Dreams and Visions of Jesus Among Muslims???

S

Hebrews 2:1-4

For this reason, we must pay much closer attention to what we have heard. , So that we do not drift away from it. For if the word spoken through angels proved unalterable. And every transgression and disobedience received a just penalty; how will we escape? If we neglect so great a salvation? After it was first spoken through the Lord, it was confirmed to us by those who heard. God also testifying with them, come both by science and wanders. By various miracles and by gifts of the Holy Spirit abounding in his own will.

To the best of my knowledge, I don't think this topic has ever been addressed in the forum? That is dreams and visions that are bringing Muslims to Christ. I have read both books by Tom Doyle, Dreams and Visions and Killing Christians. In his books, Tom Doyle documents the occurrence of dreams and visions among Muslims that are bringing them to Christ. I might add Tom Doyle has worked and is still working as a missionary in the Middle East.

In praying for the persecuted church, I have seen youtube videos and read other accounts where Muslims have come out of darkness into the light of Christ by dream or a vision. Sometimes it will take many dreams and vision for a Muslim to work through. But to those Muslims who ultimately commit their life to Christ. They will be believers even as unto death. I have never heard of a Muslim who came to Christ through a dream or a vision. And later rejected Christ. Many times they understand that to commut to the Lord Jesus Christ will be a sentence of death.

So are the experiences of God speaking to Muslims in dreams and visions true. Are these valid ways in which God is speaking outside of His word?

Dr. John MacArthur is considered one of the foremost expositors of word of God in America. And perhaps around the world. Dr. McArthur is also the biggest proponent of cessationism. Below is an answer to a question that he was asked about dreams and visions among Muslims in the Middle East.

I copied and pasted the question and his answer below so that I will not be accused of taking it out of context. I did post breaks between the interviewer's questions and John McArthur's answer. For easier flow. Also, the entire interview can be seen under the heading. John McArthur Answers His Critics.

Interviewer's question

We often hear today that many believers from a Muslim background””especially those from closed countries who do not have easy access to God’s Word””are claiming they had a vision of Christ and that in this vision he directed them to a place or person where they could hear the gospel. This proclamation of the gospel led to their conversion. Do you believe these stories? Do you consider such visions a valid means that God may work in our world today?

J NacArthur answers...

There are several points that could be made in answer to this question. Let me begin with just a general comment about how to interpret experience. It is important to remember that, as Christians, we ought to develop our theology from Scripture and then interpret experience accordingly. Danger comes when believers get that backwards””allowing experience to define their theology, and then reinterpreting the Bible to make it fit.

With regard to these kinds of stories, I am always somewhat skeptical about third- and fourth-hand accounts of supposedly supernatural happenings. It’s not that I doubt the power of God to do whatever He wants. Obviously, He can (Psalm 115:3). But I question whether the story itself is an accurate record of what actually took place. Sometimes well-meaning people misinterpret what really happened. Sometimes second-hand stories are unintentionally exaggerated. And sometimes, sadly, people purposefully manufacture tall tales.

For example, there are unbelievers in false religions all over the world who claim to have received divine revelations or to have witnessed miracles. I don’t believe any of those things, because they are reported by people who do not truly know God.

Regarding the visions in question, it is important to recognize that those who have investigated such claims have found the evidence to be sorely lacking. For example, this article directly addresses the issue.

Now, don’t get me wrong, I am thrilled to hear that Muslims are coming to faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. That is remarkable, and I rejoice in that reality! Moreover, I would gladly affirm that their regeneration truly is a miracle (just as it is for every sinner), even if I would deny the notion that any previous dreams, impressions, or experiences were revelatory or miraculous.

I suppose that brings us to the crux of the matter. Do I believe that people in the Muslim world are actually seeing Jesus Christ? No, I do not. Paul stated in 1 Corinthians 15:8 that he was "the last of all” to see the risen Christ. So, I believe that precludes anyone outside of those listed in 1 Corinthians 15 of being able to claim legitimate visions of the resurrected Savior. (The apostle John, of course, was one of those included in 1 Corinthians 15. Accordingly, I don’t believe the book of Revelation sets a precedent for believers to expect genuine visions of Jesus to occur throughout church history.)

Furthermore, it is important to note that these individuals are still unbelievers when they reportedly have these experiences. Consequently, these experiences (whatever they are reported to be) cannot constitute examples of the charismatic gifts having continued, since spiritual gifts are only given to believers (1 Cor. 12:7)””and these people do not come to saving faith until later.

Finally, the New Testament clearly states that the way in which the gospel is spread in this age is through preaching. As Paul explains in Romans 10:14”“15, unbelievers will not hear the gospel unless missionaries go to them proclaiming the good news of salvation:

How then will they call on Him in whom they have not believed? How will they believe in Him whom they have not heard? And how will they hear without a preacher? How will they preach unless they are sent? Just as it is written, "How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news of good things!”

To claim that the gospel is now being spread through supernatural visions and revelatory dreams (rather than gospel preaching) goes contrary to Paul’s words in those verses.

By the way, that is why we live-stream our church services every Sunday in Arabic (through gracechurch.org) so that those sermons are available to Arab-speakers all around the world. We believe that faith comes from hearing the proclamation of the good news. In our efforts to fulfill the Great Commission, we can’t assume that supposed visions are legitimate, when the means that God has ordained is the proclamation is the gospel.

Now, can God providentially work in such a way as to use people’s thoughts and impressions to draw them to faith in Jesus Christ? Yes, I believe that’s possible. As I noted earlier, God can do whatever He wants. But that work is neither revelatory nor miraculous. Phil Johnson gave a helpful explanation of this point in his breakout session at the Strange Fire Conference. He said this: ”‹

How do we understand that inner sense, especially when God seems to use it to prompt us to pray, or witness, or duck and run at precisely the right moment? Because let’s be honest: that kind of thing does happen to most of us from time to time.

Here’s the point: I do believe that God might providentially use a spontaneous thought in my head to accomplish something wonderful. But that’s what it is, and no more. It’s a remarkable providence, not a prophecy [nor a revelatory vision]. As I have been saying, God ultimately controls and uses everything providentially… . The fact that He uses an idea in my mind to achieve some good purpose doesn’t make the idea itself inspired.

Well...I so happen to believe MacArthur is wrong, notwithstanding his high ranking position as an astute theologian and church leader.

Joel 2:28 says, "And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions:" Is this promise just to the Jews? (I suspect MacArthur would say so.) It says "ALL FLESH" - what does this mean?

I have met a lady from Hindu background who saw Jesus as a six year old. Today she speaks for Jesus - still. She had never went to Sunday School, was not taught that at all.

A couple weeks ago at our cell group meeting I was surrounded by a group of 10-14 year old boys and we got to talking. Most of them related dreams they had of Jesus...These dreams meant a lot to them and it thrilled them.

Blaine, it almost upset me when I hear of a man of MacArthurs stature deny this reality. This forces me ask some very uncomfortable questions whose answers I will keep private - at the moment.

Yes, Blaine, I have heard these testimonies as well and they have been documented for a long time. I also believe some can be faked - that is possible. But to dismiss the reality of many that are genuine is to dismiss the reality of God's power.

My understanding...

My sister thank you for sharing your thoughts. And thank you for sharing the testimony about the sister from Hinduism and the young men from your church. I do believe that God is speaking through dreams and visions.

But I do believe there are some who say that God speaks only through the printed word. Wondering what they think of Muslims seeing Jesus in dreams and visions? Perhaps they would agree with Dr. McArthur.

Nor is my opinion the one that everything revolves around. Yet I see the beginnings of a thread likely to generate strife. Maybe not but still. It's already been made plain that you believe the dreams are real and from God but still you want to hear from those who it has already been intimated are wrong because they may believe God speaks only through the word. They are on the spot from the get go. It's a good subject for sure but don't be suprised if disagreement is stressed instead of edification.

My opinion as it is said.

This is absolutely incorrect understanding of the scripture. Paul in 1 Cor 15 says that among the people who saw Jesus he was last. Not that Jesus will stop showing himself to anyone after Paul! This is a classic case where one uses their theological understanding to interpret the Bible rather than allowing the Bible to mold their theology!

I am sure Sadhu Sundar Sigh saw Jesus as he narrated it. Otherwise it is impossible for someone from a Sikh faith to have such a drastic conversion. His love for Jesus and his sacrifice are great example.

I myself believe that Jesus came to my room when I was about to leave the Christian faith. He clearly spoke to me. I could clearly sense his presence in the room where I wept for my sins.

The book of Job is very clear on God speaking through dreams,
Job 33:15-

In a dream, in a vision of the night,
when deep sleep falls on people
as they slumber in their beds,
16 he may speak in their ears
and terrify them with warnings,
17 to turn them from wrongdoing
and keep them from pride,
18 to preserve them from the pit,
their lives from perishing by the sword.

...It's already been made plain that you believe the dreams are real and from God but still you want to hear from those who it has already been intimated are wrong because they may believe God speaks only through the word...

David, I'm not saying those who hold that God speaks ONLY through the word are wrong. I believe very much that God does speak throug His word. As a matter of fact, this is the PRIMARY way in which God speaks.

In my own personal walk with Christ I am probably more in the word now than I have ever been in my 45 years in walking with Jesus. Ironically it was after I was baptized in the Holy Spirit and received of my prayer language of speaking in tongues. That I began to develop a hunger, more for the word of God.

But what I'm asking is? Does God speak through other means to bring people to the word? One of our brothers just posted about his testimony of a vision of Jesus. Our brother shared that he was about to leave the Christian faith when Jesus appeared to him. Our brother said he repented his sins. This is our brother Sree

Yet Dr.MacArthur would call our brother's experiences into question. Perhaps say that Sree should have gotten his conviction by reading the word.

But again, is God confined only to the printed word? Are dreams and visions credible ways in which God speaks?

Below is a link to a paper in which the author discounts the dreams and visions that Muslims are having of Jesus. The paper is too long to post here. Also, the paper is quite theological. But I include the link for purposes of discussion.

http://www.biblicalintegrity.org/2012/03/01/muslim-visions-jesus/

The author concludes below.

---My Conclusion: This study concludes that the biblical support offered for the Muslim dreams phenomenon, when evaluated within the context of Scripture, does not, in fact, support the phenomenon. Therefore, I conclude that these dreams and visions lack biblical authority and must therefore be viewed as extra-biblical experiences generated from sources other than the Holy Spirit.---

Many people have dreams and visions as part of their testimony, not only Muslims. A vision of Jesus was part of my Dad's testimony.

I personally know a number of Muslims who have had dreams of Jesus. Sadly not all of them have come to Christ. Those stories don't get written about, but it does happen.

Most experienced workers among Muslims personally know people who have had dreams and visions of Jesus and could introduce you to those people. I would suggest those interested in getting to know some missionaries to Muslims.

It's shocking how many Muslims admit to having dreams of Jesus, and I've come to realize that many more have dreams of Jesus and fail to tell anyone.

At the Spirit's prompting I asked an Iranian Muslim man if he had ever had a dream of Jesus and he said that he had, described the dream and then confided that he had never told anyone about it for forty years, not even his wife. As far as I know, he still hasn't come to the Lord.

I post this because I want to get the word out about what God is doing among Muslims and encourage people to get involved in reaching them. The cessationism debate has more than enough literature and debates out there for those who want to learn more.

Here are my thoughts and I do not believe they are complicated.

Is God confined only to His written word?

My opinion is YES, because no dream, vision, Voice(Even Gods) from heaven, or experience will ever contradict His written Word. God’s Word is the final authority and will either validate or invalidate one’s experience, dream, or vision.
So YES God is CONFINED to the Written Word.

Are dreams and visions credible ways in which God speaks?

My opinion is YES, God has said in His Word that He will speak through visions and dreams as well as through the Gifts of the Holy Spirit prophetically, a word of wisdom or knowledge, also signs and wonders. But again, the dreams, visions, prophecy, words, signs, and wonders must all be tested and confirmed through Gods Written Word.

Does God speak only through His printed word?
No, God SPEAKS through visions, dreams, sinners, jack asses, the Gifts of the Spirit, signs, and wonders, BUT, all of the above will never contradict or go against the Written Word.

Then are Muslims claiming experiences of Jesus being deceived?
This question can go either way and requires a question. What is the end result of the visions Muslims are claiming? If the end result is repentance, faith, and belief that Jesus Christ is the ONLY way to heaven and that He is the Son of God, and they have a changed life with a desire to tell others about Jesus Christ then NO they are not deceived.

Those who claim to have come to Christ as a result of visions or dreams, are they false believers?
Not if they have COME to Christ as the scriptures clearly teach with the resulting FRUIT that Jesus said we would know them by.

Personally I have never seen anyone on this forum claim God only SPEAKS through His Written Word so I doubt anyone is going to respond that way. People however have eluded to and said in a roundabout way that God is indeed CONFINED to His Written Word and will never go outside or contradict what He has clearly PRESERVED through Holy Spirit inspired men via ink and paper (papyrus, skins, etc).

I define Gods Written Word as Spirit, Truth, Life and the very person of Jesus Christ. This definition is derived, of course, from the Written Word.

C
Christinyou

Tell me how does this qualify? It is written now, but when Paul had the experience It was not written, only spoken to Ananias by Jesus Himself, in a dream, vision, personal encounter as with Paul etc. what ever you want to call it.

Ac 9:10
And there was a certain disciple at Damascus, named Ananias; and to him said the Lord in a vision, Ananias. And he said, Behold, I am here, Lord.
Ac 9:12
And hath seen in a vision a man named Ananias coming in, and putting his hand on him, that he might receive his sight.

Also what about Peters dream with the sheet?

Acts 22:6-21 And it came to pass, that, as I made my journey, and was come nigh unto Damascus about noon, suddenly there shone from heaven a great light round about me. And I fell unto the ground, and heard a voice saying unto me, Saul, Saul, why persecutest thou me? And I answered, Who art thou, Lord? And he said unto me, I am Jesus of Nazareth, whom thou persecutest. And they that were with me saw indeed the light, and were afraid; but they heard not the voice of him that spake to me. And I said, What shall I do, Lord? And the Lord said unto me, Arise, and go into Damascus; and there it shall be told thee of all things which are appointed for thee to do. And when I could not see for the glory of that light, being led by the hand of them that were with me, I came into Damascus. And one Ananias, a devout man according to the law, having a good report of all the Jews which dwelt there, Came unto me, and stood, and said unto me, Brother Saul, receive thy sight. And the same hour I looked up upon him. And he said, The God of our fathers hath chosen thee, that thou shouldest know his will, and see that Just One, and shouldest hear the voice of his mouth. For thou shalt be his witness unto all men of what thou hast seen and heard. And now why tarriest thou? arise, and be baptized, and wash away thy sins, calling on the name of the Lord. And it came to pass, that, when I was come again to Jerusalem, even while I prayed in the temple, I was in a trance; And saw him saying unto me, Make haste, and get thee quickly out of Jerusalem: for they will not receive thy testimony concerning me. And I said, Lord, they know that I imprisoned and beat in every synagogue them that believed on thee: And when the blood of thy martyr Stephen was shed, I also was standing by, and consenting unto his death, and kept the raiment of them that slew him. And he said unto me, Depart: for I will send thee far hence unto the Gentiles.

Now what do we do? I personally believe that God is outside of time and even His Word which He will never contradict or as His Word is perfect so is He of what is outside of what is written, God is so much more, we will be learning throughout all eternity His Glory and Majesty. How can we put God in the little box we have as the true Word of God. God is so much more than we can know, but He says we will know.

Ro 8:39
Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Ro 11:33
O the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! how unsearchable are his judgments, and his ways past finding out!

Ephesians 3:10-21 To the intent that now unto the principalities and powers in heavenly places might be known by the church the manifold wisdom of God, According to the eternal purpose which he purposed in Christ Jesus our Lord: In whom we have boldness and access with confidence by the faith of him. Wherefore I desire that ye faint not at my tribulations for you, which is your glory. For this cause I bow my knees unto the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, Of whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named, That he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, to be strengthened with might by his Spirit in the inner man; That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love, May be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height; And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God. Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us, Unto him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end. Amen.

Pretty potent stuff.

Brother, you bring a different side of the story. I was under the the impression that Muslims who had dreams or visions of Jesus readily responded to Him. But I can see that I was mistaken.

I guess it is like the gospel. A person may hear the good news of Jesus Christ. And chose not to respond. While another may hear it and choose to respond. So to a Muslim may have a dream of Jesus and choose to act on that dream or vision. While another having a similar experience may disregarded it or choose not to act on it.

I do agree. We need to get the word out about what God is doing among the Muslims. It seems that there those who are responding to the dreams and visions of Jesus. Then those who are rejecting it. But the brother? This is an assumption on my part. I could very well be mistaken. But I do pray that more will respond to the dreams and visions that they may have about theMan in White.

JESUS APPEARS TO MUSLIMS

rELIGION IN THE NEWS

A report and comment on religious trends and events being covered by the media. This week’s item is from the Open Doors News Brief Magazine, November 2000. "I wasn’t a Christian then, I was born into a Muslim family, and I didn’t know much about Christianity at all. I had seen churches from the outside, but never set foot in them. I knew about Eesa, that is, Jesus, from the Qur’an. We all do, but now I actually saw him! Whether it was in a kind of dream or vision I don’t know. I grabbed my chuddar, ran out of the door and started crying. He called to me, ‘I am Jesus, I am here, come to me.’ Then he took my hand and walked with me to the church down the road. We went into the courtyard; he pointed to the church building and said, ‘This is the place where I live, then he left.’” As Sarah was speaking, an intense joy spread over her face. She took her Bible and hugged it to her heart. After a while she continued quoting: "Jesus is so lovely, I never knew that, I’ve come to love him more and more. Since the day I saw him I have gone to church, I started to read the Bible, and my life is totally changed, the Lord is so real to me. My life hasn’t become any easier, I’ve been a widow for 5 years, and I’m only 38. I still have to take care of all of my children on my own, but I have found the source of joy. He is the light and love of my life, and I never want to go back to my old life style again.” All over the Muslim world God is doing remarkable things. Time and time again we are hearing stories like Sarah’s of Muslims who have been converted through dreams and visions; often they had little or no contact with Christians. Jesus appears directly to them and as a result they commit their lives to Him.

Tom:

Dave, one of the reasons I picked this for us to look at, on the one hand, you really want to get excited about it. This is from Open Doors from Brother Andrew from his magazine, but there have been others out there””

Dave:

November 2000.

Tom:

There have been others out there who have reported the same thing.

Dave:

Campus Crusade has reported similar things.
Tom:

Right. Now, someone sent me this article, and their concern was, Is this legit, is this what””they were concerned that maybe this wasn’t Jesus, maybe this was a little too, kind of experiential, a little too subjective, even to the point of wondering whether this is truly going on or if this is of the Lord, actually.

Dave:

Yeah, a number of things really troubled me as that was being read, Tom. Jesus does not live in a church, I don’t care what church. Paul said it very clearly on Mars Hill Acts 17: "He dwelleth not in temples made with hands.” He dwells in our hearts now, the Son of God has come to live in our hearts, and God has come to live in our hearts. So, God does not live in a church, number one. Number two, I don’t know what church this was, there seemed to be a physical presence here: "he took her by the hand,” I mean, it is almost too much, led her to this church, she said she met him personally. Now, there’s not a word in there about the gospel, and the Bible says the gospel is the power of God unto salvation to everyone who believes. She’s had an emotional experience with someone called Jesus, that she thought was Jesus””Eesa.

Tom:

Now this is an apparition.

Dave:

Yeah, yeah, right.

Tom:

And she saw his face, he is so lovely, she says.

Dave:

It’s not the Jesus that John the Revelator saw in Revelation 1; glorified at the Father’s right hand. I don’t think that you become a Christian; in fact I know you do not become a Christian through meeting an apparition that calls itself Jesus. Now, if she had said””she says she started reading her Bible, she has great joy.

Tom

That’s good.

Dave:

Yeah, but there are many people who read their Bible and don’t understand it and don’t believe it. So, I don’t find any basis for believing that this woman is a true Christian. She may be, maybe that isn’t told in the story, but I find no comprehension of who Jesus is. He’s a wonderful, lovely person, came to her and visited her, and so forth. Did he die on the cross for her sins? Is he God, really God himself? And then she said we’ve read of this Eesa in the Qur’an. Well, the Eesa in the Qur’an, the Jesus in the Qur’an is not the Jesus of scripture. The Jesus in the Qur’an for example, did not die on the cross, someone died in his place. In fact, the Qur’an says that God put a likeness of Jesus upon one of his disciples, and the tradition, the hadith says it was Judas who died in Jesus’ place. So now, she doesn’t seem to have been delivered from the Qur’an, and she’s had an emotional experience with some apparition that called itself Jesus. I’m troubled by that.

Tom:

Well, the number one problem here is that this is incredibly subjective. How would someone listening to, or reading this testimony, how would they relate to it? Would they say, oh Jesus is appearing all around, and He’s meeting people out there or over here or there. Does this then establish a doctrine of how Jesus moves and how He worked among people? You would have real trouble, as you have been indicating, lining this up with scripture, so that’s a problem. On the other hand, could Jesus just sovereignly move into somebody’s life? I mean we’ve talked about people, we’ve written about people who met Jesus on a drug trip intervening in their lives, saving them from death and turning them around. That’s very subjective as well.

Dave:

That is, and they didn’t become believers, but something happened on this drug trip, whatever it was, that caused them to rethink their lives and they were then led to Christ through the gospel. But Paul writes of those who love His appearing, and John writes, 1 John 3, "When we see Him we will be like him, we will see him as he is. It doesn’t appear what we shall be but we know when He appears.” But now, what is this talking about? It seems that the Bible teaches an appearing of Christ in the future to all believers at once. We’re having appearances of Jesus all over the world to individuals. I don’t believe it’s biblical. Now if this is a dream then I could accept that, something happens in a dream, it’s not literally Jesus there, and He’s speaking to them, I believe He can speak to them in a dream. But they’re going to have to know the gospel; it will have to lead them to the gospel. Even Peter, when he had this sheet let down from heaven in Acts 10, he didn’t know what it meant. God had to speak to him with a voice and to tell him, but there again, this is not the gospel. So, I would have great caution and concern about this event.

Brethren. What are we to make of Muslims who claim to come to Jesus through a dream or a vision. While we are debating the fiction of The Shack. And its apparent false teaching. Reports are coming in daily of Muslims who are turning to Christ via a dream or a vision. Yet to respected men of God for calling these visions and dreams into question. Actually, in reading their articles, they would discount the dreams and visions as not being real.

So are we to conclude again that Muslims who have had such dreams and visions are false converts? ? Are we to conclude that people such as Dr. Tom Doyle, who wrote about such dreams and visions in 2 books are deceived. Could Dr. David Hunt and Dr. John MacArthur be right that God has stopped working in dreams and visions and is only working through the printed word?

I put forward these questions for discussion. To me, this is of greater concern than the fiction of The Shack. Because the reports of Muslims come into Christ, who dreams and visions are real. At least the reports are. Whether the dreams and visions themselves are real, I suppose can be called into question.

Just pondering these things right now. At this point, I'm beginning to wonder if there might be a case for cessationism. If so. This will certainly change the dynamic of my prayer call.

You are so right, my brother. I was reminded of Jesus's encounter with the rich young ruler. In Mark's account. He said Jesus felt a love for the rich young ruler. Jesus gave him the invite to follow Him after he laid everything on the altar. But even the love of Christ was not enough to turn the young man the wealth of the world.

So even Muslims can experience dreams and visions of Jesus. They may experience the love of Jesus in those dreams and visions. But Muslims can choose to turn away from the invite to have a relationship with Jesus.

Brethren for a brief instant, I almost turned to cessationism. Though Dr. McArthur and Dr. Hunt are to be respected in the areas of biblical exposition and apologetics. I find I cannot embrace their position regarding dreams and visions among Muslims. In other words, I cannot accept their position, saying that God has stopped working in such in this day and age.

In all respects to Dr. McArthur and Dr. hunt. I do not believe they have an understanding of what God is really doing in the Middle East. People such as Tom Doyle and David Barrett do have an understanding as they have worked in the Middle East. And have documented how thousands of Muslims are coming to Christ on a daily basis. And many by dreams and visions. Such reports cannot be disregarded. Irregardless of one's theological paradigm.

Thus, I will choose to believe the reports of Muslims coming to Christ via dreams and visions to be true.

Blaine:

My mother had a vision of Jesus five years before she died, she saw Jesus by the river of life. At the time my mother was 82 and still a confessing Catholic. She had been ill for quite some time and after 6 months of hospitals, antibiotics, and steroids she was very weak.

One morning before the vision of the Lord by the river my mother could not get out of bed and she told me she was dying. I told her that it is appointed unto men once to die but then the judgement. I then told her what really matters is where is she going to spend eternity and she said she was going to go and be with Jesus and I asked why and she confessed because He died for her, that was when I knew my mother was truly saved.

I left her that morning in bed to go to my office and then to get her a few things. My brothers called our eldest brother and told him to get on a plane if he wanted to see our mother again and he came the next day.

The following morning my mother was rushed to the hospital and they worked on keeping her alive for several hours. This whole time I was at total peace quietly praying in tongues that whole morning. After about 6 hours in the ER my brother and I were standing by her bedside and she fell asleep and when I looked at her face even though her eyes were closed I knew she was seeing something pretty spectacular because she had a look of awe on her face.

Then the Lord clearly said to me that He was ministering to my mother. It was so clear I looked at my brother and almost said, "Look Al, Jesus is talking to mother" but I was so excited that He had come to her I walked out of the room and was just praying in tongues and praising God.

When I walked back in the room I went to her bedside and she opened her eyes and I said, "Mom, Jesus is preparing a place for you" and she said, "Yes, I know, I saw Him"

She went on to describe Jesus standing by the purest river she ever saw and she said the water was as clear as crystal and that she had never seen anything like this river. She then asked Jesus what He was doing there and He told her, "I've come to wash you".

She wanted to go to Him but was prevented, she said the look on His face was so loving and peaceful and that he had the most beautiful hair.

For ten days after that my mother just wanted to go back to be with Jesus. I was very happy with her vision but still wanted to test it with the written word. When I went home that night I asked the Lord what the river was that my mother saw Him by and without hesitation He said it was the river of life.

He then told me to go get my bible and I went right to Revelation 22:1, And He shewed me a PURE river of WATER OF LIFE, CLEAR AS CRYSTAL, proceeding out of the throne of God and of the Lamb.

I then asked Him what did He mean that He had come to wash my mother? He said that He had come to wash away her sin.

For some time proceeding up to this event my mother had been telling me she wanted to be water baptized via submersion but we just were never able to make that come to pass due to her health issues at the time, lakes being to cold, and the one baptismal at the church I was attending was unaccessible for her. So I believed Jesus symbolically baptized my mother that day.

The hospital had given up all hope for my mother and were recommending hospice however my mother made a miraculous recovery and lived for five more really wonderful fruitful years.

She then confessed that she had a vision that day she told me she was dying and that she saw this young beautiful woman robed in white and she asked Jesus who that was and He told her that it was her and that it was the body He was preparing for my mother which was her temporal body she would occupy when she would be going to heaven.

Five years later on her death bed my mother had more visions one of which she saw Jesus by the river waiting for her and that He would be calling her home in the morning. Everyone that came to see my mother that last night she was so excited and told them not to cry for her because Jesus was coming to get her in the morning and she died at 7:04 a.m.

I asked the Lord as I was driving home that morning why He waited until morning to come and get my mother and He said because His mercies are new every morning.

I could go on and on about the things God did for my mother well above and beyond what I had been praying for. He exceeded everything I asked.

As I said earlier, I believe in my heart and spirit that God speaks through dreams and visions and I also believe God is going into the middle east and speaking to Muslims.

I will close with this. My brother in law has been ministering to a Hindu at his work for years and telling Him about Jesus. A couple months ago His wife woke him at 2:00 a.m. and told him that he had to get up so they could pray and when he asked why, she told him that Jesus had come to her in a dream and told her to come to Him. She was so startled she woke her husband.

Now this couples son has left Hinduism and has been attending a Christian church and while they are not fully there yet it is just a matter of time before they commit their lives to Christ.

I am sure Jesus while He is preparing sister Aggie for her homecoming she to will be seeing visions before she leaves. I pray that Andy and their family will be comforted in knowing that He is faithful who promised.

Wow! Brother what an incredible testimony! Thank you so much for sharing. Only God in his mercy would give such dreams and visions to confirm the reality of heaven to your dear mother. And to this Hindu couple. Or I should say ex Hindu couple. And all can be confirmed by the word.

Thank you again, dear brother for sharing. This has made my evening. And certainly confirmed that God is still working mightily today.

isaiah 8:20
to the law and to the testimony . if they speak not according to this word it is because there is no light in them...we do have to ask God for discernment in some stories.

My best friend died suddenly this past Tuesday in the hospital and for the first couple days, I had been stuck in grief and "how could we have kept her on this earth?" type of thinking. I've been a weeping mess but reading your mother's story yesterday helped me past that. :) Brother, thank you so much for posting this.

God bless you,
Lisa

Thank you Blaine, Browny, Carolyn, and Lisa for sharing your blessing of my mothers testimony. In turn, it greatly blesses me that you find it a blessing and are encouraged and edified in Christ.

It truly does my heart and soul well!

I woke up early and read your replies and a usually awake very early for prayer, reflection, and pondering what has happened this week and how my day is going to go.

As a result Lisa's testimony of the passing of her dear friend sparked a memory in my and the sudden loss of a dear friend that was so unexpected and I can relate to Lisa's grief and much of my morning was consumed with the thought of what it is like to lose a loved one and friend.

This site has also been made aware of another faithful sister and saint who has been suffering a very long illness and the Lord is preparing to take her home, Sister Aggie. Many here have been praying for her and Andy for months now.

I would like to start a thread as to not hijack this thread with stories and testimonies of people are led to share of what it is like to lose a loved one and friend.

Brother, if you wish you may use this thread or your own. Either way I will be looking to reading those stories. Because they are encouraging. But dear brother, you are an encouragement. Thank you for sharing again the testimony of your dear mother. Somehow those visions make the transition from this temporal realm into the eternal realm easier. Though it never immediately takes away the pain of losing a loved one. It will certainly help in the healing of the pain.

Thank you brother Blaine, as I said it blesses me and encourages me to see others lifted up, encouraged, and edified in Christ. I do not believe there is no greater satisfaction than people being blessed.

Since early this morning God has been speaking to me and this greatly comforts me yet today I just cannot put into words what I am feeling.

There is no fear, worry, or anxiousness and I am at peace. I guess if I had to describe what I have been feeling since very early this morning is a burden.

I don't know what God is doing and what that means to me but it is times like this that I can only pray in the spirit.

Blaine, thanks for sharing Aggie's life with us. God has His reasons and purposes for everything yet how many times do we miss the Lord and opportunities to be used of Him?

Like you said with all the views and prayers regarding Aggie has amazed you. What if you missed that opportunity? What would you stand to lose?

A blessing? Another crown to cast at the Saviors feet? An opportunity to bring Glory to the One you serve?

Bless you brother, much to think about indeed.
