Are Cell Phones Dangerous?

S
sermonindex

First of all I am not poking fun at Heartsong. But our sister may be raising some valid points about cell phone usage. And maybe other digital divices such as tablets.

Out of respect for her I am opening up this thread for some intelligent discussion on this matter. So please do not mock her or this thread.

All of us including myself use cell phones, smart phones, tablets, etc. Many of us use them for ministry. I have an HTC Max One which is too big to hold to my ear. So I use a wired head set to speak on. I am not worried about the radiation going into my brain. But with my vision I hold the phone close. So I am sure this is not good.

Let us have some wise discussion. But again please no mocking. I would like to know what the dangers may be in cell phone usage.

Someone has spoken about the addiction to cell or smart phones Thus would be a good thread to discuss this on.

The scriptures exhort us to self control in all things. Even our electronic devices.

So is there a wise way we can make our smart phones tools for the kingdom and not toys for our harm?

Bearmaster.

TMK

One thing I have thought a lot about is how much information we now put into our brains that we never used to. Most of it is fairly useless info. For example if I hear a song and want to know who sings it I can put the lyrics in Google and find out. We have tons of info at our fingertips that we used to just let drop.

One thing I notice about this is that my attention span is somewhat decreased. It is harder for me to watch a whole movie for example than it used to be. Often something in the movie makes me want to grab my cell phone and check something out.

So there is a question as to whether we are designed to have access to so much info.

I don't put stock in cell phones affecting us by "waves" etc but they may affect us physically by changing the way our brains work. Whether this is good or bad or indifferent is open to discussion.

Thank you brother for your kindness in doing this and your heart behind starting this thread.

Personally for me I avoided cellphones for 10 years like the plague. I still do not actively use one but have an old broken iphone that I used as an emergency cellphone with the cell signal almost always off. Also I use the iphone to take advantage of the free iMessage txt'ing feature when using it with wifi.

I still do not believe it is wise to have a cellphone always on near your body. Especially for long 2-4 hour conversations near your head. Using a mic and headset or headphones. But cellphones are a great tool for ministry and very cost-effectient for some saints to use.

Wifi also is not healthy overall but we cannot get away from that sadly in my neibourhod there are 4-7 different wifi signals that overlap over our in-law suite home.

Though I endeavor to use my smart phone for ministry such as the prayer calls. I find this divice can be a distraction. If I am praying or listening or reading the word there is the ever present temptation to see who called, sent a text or email.

I have found turning off my smart phone to be helpful as I have time with the Lord. That way there is a check when I physically try to turn the phone back on and uh uh. Time with Jesus first.

There have been some rich times with the Lord that the phone stayed off for hours. Guess what. The universe did not come to a screeching halt.

There are many great apps where one can listen to the Bible on their smart phone. But the temptation for me is to check my email or text when listening to the Bible through my phone.

I generally use an IBible to listen to the New Testament and turn the phone off. But some time it is good to have the phone turned on playing the word through the house. Very powerful to hear the spoken word.

Greg I never thought exposure to WiFi. Again this might be something to think about. Particularly from the EM point of view.

I think there have been reports of people living close to high transmission power lines having health issues. Though the evidence may be inconclusive on this.

H

The effect is cumulative. However, the closer you are to the source of the signal, the more harmful the exposure. The three people that the LORD has shown me all live within 1/2 mile of three cell type towers and one electrical substation. They live in the poor section of town. One is in a wheelchair, one is on oxygen and one is a pastor that keeps getting sicker and sicker. His wife is also having problems.

In Iowa, they erected three cell towers within 1/2 mile of my house. The also put up a wind turbine within 2 miles of my house. The cell towers were located between the wind turbine and my house. Imagine the wake that a small propeller makes in the water. Now imagine the size of the wake that a wind turbine makes in the air. When a signal is pulsed, it becomes more harmful to our body. Wind turbines are giant pulsing machines. The rapidly changing pressure from the blades actually make bats lungs explode.

Here are two reports that I found to be most valuable in learning about the cause and effect of electromagnetic radiation.

Bees, Birds and Mankind Destroying Nature by `Electrosmog. Ulrich Warnke.

How Susceptible Are Genes to Mobile Phone Radiation?

It is on page 30 of the second report that you can read about the variables of radiation exposure.

If you would rather not load pdf's, both reports, along with another, can be found at: http://www.kompetenzinitiative.net/ The only problem is that the website is in German. Look for the the words "Brochure Series" on the right hand side to find the reports in English.

Personally, I have to use my cell phone to earn my living, I am more concerned about the food I consume and the air I breathe, than my cell phone. There has not been one death on earth contributed to cell phone use, except maybe using it while driving. I will never get on the cell phone kills wagon. Christians are already under enough condemnation from other Christians, for watching TV, etc. what will be next? I think scare tactics is the ultimate wrong, all in moderation. A Christian should never tell someone they don't watch TV or use a cell phone, or drive a car or eat hamburgers, all it does is put Christians that don't know any better under condemnation. I hope we all know how God feels about condemnation. Soon the internet will cause cancer, then what? We don't get to come to SI anymore?

The LORD has had me to move to Texas - the land of giants. Texas has more wind turbines, and more cell towers than any other state. There are ~250,000 towers in the United States, and ~50,000 of them are in Texas. Across the US, new towers are going up at a rate of ~2,000 per week. Soon there will be no better place to live.

Genesis 1:25 says: "And God made the beast of the earth after his kind, and cattle after their kind, and every thing that creepeth upon the earth after his kind: and God saw that it was good."

It doesn't say anything about Him making cell towers. And now that I think about it, it was man that built the tower of babel - and God was not too pleased about it.

So much for cheap wind power.

From what I am hearing any type of electricity is going to kill us dead.

I guess I will have to take my chances.

Back in bible times the average life expectancy was probably about 45 years or so.

So I guess we must be doing something right since we've almost doubled that--- cell phones and all.

And let's not forget HAARP and contrails.

One of the things that radiation does is to deplete our Magnesium levels. Magnesium is necessary for over 350 enzymatic reactions, which means, that without magnesium our bodies do not process foods as they should. Flashing Lights also deplete our magnesium levels which means that watching television makes matters even worse.

I do trust Him. In the situation that I am now in, I have to trust Him because there is no other way for me to survive.

I asked Him why He was letting me experience these things and this was His answer.

"In the year that Tartan came unto Ashdod, (when Sargon the king of Assyria sent him,) and fought against Ashdod, and took it;

At the same time spake the Lord by Isaiah the son of Amoz, saying, Go and loose the sackcloth from off thy loins, and put off thy shoe from thy foot. And he did so, walking naked and barefoot.

And the Lord said, Like as my servant Isaiah hath walked naked and barefoot three years for a sign and wonder upon Egypt and upon Ethiopia;

So shall the king of Assyria lead away the Egyptians prisoners, and the Ethiopians captives, young and old, naked and barefoot, even with their buttocks uncovered, to the shame of Egypt.

And they shall be afraid and ashamed of Ethiopia their expectation, and of Egypt their glory.

And the inhabitant of this isle shall say in that day, Behold, such is our expectation, whither we flee for help to be delivered from the king of Assyria: and how shall we escape?" - Isaiah 20:1-6

I appreciate your scientific information. I have never had a "Christian" come across to me personally, that when they are telling me they don't watch TV or use cell phones or whatever, as it really is for the concern for my health. Most make it sound like, because they don't do it, that I should not do it, and to be honest, I think this is the message they want to send. Look, we are either led by man or God, if God speaks to me and says, quit watching TV and using your cell phone, they will go in the ocean.

Until then, if we are going to tell other Christians what we do, we can't or should not expect them to follow our lead, this is putting them under condemnation. Trust me, there are many, many other things we should be concerned about than cell phones and TV, like trying to clean our own houses, those being the Church for beginners, and being Apostles like we are called to do, we are putting the cart "WAY" before the horse.

Dear brother Frank,

The last time I saw you, you quoted these same versus and caused me all kinds of problems because it put doubt in my mind and the shield that He has put around me is made of faith. Doubt brings down the shield. I know you are trying to help, but you should pray before you quote scripture to others.

Actually, you were a witness to the technology that I am trying to address in this thread. Do you remember in Barnsdall, when I was talking to you about cell phones, you held your phone in front of you and I started to sweat profusely? Well it is the very same as I described in the thread that was locked. At the time I thought it was the broken air conditioner, but as I was driving home it hit me that it all come on way too suddenly and then the image of you holding your phone in front of you flashed in my mind. There is more to say, but I will just leave it at that.

First of all, I would ask that you forgive me for leaving out the most important thing I was to say to you in my last post. God loves us very much, and the reason He tells us to leave off doing this, or that, is to keep us safe from the devil.

Here are the verses from 1 John 3 about our heart condemning us:

18 My little children, let us not love in word, neither in tongue; but in deed and in truth.

19 And hereby we know that we are of the truth, and shall assure our hearts before him.

20 For if our heart condemn us, God is greater than our heart, and knoweth all things.

21 Beloved, if our heart condemn us not, then have we confidence toward God.

22 And whatsoever we ask, we receive of him, because we keep his commandments, and do those things that are pleasing in his sight.

23 And this is his commandment, That we should believe on the name of his Son Jesus Christ, and love one another, as he gave us commandment.

24 And he that keepeth his commandments dwelleth in him, and he in him. And hereby we know that he abideth in us, by the Spirit which he hath given us.

A
a-servant

yeah its OUR heart that might condemn us, even when the mind is temporarily 'brain washed' and acts as if not there for the moment - the heart still knows what is right, and what is not. [only exception: 1 Timothy 4:2]

the low level reflex is, to blame the resulting pain on the messenger that brings the truth when that light starts to expose darkness, he is then the one responsible for making us feel uncomfortable. Not. It's still our heart. Suffer the pain and reconcile with your heart.

Regarding cell phones: second option buy a few more, if one does not work for your sensitivity level, perhaps 3 or 4 is the dose you need that makes you feel anything. Everyone can know the truth, some earlier, currently desensitised ones a bit later.

The last time we spoke you were in much distress. It was summer time and the air conditioning in bro Brian's church had broken. I am not sure how quoting the truth can do anyone any harm sister? To live in fear is not of God. To live in fear is to live in bondage. If we have grand obsessions in our life it should be Jesus. There are so many things in the world that can harm us, and especially the days we are living in and the days that lie ahead. Yet in all these things the Lord has not given us a spirit of fear. He has give us a sound mind that comes through faith and trust in Him no matter what state the world or what dangers we face. Jesus came to set the captives free, to set at liberty those in bondage. I pray that you would ponder on these living truths. I was one who lived with fear for many years, as I shared with you last year, and the Scripture that delivered me and continues too is " Be anxious for nothing, but in everything my prayer and supplication and thanksgiving make your requests known to God. And the peace of God which passes all understanding will guard your heart and mind through Christ Jesus." ......bro Frank

T

sister: brother Frank has given wise counsel. I would add...
18  There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love.

Gal 5:6 For in Jesus Christ neither circumcision availeth any thing, nor uncircumcision; but faithwhich worketh by love.

It is good to be wise where our physical bodies are concerned, but God would not have us live in fear. Fear will shipwreck our faith.

Don't even give it another thought. I have been a Christian for over 50 years,Indeed, we are not answerable to mere man (Isaiah 2:22; Galatians 1:10) but are answerable to God. The God Who created us and chose us and Who loves us like crazy. However, many priests and ministers don’t tell us this message. Many seek to take people who already feel under condemnation and seek to justify and reinforce that condemnation.

I say this in Love because I have personally witnessed this in many Christians in my 50 year walk. The fact is, that smug, self-righteous people, those who feel holier than thou, commit the most egregious sin. They are the ones who haven’t got a clue as to how far all of us fall short of God’s standards of perfection and holiness. They trust in their meager attempts to act in the culturally approved manner of what is deemed "Christian” in order to please God. Moreover, they take their twisted image of God and Christianity and seek to impose those images onto the thinking of other adults and, most poignantly, children.

They wittingly or unwittingly put yokes of bondage and condemnation on others. For the record, I am not talking about anyone here, I have never met anyone here, I am talking about "some" Christians I have personally been friends with and been a part of my Church family over the past years, I have seen this and witnessed this in these folks, so I can say this.
God Bless!

Dear brother Frank,

Jesus is my grand obsession. These things that I am bringing forth are things that He wants me to bring forth. I would like nothing better than to be "back in the nest" where everything is soft and warm and the only thing that is flowing over me is His love. But He has let me know in no uncertain terms that that is not where He wants me at this point in time. He has work for me to do. His people are perishing for lack of knowledge and there are words that must be brought forth.

The scripture that you quoted intimates that I am not currently of a sound mind and that I am in fear. I took those words into my spirit when I was in Barnsdall and as a result the devil was all over me, for they put me in unbelief. The LORD has made it clear what path that I am to be upon, and I am not to let any man persuade me otherwise.

There is one thing that distresses me greatly, and that is that hardly anyone seems to be able to hear or see these things that LORD would have me to say.

The LORD has put these verses on my heart again and again:

"They did not destroy the nations, concerning whom the Lord commanded them: But were mingled among the heathen, and learned their works. And they served their idols: which were a snare unto them.

Yea, they sacrificed their sons and their daughters unto devils, And shed innocent blood, even the blood of their sons and of their daughters, whom they sacrificed unto the idols of Canaan: and the land was polluted with blood.

Thus were they defiled with their own works, and went a whoring with their own inventions. Therefore was the wrath of the Lord kindled against his people, insomuch that he abhorred his own inheritance. And he gave them into the hand of the heathen; and they that hated them ruled over them." - Psalm 106:35-41

This technology that we all so dearly love is killing our children. It is killing our neighbors. It is killing our brothers and sisters. It is killing the plants and animals all around us, and it is killing us.

It causes cancer, leukemia, alzheimers, dementia and a myriad of other diseases as our immune system is compromised. It damages our DNA, which is carried down to our children. It is killing the bees which we need to pollinate our food.

How can it be that we are willing to sacrifice all of these things just for our convenience? How can we even think that the LORD would bless the use of something that is so clearly evil? The enemy comes to seek and destroy. How can it be that we would embrace something that is so clearly destructive? It consumes our time. It consumes our money. And it consumes our minds.

God have mercy on our souls.

Greetings Heartsong

I have read through some of the differing views on this topic and found some interesting things. You mentioned in one of your threads that cell phones do cause cancer but I just wanted to share with you that even those in the American Cancer Society do not have enough information to support that. On there website they go into great detail about this and if you would like you can read it here:

http://www.cancer.org/cancer/cancercauses/othercarcinogens/athome/cellular-phone-towers

I do believe that there can be over use of cell phones, just as with any other tool it can be abused. I do also agree that cells phones, because of the internet capability, can be addictive to some. I know people who can not go thirty minutes with out checking their phones for text, email, or just the latest news stories. I do believe this can be harmful for some spiritually but then so can anything that people hold on to and prize above JESUS.
As far as cell phones making people sick? I did read a very interesting article about how germs are passed around and how cell phones can carry and breed more germs then most other surfaces. Its interesting because we do hold on to our phones and pass them around to others then put them up to our mouth to speak with out giving much thought to how many germs might be on them :) I think what I have learned from this is to make sure I clean my phone if I am sick, and to wipe it down occasionally so I don't spread my germs to anyone else. This is something I do out of consideration for others just like I cover my mouth when I cough.

At the end of the day, not all the research is in. Will they prove in the future that cell phones and towers have a direct link to cancer, I don't know, maybe? but the evidence is not there now. All we have is today to follow JESUS and live our lives unto HIM. HE calls us to do so with out fear and to place our trust in HIM in all things. You have mentioned that you are surrounded by cell towers and radio waves that you feel are making you sick. The truth is we are all surrounded by things that can make us sick each day. I pray that you will find peace as you go knowing that JESUS is your covering, that HE is watching over you protecting you. In HIM we have nothing to fear, we walk by faith and trust in HIM.

One day a lady from Jehovah's Witness came to my door and quoted me much scripture. She was also very nice to me. But her words were not unto life, they were unto death.

Heartsong,

Was the person that came knocking on your door a friend and a sister for many years or merely a random cult member?....bro Frank

There is no such thing as a random cult member. She was sent of the devil.

"The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy..." John 10:10a

Heartsong,

It seems your comparing myself sharing those Scriptures with you last year, because of course what you were sharing with me, with a cult member that showed up on your door? Did I get that wrong? Perhaps we should just agree to disagree. I will certainly not make the same mistake twice, let us simply pray for each other..........bro Frank

Appolus,

Are you certain you did not miss the mind of Christ when you gave advice that time? Are you not as capable to err as Watchman Nee who witnessed his strength leave him just as he was to knock on the brother's door to provide exhortation? Or the older prophet who compelled the younger to dine with him who was later mauled by lions because he had not obeyed the Lord's explicit instruction? The elder prophet told the younger that The Lord had instructed him to invite him to eat. See 1 Kings 13.

Please don't make a hasty judgement brother.

Jeremy, in order for me to justify myself to you or any others I would have to reveal the content of my face to face conversation with this dear sister. I am not prepared to do that. It is a small thing to be judged by others, it only matters what the Lord knows. This will be my last post on this thread, I bow out with deep sadness.......bro Frank

Brethren,

We are going to lock this thread we do not want to condone or promote saints speaking to each other in a public forum where it could be done privately in love to the other. By saying and doing this we are not supporting anyone but simply asking saints that more personable things be emailed to the individual.

May our words minister life and also realize there is a watching world of tens of thousands of people reading our comments as we bear the name of Jesus Christ.

this thread is locked.
