Bill O'Reilly categorizes born again Christians with ISIS

S
sermonindex

Brothers and sisters, this is part of the future for the saints. We will be categorized as haters and purveyors of hate speech. Remember this man is not part of some crazed left wing anti-christian group, he is very much in the camp of "conservative Christians." Religionists have always been the deadliest enemies of the saints and this spirit will come roaring back. This Catholic man puts " born-agains," in the same camp as fundamental muslim extremists......bro Frank

Now Frank.

The title if this thread is not accurate. If you listen to what Bill says he says that evangelicals believe that if you are not born again you go to hell, which of course is a true statement. But Catholics have been disturbed by this for 100s of years.

He specifically stated that only radical Muslims are out there killing people.

I have no idea where you get the idea he is comparing evangelicals with radical Islam when he specifically states that only radical Islamists are doing the killing.

Again, as a good Catholic he is duty bound to bash the born agains.

He interviewed mike pence last night who admitted he was an evangelical(Bill pushed him on this) and Bill didn't really seem upset by that at all.

S
sermonindex

Now Todd,

How did I know you would reply to this? Lucky guess :) Listen to what he says and you will clearly see that he categorizes born agains with radical Muslims, only difference being one group kills the other does not and he calls them both disturbing. So the title of the thread is spot on Todd.

"He interviewed mike pence last night who admitted he was an evangelical(Bill pushed him on this) and Bill didn't really seem upset by that at all."

Pence was not asked whether anyone who is not born again goes to hell. If asked and answered correctly, Bill would have a problem with that because then Pence would be saying that Bill was going to hell and Bill would have thrown him into the same category as ISIS as he clearly did on the video shown. Bit naive of you to think otherwise Todd or perhaps just deliberately obtuse?..............brother Frank

Having watched Bill fairly regularly over the years, I just think you are overstating his disdain for evangelicals. I don't think he disdains them anymore than any good Catholic.

S
sermonindex

He doesn't disdain evangelicals, they are his audience, he disdains the notion that unless a man is born again he cannot enter the Kingdom of heaven and anyone who says so is likened to Muslim radicals and Bill finds it all disturbing.......bro Frank

The distinction between the violent and the non-violent is already being blurred and will continue to be going forward.

Sounds like Mr. O'Reilly is a proponent of a type of "New Age"/"New Thought"/"Enlightenment"/"Illuminist" philosophy that is common in the occult and modern politics and philosophy...

Frank,

It is very obvious that Bill O’Reilly is not a born again Christian, but having watched his show many times, for the most part he defends Christians and is hated by many Muslims because he speaks the truth about the Muslim religion.

Frank, you never have liked the Fox News Network, and you have a bias against conservatives. This is very obvious from the discussions we have had in the past. You never have had anything good to say about President Bush.

The Fox News Network is far from perfect, but in my opinion Fox is needed to give an opposing view to the lies, deception, and distortion of the liberal news media, who backs and defends Barack Obama to the hilt. CNN and MSNBC despises
Born again Christians and their views about abortion and same sex marriage.

S

Mike, I shared a link where Bill O'Reilly is very disturbed by " born agains," and compares them to Radical Muslims and your reply to the piece is to take a couple of shots at me? That in itself is disturbing brother. Can it then be said that you have always been enamored of politics and right wing conservatives? So what if you have or not, you are simply my fellow born again brother and we will soon have a common enemy. The Lord is removing the scales from many eyes by reducing the political process in this country to a mere farce. God help anyone whose trust is in the arm of man and whose loyalties belong, not to the Body of Christ, but to a political point of view or party...........bro Frank

When we are in the death camps our disagreements on politics will be irrelevant. The only thing that will matter will be our gathering at the cross of the Lord Jesus Christ.

Persecution has a way of burning away the peripheral tissues and putting the cross before us.

Saints,

Watch the video and think carefully at his words:

[He just finishes talking about ISIS and finishes with:] "I know in certain christian religions that if you don't become born-again, you go to hell. They preach that! If you don't become born-again and accept Jesus as your Saviour, it doesn't matter who you are you're damned. So there are alot of things IN ALOT OF RELIGIONS THAT ARE DISTURBING, but we are not seeing alot of religions act out as we are seeing islamic zealots act out."

1. He is brainwashing people watching his TV show that believing people are going to hell is wrong or FANATICAL.

2. He is also saying that evangelicals who hold to that exclusive view are as extreme as ISIS but just NOT ACTING OUT.

It is as clear as day, Frank is right, we are going to be marginalized by most, maligned and unless we side with a lukewarm majority who are preaching a false Jesus we will be persecuted, jailed and treated as terrorists.

Jeff, I think a lot of Christians that are exposed to numerous, Pastors, and Christians that just toss fear into the air, some finally get fed up with it, the only thing left is to joke about it. I don't think for a moment Todd don't know the word and what the word say's, but like me I'm tired of the fear mongering among Christians. I know what the word says about the coming "everything" I don't need it thrown into my face everyday, I have other "good" things to think on. I don't need to listen to the downtrodden preach to me about all the bad to come. My Bible say's I shall have peace in the Lord."These things I have spoken to you, so that in Me you may have peace. In the world you have tribulation, but take courage; I have overcome the world." John 16:33

S

Bill. That's good stuff. Balanced and biblical and more importantly, agreeable to my understanding!

S

That's right Bill, you did not hear Daniel’s friends bemoaning the fiery furnace or putting pressure on Daniel to develop an escape plan from Babylon.

They would not be able to say the following if their hearts and minds were not stayed on God.

Daniel 3:16-18
Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, answered and said to the king, O Nebuchadnezzar, we are not careful to answer thee in this matter. If it be so, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and he will deliver us out of thine hand, O king. But if not, be it known unto thee, O king, that we will not serve thy gods, nor worship the golden image which thou hast set up.

Let come what may, my heart and mind will stay on Christ.

Isaiah 26:3
Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace,
whose mind is stayed on thee:
because he trusteth in thee.

That's fine. I can "text-proof" quote scripture (in context) too till the cows come home. But it just seems that the smart-alek sarcasm & the will to overtake anything may share in the form Of a warning doesn't come from above, but often from the pride of man. Seems like if "you don't have something good to say, you should say nothing at all" like my granny said. I wonder how many would stand and call the prophetic words & trumpet blast warnings of men like Art Katz, David Wilkerson, Paul Washer, Brian Long, etc., etc. & countless others here on SI & elsewhere with true prophetic unction "ridiculous". Or throw unrelated scriptures on not being afraid (when it's been continuously explained its not always peddling fear, but sometimes a watchman on the wall blowing a warning trumpet blast). I wonder how many Pharisees, scribes & teachers in John the Baptist's day would have sat him down and said, "now here, here crazy man. Look at the scripture in Joshua that says 'do not be afraid', etc.?" Or the example I mentioned Agabus' prophetic word of coming famine in Acts (but no one responded because there's no Biblical response or grounds to stand on to do so)? Or many other things said in scripture by Jesus & the apostles? But, whatever. Make sure you're speaking for God when you come against those warning. Make sure you're not "despising prophesies". It's a pretty serious issue. Presumption is not the same as wisdom. And discernment is not the same as criticism or fault-finding. Just things to remember.
God Bless,
Jeff

S

The scoffing and mocking of those sounding a trumpet remind me in a way of what Peter addresses in 2 Peter 3 (I know this is speaking of the Day of the Lord foretold and prophesies in the scriptures, but the same type of spirit can be embraced by those who don't want to hear a prophetic warning from the Lord through His prophets concerning coming persecution & judgement. If "it doesn't matter at all", then why would God even burn this into His prophets to share? Unless you honk Wilkerson, Katz, Washer, Long, Ravenhill, & countless others are ridiculous false prophets. Which if you do, why are you even here at SI?)

The Day of the Lord

1This is now the second letter that I am writing to you, beloved. In both of them I am stirring up your sincere mind by way of reminder, 2that you should remember the predictions of the holy prophets and the commandment of the Lord and Savior through your apostles, 3knowing this first of all, that scoffers will come in the last days with scoffing, following their own sinful desires. 4They will say, "Where is the promise of his coming? For ever since the fathers fell asleep, all things are continuing as they were from the beginning of creation.” 5For they deliberately overlook this fact, that the heavens existed long ago, and the earth was formed out of water and through water by the word of God, 6and that by means of these the world that then existed was deluged with water and perished. 7But by the same word the heavens and earth that now exist are stored up for fire, being kept until the day of judgment and destruction of the ungodly.

8But do not overlook this one fact, beloved, that with the Lord one day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. 9Thw Lord is not slow to fulfill his promise as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should reach repentance. 10But the day of the Lord will come like a thief, and then the heavens will pass away with a roar, and the heavenly bodies will be burned up and dissolved, and the earth and the works that are done on it will be exposed...."

T
TMK

The bottom line is that unfortunately some folks are obsessed with a persecution mentality and there is just no way that any such mentality can be found in Jesus, whatsoever.

I will say again for the 10,000th time that I do not disagree that persecution will increase. The only way to be prepared is to be close to the Lord. Speculations about FEMA death camps etc etc will do nothing for anyone.

M
MrBillPro

Todd, you're exactly right! and you know what would keep this all civil? if all Christians would somehow realize, everyone one of our destinations are the same, but we are just traveling different roads. I truly believe that the reason some folks are obsessed with a persecution mentality, because they want you to be exactly where they are, just like them, and be on the same road, and the same walk. I don't know about anyone else, but I've been persecuted all my life, am I supposed to start worrying about it now?

M

S

Amen and amen Bill and Todd!!

The fear of the Lord is a clean fear and I can tell the difference between a prophetic word and frantic, fearsome, fear mongering, frightfulness. So, I do not despise prophesies. Don't let anyone tell you what prophesies you are to believe... That is the Holy Spirits job.

When I read the New Testament and the lives of the Early Church and bear in mind the days and times they lived in, I certainly do not get a picture of people constantly obsessed with the bad things happening in the world around them. And to be sure, there was much to be frantic about if you were walking after the flesh and not after the Spirit.

The witness and testimony of Believers in that time was one of peace and joy and righteousness while the world around them was going mad and it should be no different, today. The world is still going mad, but we serve the same Victorious One. It's pretty cool that we can have peace in the midst of such upheaval and don't underestimate how huge a witness this is to the world (people) around us.

I refuse to be reactive and desire only to hear the Holy Spirit through men and for myself.

S

Julias writes......

"When I read the New Testament and the lives of the Early Church and bear in mind the days and times they lived in, I certainly do not get a picture of people constantly obsessed with the bad things happening in the world around them."

Take heed therefore unto yourselves, and to all the flock, over the which the Holy Ghost hath made you overseers, to feed the church of God, which he hath purchased with his own blood. For I know this, that after my departing shall grievous wolves enter in among you, not sparing the flock. Also of your own selves shall men arise, speaking perverse things, to draw away disciples after them. Therefore watch, and remember, that by the space of three years I ceased not to warn every one night and day with tears.
(Act 20:28-31)

Wow, three years, night and day, all day long about wolves coming in and flocks not being spared. Hmmm, wonder how much of an ear Paul would get today if he knew his Lord was at the door and all day long he warned folks about it,like the parable Jesus spoke of the foolish virgins, probably be mocked I would imagine............bro Frank

PS, to speak of events to come or soon to come upon the Church does not denote fear. If you are fearful when you hear such things then there is more work you need to do with the Lord for have we not already considered ourselves dead to this world? Hopefully.

"Persecution has never hurt the church of Jesus Christ. Prosperity has often." - Paul Washer

So, like martyrdom when called to it, it's not a "good thing" humanly speaking, nor something to be sought, but it does achieve God's eternal purposes.

I'm not in fear. Not at all. Not sure how else to express that other than how I have extensively. And I'm not saying everything out there that proposes a "what if scenario" (the likes of Alex Jones Infowars or whatever) is a good thing or is from God (never said that either). What I have addressed since the beginning is the blanket statement responses and use of scripture is misapplied ways. And yes, calling what was clearly a prophetic word from Paul Washer (the Holy Spirit bearing witness) "ridiculous" & that scoffing, mocking, sarcastic attitude & misapplication, mischaracterization &/or misuse of scripture in context.

Anyways, I'm not whipping this dead horse anymore. God bless you all, but I'm out.

S
sermonindex

I'm not fearful at all, and I would have witnessed to what Paul said as it speaks to me, today. I have quoted that verse many times on SI. I see many wolves.

But, there are way too many obsessed with current events everyday, in a macabre kind of way and sometimes I think I detect gleefulness. Prophetic words that the Holy Spirit confirms to my spirit, I embrace.

S
sermonindex

Frank - excellent point.

Just curious Julius: "I have said verse that many times on SI. I see many wolves."

Really? Here on SI? Who? That's a bold and definitive statement & If there are actually really "many wolves" on SI, they should be called out as such for the sake of the flock, so I'm just curious which are all the many wolves you see?

And I saw no gleefulness in Paul Washer's words, & I too have the Holy Spirit and sensed weight in His words & you called them "ridiculous". That's concerning to me a bit honestly.

S
sermonindex

Did I say anything about wolves on SI? Thank you, I did not think so. You have a habit of "putting words in people's mouths because of your imaginations." You can see it in many of your posts.

Did I say anything about gleefulness in Paul Washers words? Again, you assume, just about accuse me of doing it. I am not talking about Paul Washer, you are. And I never said Paul Washer was ridiculous just that phrase. You don't believe me? Check it.

I have seen many wolves in 40 years and see many today. They are not hard to spot. I have heard many false prophecies, rooted in flesh and witnessed many believers being taken advantage of.

Matthew 18:6
But whoso shall offend one of these little ones which believe in me, it were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and that he were drowned in the depth of the sea.

Revelation 18:21
And a mighty angel took up a stone like a great millstone, and cast it into the sea, saying,
Thus with violence shall that great city Babylon be thrown down, and shall be found no more at all.

S
sermonindex

If I misunderstood you, I apologize. I was just looking at what you said (not attempting to put words in your mouth:

Quote:
"...I'm not fearful at all, and I would have witnessed to what Paul said as it speaks to me, today. I have quoted that verse many times on SI. I see many wolves.

But, there are way too many obsessed with current events everyday, in a macabre kind of way and sometimes I think I detect gleefulness...."

So maybe I did misunderstand what you said? It's possible, I'm not perfect. And I don't know about a pattern of "putting words in people's mouths"? I don't think so.

And
As far as Paul Washer's prophetic warning: you called it and I quote "ridiculous". So I'm not putting words in your mouth. Just attempting to understand the words you are writing. Sorry if I misunderstood the flow of the wolves part. If you didn't mean it that way, I misunderstood & read your words differently than you intended them.

But some of the things you've said, I don't know how else to read them then how you wrote them?
Anyways, no biggie - God Bless,
Jeff

Saints,

It is to live with our head in the sand to believe that greater persecution will not come to the West. We are living in a disneyland of sorts where all is happy and entertainment, the Church is not living to its normal standard of being salt and light which does bring opposition and persecution though we do not seek after it (Read Matthew 5).

There are obviously those that Julius is referring to that are putting fear on the saints to make money, they are surely wolves. Yet the true prophetic warning from God can come and we must be willing to receive it. Men like Ravenhill and Wilkerson faithfully warned the body of Christ for many years of persecution coming.

We can take heart:

Proverbs 3:25-26New International Version (NIV)

25 Have no fear of sudden disaster
or of the ruin that overtakes the wicked,
26 for the Lord will be at your side
and will keep your foot from being snared
