the blinding of the corrupt of that community before judgement came from Heaven, I see the same blinding going on now in America...Than came the purging by fire of course.

God is not wanting a revival that will restore the american dream with more morals. God wants souls in His kingdom and His Church to be a counter-cultral agent standing for righteousness and the values of His kingdom.

The Bride of Christ will not be mixed with politics and other worldly systems but will be for the Lord alone. This is the revival that will happen world-wide before the end of the world where God will assemble those who have an allegiance to the Lamb of God alone in every nation and people group.

Description: It was a time of national apostasy when Hezekiah came to power. The northern tribes of Israel had just been carried off into exile by the Assyrians; none but a remnant of poor people remained. But Hezekiah was determined to institute reforms in Judah, the first of which would be the Passover. Messengers were sent throughout Israel inviting the people to return to the Lord. Most of the people rejected the invitation and abused the messengers; only a few responded.

Bearmaster (or anyone for that matter) I greatly encourage you to read Finney's Revival Lectures. You may , or may not, agree with every detail of Finney's theology. That is in no way the point. What IS the point is that he was in a similar... in fact in many ways far worse... spiritual climate that we are today. These are exactly the times we SHOULD be looking for God to move. I won't say more of those writings but encourage you to read them. It will give you a whole different outlook I think.

I also highly recommend several message series here on SI by J. Edwin Orr. Undoubtedly one of the greatest revival historians ever. Listen to his knowledge on revival in the early colonies, the Great Wakening, etc. You will be shocked... and encouraged.

Also here on SI listen to Duncan Campbell's testimony and the many messages about what happened at the Hebrides revival. Again, you will be shocked and encouraged.

MOST IMPORTANTLY IN MY MIND - Listen primarily to men and women on this topic that have been used by God as vessels in great revival. All people have opinions.... but the ones I mentioned have experience. The ones I listed are people that God used in the fore front of His outpourings. They know of which they speak.

There are hundreds of folks that will post their opinions here in the forums. However, virtually none of them have ever had the responsibility of being called by God to be at the fore front of an outpouring. They are just expressing opinions... often based upon total ignorace of the actual facts that accompany those situations. They mean well....but are clueless.

Be very careful about listening to those who have no first hand experience and knowledge on this count. Heed well the words and lessons of those that do.

It is a fearful thing to see God begin pouring out a sovereign move of His Spirit when you are in the leadership. So often the prayer is simply, "God help me... oh God do not let me fail or hinder your work". It is a fearful thing to know that your obedience/disobedience may be a key in the continuation of His blessings or withdrawal of them. It is in ways terrifying to realize that hundreds or thousands may come to Christ, or be hindered, by the degree of your submission and character.

I encourage you....go to those who have walked and know the way. The Word of God and their testimonies are enough to encourage you I am certain!

Be Blessed!

Some of the greatest revivals in history have come at some of the darkest times where there was great moral declension in both the Church and the world.

We should always pray and not faint or give up. I agree with Greg that God's will is not to restore the American dream, but God will restore and heal a nation where there is true repentance from the church in that nation, and where the conditions are met. God's promise is still that if His people would meet the conditions as listed in 2 Chronicles 7:14, that He would heal the land.

Bear, the reason why we desperately need revival is that the Church in this nation is in pitiful shape, but there is a remnant in this nation that can turn things around.

Hosea 4:1-3 Sons of Israel, hear the Word of Jehovah, for Jehovah has a quarrel with those living in the land; for there is no truth, and no mercy, and no knowledge of God in the land. Swearing, and lying, and killing, and stealing, and the committing of adultery increase. And blood touches against blood. On account of this the land shall mourn, and every one living in it shall droop, with the beasts of the field and the birds of the heaven; yes, also the fish of the sea shall be removed.

Hosea 4:9-19 And it will be, Like people, like priest. And I will visit their ways on them and repay them for their deeds. For they shall eat and not have enough. They shall fornicate and not increase, because they have ceased heeding Jehovah. Fornication and wine and new wine take away the heart. My people seek advice by their wooden idols, and their rod declares to them. For the spirit of harlotry has led them astray, and they fornicated from under their God. They sacrifice on the tops of the mountains and burn incense on the hills, under oak and poplar and terebinth, because its shade is good. On account of this, your daughters shall prostitute, and your brides shall commit adultery. I will not punish your daughters when they fornicate, nor your brides when they commit adultery. For the men themselves go aside with harlots, and they sacrifice with temple prostitutes. The people who do not understand are thrust down. Israel, though you fornicate, do not let Judah become guilty. And do not come to Gilgal, nor go up to Beth-aven, nor swear, As Jehovah lives. For Israel rebels, like a rebellious heifer. Now Jehovah will feed them as a lamb in a roomy place.
Ephraim is joined to idols. Let him alone.
Their drink is sour. They are continually fornicating. Her shields dearly love shame.
The wind binds her up in her wings, and they shall be ashamed because of their sacrifices.

Hosea 5:3,4 ...Israel is defiled. Their doings will not give them to turn to their God. For the spirit of fornication is in their midst, and they do not know Jehovah. Hosea 6:10 I have seen a horrible thing in the house of Israel: the fornication of Ephraim is there; Israel is defiled.

Ezekiel 14:14-23 And though these three men were in its midst, Noah, Daniel, and Job, by their righteousness they should deliver only their souls, declares the Lord Jehovah.
If I make evil beasts go through the land, and they bereave it, and it is desolate, so that no one would go through because of the beasts, though these three men were in its midst, as I live, declares the Lord Jehovah, they would deliver neither sons nor daughters; they would only deliver themselves, but the land would be desolate. Or if I bring a sword on that land and say, Let a sword go through the land, and I will cut off man and beast from it; even though these three men were in its midst, as I live, declares the Lord Jehovah, they should not deliver sons or daughters, but they only would deliver themselves. Or if I send a plague into the land and pour out My fury on it in blood, to cut off from it man and beast; though Noah, Daniel, and Job were in its midst, as I live, declares the Lord Jehovah, they would deliver neither son nor daughter; they by their righteousness would deliver only their souls.
For so says the Lord Jehovah, How much more when the four of My evil judgments: sword, and famine, and evil beast, and plague I send on Jerusalem, to cut off from it man and beast! Yet, behold, there shall be left in it escaping ones that shall be brought out, sons and daughters. Behold, they shall come to you, and you shall see their way and their doings. And you will be comforted for the evil which I have brought against Jerusalem, for all which I have brought upon it. And they will comfort you when you see their way and their doings. And you will know that not in vain I have done all that I did in it, declares the Lord Jehovah.

I am very aware that America doesn't = Israel, but may this word be addressed to the 'Sons of Israel'(Hos. 4:1),those who are of the faith of Abraham.

If we write-off the lukewarm and backslidden then how can we believe revival can even come to our own lives?

G
ginnyrose

Revival begins with the individual apart from other's responses to God. It is not dependent upon others being revived.

It would be very nice to see revival in the USA but I seriously doubt we will, at least not of the magnitude one is hoping for. Still, if things get really hard, I mean very hard where one is striped of their security, all their well-being, perhaps then there could be but I doubt it would be wide spread. People have developed such an entitlement mentality over the years that if they do not have coming to them what they think they deserve it could anger and embitter them some more, especially towards God and the people that are his representatives on this earth.

In the meantime we need to keep our eyes focused on the LORD Jesus lest we get snookered into their whorl of deception. The pressure is accelerating.

My understanding and opinion.

When I read this portion quoted above I was reminded of Moses' failure when he struck the rock instead of speaking to the rock as the Lord commanded him. How did he fail? Listen to his words, "Hear now, ye rebels!" Hope had died. "Must I fetch water out of this rock?" Love had died. He no longer desired their salvation, it had become a tedious thing to lead them to the rock. He was fed up with them, they could sink or swim.

When the enemy shall come in like a flood, the Spirit of the Lord shall lift up a standard against him. Isaiah 59:19

There is a move of God coming, Christ is coming back for a church without spot or wrinkle. So one of the key characteristics of the move of God will be Holiness. That points to a turning of Gods people from there sins to God.

We also find in the end times that there are two types of people Lovers of self and them that loved not their life even unto death. These "that loved not their life even unto death" speak of a people completely surrendered to God.

We also find mentioned another group of people "them that had gotten the victory over the beast, and over his image, and over his mark, and over the number of his name"

That's what the next Move of God is about it's preparation so that you can get the victory but first that victory must be won in your own personnel life Holiness, and living a crucified life (loving not your life).

Let me say that this move of God will be deeper and more powerful than any other that has come before. I also believe that if God could change my nation during the time of Knox and the reformation under terrible conditions he can also turn the people of my nation back to him.

2 Peter 3:11 Therefore, seeing that all these things shall be dissolved, what sort of people ought you to be in holy conduct and godliness...

In holy conduct and piety. That is, this fact ought to be allowed to exert a deep and abiding influence on us, to induce us to lead holy lives. We should feel that there is nothing permanent on the earth that this is not our abiding home; and that our great interests are in another world. We should be serious, humble, and prayerful; and should make it our great object to be prepared for the solemn scenes through which we are soon to pass. An habitual contemplation of the truth, that all that we see is soon to pass away, would produce a most salutary effect on the mind. It would make us serious. It would repress ambition. It would lead us not to desire to accumulate what must so soon be destroyed. It would prompt us to lay up our treasures in heaven. It would cause us to ask with deep earnestness whether we are prepared for these amazing scenes, should they suddenly burst upon us. - A. Barnes

I altered the comma which I am at liberty to do as it is not in the original.

I have always found that God waits until things are really bad before He intervenes and things are pretty bad in all of of the denominations. In the future I think the last 60 years and counting, will be known as a dark age.

There will be no move of God until the full gospel is accepted and people are truly entirely sanctified. As this doctrine is attacked and its preachers discredited, the darkness will continue.

When you use the phrase "entire sanctification" are you implying anything other than entrance into the "deeper life", or would you define the "deeper life" as something separate ?

Saints before this thread gets off track let us go back to the OP. I made the observation that the church in America and by implication America itself will not see revival. I mean revival where in times past God moved in a mighty way, the Spirit was present, the gospel preached, souls were saved, and believers ferverenly served Christ. I speak as something akin to Acts 2.

In ny generation the last credible national move of God was the Jesus Movement. From coast to coast the Holy Spirit moved in marvelous ways bringing many of the so called baby boomers to faith and life in Jesus Christ. Some who are still faithfully serving Jesus. I only pray I be one of them.

But for some who believe there will be this mighty move of God in America that will fill up the churches and stadiums. I gently tell you that it will not be. And dear friend I speak not as an angry watchman or a bitter old man who has no faith. But I speak as a brother who has tried to walk with Christ faithfully for the last 40 plus years. I speak as one who sees the reality of the world around him slipping into a greater darkness.

Gosh Bear! Any hope. Yes indeed there is hope! That hope is Jesus! That is Christ in you, the hope of glory! For Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever. That same Jesus who brought hope to us in the Jesus Movement and brings hope to the persecuted will bring hope to a faithful few in Amerca.

Entire sanctification when Krautfrau uses it she means "Triplex Via" or the Three-way way.

This process is in three stages according to Fox and other followers of the mystic tradition: purgation, illumination and union or glorification.

While I say the we are justified, sanctified and Glorified but Glorification doesn't happen while on earth.

The Deeper Life movement came about from the Methodists and Holiness Groups and follow in the principle of John Wesley’s teaching of a second work of Grace.

Hag 2:6 For thus saith the LORD of hosts; Yet once, it is a little while, and I will shake the heavens, and the earth, and the sea, and the dry land;
Hag 2:7 And I will shake all nations, and the desire of all nations shall come: and I will fill this house with glory, saith the LORD of hosts.
Hag 2:8 The silver is mine, and the gold is mine, saith the LORD of hosts.
Hag 2:9 The glory of this latter house shall be greater than of the former, saith the LORD of hosts: and in this place will I give peace, saith the LORD of hosts.

Nothing, quantitatively about the latter house. Only qualitative representation. "Glory shall be greater", not numbers of people shall be greater.

Heb 12:26 Whose voice then shook the earth: but now he hath promised, saying, Yet once more I shake not the earth only, but also heaven.
Heb 12:27 And this word, Yet once more, signifieth the removing of those things that are shaken, as of things that are made, that those things which cannot be shaken may remain.

Jer 51:33 For thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; The daughter of Babylon is like a threshingfloor, it is time to thresh her: yet a little while, and the time of her harvest shall come.

God is after mature "Sons". Quality not Quantity. He will have what He wants and will present to His Son a Bride and the sign of revival is not churches that are overflowing. If you are looking for that, you will miss the move of God and be dejected.

He is looking for that remnant, freely submitting to His hand in their lives, turning away from all that is not of Him.

There is a shaking coming and has already started. He is shaking everything so that which is not of Him will not stand (survive). We are all experiencing His "shaking" and have an obligation to allow "revival" to take it's course in our lives or else we will be "threshed out".

I am not looking for thousands and millions to fill churches. Rather, I see the majority of so-called Believers blaspheming His name and His ways. Millions fill churches today...so...what does that mean? Does it mean revival? No!

He is calling for those with ears to hear and eyes to see to "Come out of Babylon, not fill it to overflowing". Come out of the worldly, counterfeit church, that is only giving Him lip service.

Relatively speaking, only a small company of men and women will heed His call.

If you understand this you won't be dejected. When has the true Church ever been a majority of professing Believers on earth?

The only difference is that the second bit, second blessing, according to the tradition I am part of, says that it happens in two distinct stages. That's all. The power then the presence of sin is dealt with. All part of the sanctification process only some stick at an earlier stage. Its going deeper into deeper. Sorry bear, to me they are the same thing its all about holiness. Whenever someone gets ES'ed and others are convicted through their witness revival pours out. Its how the Hebridean revivals happened through two old women. They convinced Campbell but could have only done it if they were in the blessing themselves. Fox wandered the English countryside alone and others were convinced when he witnessed the blessing to them. Its the whole reason why it does not happen today - unbelief. So what do you think revival is all about then? Can't you see the two are connected?

S

Brother I respectfully differ with your interpretation of Rev. 7:9.regarding revival in the here and now. The verse may have a future fulfillment depending on your view of Revelation. But revivals or movements of God in the present tend to be qualitative among a small faith remnant.

Scholars have suggested that around a million people were in Jerusalem at the time of Pentacost. But even if one were to say around 100,000 Jews were in Jerusalem at that time. The out pouring of the Spirit in Acts 2 only affected a small remnant of believers at that time. Though a few thousand were saved that is a small number against the backdrop of tens of thousands of Jews on that day.

Even in China and Iran where some marvelous moves of God are taking place. The relative number of believers is small in comparison to the rest of these countries.

Even in holiness. Only a few are going to be holy.

But on the same day there was 3000 added...

Acts 2:47 – And the Lord added to their number day by day those who were being saved.

Acts 5:14 – And more than ever believers were added to the Lord, multitudes of both men and women.

Acts 9:31 – So the church throughout all Judea and Galilee and Samaria had peace and was being built up. And walking in the fear of the Lord and in the comfort of the Holy Spirit, it multiplied.

Acts 11:24 – for he was a good man, full of the Holy Spirit and of faith. And a great many people were added to the Lord.

Acts 16:5 – So the churches were strengthened in the faith, and they increased in numbers daily.

Quote: Even in holiness. Only a few are going to be holy.

This move of God is going to be different - Holiness is coming in a depth that we haven't seen before why because this revival is about the people. In the past we had our Duncan Campbell's, Wesleys etc etc this time it will be the people..

I want to respond to the very first post on this thread, but I want to do it carefully.

There is a revival going on in America right now. It is very wide spread, thousands of lives are being changed, and every day new ministries supporting it in full force are sprouting up like like Bull Nettle. It is a revival of Gnosticism, of mysticism, of Dominion theology, and other doctrines of demons that exalt man over God. This shouldn't shock us, Paul told Timothy in both of his epistles that it would happen.

I dislike, greatly, revival theology/revivalism. It is not proclaimed in scriptures short of sewing some riduculous quilt of verses together that basically tell us how a follower of God should act--verses that, in context, have nothing to do with revival and scarcely anything to do with how to get God to move in a great way. But that is the problem, isn't it? Today, revivalism is all about how to get God to move in a supernatural way. You gotta be prayed up. You gotta be willing to change your life. You gotta want it bad enough. You gotta pursue holiness. You gotta get this right and that right. It's all about what YOU can do to motivate God to fulfill promises that He has already given-a pragmatic formula. That is ridiculous. There are some elements of truth in it, but largely, it is just another tool to lift up the efforts of man and control God with them. So many of you are going to argue with that but listen to what I am saying.

Quit proclaiming revival. Quit preaching revival. Quit teaching revival.

Teach Christ and Him crucified! God forbid that I should glory, save in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom the world is crucified unto me, and I to the world! Don't you get it? Revivals have happened in the past; yes! So should we start teaching and examining how exactly that worked so that we can produce the same results??? ABSOLUTELY NOT! God is not a pragmatist, and Christianity isn't about what works and what does not. It is about Jesus Christ and Him crucified. If there were any true revivals, it was because He was proclaimed. But we are NEVER promised revival. However we are promised this: "All those who want to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted." Don't expect anything but the hatred of the world and rejection. Our crown of glory is not received in this life. Don't expect you should even get a glimpse of it until then.

What we need is reformation. We need a reformation of our hearts and a reformation of our minds. Not a new 95 Theses nailed on some church door, but the reality of the Gospel of Jesus Christ nailed to our hearts and branded on our minds. Everything else is rubbish compared to knowing Him. So why on earth would we proclaim these lesser things as something more important than Christ? To the wind with it all. I can't stand revivalism for what it has become--a theology instead of a reality. That's the true mark of dead theology; it has no real place in the hearts and minds of those who teach it and those who hear it. Again, toss it out. Decide to know and proclaim nothing than Christ and Him crucified--the Gospel.

S

Havok I would agree. I only suggest what you call reformation I would call a transformation of the heart. But then. It hs Christ in us the hope of glory that is transforming and reforming our hearts.

Krautfrau - Brenda wrote:

What's this 'full gospel' of which you speak that must be accepted before we see a move of God!

2 Cor. 11:4 For if he that cometh preacheth another Jesus, whom we have not preached, or if ye receive another spirit, which ye have not received, or another gospel, which ye have not accepted, ye might well bear with him.

There's only one Gospel and it is Full!

Romans 1:16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God to salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.

2 Cor. 4:3-7 But if our gospel is hid, it is hid to them that are lost:
In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them who believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine to them.
For we preach not ourselves, but Christ Jesus the Lord; and ourselves your servants for Jesus' sake. For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined into our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ. But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellence of the power may be of God, and not from us.

The Galatians had not continued with the full gospel. They settled on a partial one. They were called into the grace of Christ, Gal 1:6, but waylaid by some who had perverted the gospel, the one they had heard from Paul previously, doubting his words, words which he had been given directly from Christ, and believed in gradual sanctification (by the flesh) whereas Paul had taught them that sanctification is by faith.

He showed them that it is achieved in the same manner that they had begun in the Spirit Gal 3:3, that is by believing in something, ie that Christ had died for them, and to become perfect Gal 3:3, they only had to again believe it is done by Christ and not by a struggle with the flesh. Flesh is crucified.

Like I said, "relatively speaking".

This "multitude" cannot compare with the "many" that follow the broad way of destruction. This multitude is the "few" that followed the "narrow way".

You must consider the whole counsel of God, not just isolated verses.

Matthew 7:13-14
Enter ye in at the strait gate:for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.

Quote: There is a revival going on in America right now. It is very wide spread, thousands of lives are being changed, and every day new ministries supporting it in full force are sprouting up like like Bull Nettle. It is a revival of Gnosticism, of mysticism, of Dominion theology, and other doctrines of demons that exalt man over God.

Yes good point and then there is a the Revival of works-salvation as well.

Quote: We need a reformation of our hearts and a reformation of our minds. Not a new 95 Theses nailed on some church door, but the reality of the Gospel of Jesus Christ nailed to our hearts and branded on our minds.

Now thats what I would call Holiness

Quote: This multitude is the "few" that followed the "narrow way".

Now thats a new meaning for a few for me.

A Few meaning a great multitude, which no man could number.

Quote:You must consider the whole counsel of God, not just isolated verses

In Genesis 13: 16 God tells Abraham that his seed would become so profuse, that “if anyone could count the grains of sand on the earth, then shall your seed also be counted”. So, in the way that nobody could count the grains of sand on earth and the seed of Abraham, in the same way nobody could count the number of the Great Multitude.

I've been away from d forums for weeks. Came around moments ago to see d goings and got hooked by this thread. Have painstakingly read through most of d comments and would gladly make a few comments chiefly for d Simple reason of speaking for d constituencies I duly represent. I identify with these constituencies by age and location.

How sad it'd be to watch this thread heat, boil and cool off in d archives without any comments from d heart of Tropical Africa. As if d Sub saharan Africa does not have any stake in this expected move of God. How sad it'd still be for this thread if in d end, nobody within d neighbourhood of 30 speaks out (atleast in that capacity). They being d generation that must carry "this new wine" if it must be in d end.

Since this thread is just a trade of opinions and beliefs, I won't be ashamed to air my views since I've got one. I'm afraid I'd sound pretty ridiculous since d general climate of d Thread seem tilted against my views. Mine will sound like a "grandiose delusion" but grandiose anyhow.

First I must say I expect d darkness that is currently settling on d World to increase. I expect that in d years ahead, Western Parliaments will pass bills permitting gay people to perform extreme lewd acts in public "provided it'd make them feel better." I do not put any stop to my imagination of d extreme lewdness we must expect as we progress, even from gay preachers. The Antichrist is called d man of lawlessness and that paints d picture of d society he must and is about to create.

I do not see this Revival as having its flashpoint in any of d Western world. I see it as beginning on d African soil or from Asia. It'd be an opportunity for d third world to rise and lend Europe and America a helping-hand. It'd be a pay-back time since the West has done so much for us.

Next I do not believe that D LORD will come in a sneaky underhand way to rapture d Church (however we interpret the word Rapture). I do n't believe He'd come quickly in an S.O.S fashion to rescue a group of "miserable remnants" trapped in a cave in a far flung backside of a desert just in time before d gates of hell prevails against them. If it is true that the LORD is coming for a Bride which the Church is to become, then She must receive her Groom and leave with Him through the front door rather than be smuggled through d back door like a common housemaid.

Our LORD said He will come as a thief in d night and in that I see d whole picture of what lies ahead.D First lesson we must take seriously is dat, it'd be in d night. It'd become so dark dat even the wise virgins as well as d foolish will all fall asleep in exhaustion as if He'd no longer come. I also feel dat it'd get so dark dat d lamps of expectation for a widespread Revival will start burnin out as we see in dis current thread.

Then in d middle of this darknight, there was a "CRY". And in that, I find a parallel for this Revival we've been describing. Our LORD who understands our frame and is touched by the feeling of our infirmities knows that 2000 years is long enough to provoke a deep slumber on d part of His bride so He wouldn't risk catching her unprepared. So in His mercy, He sends them a CRY. Among other things, to my mind, this Revival is going to be a midnight Cry.

Its also very remarkable that this Cry brought about a "separation" between d Wise and d foolish virgins. Separation being an element for which Revivals have enjoyed continual reputation. There are many "foolish virgins" who find it easy to parade themselves as gay pastors, prosperity preachers and "oil-less" motivational speakers because of this current darkness upon d Church. The Cry will separate between us and them.

This midnight cry will also awaken d Church to her oil which she once thought she had lost. On this, I see also a revival of certain potentials of d Church which she thinks is no longer possible. For instance, the incident of Acts 8:39 may be revived as a way to reach some lost tribes in d heart of d Amazon rain forest and other secluded tribes and Islamic nations that may never grant access to Christians. Some persons may be cut off in d Spirit and placed within such tribes and people. Equipped with d special abilities to communicate in their native languages, these individuals would preach to them and leave also by d same mechanism of spiritual transport.

So in d end, I see d most dangerous Revival outbreaks in Church history. A revival that'd set d stage for d last Awakenning. A revival that'd continue till the end of Time.
This Revival as I see it will baffle historians.it'd dominate International media and hold nations at ransome for weeks.

It'd deal a deadly blow on d entertainment industry d world over. Many football clubs in Europe and America will disband as superstar players and coaches quit entertainment for an opportunity to preach d gospel in distant lands. It'd almost make Hollywood history with a string of high profiled conversions happening in quick successions.

The cry of Acs17:6 will once again be heard in which Christians are referred to as the people who turned the World upside down. This Revival will almost bring civilization to its knees so much that politicians will take practical steps to persecute d Church in a last desperate measure to rescue civilization as they know it. And they'd seem right in doing so in d eyes of d public. (This to my mind is d only justification for a full scale persecution of any sect or religion in the 21st Century. I stand to be corrected).

I hear something about Quantitative and Qualitative forecasting of these future events. Whereas I do not expect us to beat our forebears in d Qualitative work of Grace (since its still from d same Spirit), I sincerely believe that when we get to Heaven, it'd be a marvel to our Fathers of Faith how we were able to achieve such a Qualitative work of Grace in so great number of lives in so short a period of time.

The glory of d latter house shall indeed far outweigh d former in quantity if not also in quality. It shall then trully be said that the LORD has reserved d very best wine for d very last.

This present Church age though as feeble as she is, with very few giants of thought as other generations gone by, may receive more portions of d workings of grace just like Benjamin received from Joseph (a type of Jesus Christ).

In all these, its clear that I speak with d simplicity of a child. But who would despise d days of small things?

I speak as one who does not know by experience what it means to have prayed for revival for decades and not seen one.

I speak as one who would not be deterred by d apparent unsuccessful attempts of d Elders who had gone before.

Though others may have been to d mountain top, seen d promised land and were assured they'd never enter in, I speak as a member of that feeble generation chosen By Mercy to enter and taste d fruits of that land flowing with milk and honey.

I speak as a youth who had sat down and counted d cost of seeing a Revival and had decided (God willing), as much as it lieth within me, to come to d "help of D LORD" in this matter.

D big question now is: How shall these things be, Brother Emeka? Flesh and blood can never pull such s stunt. D only possibility I see is as recorded in Luk 1:35 ".. The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee..." When this happens to d Church on a general scale, we'd call it a Revival.

Its midnight already for d Church; yes! But it won't end without a Cry.

Brother Emeka writes from d heart of tropical Africa.

"Do we need revival? No denying we do. But the church in America is too far gone in its sin to see an awakening from God. Not to mention the American church is prayerless which makes it powerless. In the Old Testament one would say Ikabob were wrtten over the American church. In the New Testament one would say the American church has had her candlestick removed."

Bear,
I have to disagree with you that the Church in America is too far gone. What church are you looking at brother? The organized church as we know it is not the church that Jesus is building. There is a remant of overcomers right here in this nation that are interceding and standing in the gap. If God can cause a valley of dry bones to live again, then He can certainly breathe life into the Church in America and cause it to live again.

It is evident in the scripture that dark days are ahead, but in both Joel and Isaiah, the scrptures proclaim that there will be great light and glory for the saints. God's grace is either sufficient to get us through the end times or it isn't. There will be great suffering for the saints in the last days, but there will be great glory also. God has always made provision for His people in times of great trouble.

Romans 9:27-28
Esaias also crieth concerning Israel, Though the number of the children of Israel be as the sand of the sea, a remnant shall be saved: For he will finish the work, and cut it short in righteousness:because a short work will the Lord make upon the earth.

Romans 11:5
Even so then at this present time also there is a remnant according to the election of grace.

Romans 11:7
What then? Israel hath not obtained that which he seeketh for; but the election hath obtained it, and the rest were blinded
