I haven't been here in a while. I have been on facebook moderating and discussing issues like the return of Christ in my group finding faith.

We are 93 persons in this group mainly local people. But recently it has become a ghost town. IT is a shock to me because of all the trouble in the world and no one is responding anymore.

Now I have a question for anyone that wants to answer.

How many of you, have a knot-deep down in your gut, a knowing that the world is upside down and headed in the wrong direction?

A knot that is telling you that the match is closer to the fuse that will ignite Armageddon?

I have just finished reading a book by David Wilkerson, titled the "The Vision." All I can say is WOW! Written in 1973, it reads like today's news paper.

You can listen to it here:

Brother I have always had that deep down gut feeling that Jesus will be returning soon. As such my prayers are for more souls to come to Jesus. More souls to come to Jesus before that final trumpet sounds.

Blessings my brother. Be a faithful worker in his kingdom.

Reading "The Vision" will put a knot in anyones stomach thats for sure. The world is on a fast track to hell!!!

Jesus gave us the solution though...

"Therefore do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble." (Matt 6:34)

O
onemite

Oh yes, and part of me is hopeful of it.

Then I think of where it says in Amos 5, "Woe unto you that desire the day of the Lord! to what end is it for you? the day of the Lord is darkness, and not light" because I am not ready. Lately, I am not as steadfast in pursuing my relationship with God. I am not ready for the day of the Lord.
But yes, I discern that the day is at hand, and if it tarries, it certainly will come to me when I die, and I don't know when that will be. I must be and we must all be found in peace and in faith.

Amen brother William.

It is really amazing how relevant the things Wilkerson was sharing and how many things have already come to pass.

We must be sobered and realize that we are near the end of all things. What the wise did was take oil in their lamps (Matthew 25:4). It is time to start living as if eternity were soon and investing our time and life in that direction. He who loses his life now will save it for eternity. May we spend our time abiding with Jesus and sharing Him with others.

"Then He said to them, "Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. And there will be great earthquakes in various places, and famines and pestilences; and there will be fearful sights and great signs from heaven." - Luke 21:10-11

"And there will be signs in the sun, in the moon, and in the stars; and on the earth distress of nations, with perplexity, the sea and the waves roaring; men’s hearts failing them from fear and the expectation of those things which are coming on the earth, for the powers of the heavens will be shaken. Then they will see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with power and great glory. Now when these things begin to happen, look up and lift up your heads, because your redemption draws near.” - Luke 21:25-28

Son,

You ask a question that challenges me, one that I have pondered a lot.

Since I was a young teen - am now 69 YO - I took an interest in current, world events. Churchmen have decried the apostasy as long as I remember and from reading a long time before that. Knowledgeable people have been warning others of Jesus imminent return and he still tarries. Were they wrong or what?

Then I suspect there must be one particular event that has not been fulfilled that is preventing Jesus return.

In any case, we live in dangerous times and it has always been such - we are at war, the church has always been at war and we get weary. We become exasperated with the battle for the devil seems to be making serious headway because the so-called church is aligning itself with him in doing battle with the saints.

It is when you thought decent people would surely not embrace this 'perversion' but it has and is. Somehow it seems to me this would have to be the tipping point in ushering in severe judgement.

In any case, Jesus may return for us individually. There are many who wake up each morning who end up in eternity with no idea this is how their day would end. This is what I am concerned about at the moment.

Yes,I understand your concern, sonsigns.

Hi Sandra,
I concur very much with a lot of your sentiments. I think the older I get the less I "froth" at the mouth over the end times rhetoric. It's not that I think any of it is wrong, it's just that I don't dwell on any of it as much as I use to. I now find myself dwelling on Jesus and seeking to remain devoted to Him as my first love,

I've often wondered how it is that the rich man in hell was told that if his brothers ignored Moses and the prophets then they would not be persuaded by someone rising from the dead. In some ways this is true about end times warnings. If they don't want Jesus then they are not going to be moved towards God by these other things. Yet as many people have learned, these matters tickle itching ears and sell lots of books. Many use end times rhetoric to further their agendas and that is sad. Attempting to get people to follow Jesus by stirring their intellect over end times stuff will never work. This fruit will not remain.

As you so rightly pointed out, at any moment we may experience our own personal "second coming of Jesus", when our heart stops beating:-)

For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men, Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world; Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ; Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works. These things speak, and exhort, and rebuke with all authority. Let no man despise thee.

Looking for the blessed hope is not incompatible nor mutually exclusive to loving Jesus as our first love, in fact quite the opposite I would say..............bro Frank

Bro Mark,

You wrote ....

"It's not that I think any of it is wrong, it's just that I don't dwell on any of it as much as I use to. I now find myself dwelling on Jesus and seeking to remain devoted to Him as my first love."

To which I replied......

"Looking for the blessed hope is not incompatible nor mutually exclusive to loving Jesus as our first love, in fact quite the opposite I would say."

Just a clarification to your thought lest anyone would think that somehow you cannot focus on Jesus and focus on His returning at the same time. His returning is, as the Sriptures say " A blessed hope," and on that I am sure we agree. God bless you brother...........bro Frank

S

Hi brother Frank,
Thanks for clarifying what you meant.

I was not referring to the blessed hope of being "forever with the Lord" one day, but the obsession over last days/end times issues.

And this was in response to Sandras post, so the context should have been clear.

Actually the scripture you quoted made my point. We are encouraged to look to the grace of God (Jesus) that brings salvation...teaching us to deny ungodliness and worldly lusts, live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world.

These are the things that should look to, to Him.

He should obsess us, not all the "signs of the times" stuff.

The obsession that some believers have with end times/last days subjects seems to outweigh their obsession with Jesus. That's just a casual observation and I am not thinking about anyone in particular.

Look at the book sales for example. Jonathon Cahn can write ear tickling "last days" fiction and the christian world gobbles it up. Couple this with the countless websites and stories devoted to end times issues and conspiracy theories and Walmarts with barbed wire on their roof and Sep 2015 false-prophecies and on and on...you get the point.

So many getting worked up about the wrong things.

I wrote a long post about this in the thread about why few people post on this forum.

Blessings brother!

Bro Mark,

Can you give us examples of people on this site, after all this is where we are, who are obsessed with end times things and who seem to be neglecting their first love?. Is this what you are trying to say? This seems to be the lesson you are trying to teach, perhaps I am way off base, can you expand on it so that we all know where you are coming from? If you mean conspiracy theorists and preppers and all that nonsense then I would definately agree wholeheartedly with you, but what the end of ages means is that Christ is coming and that is glorious and the Scripture that I quoted alluded to the blessed hope of His second coming, His appearing. Consider the cross reference passage ....

"2Ti 4:8 Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.

Matthew Henry says of this passage ................

Observe, It is the character of all the saints that they love the appearing of Jesus Christ: they loved his first appearing, when he appeared to take away sin by the sacrifice of himself (Heb_9:26); they love to think of it; they love his second appearing at the great day; love it, and long for it: and, with respect to those who love the appearing of Jesus Christ, he shall appear to their joy; there is a crown of righteousness reserved for them, which shall then be given them. (Matthew Henry)

I tend to agree with that and the people that I know personally Mark who consider these things and the times in which we live are singularly devoted to and love Him and long for His appearance. On that I am sure we shall agree..... bro Frank

Not pushing any issue bro Mark, just responding and asking for clarification on comments you made for the sake of clarity. I do not consider it a personal attack on me. I did not think you were perfectly clear and was asking for clarification and counterbalancing your own view which of course you are perfectly entitled to. Even if I do disagree with you bro, it would not be personal, just responding to the words you write. Is that okay?

By the way, I have barked up many a wrong tree in my time :) I am glad you do not believe that those kinds of barbed wire gun toting preppers are on SI. I do know of folks who are armed to the teeth because of apocalyptic fears, thats a whole other world bro, or maybe Texas :) .........bro Frank

Brothers,

I believe to rob in anyway our looking towards the coming of the Lord will gut out the majority of the hope and life of faith. We are pilgrims seeking a city that is to come when Jesus comes back. Of course as some have pointed out well there is a false way of making stories, fables and ear-tickling theories that does not produce godliness or the life of faith in anticipating the Lord and heaven. Yet it should not be strange that the majority of cults have an end times focus as they are trying to pervert one of the most important elements of the Christian walk and our living in light of the coming of our Lord.

Our Lord does clearly tell us that we should be aware, in general, about the signs of the times and we cannot put our head in the sand in anyway. Reading the book of revelation, matthew 24 and 1 and 2 Thessalonians where foundational to my early walk with the Lord, as with most other believers we read the entire New Testament and see alot of emphasis on the coming of the Lord. I personally think we do not think of it enough in modern evangelical churches and I am not referring to a quick theory of a secret rapture but clear biblical practical teaching on major passages of Scripture about the second coming.

It should not seem strange that in government controlled churches like in China it is forbidden to emphasis and speak on the Second coming of Jesus Christ.

I personally think every believer should read and re-read Matthew 24-25. May we look at it as simply as a child and not seek to be carried away with millions of details and conjectures.

Matthew 24New King James Version (NKJV)

Jesus Predicts the Destruction of the Temple
24 Then Jesus went out and departed from the temple, and His disciples came up to show Him the buildings of the temple. 2 And Jesus said to them, "Do you not see all these things? Assuredly, I say to you, not one stone shall be left here upon another, that shall not be thrown down.”

The Signs of the Times and the End of the Age
3 Now as He sat on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to Him privately, saying, "Tell us, when will these things be? And what will be the sign of Your coming, and of the end of the age?”

4 And Jesus answered and said to them: "Take heed that no one deceives you. 5 For many will come in My name, saying, ‘I am the Christ,’ and will deceive many. 6 And you will hear of wars and rumors of wars. See that you are not troubled; for all[a] these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet. 7 For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. And there will be famines, pestilences,[b] and earthquakes in various places. 8 All these are the beginning of sorrows.

9 "Then they will deliver you up to tribulation and kill you, and you will be hated by all nations for My name’s sake. 10 And then many will be offended, will betray one another, and will hate one another. 11 Then many false prophets will rise up and deceive many. 12 And because lawlessness will abound, the love of many will grow cold. 13 But he who endures to the end shall be saved. 14 And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in all the world as a witness to all the nations, and then the end will come.

The Great Tribulation
15 "Therefore when you see the ‘abomination of desolation,’[c] spoken of by Daniel the prophet, standing in the holy place” (whoever reads, let him understand), 16 "then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains. 17 Let him who is on the housetop not go down to take anything out of his house. 18 And let him who is in the field not go back to get his clothes. 19 But woe to those who are pregnant and to those who are nursing babies in those days! 20 And pray that your flight may not be in winter or on the Sabbath. 21 For then there will be great tribulation, such as has not been since the beginning of the world until this time, no, nor ever shall be. 22 And unless those days were shortened, no flesh would be saved; but for the elect’s sake those days will be shortened.

23 "Then if anyone says to you, ‘Look, here is the Christ!’ or ‘There!’ do not believe it. 24 For false christs and false prophets will rise and show great signs and wonders to deceive, if possible, even the elect. 25 See, I have told you beforehand.

26 "Therefore if they say to you, ‘Look, He is in the desert!’ do not go out; or ‘Look, He is in the inner rooms!’ do not believe it. 27 For as the lightning comes from the east and flashes to the west, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be. 28 For wherever the carcass is, there the eagles will be gathered together.

The Coming of the Son of Man
29 "Immediately after the tribulation of those days the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light; the stars will fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens will be shaken. 30 Then the sign of the Son of Man will appear in heaven, and then all the tribes of the earth will mourn, and they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. 31 And He will send His angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they will gather together His elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.

The Parable of the Fig Tree
32 "Now learn this parable from the fig tree: When its branch has already become tender and puts forth leaves, you know that summer is near. 33 So you also, when you see all these things, know that it[d] is near””at the doors! 34 Assuredly, I say to you, this generation will by no means pass away till all these things take place. 35 Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will by no means pass away.

No One Knows the Day or Hour
36 "But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven,[e] but My Father only. 37 But as the days of Noah were, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be. 38 For as in the days before the flood, they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noah entered the ark, 39 and did not know until the flood came and took them all away, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be. 40 Then two men will be in the field: one will be taken and the other left. 41 Two women will be grinding at the mill: one will be taken and the other left. 42 Watch therefore, for you do not know what hour[f] your Lord is coming. 43 But know this, that if the master of the house had known what hour the thief would come, he would have watched and not allowed his house to be broken into. 44 Therefore you also be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect.

The Faithful Servant and the Evil Servant
45 "Who then is a faithful and wise servant, whom his master made ruler over his household, to give them food in due season? 46 Blessed is that servant whom his master, when he comes, will find so doing. 47 Assuredly, I say to you that he will make him ruler over all his goods. 48 But if that evil servant says in his heart, ‘My master is delaying his coming,’[g] 49 and begins to beat his fellow servants, and to eat and drink with the drunkards, 50 the master of that servant will come on a day when he is not looking for him and at an hour that he is not aware of, 51 and will cut him in two and appoint him his portion with the hypocrites. There shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

Matthew 25New King James Version (NKJV)

The Parable of the Wise and Foolish Virgins
25 "Then the kingdom of heaven shall be likened to ten virgins who took their lamps and went out to meet the bridegroom. 2 Now five of them were wise, and five were foolish. 3 Those who were foolish took their lamps and took no oil with them, 4 but the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps. 5 But while the bridegroom was delayed, they all slumbered and slept.

6 "And at midnight a cry was heard: ‘Behold, the bridegroom is coming;[a] go out to meet him!’ 7 Then all those virgins arose and trimmed their lamps. 8 And the foolish said to the wise, ‘Give us some of your oil, for our lamps are going out.’ 9 But the wise answered, saying, ‘No, lest there should not be enough for us and you; but go rather to those who sell, and buy for yourselves.’ 10 And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came, and those who were ready went in with him to the wedding; and the door was shut.

11 "Afterward the other virgins came also, saying, ‘Lord, Lord, open to us!’ 12 But he answered and said, ‘Assuredly, I say to you, I do not know you.’

13 "Watch therefore, for you know neither the day nor the hour[b] in which the Son of Man is coming.

The Parable of the Talents
14 "For the kingdom of heaven is like a man traveling to a far country, who called his own servants and delivered his goods to them. 15 And to one he gave five talents, to another two, and to another one, to each according to his own ability; and immediately he went on a journey. 16 Then he who had received the five talents went and traded with them, and made another five talents. 17 And likewise he who had received two gained two more also. 18 But he who had received one went and dug in the ground, and hid his lord’s money. 19 After a long time the lord of those servants came and settled accounts with them.

20 "So he who had received five talents came and brought five other talents, saying, ‘Lord, you delivered to me five talents; look, I have gained five more talents besides them.’ 21 His lord said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant; you were faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord.’ 22 He also who had received two talents came and said, ‘Lord, you delivered to me two talents; look, I have gained two more talents besides them.’ 23 His lord said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant; you have been faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord.’

24 "Then he who had received the one talent came and said, ‘Lord, I knew you to be a hard man, reaping where you have not sown, and gathering where you have not scattered seed. 25 And I was afraid, and went and hid your talent in the ground. Look, there you have what is yours.’

26 "But his lord answered and said to him, ‘You wicked and lazy servant, you knew that I reap where I have not sown, and gather where I have not scattered seed. 27 So you ought to have deposited my money with the bankers, and at my coming I would have received back my own with interest. 28 Therefore take the talent from him, and give it to him who has ten talents.

29 ‘For to everyone who has, more will be given, and he will have abundance; but from him who does not have, even what he has will be taken away. 30 And cast the unprofitable servant into the outer darkness. There will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.’

The Son of Man Will Judge the Nations
31 "When the Son of Man comes in His glory, and all the holy[c] angels with Him, then He will sit on the throne of His glory. 32 All the nations will be gathered before Him, and He will separate them one from another, as a shepherd divides his sheep from the goats. 33 And He will set the sheep on His right hand, but the goats on the left. 34 Then the King will say to those on His right hand, ‘Come, you blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world: 35 for I was hungry and you gave Me food; I was thirsty and you gave Me drink; I was a stranger and you took Me in; 36 I was naked and you clothed Me; I was sick and you visited Me; I was in prison and you came to Me.’

37 "Then the righteous will answer Him, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see You hungry and feed You, or thirsty and give You drink? 38 When did we see You a stranger and take You in, or naked and clothe You? 39 Or when did we see You sick, or in prison, and come to You?’ 40 And the King will answer and say to them, ‘Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these My brethren, you did it to Me.’

41 "Then He will also say to those on the left hand, ‘Depart from Me, you cursed, into the everlasting fire prepared for the devil and his angels: 42 for I was hungry and you gave Me no food; I was thirsty and you gave Me no drink; 43 I was a stranger and you did not take Me in, naked and you did not clothe Me, sick and in prison and you did not visit Me.’

44 "Then they also will answer Him,[d] saying, ‘Lord, when did we see You hungry or thirsty or a stranger or naked or sick or in prison, and did not minister to You?’ 45 Then He will answer them, saying, ‘Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did not do it to one of the least of these, you did not do it to Me.’ 46 And these will go away into everlasting punishment, but the righteous into eternal life.”

The second coming of our Lord is our blessed hope and part of the full gospel, its not an option that we can pick to be part of our doctrine, its essential to our hope and this hope should be like an incentive for us to encourage us to live in the NOW by faith and total surrender to Jesus moment by moment.

This has nothing to do with popular sensationalism of end time prophecies and false prophetic predictions that are so popular today among many evangelicals who are obsessed about the signs of the end times.

The end times started with the early apostolic church and we have been living in the end times for 2000 years but the end of the end times before Jesus returns as King is nearer now than ever and we should be vigilant and not be deceived by the enemy. We should humble ourselves and examine ourselves to make sure we are in Christ and that we our building our house on a solid rock and not on the sand.

I want to be found a faithful and good servant when the Lord comes and I have been so much unfaithful and wicked but in his mercy I hope for his grace to save me and keep me in His holy love and presence and not only that but that I may be equipped for every good work for the glory of God the Father.

We are called to a life of faith and to a life of total commitment to Christ and to be poured out wine and a broken bread as Oswald Chambers said and as we do the will of God for our lives, by faith filled with hope we should be looking and expecting for the blessed appearance of our Lord and Savior.

Talking about the second coming of our Lord should be an encouragement to us because we are talking about a person who loves us, saved us and is coming to redeem even our wretched bodies and give us eternal life.

Things like that should excite us because hope is part of the gospel not just faith and love. By faith we receive forgiveness of our sins, by that love that is shed in our hearts by the Holy Spirit we know him in a very intimate way and by our hope in Him we will be redeemed and glorified to the praise of His glory

As we know Christ and Him crucified we are getting prepared for the blessed hope of His second coming. If we are really in love with Him, we will talk of his amazing love he showed for us on the Cross, of his wonderful love He shows us in the present as we fellowship with Him and of his everlasting love that we will enjoy for ever in his presence when He comes back for us so that we will be forever with Him in a blessed union.

P.S - We don't have to be selfish or immature like little kids who love to dispute for the sake of the argument and not for the sake of building up each other in love and in our most holy faith because we are members of the same spiritual family. Every doctrine in Scripture if taken to an extreme or out of balance can be turned to an heresy or an idol, whether we talk of justification, sanctification or the second coming, if we don't keep in the center Christ and what He did for us at the cross. Everything that comes as a blessing to us is a benefit and grace we receive because he died for us on the Cross and He is risen and seated at the right hand of God and makes intercession for us that we too may overcome like Him and be faithful till He comes back for us, his Bride.

Tozers message on the Second Coming of Christ says everything I was trying to say but obviously a million times better. Our preoccupation must be about the coming King, not the events surrounding His return.

https://www.sermonindex.net/modules/mydownloads/visit.php?lid=649

"A. W. Tozer preaches on “The Second Coming of Christ” from John 14:1-3 and Hebrews 9:26-28, addressing the abuse of prophecy and overly elaborate eschatology. The problem is not so much error of doctrine as error of emphasis. A Fundamentalist himself, the pastor touches on the history of Fundamentalists and the trouble with increasingly detailed eschatology that has coincided with their emergence over the past 100 years. In spite of many Evangelicals’ dogmatic preoccupation with how to view the millennium, something has not changed and must never be forgotten: Jesus is coming back. Take heed. Beware. Watch. Worship the Christ who is returning in time, and not the details of that time itself."
