Paris attacks: ISIS claims responsibility for gunfire, blasts that killed 128 people

Paris (CNN) ISIS claimed responsibility for gunfire and blasts that targeted six sites Friday night in Paris, killing 128 people in one of Europe's deadliest massacres in recent years.

In an online statement distributed by supporters Saturday, the terror group said eight militants wearing explosive belts and armed with machine guns attacked precisely selected areas in the French capital.

In addition to the people killed, 180 others were injured, according to the Paris Police Prefecture. More than half of them are in critical condition.
President Francois Hollande blamed the attacks on ISIS, calling it "an act of war" by the militants. He said it was planned from the outside -- "with inside complicity." ...

okay...is that "persecution"?

or is it just the foul rotten fruit of jihadism?

so what next?

why did Jesus tell the disciples, ALL Jewish men, in the last days, to sell their cloaks and buy a sword?

(i'm NOT trying to start trouble brother, I am grieving, thinking of all those innocent souls just out a Friday night)

this is a NEW kind of operational attack, the mad dog ugly attack against very soft targets.

I guess maybe now the world will understand what it means to live in Israel.

Quote: "I guess maybe now the world will understand what it means to live in Israel."
This is the most inappropriate comment in this difficult time!
Please saints let's not use this tragedy to start one of those ungodly discussions again!

The comments we make here will be read around the world, may be they will be read by some of the victims of this horrible tragedy When they come to a Christian website they probably hope to find some comfort and hope etc. they hope to find find a bit of love.
May we pray for them, may we pray that some might hear of the Love of our Lord who died on the cross.

To all the people in Paris: i can not even imagine the suffering some of you are now going through, may I humbly give you a verse from the Scriptures;
The LORD is near to the brokenhearted And saves those who are crushed in spirit (Psalm 34:18)
Blessings, praying for you!

no.

I read enough anti-Israel palaver on this site in the last weeks, to realize there is no profit to gain from such discourse.

what is inappropriate about that statement of fact?, for almost 70 years, Jews living in Israel have had to contend DAILY with what happened last night in Paris....and much much worse. so i'm at loss why you deemed such as "inappropriate".

The timing is inappropriate. - "in this difficult time"

I read several posts on a secular news site and most of the posters were expressing sympathy and concern for the bereaved. .

This is from social medias;
"Thoughts and prayers and love are with people in Paris tonight..."
"Just heard about Paris, praying for you all right now"
"Guys, it's time to #PrayForParis right now."

Sad if we have to learn this from the world

Brothers and sisters I agree. The people of Paris need our prayers right now. If I remember correctly they in Paris were praying for us during 911. Let us keep them in our thoughts and prayers. For this tragically is there 911.

And let us remember we are not immune to such attacks. I think we would want to have the world praying for us should such occur on this soil. So again let us keep those in France in our prayers.

Hi Neil,

what is inappropriate about that statement of fact?, for almost 70 years, Jews living in Israel have had to contend DAILY with what happened last night in Paris....and much much worse. so i'm at loss why you deemed such as "inappropriate".

and if we want to cast about what is "ungodly" on the this forum's discourse......I could forespeak very clearly on that matter.....but there is little profit.

In a class in college (a few years after 9/11), our professor discussed "prevention" policy as it relates to preventing terrorism on American soil. We were told to come up with hypothetical ways in which terrorists could wreak havoc and how to prevent those things from happening.

Most of the students in the class came up with "big" terrorist acts that mirrored 9/11 -- from hijacking planes and flying them into stadiums to detonating dirty bombs in U.S. cities. Most of the students created anti-terrorist policies that resembled the Patriot Act or international intelligence and monitoring of radioactive material.

My ideas differed quite a bit from the rest of the class. I explained that terrorists probably cannot readily repeat a 9/11 style attack on U.S. soil. There are so many homeland security measures at airports and major venues that most of these hypothetical acts are improbable or impracticable (or could be detected through existing intelligence operations).

Rather, I explained that terrorists hope to further their causes by disrupting American life and economy. I pointed at terrorist acts in Israel as an anecdote of what terrorism looks like on a weekly basis. America is a free society. Consequently, America is filled with "soft targets" -- places that can be filled with horror in a moment through acts of violence.

I pointed out places that fill up with people on a daily or weekly basis. I pointed at churches, synagogues, schools, colleges, restaurants, hospitals, movie theaters, shopping centers, grocery stores, concerts, parades, sporting events, work places, airports, passenger trains and other places where Americans congregate in relatively large numbers. I proposed that a coordinated set of simultaneous terrorist acts at these "soft targets" could create a maximum amount of terror and cause Americans to stay home and away from stores, jobs, restaurants, etc.

To counter those measures, I pointed that American immigration policy should be strengthened to be clear and uniformly applied to prevent groups, guns and jihadists from entering the borders. Moreover, I suggested that steps be taken to verify identity and legal residency with each major use of identification (e.g., traffic stops, voting, rent, job seeking, loans, etc.).

Since then, we have witnessed shootings or attempted shootings in schools, movie theaters and workplaces. However, these have been isolated events and not coordinated by jihadists (with the possible exception of shootings at bases and a military recruiting office). While we can be thankful that it has been fewer acts of violence, these events have shown that acts of violence like this could be easily perpetrated against Americans at "soft targets."

Like you said, this happens every week in Israel. Law enforcement and intelligence agencies in Israel take steps to stop it -- but it still happens on a weekly (or even daily) basis. I'm concerned that such things could easily happen in the loosely controlled borders and rampant identity theft within the United States. I have a neighbor who is an illegal immigrant from Central America. He has been arrested for several crimes (i.e., two hit and runs, identity theft and vehicular theft) and he has been deported twice over the last few years but returns within a week or two.

Oddly enough, I have seen several comparisons between Islamic fundamentalists and hate-filled groups like Westboro Baptist Church. The difference, I think, is that the Westboro cult, as hateful and vile as they might be, don't actually kill people. Moreover, they are so fractional of a representation of Christianity (about 90-120 members who fly around America with their silly demonstrations) versus the 350 Million Muslim fundamentalists who take a very literal interpretation of Islam to the point of believing that violence is an acceptable form of furthering the interests of Islam.

I am not sure how Islam plays in Biblical prophecy. I have read things that try to indicate the role that the writer feels that Islam will play in the last days; however, I just can't guess with any sort of certainty the role that Islam will play. I sort of think that the Antichrist will either try to merge religions together under a single false messiah or Islam will largely diminish in terms of fundamental adherence by the time the Antichrist takes control. Then again, the Antichrist might gain power by destroying forces of Islam that threaten Israel. These, of course, are little more than conjecture. I know that it is unpopular among some believers, but I do believe that the modern state of Israel is a central player in Biblical prophecy.

Alas, the day has left me with simple prayers that many people affected by these terrorists acts will turn to Christ. The real enemy, after all, is not Islamic fundamentalists but "against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places" (Ephesians 6:12).

this will be a two part post, because right now, its zero dark hundred....I awoke at midnight, and have MANY house chores to do, so I will just share a few things with you now, because you wrote this:

" I know that it is unpopular among some believers, but I do believe that the modern state of Israel is a central player in Biblical prophecy."

as we might have discussed before, you are aware that I probably am the youngest person to go thru the DoD's DLI school, in the Korean language, and the youngest to hold a TS/Codeword clearance.

After several years, probably the most tense years in Korea, since the war, this would be during President Carters tenure, you are well aware, he made a decision, later reversed, thru our "product" delivered daily to the President. The prior decision he made was to withdrawal the last combat division on the Korean peninsula, the 2nd ID, which was precisely the wrong message to give the DPRK. My last year, I was sent back the base to in Maryland, that sits aside an alphabet agency I wont name, but I know you know.

This was 1980, and without detail, let me just say, I did not appreciate either the "culture" there, nor what was happening "under the covers"....that's all i'll say, so when my four years were up, I took my honorable discharge. Since the age of 7, it had been in my heart to emigrate to Israel anyway, i'll get into that into later.

Within the American defense/intel establishment there are only three men I have any respect and admiration for; Colin Powell (who fell on the grenade at the UN when ordered to by POTUS) Admiral "Fox" Fallon (google fallon esquire, and read the first entry, the Admiral was once CENTCOM CO) and Richard Clarke, who was the only high ranking official to apologize PUBLICALLY for the failure of the "community" to stop the attacks on 11 Sep 2001...such abasement is what a REAL MAN does..

now I want to link you to an interview Richard Clarke gave to a pair of youthful alt media journalists about some of the events on 11 Sep 2001, this is NO "conspiracy" theory, its just the CounterTerr head at the WH, telling what he knew and what he didn't know, Dick Clarke served under 4 presidents, both Dem/Repub as you know (brother Greg, i'm not trying to be rebellious, I just want Chris to see this, when he does, I will be happy to excise it...there is nothing untoward IN the clip, just some truth about what this leader knew and didn't know)
only 14,000 people have seen this
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IzP9YJpBubk

as far as your in class thesis, you are more correct than you know. I want to buy a fictional book, "Day of Wrath", about an attack the author spools out that is absolutely horrendous, it will buttress EXACTLY your thesis.

the ONLY comfort is this; the arabs don't have the operational capability to pull off a LARGE scale coordinated attack as posited in this tome, if they did, the tragic events in Paris would be 10 times greater....or after 9/11, if it was as advertised, they would have had B, C, D, E, F attacks already to go. One doesn't play chess only one move ahead, you think 6 moves forward, obviously they don't

and lastly this morning, rent or purchase the film "Body of Lies" (2009) This film is the closet you will come to what really happens in the ME...its not boring, its quite illuminating.....youtube the trailer, trust me though, you will WANT to see this.

i'm weary and next post i'll testify where God has told me this all is leading to, which is about two steps away from global war.

God love you richly, neil

Father I pray that as a result of this tragedy there will be a mighty prayer movement that will awaken in France. I pray dear God for revival to come about in that nation because of this tragedy. Father I pray that out of tragedy you bring the triumph of Christ over Paris and over France. Awaken your faith bride remnant in France to cry out for souls in their nation. Chris, I believe two of your conjectures to be true. I see the emergence already of the great whore church where all three monotheistic religions combine. Islam, Christianity and Judaism. When that happens I believe all " fundamentalists," will be crushed. The real target will be genuine saints, but under the auspices of the anti-christ fundamentalism will be crushed and the world will cheer as " peace," is restored to a chaotic world. The leaders of these three religions will point out to the world that they actually have one common God and one founding father, Abraham. We are already headed there slowly and surely, yet some kind of cataclysmic event or events could get us there quicker, but the most important part is already in place, the mindset of the people............bro Frank

It seems to me all this jihadism is an early manifestation of the fourth and final beast of Daniel's prophecies - this beast "different from all the beasts that were before it" will be dreadful and terrifying and extrememly strong and it will devour and crush and trample many under its feet. (Daniel 7:7) Even now the spirit of the little horn seeks to pluck up and destroy with nor regard for life or conscience. It's gonna be a hard road I think.

Nothing but prayer for those in Paris.

Good biblical point!
In 1 John 5:19 we read: "and that the whole world lies in the power of the evil one."
Matthew Henry writes:
"All mankind are divided into two parties or dominions; that which belongs to God, and that which belongs to the wicked one. True believers belong to God: they are of God, and from him, and to him, and for him; while the rest, by far the greater number, are in the power of the wicked one; they do his works, and support his cause This general declaration includes all unbelievers, whatever their profession, station, or situation, or by whatever name they may be called

Happy are those to whom it is given to know that the Son of God is come, and to have a heart to trust in and rely on him that is true!
To this living and true God, be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen."

May we not stop to pray that many more people experience the only answer, Jesus the Son of the living God, the Light of the world in these dark days.

I do agree that our enemy is the devil. And he will use any number of avenues to wreak his evil upon the world. But at the risk of being accused of Islamophobia. I must wonder about the rise of Islam particularly in Europe.

I recently watched a YouTube video which shows the declining birth rates of the traditional European population. And the rise of Islam through immigration. Bear in mind this video was put out about 5 or 6 years ago. Even then the information was quite disturbing. Muslim leaders in the Middle East were making statements that Europe would be considered and Islamic continent somewhere around 2050.

Bearin mind now the current immigration crisis coming out of Syria and Iraq. As well as from other Middle Eastern countries. It is estimated that by the end of 2016 the number of Muslim refugees will reach well over 1 million. Another thing to note most of the refugees coming into Europe are not families. But they are men.

There are concerns that ISIS is embedding jihadists among the refugees. Given what has happened in Paris one begins to wonder.

YouTube videos show Muslim men who came to Germany as refugees running through the streets of various communities. They shout slogans such as give us money. And we will impregnate your women. Again one begins to wonder.

The declining rates of traditional populations are not just confined to Europe. But even here in North America. It 1970 it was estimated that there were only a few hundred thousand Muslims. By 2015 the number has risen to I believe over 9 million. Again I could be off on these figures. But demographers have shone through statistical models that Muslims will become the dominant population in America by around 2050 if not earlier.

It could be argued that Muslims are immigrating to Europe and America for a better life. Several years ago this might have been true. But now the Islamic agenda may have a motive of conquest. But not necessarily conquest through force. But conquest through increased birth rates to take over a nation or continent.

In times past I would have dismissed this as a conservative right wing plot. But statistical models born out by recent events would suggest that Islam has an agenda of world domination.

I do not know how specifically Islam will play into the end time events. But I do not believe that we can discount the rising tide of Islam and not say it will not have a significant place to play in the close out of redemptive history.

Simply my thoughts from the bear cave on a rainy fall morning.

Bearmaster.

Hi Christopher,

Just a short comment or thought on this statement you made.

"I pointed out places that fill up with people on a daily or weekly basis. I pointed at churches, synagogues, schools, colleges, restaurants, hospitals, movie theaters, shopping centers, grocery stores, concerts, parades, sporting events, work places, airports, passenger trains and other places where Americans congregate in relatively large numbers. Moreover, I suggested that steps be taken to verify identity and legal residency with each major use of identification (e.g., traffic stops, voting, rent, job seeking, loans, etc.). "

As I read your post I found my mind drawn to the last days and what we should expect. Of course there are many thoughts on this but I would like to share this one.

As I read this portion I was thinking of the mark of the beast and the total control of the people that would come with that. Needing a quick and ‘secure’ way of identifying large groups of people say in to a stadium or other facility something more than a card or papers, which can be either stolen or counterfeited , would be needed. One of the first thing mentioned in France after this tragedy was for the people to make sure their ID documents were safe.

We know the Lord is in true control in these matters to work His will. This all must in some way come to pass, if it’s not Islam then who or what?

As you stated in the end of your post though; Ephesians 6:12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

Thanks

Hi Submitted1,

Thank you for your comments. I agree that the mark could very well be an exploitation of national or even international "security" -- especially if real Christians are eventually targeted as "enemies" of the state.

When I was a teenager, I was asked by our pastor to help with some computers that were being installed at our local church's school by a local IT company. The guy sent to install and network the computers wasn't a believer.

During the installation process, we spoke about several topics -- including Bible prophecy. I mentioned the "mark of the beast" and how it could relate to advances in technology.

At one point, I mentioned the possibility of a "mark" that is actually a chip or implanted code on the right hand or forehead that could replace paper money, credit cards, debit cards, driver's licenses, social security cards, etc.

The computer tech replied, "Wow! That is a great idea! You will never have to worry about being mugged or losing your money or credit cards!"

Governments are often looking for ways to improve national security. It is certainly possible that the Antichrist will exploit such goals by mingling this desire for national or international security with a "mark" of allegiance or "belonging" to a particular government.

In this sense, the mark would be something of a reverse from the marks forced upon Jews by Nazis -- but with a similar purpose. Instead of odiously singling out those who are marked, it is possible that the Antichrist would single out those who don't willingly take that mark as the "enemies of society."

Paul was certainly prophetic when he wrote to the Thessalonians. He said in the final days they will be saying peace and safety. Then destruction will come upon them suddenly as a woman with labor pains. If the Islamic attacks continue to increase this is what people will be crying out for, peace and safety.

This is what happened after 9/11. As a result of the terrorist attacks. Patriot Act one and two were passed. The result was supposedly more security for the homeland. But American citizens were giving up some of their freedom. Anyone who spoke out against the acts were labeled as friends of the terrorists.

I can see how a political leader could emerge. The idea of a law abiding citizen having some type of a chip implanted on their right hand or forehead to show loyalty to the state. After all if you're a good law abiding citizen why would you resist such a thing. I'm sure the terrorist attacks will be used ultimately to enforce more control over those who are law-abiding. Under the guise of providing them security.

Brothers simply my thoughts.

Interesting topic, like you I have read similar population projections. What I can say is that in some areas around Detroit and the Twin Cities there is a very predominant Muslim population. Just Like in Texas(Muslims tried anyway but thus far unsuccessful) what I see as happening in the USA is some communities where the rule of Law is sharia law. When I considered the problem of immigration in the US the best solution is really a simple one, immigration from South America/Central America/Mexico if properly Vetted would act as a counterbalance to the Muslim movement in America as long as it was very controlled.

Quote"I do not know how specifically Islam will play into the end time events. But I do not believe that we can discount the rising tide of Islam and not say it will not have a significant place to play in the close out of redemptive history."
I fully agree with you here.I always felt that when the American dream stops being the American dream than we would see the real nature of all the unchecked illegal immigrants that have come to this country.Probably to late by than. To some extent we are seeing it in the drug trade presently.
I don't believe America will be a influencing factor in the Tribulation period as I believe it will have been laid waste in large portions of the landscape and maybe be like a third world nation that just seems to sit in the background pretty much ignored and forgotten.

David I do agree with your assessment. At this point I don't profess to have a solution to the immigration issue. I am aware of that Obama wants to bring in 10,000 Syrians into this country. And the FBI says they don't have the resources to vet them as quickly as Obama wants. I believe he wants to fast track them and get them in here in 4 months. I was just listening to the news that one of the attackers in Paris probably used a passport and pass himself off as a refugee from Syria. Hence the concern for the Syrians coming into this nation.

There are several state governors who have said they will not accept Syrians. Probably because they cannot be vetted. I can't say I blame them.

On the other hand the State Department has said that they will not grant refugee status to the Christians who have been victimized by ISIS. The Obama administration does not recognize Christiane being persecuted by ISIS as refugees. Yet these are the ones who would not be coming in as your jihadists. But would assimilate into American society. Work and pay taxes. But for some reason the president favors Muslims over Christiane. Sure does bring out the conspiratorial side of me. Ok don't want to violate the SI Guidelines:):).

Anyway just a few thoughts.

It is amazing to me how most reasonable believers accept that much of Revelation is figurative language (the dragon, the Beast, the "Whore of Babylon” , the horns, the mark of Christ upon the elect, stars falling to the earth, etc) but then fall all over themselves to show how the mark must be a literal chip implant, tattoo etc.

Being marked on hand or forehead denotes loyalty/devotion. Check out Exodus 13:9 and Deut 6:8.

S

As Paul rejected false gospels we must reject them.

The only distinguishing mark of a genuine Christian is the manifestation of the life and character of Jesus Christ in their life. The mark of a true Christian is not the mark of outward circumcision, but a circumcision of the heart and a sealing of the Holy Spirit. A Christian has no mark of racial superiority, exclusive religious group they belong to or nationalistic heritage. They are not marked by outward religious appearance or practices. The Christian has no need of these marks which are not becoming of a child of God, partaker of grace and an ambassador of Jesus Christ.

On the other hand, the mark of religious Babylon, the Great whore is on many people. This is the mark of the Beast and this distinguishing mark reflects the character and nature of Satan as it is a mark that is known by external appearance, a form of godliness, division, exclusivity, pride and boastfulness, love of money and a competitive accumulation of disciples as it competes with other religious structures and perpetuates disunity.

People have been used as pawns and trophies by the religious system for millenia as they "desire to make a good showing in the flesh" (Gal 6:12). Paul fought this false gospel in Galatia and noted that "they desire to have you circumcised (marked) that they may boast in your flesh". The Judaizers were not seeking the best interests of the Galatian Christians, but they were only looking for self-serving bragging rights and salvaging their religious system.

If you are looking for a mark, don't look for it from the world. Look to religious Babylon. Look to the religionists.

Paul knew what the mark of the beast of religion looked like. And he knows what the mark of Jesus Christ is, too. And he fought those who attempted to mark the true disciples with the corrupt mark of religious bondage through false gospels, causing them to fall from grace. (Gal 6:17 From henceforth let no man trouble me: for I bear in my body the marks of the Lord Jesus)

Outward conformity is important to religion. Religion is about morals and belief systems and their followers are identified by what they do with their "hands" regarding their "moral" activity and by what belief systems they give their thoughts (heads) to. Religion is also about men, personalities (other than the Person of Jesus Christ). Religion has branded and stamped (marked) their followers and marks everything they think and do. Those who do not conform are ostracized economically and socially.

Christians that have fallen from grace and are walking by sight and not faith are no longer looking for a City whose builder and maker is God, but are looking for a physical city (religious structure) as they have been marked by religious Babylon.

Funny, how we are a spiritual people, inheriting a spiritual kingdom, serving a spiritual King, fighting spiritual battles, but religious Babylon is all about the physical and does not want people to glimpse the spiritual.

C
ccchhhrrriiisss

Hi TMK,

I'm not sure if you're referring to what I wrote. However, I do think that I made it clear that a physical mark is a POSSIBILITY. I would never declare that it is a physical mark, chip or anything like it. At the same time, I wouldn't declare it to be little more than an idea or acceptance of a false religious system either.

When it comes to eschatology, I think that most of us aren't quite as privileged as John. He saw those things clearly as he traveled through the "glass darkly" into the vantage point of eternity. We aren't quite so privileged. We are trapped in our mortal bodies and eyes -- spiritual and physical.

Unless we are blessed with first-hand spiritual revelation, all that we can do is make "spiritual" guesses.

That is not to say that we cannot rely upon spiritual wisdom. The Scriptures clearly state about the mark: "Here is wisdom. Let him who has understanding calculate the number of the beast, for the number is that of a man; and his number is six hundred and sixty-six" (Revelation 13:18 NASB). Of course, I have heard plenty of people use their "wisdom" to conclude that the number of the beast equated to Henry Kissinger, Ronald Wilson Reagan, George W. Bush, Barack Obama, the Ayatollah and plenty of other figures from recent history.

When it comes to figurative and literal rhetoric, I think that a vision can include both types of rhetoric. The Scriptures say that the Lord our God is a sun and shield -- but it isn't literal. Jesus is the Lamb of God -- but not a physical lamb (even if John saw a lamb in his revelation).

Revelation chapter 13 can have figurative rhetoric completing literal things in the same way that communion can include literally eating and drinking the elements without literally eating and drinking the body of Christ. Does that make sense? I think that it is very possible that the mark is literal -- whether a symbol on the hand or forehead or even some sort of modern technology. At the same time, it is also very possible that this is not the case. Either way, we avoid confusion by keeping our eyes and hearts focused upon Christ (but not yet literally on this side of the glass darkly though).

Brothers to hold to the notion that the mark is physical does not take away from a spiritual understanding of the book of Revelation. When John writes that no one could buy or sell unless he had the mark would certainly imply something physical. Yet as our brother Chris said we see through a glass darkly. We certainly do not have the vantage point that John had. But one thing we can be sure of. Jesus reigns. And Jesus will win. That we can be sure of.

Brothers simply my thoughts.

Chris-

I was not referring to you specifically but more in general. I always appreciate your posts.

My post comes off as a bit brash and for that I apologize.

Satan's mark is indeed physical, meaning it manifests for all to see (Matt 7:15-20). Likewise the "mark of Christ" manifests for all to see. Most all of Satan's counterfeits are physical in manifestation, though you need spiritual discernment to tell them apart from the "marks" of God. Most people seem to be deceived because they are always looking for something in the physical and Satan knows this and will give them what they seek. Satan seeks to duplicate all the spiritual things of God as he desires all people to worship ("abide in") him. All these counterfeits are geared to turning men away from Christ and walking by faith and towards him or his "ambassadors" and walking by sight.

The purpose of the Church is to manifest the Kingdom of God, not a worldly kingdom. Satan's counterfeit is to manifest a worldly kingdom. His counterfeits of the spiritual are indeed physical. The only relevance that the world knows is that which it can see and when the Church seeks to be relevant to the world, it has lost it's power and accepted the counterfeits of Satan. Little by little as the "frog in the water", the Church will accept the counterfeits of Satan in order to be relevant to the world and avoid persecution. Notice that Satan does not counterfeit the world, he counterfeits the things of God, for he still desires all men to worship him.

Jesus gave the key mark as to how one would be able to distinguish true Christians from false ones. He said, "Ye shall know them by their fruits.” (Matt 7:16,20; John 7:24). They will manifest the character and nature of Christ.

The false mark will manifest the character and nature of Satan.

Because Satan is obsessed with counterfeiting the things of God, I believe we should not deviate on the "mark of Satan" and look to the world for the counterfeit "mark of Christ". I believe Hagee, LaHaye and Lindsay have "missed the mark". Satan gives us what we want to see. David Wilkerson wrote a book on that. And you might want to listen to Milton Green's "The Mark of Satan and the Mark of Christ". It is on Sermonindex.

It may take me some time to filter through your post Brother J. But I'll get there:) As to the mark and the whole buy /sell thing of the end times?I may be wrong here but I do not believe that will apply as being all inclusive down to the smallest of populations, and in a broad sense I am not all together sure America will be here, or at least as an organized society. If there is much left here I am not sure what is left will be under the subjection of direct rule from the Anti-Christ( we maybe under China control), perhaps mainly the Old Roman Empire as to geography will be the area where the Mark will come into play, Europe...middle East Northern Africa.......
I doubt whether places like China or even Russia, South America etc.. will be directly affected by that policy of the "Mark". In that context I can see how events in Paris and the increase of Islam could move Europeans into such a state especially if a man was to rise with a practical solution to the immigration situation and could bring peace between all the players in that region of the world.

Brothers I ask you did not Jesus give us physical signs in Matthew 24, Mark 13, and Luke 21 to precede His return? A casual reading of Matthew 24 speak of the increase of wars, famines, earthquakes, persecutions, and so forth. It would be very hard to spiritualize these passages. Jesus gave very definite physical signs of His return. Thus it does not leave it hard to one's imagination that the mark could very well be a physical Mark.

Brothers simply my thoughts.

Yes, Bear, the Lord gave us physical signs and He gave us spiritual signs, too. Also, the Bible uses symbolic language to communicate spiritual realities. Types, metaphors, imagery, etc.

I just don't believe the "mark of the beast", is a computer chip. That's too obvious.

There are two people on earth right now. People under the rule of Christ and people under the rule of Satan. Saints and sinners. These both have the "mark" of their father on them, already.

France is a nation that has a 250 year history of rejecting Christianity at large. Hundreds of thousands of Hugenots have been expelled from France in centuries back. Born again Christians are far and few in between. Humanism is the prevailing state philosophy. Anything Christian is mocked, conservative morals and values held in low esteem. I believe radical Islam a rod of God's chastisement. Any country or people that God used to chastise others ultimately will face judgment themselves. Strange enough, most of the casualties were at a death metal concert and the musicians were the first to escape death ! Death metal is very sinistre, occult laden, obscene and satanistic. Nothing to toy around with.

Earlier this year, a 2 terrorists wiped out the office of Charlie Hebdo, one of the most obscene and blasphemous magazines in Europe, known for breaking taboos and shunning nothing and nobody. In response the population in France reacted huge support for the magazine, even identifying themselves with them by wearing all these "Je suis Charlie" batches.

As brutal and infathomable as these attacks are, does anyone understand what is going on here?

Jesus said in Luke 13:1-5
1 There were present at that season some that told him of the Galilaeans, whose blood Pilate had mingled with their sacrifices.
2 And Jesus answering said unto them, Suppose ye that these Galilaeans were sinners above all the Galilaeans, because they suffered such things?
3 I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish.
4 Or those eighteen, upon whom the tower in Siloam fell, and slew them, think ye that they were sinners above all men that dwelt in Jerusalem?
5 I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish.

These terrorists committed an atrocity of enormous proportions. My heart and my prayers are with my French neighbors and the victims families. May they cry out to God.
