I think this is one more step towards the 7 year peace treaty spoken of in Daniel. Jacob's Trouble is coming soon, I believe.
Trump To Announce Peace Deal Between Israel And UAE
Brother Nigel,
Just heard about this peace treaty this morning and saw your post... firstly thank you for posting this for us to see and secondly could you please elaborate on your perspective/understanding regarding your above statement?
I believe the antichrist will broker a seven year peace treaty as detailed in the 9th chapter of Daniel. Any peace treatise agreed upon now are only a foreshadowing of what is to come.
Hi Drifter,
Just a few things about the Seven Year Peace Treaty
1.In itself their is no problem with a peace treaty.Peace is a good thing .Blessed are the peace makers etc even though in the future Israel will be much larger. The Peace Treaty is not in itself evil but the breaking of the peace treaty is.
2.The Peace Treaty of Seven years is very very unusual. Why?The short time frame .Normally a peace treaty like Israel and Egypt is open ended no time frame. So this leads me to believe their is something going on here like perhaps a 7 years as in a week of years or 49yrs duration .
3.The Anti Christ doesnt seem to come up with the plan like the Church seem to think nowadays. The Anti Christ just gives it his blessing or approval and may not be involved in its inception at all.So it may not be just as easy to recognise the anti christ by just looking for the leader who signs a peace treaty as it will probably not be the Anti Christ who signs it .
4.I have to mention this even though its contentious with my Post Trib believers. The first half of the 7yrs is peaceful and Israel seems to be in a prosperous place .
yours staff
Hey staff. I'm pre trib myself. I appreciate your non argumentative attitude.
I think you may be correct that the antichrist will only approve the 7 year peace treaty and not draft it himself; however I believe the devil will be the one pulling the strings to get it done.
Peace is good and I'm all for it, but I'm always wary when I hear people talking about "world peace". It can't happen as long as people have a sin nature. Any peace man can produce is a cheap copy of the real thing.
I don't believe Trump is the antichrist. Scripture says he must be revealed (2 Thessalonians 2:8). Christians will know beyond a shadow of a doubt who the antichrist is when God reveals him. I think it highly dubious that so many people have been identified as the antichrist, like Henry Kissinger, George Soros, Bill Clinton etc.
Hi
Daniel 9:27 has been interpreted either as concerning the antichrist or as a messianic prophesy.
If one sees it as messianic, the "peace treaty” part falls away.
Should one be interested in seeing how Dan 9:27 could be interpreted as messianic I recommend the following ...
Blessings
Hi Drifter,
On the revealing of the Anti Christ( which will happen )my point is that it will not be easy to tell its him by just looking at who signs the peace treaty.
I think that although its destined not to last the peace treaty in itself is not sinful even if the world is being duped .
Also I strongly believe from a scriptural point of view that the first part of the Trib will be peaceful and the Church will come under corporately the ministry of Elijah and hence we will see the greatest harvest the world has ever seen.
You cant have an anti Christ without having a Jezebel and an Elijah ,staff
//Should one be interested in seeing how Dan 9:27 could be interpreted as messianic I recommend the following ...
Thanks for posting that JochB. It appears some balance is sorely needed.
When I read Daniel 9 I get no sense that it is talking about some far future end times scenario. The prophecy has been fulfilled.
Why is it foretold in the prophets and NT that Christ will return to Israel when He returns?
Are you talking about at the Second Coming? If so, I agree He will return to Israel.
But Daniel 9 is talking about something else.
The winners in the peace deal are Trump, Israel, and UAE. The loosers are Iran and Hezbalah.
These events are signifigant in our day. This is all symbolic of the work of antichrist that will come:
Daniel 8:25 - "And through his policy also he shall cause craft to prosper in his hand; and he shall magnify himself in his heart, and by peace shall destroy many: he shall also stand up against the Prince of princes; but he shall be broken without hand."
Thanks Greg.
In many parts of the church though, some of the early church's eschatological foundations laid by the prophets, Jesus and the apostles are missing. Many teach Israel has become irrelevant in God's prophetic plan and there will be no personal antichrist etc., it's supposed to just be allegory etc. The biblical eschatological context is in need of restoring in many quarters of the church.
There is no "personal antichrist” mentioned in scripture”” anywhere.
In regard to Daniel 8, the personage spoke of is Antiochus Epiphanes. In reference to v. 25 (By his cunning he shall make deceit prosper under his hand, and in his own mind he shall become great. Without warning he shall destroy many. And he shall even rise up against the Prince of princes, and he shall be broken””but by no human hand):
””””””””””””
"The ruin that he shall be brought to at last: He shall be broken without hand, that is, without the hand of man. He shall not be slain in war, nor shall he be assassinated, as tyrants commonly were, but he shall fall into the hand of the living God and die by an immediate stroke of his vengeance. He, hearing that the Jews had cast the image of Jupiter Olympius out of the temple, where he had placed it, was so enraged at the Jews that he vowed he would make Jerusalem a common burial-place, and determined to march thither immediately; but no sooner had he spoken these proud words than he was struck with an incurable plague in his bowels; worms bred so fast in his body that whole flakes of flesh sometimes dropped from him; his torments were violent, and the stench of his disease such that none could endure to come near him. He continued in this misery very long. At first he persisted in his menaces against the Jews; but at length, despairing of his recovery, he called his friends together, and acknowledged all those miseries to have fallen upon him for the injuries he had done to the Jews and his profaning the temple at Jerusalem. Then he wrote courteous letters to the Jews, and vowed that if he recovered he would let them have the free exercise of their religion. But, finding his disease grow upon him, when he could no longer endure his own smell, he said, It is meet to submit to God, and for man who is mortal not to set himself in competition with God, and so died miserably in a strange land, on the mountains of Pacata near Babylon: so Ussher’s Annals, A.M. 3840, about 160 years before the birth of Christ." ~ Matthew Henry’s Commentary
"And I saw the beast, and the kings of the earth, and their armies, gathered together to make war against him that sat on the horse, and against his army. And the beast was taken, and with him the false prophet that wrought miracles before him, with which he deceived them that had received the mark of the beast, and them that worshipped his image. These both were cast alive into a lake of fire burning with brimstone." Revelation 19:19,20
So, Todd, according to your interpretation, Jesus is casting an allegory into a fictional place?
Not necessarily allegory but not necessarily literal either.
If you ask 100 Christians who or what the antichrist is you’ll likely get 80 different answers.
Why is that?
If he is not to be a personall Antichrist, then, almost of necessity, it would have to make the Israel he directs his wrath against a non personal non literal Israel also.
Are personal pronouns used in abundance in the Bible supposed to designate non literal entities and people?
36 And the king shall do according to HIS will; and HE shall exalt HIMSELF, and magnify HIMSELF above every god (quoted directly by Paul in II Thessalonians 2:4), and shall speak marvellous things against the God of gods, and shall prosper till the indignation be accomplished: for that that is determined shall be done.
37 Neither shall HE regard the God of his fathers, nor the desire of women, nor regard any god: for HE shall magnify HIMSELF above all.
38 But in HIS estate shall HE honour the God of forces: and a god whom HIS fathers knew not shall HE honour with gold, and silver, and with precious stones,
and pleasant things.
39 Thus shall HE do in the most strong holds with a strange god, whom HE shall acknowledge and increase with glory: and HE shall cause them to rule over many, and shall divide the land for gain.
40 And at the time of the end shall the king of the south push at HIM: and the king of the north shall come against HIM like a whirlwind, with chariots, and with horsemen, and with many ships; and HE shall enter into the countries, and shall overflow and pass over.
41 HE shall enter also into the glorious land, and many countries shall be overthrown: but these shall escape out of HIS hand, even Edom, and Moab, and the chief of the children of Ammon.
42 HE shall stretch forth his hand also upon the countries: and the land of Egypt shall not escape.
43 But HE shall have power over the treasures of gold and of silver, and over all the precious things of Egypt: and the Libyans and the Ethiopians shall be at HIS steps.
44 But tidings out of the east and out of the north shall trouble HIM: therefore HE shall go forth with great fury to destroy, and utterly to make away many.
45 And HE shall plant the tabernacles of his palace between the seas in the glorious holy mountain; yet HE shall come to his end, and none shall help HIM.
II Thessalonians 2
1 Now we beseech you, brethren, by the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and by our gathering together unto him,
2Â That ye be not soon shaken in mind, or be troubled, neither by spirit, nor by word, nor by letter as from us, as that the day of Christ is at hand.
3Â Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that MAN of sin be revealed, the SON of perdition;
4Â Who opposeth and exalteth HIMSELF above all that is called God or that is worshiped (Paul quoting directly from Daniel 11:36); so that HE as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing HIMSELF that HE is God.
5Â Remember ye not, that, when I was yet with you, I told you these things?
6Â And now ye know what withholdeth that HE might be revealed in HIS time.
7Â For the mystery of iniquity doth already work: only he who now letteth will let, until he be taken out of the way.
8Â And then shall that Wicked (WICKED ONE, HIM) be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming:
9Â Even HIM, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonder
Maybe because they are interpreting scripture incorrectly?
"But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief." 1 Thessalonians 5:4
If someone can't see the crystal clear signs of the times, should I conclude they are in darkness?
The sad thing about the video ( and posts by Drifter & Docs) is that it is more peddling of a distorted eschatology built on very hard to interpret scriptures. Please leave Daniel, Ezekiel, Revelation and Zechariah for a while and start with what our Lord taught us.
He taught us that He will resurrect us on the last day, not 7 or 3 and a half years earlier.
John 6:40. For my Father's will is that everyone who looks to the Son and believes in him shall have eternal life, and I will raise them up at the last day."
He taught that immediately after that (not a thousand years later), will be the judgement.
Matthew 13: 36 Then Jesus dismissed the crowds and went into the house. His disciples came to Him and said, "Explain to us the parable of the weeds in the field.”
37He replied, "The One who sows the good seed is the Son of Man. 38The field is the world, and the good seed represents the sons of the kingdom. The weeds are the sons of the evil one, 39and the enemy who sows them is the devil. The harvest is the end of the age, and the harvesters are angels.
40As the weeds are collected and burned in the fire, so will it be at the end of the age. 41The Son of Man will send out His angels, and they will weed out of His kingdom every cause of sin and all who practice lawlessness. 42And they will throw them into the fiery furnace, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth. 43Then the righteous will shine like the sun in the kingdom of their Father.
He who has ears, let him hear.
So in short, there is this evil age that will end on THE LAST DAY, and then the age to come, which is ETERNITY.
Luke 18:29 "Truly I tell you,” Jesus replied, "no one who has left home or wife or brothers or parents or children for the sake of the kingdom of God 30will fail to receive many times more in this age””and in the age to come, eternal life.”
Luke 20: 34 Jesus answered, "The sons of this age marry and are given in marriage. 35But those who are considered worthy to share in the age to come and in the resurrection from the dead will neither marry nor be given in marriage. 36In fact, they can no longer die, because they are like the angels. And since they are sons of the resurrection, they are sons of God.
Blessings
Another very sad discussion indeed.
I would call this again "christianity today..."
To this day no one has ever shown me a clear verse in scripture that a Antichrist is coming.
So no point to discuss it.
The sad thing is, this doesn't promote biblical revival or unity.
David Wilkerson said in one of his messages that this would be coming, people would be joining this camp and that camp, people get books and tapes...christians fighting one another instead of fighting the devil, he wants to fight the real enemy, in our hearts, he wants pure devotion to Jesus Christ , he is not going to argue about the millenium...
(from his message: Another Jesus, another Spirit, another Gospel. You can listen in after about 47min to hear his own words.)
For some this topic is more important then the Gospel and pure devotion to Christ and His Holy Word. THIS is the real problem !
May the Lord Himself show this to us !
1 John 2:18 seems to say there is "the Antichrist” as well as other "antichrists”
When a title is expressed/objectified in this way, that would connote a culmination in one persona, no?
Also doesn’t scripture teach that it’s both a group or series of persons possessed of the "spirit of antichrist” as well as an ultimate or singular person "the Antichrist” ?
Hi Deogloria,
Another way of looking at the Endtimes and the anti Christ would be like we look at the temple of the old testament as a type where Jesus fullfilled what was required by the law.
If you look at the 3 1/2 yrs you will see that it is to do with Elijah each time it occurs.
3 1/2 years ,Elijah ,Evil King in Ahab,Evil woman in Jezebel who wanted his head,12 stones,Sacrifice, water and Fire falling
3 1/2 yrs ,Elijah as in John The Baptist,Evil King Herod,Evil Woman who wanted his head, twelve stones in the twelve apostles, water from John and fire falling as in pentecost
3 1/2 yrs in Revelation and fill in the blanks
Elijah as in the two witnesses, baptism of repentance they wear sackcloth.Always when you see the Spirit of Elijah ,you will see the evil woman Jezebel and the Evil King AntiChrist
If you follow the 3 1/2 yrs you will see that their is an Evil King in the end ,staff

As respectfully as I can reply, I have found this to be a common reply and somewhat blanket caricature toward many who are interested in these things, eschatology and the things of the end. To say to them it's more important than the saving Gospel and devotion to Christ is monumentally wrong. I'm speaking from experience. Yet I've found this argument to be common for some reason toward those who want to sort these things out as best they can. For some reason, it's the only field of Bible study that elicits such responses. It seems to me to be more of a learned response that doesn't carry as much weight as it may sound like it does. Not trying to be a burr here but eschatology, making up about thirty percent of the Bible is part of the whole counsel of God. Why ignore it or cast aspersion on those trying to make sense of it? It doesn't in any way replace the supreme importance of the saving Gospel or devotion to Christ. Not at all. Discussions about these things is not always an argument per say. The Spirit of Antichrist and the coming of "the" Antichrist at the end of the age is a prominent theme in the eschatological teachings of the Bible.
Thank you. Blessings.
The Peculiar Value of Prophecy - Samuel Tregelles (1813-1875)
The soul of a saint always finds establishment when it can truly repose upon the revealed will of God, when, amid the conflict of human thoughts and human actions, it can be brought simply to "God and the word of His grace." Those who are not so reposing may only look at the storm, but those who, like Paul in the tossed vessel, have had the word of God brought home to their ear can take courage themselves and rely upon the promise of safety even for the guidance of others.
This gives prophecy a peculiar value to the soul of the instructed Christian - he thus is warned of the coming events, but though he sees them he is not cast down, for he knows the issue beforehand. Our present calling is to walk in the midst of human things in the full practical recognition of the glories which have been made known to us as belonging to us in Christ our head, above at God's right hand. Prophecy has been bestowed on us in order that we may know how, in the midst of confusion and the varied forms of Satan's working, we may stand and act as those who belong to Christ. We know as a simple fact how the Church has greatly overlooked this important portion of God's revealed truth. We know also how the enemy has sought to cast a kind of discredit upon every effort which is made either for any to understand and use prophecy themselves, or to give instruction to others therein. But this, instead of leading us to overlook this precious deposit of God's truth, ought to make us the more earnest in not neglecting that which is so important. If discredit be cast upon such investigation it ought to cause us to look more to the God of all grace, that He may vouchsafe to us the teaching of His Spirit that so we may use it aright.
("Remarks on the Prophetic Visions in the Book of Daniel" - Ch 9 - by Samuel Tregelles - 1813-1875)
I don't particularly care about what position someone has about the Second Coming of Jesus; I won't cause division over it. But, if you are a christian, should you not be looking with anticipation for Jesus to return? It is, after all, our "blessed hope" (Titus 2:13).
Jesus said we should be able to discern the times and warned us over and over to watch and be ready.
We are closer to the Second Coming than they were 2000 years ago but that is all we can say with certainty. We have zero idea when it will be.
We should be committed disciples of Jesus, regardless of our end times view.
We know, according to Luke 21 and other scriptures, that Jesus is coming soon because all the signs are being fulfilled (unless He came back in the first century in the clouds, with power and great glory like He said He would and everybody missed it). Reading Luke 21, for example, properly, would be to understand Jesus was talking about the destruction of the temple in Jerusalem AND the end of the age. Right now we are seeing all the signs being fulfilled. It's pretty hard to miss it.
Nigel-
What signs are you referencing from Luke 21 that you see happening today?
Also, coming on the clouds in judgment is a common motif in the OT. Jesus came in judgment at Jerusalem in 70AD, which as you point out he predicted in the Olivet Discourse. Read about how awful the siege of Jerusalem was. It was not pretty let me assure you. I am NOT saying that the 2d coming was in 70 AD. But Jesus came in judgment at that time nonetheless.
Also reference Mt 26:64, which is a confirmation of Daniel 7:13. "You have said so,” Jesus replied. "But I say to all of you: From now on you will see the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of the Mighty One and coming on the clouds of heaven.”
Matthew 26:64
Todd, I say it in love: we've been over this numerous times. Israel becoming a nation in 1948 is one of the surest signs of Jesus' soon return. There have been world wars, race wars, persecution of believers unparalleled in history, increased earthquake activity, more cults than there have ever been, a great number of professed believers falling away. If these things and many more don't convince you, nothing I say will. I believe if a man can't see the times we are living in it's because he doesn't want to see it.
I love you Todd and I don't want to keep debating this with you.
/The sad thing about the video (and posts by Drifter & Docs) is that it is more peddling of a distorted eschatology built on very hard to interpret scriptures./
36 "Then the king shall do according to HIS own will: HE shall exalt and magnify HIMSELF above every god, shall speak blasphemies against the God of gods, and shall prosper till the wrath has been accomplished; for what has been determined shall be done.
37Â HE shall regard neither the God of HIS fathers nor the desire of women, nor regard any god; for HE shall exalt HIMSELF above them all. (Daniel 11:36-37)
These two sets of scripture, Daniel 11:36-37 and II Thessalonians 2:3-5, don't seem that hard to synchronize and interpret in my opinion. Paul knew ehere to go to make his references to the personal Antichrist.
3Â Let no one deceive you by any means; for that Day will not come unless the falling away comes first, and the MAN of sin is revealed, the SON of perdition,
4Â who opposes and exalts HIMSELF above all that is called God or that is worshiped, so that HE sits as God in the temple of God, showing HIMSELF that HE is God.
5Â Do you not remember that when I was still with you I told you these things? II Thessalonians 2:3-5)
It's a singular PERSON Paul is speaking of. His base reference is Daniel 11:36-37.
/Please leave Daniel, Ezekiel, Revelation and Zechariah for a while and start with what our Lord taught us.

John 6:40. For my Father's will is that everyone who looks to the Son and believes in him shall have eternal life, and I will raise them up at the last day."/
I couldn't agree with you more. To me, the last day means the last day. Not seven or three and a half years or so before the end of the age. My experience, for what it may be worth (probably not a lot), has been that those who believe in a millennium are many times automatically seen as holding a pre-tribulation rapture view. It's not really the case because many who believe in a millennium do not hold to the pre-trib view.
Job spoke of His Redeemer standing at the last day. Job 19:25.
Isaiah was shown his own personal resurrection would be after Israel's final deliverance at the end of the age, at the last day. Isaiah 26:19.
Daniel was told told his personal resurrection would be at the end of the days - "But you, go your way, till the end; for you shall rest, and will rise to your inheritance at the end of the days.” (Daniel 12:13) To my understanding, this means Daniel will rise at the end of the age at the last day and not seven or three and a half years before. I couldn't be more with you on this matter.
Paul said we shall ALL BE CHANGED at the last trumpet (I Cor 15:51-52). ALL Old and New Testament saints will be raised and glorified together at the last trumpet. It's a twist of scripture to say one group will be changed and glorified and then another group will be changed and glorified seven or three and a hallf years later. It isn't rational or logical and flies oin thje face of scripture We shall ALL BE CHANGED at the same time. One cannot have a last trumpet seven or three and a half years before the end of the age and then another last trumpet at the end of the age when Christ returns. How can a trumpet legitimately be called the last trumpet if seven or so years later it is to be followed by another last trumpet? The pre-trib view has no answer for this except only to say there can be more than one last trumpet which is a contradiction within itself.
Thank you for your post David.
Sorry for lambasting you, I checked your posts again and misunderstood you.
If you limit the prophesy concerning the antichrist to Daniel 11 verse 36-37, it makes sense I suppose, but Dan 11 still makes my head spin. In fact, I am still working through Matthew 24 and it’s parallel verses in Luke.
Thank you also for the other scriptures concerning the last day. Never saw the one in Job. Daniel 12:1-3 is also pretty awesome.
1"At that time Michael, the great prince who stands watch over your people, will rise up. There will be a time of distress, the likes of which will not have occurred from the beginning of nations until that time. But at that time your people””everyone whose name is found written in the book””will be delivered.
2And many who sleep in the dust of the earth will awake, some to everlasting life, but others to shame and everlasting contempt.a 3Then the wise will shine like the brightness of the heavens,b and those who lead many to righteousness will shine like the stars forever and ever.
Don’t know if this is pushing it, but I was wondering how you see the millennium in the light of "the last day”.
Sorry again.
Blessings
From the OP;
I think this is one more step towards the 7 year peace treaty spoken of in Daniel. Jacob's Trouble is coming soon, I believe.
-------------------------
I do not think that this is one more step towards the 7 year peace treaty spoken of in Daniel. And I don't believe Jacob's Trouble is coming soon.
Ones presuppositions regarding the 7 year peace treaty in Daniel, and Jacob's Trouble may lead one to come to the conclusion that this is one more step in that direction. But historically and contextually this conclusion is a biblically erroneous view.
/But historically and contextually this conclusion is a biblically erroneous view./
So we don't get to see why you view it as erroneous? Blanket categorizations with no explanation?
docs,
There are numerous threads on SI about these things which I have participated in. No need for more!
Got ya.
It's just I am at a conference now and we are talking about some of these things.
(1) -Daniel 8:9-12 - the little horn, an evil personage opposes the daily sacrifices.
9 And out of one of them came a little horn which grew exceedingly great toward the south, toward the east, and toward the Glorious Land.
10 And it grew up to the host of heaven; and it cast down some of the host and some of the stars to the ground, and trampled them.
11 He even exalted himself as high as the Prince of the host; and by him the daily sacrifices were taken away, and the place of His sanctuary was cast down.
12 Because of transgression, an army was given over to the horn to oppose the daily sacrifices; and he cast truth down to the ground. He did all this and prospered.
(2)(Daniel 9:27 - one bringing an end to daily sacrifices is associated with the abomination of desolation)
27 - Then he shall confirm a covenant with many for one week; But in the middle of the week He shall bring an end to sacrifice and offering. And on the wing of abominations shall be one who makes desolate, Even until the consummation, which is determined,is poured out on the desolate.”
(3)Daniel 11:31 - a evil personage takes away the daily sacrifice and Sets up the abomination of desolation)
31 - And forces from him will arise, desecrate the sanctuary fortress, and do away with the regular sacrifice. And they will set up the abomination of desolation.
(Daniel 11:31 - a evil personage takes away the daily sacrifice and Sets up the abomination of desolation)
(4)(Daniel 12:12 - the taking away of the regular sacrifices is again connected to the abomination of desolation
12 - And from the time the regular sacrifice is abolished, and the abomination of desolation is set up, there will be 1,290 days.
If an evil personage is associated in three places (Daniel 8:9-12; 11;31; 12:11) with the taking away of the daily sacrifices and the abomination of desolation, why all of a sudden is it Christ a good guy being spoken of in Daniel 9:27?
Many who say Christ is spoken of in Daniel 9:27 never comment of the three other references to the abomination of desolation that speak of a evil personage. Also, in these four references, every time the taking away of daily sacrifices is mentioned it is mentioned in tandem with the abomination of desolation.
All can be answered by the real person Antiochus Epiphanes who profaned the temple and placed a statue of Zeus (Jupiter) on the altar- the abomination of desolation.
Hardly anyone knows about this man’s reign of terror in Jerusalem (for 3.5 years I might add); if they did they would understand he fulfilled all three of the scriptures you mention.
I mentioned four verses and not three.
It seems inconsistent to say that in three passages that speak of taking away the daily sacrifices and setting up the abomination of desolation it is Antiochus Epiphanes and in Daniel 9:27 the person who takes away the daily sacrifices and brings an abomination is Christ. Changing horses mid stream it seems bro.
This is good news I guess
Hi Nigel,
Prophecy is not my main interest in Bible Study, but I have decided to study Daniel’s prophetic visions and the different interpretations.
You said:
Israel becoming a nation in 1948 is one of the surest signs of Jesus' soon return.
This took place about 72 years ago.
Just trying to figure things out……………
Where would this fit into Daniel’s 70 weeks?
Blessings
A Messianic Reset
Jesus was the first to reveal that His coming would occur in two stages consisting of not one but two advents. "You have heard me say, I am going away and am returning to you" (John 14:28). The disclosure of this previously hidden mystery resulted in a divine reset of staggering proportions in the Messianic understanding of Jesus' disciples. Yet, unforeseen to the community of faith even then was the long interval of time that would transpire between the two comings. Unanticipated also was the almost unimaginable reality that for a majority of the interim between the two appearances, the covenant nation itself would be in exile.
The return of the exiled nation to the land and its eventual messianic redemption at the end of this evil age was a prominent theme of the prophets. This end-time scenario is impossible without a Jewish presence in the land. Therefore, the latter-day return of a Jewish populace to the region known today as Palestine (formerly Canaan) and the reemergence of the modern state of Israel is one of the most significant prophetic signs to transpire since the resurrection of Christ.
For Daniel's 70th week to occur, prophesied to occur at the "time of the end," there has to be a Jewish presence in modern day Palestine. Daniel's 70th week cannot have already occurred since it ends with the resurrection of the dead which occurs at Christ's second coming.
Just last Wednesday, we finished going through the book of Daniel in our home group. If you study this book and have questions etc., I would be glad to share with you in any way I can. I come from a post-trib premillennial point of belief.
The book of Daniel is the most hotly contersted book in the Old Testament because of the uniqueness of its revelations. Yet it can be understood. Daniel 12:4 states that at the time of the end there will be a renewed interest in the book of Daniel
Thank you and blessings.

That could be worthwhile. It could be done in a civil manner also. People that didn't want to participate would be able to make that choice. I would be prepared though, to perhaps undergo a bit of criticism though because you want to attempt to find out things in detail regarding eschatology that are found in the book of Daniel. Eschatology and the study of it can draw such reactions.
It is also important not to take disagreements as criticism. Great biblical scholars through the ages have not agreed on how to interpret "eschatological” passages In the Bible, nor shall we.
