Revival meeting Times square live mike signorelli
A great takeaway with this gathering is there are people who are sick and tired of "normal" church going and know it will take much more to reach this generation and the hunger of their own hearts.
Many people are tired of going into churches were everyone looks very proper and they act different but on the weekdays they act like the world.
In this gathering there was a release also for the body of Christ to be active in evangelism, discipleship, baptism and essentially all elements of the church "outside" normal church settings. This is radical call for a movement of believers to be living how Jesus wants 24/7.
In the first message there was a call for the glory of God in our lives (which is revival). We are to host God's glory in our lives, by the Holy Spirit.
Revival is Jesus and being closer to Him. God is working in new and different ways let us know judge or think that this is not where a great revival can bring forth.
In a decadent America God is raising up "nobodies" to reach the vilest and worst. The foolish to shame the wise.
Let us not miss out on anything the Lord is doing.
"A best selling author of multiple books and a globally recognized prophet, Jeremiah has ministered in 42 states and 25 foreign nations."
Nobodies...
No one is safe in this age. I find it interesting that men like Johnson can say the exact same things as actual "nobodies", and mean almost the exact opposite.
Can someone find me where apologizing for categorically false prophecy, and than continuing to call yourself a prophet, is scriptural in the least?
Can we see Jeremiah, Isaiah, Amos, delivering false prophecies, apologizing, and still being taken seriously in that office and not being judged in some form, as well as likely bringing judgment on those that follow them?
While so many herald this stuff as end times ministry, I would have to agree, but I think we may have mistaken what type of end time ministry these actually are.
But, it's good that we have a scheduled time for the revival, hopefully the Holy Spirit can clear His calendar for their plans.
To be honest, I watched part of that and was totally disturbed, had to shut it off. Maybe the rest was better. I would never assume I know how God will move...... his thoughts and ways are not mine. I will gladly submit to anything that the Spirit speaks or reveals into my life. I just find it so interesting that after having walked with and experienced the power, love and holiness of the Lord in my own life and worship experience that I would be disturbed spiritually at the core by something that two other brothers find encouraging and God led. It confuses me. Gary, I'm not a fundamentalist in the sense that you use the word. I move in very prophetic circles and have been a part of wondrous outpourings of God. What I saw and heard struck my spirit as false. Not because it didn't fit a preferred pattern, but rather because I had the opposite witness of the Spirit to me. I don't offer that as a guide for anyone else but I can say that others have often testified to my discerning of the spirits so I'm not a novice at this.` I could be wrong, but not a novice. What i witnessed is similar to the prophetic update originally posted only adding an emotional hype or energy that young Christians are so prone to jump into without hesitation. And just for the record, I'm less convinced by arguments for "next generation" moves of God and prophetic utterances about that when the NT always speaks in terms of the here and now and last days being the days the readers are living in and are called to focus on.
BTW, one of my favorite passages is the story of David bringing the ark back into Israel where Uzzah was killed for not treating the Lord as holy AND Michal was rendered barren for despising David's unbridled and "foolish" joy in the Lord. Book end commentaries on the posture of men when in the presence of God. I embrace the holiness and joy inexpressible combination totally, so please no lectures.
Robert,
Wow dear brother, Amen. It is nice to hear from the throne, and not from flesh every now and then.
Ugh.
"Can’t you see what is happening here?”~~ George Bailey, "It’s a Wonderful Life.”
I would have preferred reverential silence and the glory of the Lord filling Times Square like a cloud such that no one could stand in the area.
I can’t help but think what Tozer would think of such a spectacle. Not much, I can assure you of that.
Brother Greg,
Is this what Sermon Index exists to promote?
Is this what the men God has used throughout history on this site existed to promote?
You have so much more influence than you realize dear brother, please see that.
"For there shall arise false Christs (anointed ones), and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect." -Jesus
Brother Greg you said, "This is radical call for a movement of believers to be living how Jesus wants 24/7."
I remember when you didn't believe that was a radical call, but simply being a Christian, simply our reasonable service, simply the least we could do for the Savior who did and does everything for us...
The Lord hid me away for almost a decade so I was out of touch, but of all the brothers I knew, you were the last I would have thought to be swept up in this. Would that the Father hide me away again, in that decade a whole army of false religion and false prophets rose up and took over... even deceiving those that know better...
EDIT: I can't help but think, as this is is happening, Jewish people around the world are living in fear as antisemitism reaches historic levels and the current conflict could possibly be the beginning of world wide persecution; Christians are being killed and persecuted around the world; judgment hangs over practically every nation in the world; and this is what the USA and it's religion is doing...
This smacks of the ancient false prophets saying "peace, peace" where there is no peace. This is a horrific bastardization of the word revival. It's a distraction from everything God wants us to be focused on. As judgment looms over the world, this guy is saying, "take out your phones and text revival to this number". Have to get those follower counts and numbers up, have to make sure there is some tangible proof people attended so we can get the next venue secured... Oh and make sure to buy tickets for my movie.
This is what our generation of young people think revival is... And we have an entire horde of false prophets (I don't think it's an accident all of these men say they are prophetic or prophets, I think it's to serve the purpose of judgment, we were warned and told EXACTLY what would happen) to lead them as deep into it as possible, and make sure no one is seeing what is really going on in the world, or at least ignoring it and believing nothing is wrong because revival is sweeping the world, not selfishness, soulishness, selfish spiritualism, and complete ignorance to the true prophetic events happening.
The spirit of the world is cunning saints, this is tragedy.
This to me, if I didn't know God myself, would prove the truth of scripture beyond doubt. Jesus said, "I have told you beforehand". Perhaps the real revival will be when people finally realize this is apostasy, and that Jesus in His mercy warned us, to the letter, what to expect and the masses ignored Him.
Quote: In a decadent America God is raising up "nobodies" to reach the vilest and worst. The foolish to shame the wise.
I cannot walk past this statement:- "God is raising up nobodies" this is what God has been saying to me for years, from the first moment I heard his voice this is what he has been saying. If you listen to Jean Darnell vision of 1967 describing the Move of God that’s coming to the UK, you’ll hear her say "army of witnesses”. She then goes on to say "Thousands and thousands of people are going to come into My Kingdom through this army of witnesses, through this people movement.”
"People movement”
But he said other things that night.
The group of prophets from Bethel came to Elisha and asked him, "Did you know that the LORD is going to take your master away from you today?” 2 Kings 2:3
These groups of prophets knew God was going to take away Elijah, likewise today there are many who know that God is going to raise up a people, an army of nobodies, but what will we do?
Fifty men from the group of prophets also went and watched from a distance as Elijah and Elisha stopped beside the Jordan River. 2 Kings 3:7
As I have said they knew God was going to take Elijah but weren’t willing to pay the price, to cross the Jordan, they stood and watched from the wrong side of the River. They weren't willing to pay the price in there own personal live.
Simply put - They were on the wrong side of the River.
Here is what I am sick of - look at the description of this event - Revival Breaking Out In Times Square - LIVE
Here is a description of revival when God presence truly turns up in a meeting…
They seem plunged into the depths of Godly sorrow… For some weeks, it was the sound of weeping and the sound of mourning that was heard at meetings. The house was often so full of divine presence that ungodly men trembled with terror-stricken and at the close, they sometimes fled from some impending peril.
When will we stop being content with superficiality and carnality, when will we pay the price in our own personal lives to get to the place where God wants us to be where God’s presence is truly going to be?
Quote from a description of a revival meeting from Johnathen Edwards
"Our public assemblies were then beautiful,” as Edwards later recalled.
"The congregation was alive in God’s service, everyone earnestly intent on the public worship.
; the assembly, in general, were, from time to time, in tears while the Word was preached; some weeping with sorrow and distress,
others with joy and love, others with pity and concern for the souls of their neighbors.
Anyone who does an honest study of revival from the Book of Acts to the great awakenings will see God doesn't act by his spirit according to our personal preferences or biases ...
Come on Col you should know better than to box God in to that one experience you described { beautiful as it was }
Amen Colin.
'I deeply appreciate the fact that someone has taken the initiative to chronicle great sermons of the past. I personally find it good from the vantage point of study and encouragement. We must, however, be aware of the human tendency to idolize the past to the point where we so judge the present body of Christ that we lose our own fruitfulness and hope for the future. 'Say not thou, What is the cause that the former days were better than these? for thou dost not inquire wisely concerning this.' (Ecclesiastes 7:10).'
- Carter Conlon (Senior Pastor of Times Square Church)
This commendation and prophetic word from Carter Conlon to this ministry (and myself) has proven to be true.
I found myself in such a place of critical thinking that I could not accept almost anything good from young Christian leaders or anything happening in the modern body of Christ. It was extreme doom and gloom and world-wide apostasy only.
Of course I still believe in a great falling away and lots of deception that will happen in the end towards the revealing of antichrist. Scriptures are very clear in Matthew 24 and 2 Thessalonions 2.
Yet God is always at work and in ways that are hard for others to receive who saw or have seen God work only in one way. Even if we have experienced the holy spirit baptism in some way we are also in danger or quenching what God will do next if we do not stay in "step" with the Spirit.
"The congregation was alive in God’s service, everyone earnestly intent on the public worship.
; the assembly, in general, were, from time to time, in tears while the Word was preached; some weeping with sorrow and distress,
others with joy and love, others with pity and concern for the souls of their neighbors.”
This is what revival looks like. It is weeping and rejoicing. The older generation has in many instances rejected the move of God among the youth because they didn’t understand it. Read about Andrew Murray, who prayed for revival, and when the Holy Spirit fell on the young people, they became very excited and loud, and Pastor Andrew tried to quiten them down, which he failed to do.
He later realized that man cannot control a move of God.
Was Times Square church involved in this event, given it was on their door step?
I only watched snippets of the vid. Call me a religious bigot if you want. Honestly I was not impressed at all. It didn't sit right with my spirit. I do not like it when people whip up emotions, that borders on ..., well I do not like to say the word.
Are they brothers and sisters in Christ? Probably, I hope so.. Do they use scripture and prayer? Yes.
The thing that really bothers me is when you package Christian messages, prayer and scripture into a worldpleasing, showmanship stage performance.
You would not do that if you were familiar with the unction and power of the holy Spirit and walked in the fear of God.
It is not right to sell an emotional high for a move of the Spirit. The problem is, that when the Spirit really moved, those who are accustomed to the counterfeit stuff will not recognise it.
This is in stark contrast to other beloved preachers featured here on Sermonindex. I cannot imagine that a Keith Daniel, Paul Washer or Zack Poonen would be comfortable to deliver a message in such a setting.
Brother, do you think that young people that have been in darkness, in bondage in slavery to drugs, pornography, that when they get saved , when the Spirit of God comes upon them, that they will sit still like bumps on the log. No, they’re going to show what is happening on the inside of them by an outward display of praise and thanksgiving to God rejoicing, dancing onto the Lord .
Was Times Square church involved in this event, given it was on their door step?
Probably not. They didn't say anything about it in their announcements.
//The thing that really bothers me is when you package Christian messages, prayer and scripture into a worldpleasing, showmanship stage performance//
Exactly.
Jeremiah Johnson preaching with Mike signorelli Alexander Pagani?????
I am sorry, but these guys are preaching another gospel than the one found in the Bible. It is a "gospel" laced with the pagan philosophy of the New Thought movement. These men are to be marked and avoided...not celebrated.
I am a pentacostal, raised in the very heart of 20th century pentacost. I believe in the power of God moving among His people. I have seen the dead raised. I have seen the sick made whole. PLEASE dig into what these guys really believe and preach. It is FAR removed from Biblical teaching.
I agree with Todd. Uugh!
I watched/listened to the whole event (mostly on 2x speed) from the link that was posted.
In light of this discussion about it, this passage has remained on my heart:
Philippians 1:15-18 Some indeed preach Christ from envy and rivalry, but others from good will. The latter do it out of love, knowing that I am put here for the defense of the gospel. The former proclaim Christ out of selfish ambition, not sincerely but thinking to afflict me in my imprisonment. What then? Only that in every way, whether in pretense or in truth, Christ is proclaimed, and in that I rejoice.
While people do not have to agree with (or champion) certain preachers, or events, can there still be a place for trusting Jesus with the results, while hoping and praying for the best?
Afterall, the Apostle Paul was able to rejoice when Christ was proclaimed, even when it was in pretense.
How is this different than that?
Regardless, it pains me to read what comes across to me as harsh comments back and forth among some of the saints here.
I want to commend brother Robert especially for your gentle and humble candor, praise the Lord! I also have to say that I have noticed brother Gary’s writing to be more full of grace in my opinion over the course of time, although once in a while I sense you still get a bit frustrated.
At the same time, I get it, passions can run high in conversations where we have strong disagreements, but still, Lord have mercy. May our speech always be full of grace and seasoned with salt.
I’m so thankful for each of you! â¤ï¸ Definitely iron sharpening iron going on!
//Afterall, the Apostle Paul was able to rejoice when Christ was proclaimed, even when it was in pretense.//
Paul didn’t have an issue with their motivations as long as the true gospel was being preached.
The issue on the table is whether the true gospel is being preached or rather a sinister and deceptively close facsimile.
It is good that God does not require of us that our doctrine be perfect in order to know Him. I guarantee that there are areas, right now, where my doctrine is NOT right. I can say this because I am human and I do NOT know everything. In that regard, we must bear long with one another and have humble discussion about what we believe. I am an pentacostal and a continuationist (not a restorationist). I have cessationist brothers and sisters that see things differently than I do. We have the essentials of the gospel in common. We can discuss our differences, pray together, study together, and fellowship. We can do this because we preach the same gospel, but have differences in how we interpret some passages.
But this is something entirely different. These men preach an entirely different gospel. It is a mixture of New Thought philosophy and the Bible. It is critically important that we dig deep into what they say and what they teach. Paul spoke very harshly and directly when confronting many of the same things these men teach as truths. Believe me, it is NOT the same gospel.
It is true that many sincere believers, with very genuine salvation, are following the teachings of these men. Many people even repeat their teachings, being totally ignorant of their origins. Again, praise God for mercy and for the fact that I can mess up my doctrine and still know God through Jesus Christ.
But it is different with the people who very publicly teach these things. We are to told to not aspire to be teachers, for we will be held to a much higher standard. Starting with E.W. Kenyon, totally pagan philosophy has been blended in a mix with the Bible and has been propagated for 100 years into what we see now with these men. Bethel in Redding openly admits in the writings of their own leaders that they are seeking to blend the "truths" of the New Age movement by redeeming them "back into the church." Their doctrines are strange, unBiblical, and dangerous.
So I agree that we are to lovingly and humbly walk with our brothers when their doctrines don't agree with our own. Maybe we can learn from them and they can learn from us and we can all seek the truth together. But it is not so with these teachers as they lead people far from truth and are destroying the faith of many. Believe me, I have seen the destruction and it is not pretty.
Please study deeply their writings, listen to their "prophecies". Study the Word of God.
Travis
Caleb,
Thank you for the exhortation brother, we can all use perspective from time to time. I am perhaps most guilty in this regard, my language has a tendency to not express my motive or disposition very well, as my writing style has a tendency to be overly proper and long winded (case in point). My speech is similar, I talk as I write, and my wife will be the first to tell you that although I choose my words carefully, I tend to come across mechanical and unfeeling in these types of discussions; and at the same time be overtaken internally with one disposition or another that doesn't match my words.
I could say it's calculated to avoid emotional responses, but that would be disingenuous.
Nevertheless, I also feel that this situation is a bit different than Paul's, and the preaching he was referencing was truth preached from a vindictive and spiteful motive that was somehow or other calculated to directly bring him further afflictions (possibly some connection to the super apostles in 2 Corinthians, in which case it would hold bearing on these types of teachers, definitely invites further inquiry).
Anyway, thank you Brother Caleb for the needed check.
"But this is something entirely different. These men preach an entirely different gospel. It is a mixture of New Thought philosophy and the Bible. Brother Travis, I know what you are taking about, and there are many teachers out there that are
adding or subtracting from the gospel. In other words there is a lot of mixture, but I want to know what these men are teaching that is a false gospel. There were many men in the faith movement that taught many of Kenton’s teachings on positive confession, and our identity in Christ that were not false teachers. They preached the gospel, but on the other hand they taught things that were not in line with the scriptures. There are many false accusations being made against true men of God on these forums. We won’t agree on every thing, but I believe we understand the true gospel message, and that we have a love for the truth, and that we can disagree but still stay in unity. I apologize to any brother or sister that I have disagreed with, but have not done so in love.
Brothers and sisters,
I definitely have my disagreements or problems with some things. But the reality is are we in times square raising a testimony for Jesus? I rejoice in what is being done. God can purify, change and help any movement or church.
All churches are imbalanced and have weaknesses and strengths. There are definitely strengths in these newer church movements that are more viral based on "hubs" (mostly home networks) that are not in mainline denominational churches.
All denominations start as a movement.
It is hard to argue with "holy, holy, holy": https://www.youtube.com/live/bGcQnXXUPkQ?si=9Zi3vjahWCzJu1tC&t=5665
Dear brothers Todd, Travis & Evan, you bring up great points about the specific context of Paul’s exclamation in that passage, and I can see how this is different.
Thank you also for the kindness in your posts, it really blessed me how you all responded.
If I’m hearing you all correctly, your primary concern is which gospel is being preached.
As you saw and heard, they said the name "Jesus” a whole lot during that event.
Like TrueWitness just posted in another thread, the simplicity of the gospel is in Christ Jesus.
Nothing more, nothing less.
So while many are debating worship and preaching styles and even broader doctrinal matters, surely we can agree that the name of Jesus was lifted up in Times Square that night?
Please don’t read into this post as if I am in agreement with their broader ministries, because that is not what I am saying at all.
It is just remarkable to me how some people are mightily encouraged and blessed by something that absolutely disgusts and grieves someone else.
How can this be in the Holy Spirit?
I am perhaps most guilty in this regard, my language has a tendency to not express my motive or disposition very well, as my writing style has a tendency to be overly proper and long winded (case in point). My speech is similar, I talk as I write, and my wife will be the first to tell you that although I choose my words carefully, I tend to come across mechanical and unfeeling in these types of discussions; and at the same time be overtaken internally with one disposition or another that doesn't match my words. Dear brother Evan! Thank you so much for this post brother! I have been particularly concerned with your tone in many threads, but reading what you wrote here helped so much (and our personal email exchanges too).
I praise the Lord for the wisdom and passion that you bring to this forum for such a time as this!
Caleb I agree it’s easy to sit here and be nit-picky on the forum.
If I had to choose between having what the video showed and not having anything (or having some totally worldly entertainment) in Times Square then obviously I would choose what was on the video.
It is true that those in the crowd very likely don’t have any idea of the criticisms we are talking about. It is true that God could have worked in their hearts. Absolutely.
Generally I would have been more charitable towards things of this nature. But several years back I got suckered in to prophetic-y type ministry and to my shame it took me about 2 years to realize what a bunch of utter nonsense it was. So perhaps I am overly sensitive now about things like this because I am worried about folks getting sucked in to the New Agey hybridism with Christianity as noted in Travis’s posts (and it’s good too see you back Travis!).
But I do think there is a danger in saying something is ok just because Jesus’s name is mentioned. Sometimes all we can say is that it is better than nothing, but whether that is truly the case is up for question. It may not be better than nothing and may be much worse.
We do have to be careful…
I was saved under a preacher who led me to some Word of Faith preachers. I listened to Hagin, Copeland, etc…back in the 80’s after I got saved. But I read the Bible and prayed continuously. I got rooted in the Word of Christ. I eventually quit listening Copeland and his false teaching. Then I quit listening to the rest of WOF preachers even though there was truth in their messages.
The Holy Spirit will lead and guide into all truth. The Apostle Paul was glad that Christ was being preached but he also lead them away from false teaching. He also warned them of false apostles, prophets and teachers.
Philippians 1:15-18 (KJV) 15 Some indeed preach Christ even of envy and strife; and some also of good will: 16 The one preach Christ of contention, not sincerely, supposing to add affliction to my bonds: 17 But the other of love, knowing that I am set for the defence of the gospel. 18 What then? notwithstanding, every way, whether in pretence, or in truth, Christ is preached; and I therein do rejoice, yea, and will rejoice.
2 Corinthians 11:4 (KJV) For if he that cometh preacheth another Jesus, whom we have not preached, or [if] ye receive another spirit, which ye have not received, or another gospel, which ye have not accepted, ye might well bear with [him].
Greg, the cults (Mormons, JWs, Moonies etc) many times put christians to shame with their dedication and service. It doesn't mean that they have a valid message. I'm sure many of them are "raising a testimony" in many places. It matters that ministries have the right message, the right Spirit, the right Jesus. Not just any will do.
I believe there is intense persecution coming to the church in North America. People who follow ministries who feed their flocks with nothing but wind will fall away, unless they get a hold of the real Jesus. All of the slogans and false, pumped-up joy in much of the NAR will deflate like a balloon.
God bless you brother.
I will submit what I see as the issues in one broad stroke, and leave it with you brethren.
We live in a day that seems everything is prophetic and everyone a prophet. A prophet is one that speaks God's words, and who lives and demonstrates the words he speaks. He live the life of intercession (intercession is not a form of prayer, it is a life that identifies with the purposes of God in self denial and bearing the cross for specific purposes in God). These men, in proclaiming themselves apostles and prophets, put themselves in a position of judgment from those that truly hold those offices, as well as the body of Christ in general, as we are commanded to test them, and cast them aside if they are weighed in the balances and found wanting. It is not critical to judge "prophets" or "apostles", it is commanded in scripture.
These men are not prophets, and many are documented false apostles and prophets who have condemned themselves, with no help from anyone else (it's your own choice to ignore these things and follow them still, we all must stand before the judgment seat alone).
The entirety of that event was a circus. I know God, I walk with Him daily every minute, converse with Him constantly about everything, I know Him and He knows me. So yes, I know that event was not of God.
Call me arrogant, a heretic, or whatever it is you would like, I stand or fall before my Lord and no man.
That entire event was soul and flesh, and man glorying in their ministries and themselves. There was no "message", only empty and hype driven cliches and "declarations" renaming a city and calling people to superficial commitments that will fizzle out until they attend another event like that, get another dose of mass hysteria and hype, and ride that high until they come down. It's very much like drugs, it elicits endorphins and serotonin in the hype and emotion, but lacks any depth or spiritual reality.
I have attended these, and to my shame, preached at events like this in the past. They are the same now as they were 20 years ago, as the world system only superficially changes, but never does anything differently.
I can go into the soulishness of it; the selfishness of it; the theological ramifications of it... But the deepest irony is the prophetic significance of it and how it is exactly corresponding with other prophetic events. Jesus warned us to the letter about these exact things, as does every warning about last days apostasy and false prophets (please keep in mind this isn't a doctrinal debate, these men are claiming to be prophets and apostles, which makes this situation completely different than a doctrinal debate).
This isn't Calvinism versus Arminianism versus Wesleyanism or other such trifles and time wasting debates.
This is literal false prophets and apostles leading hundreds of thousands of people astray right in our backyards.
We are not just held accountable for our words, but also our silences when we should speak out.
May God have mercy on us if we allow this to continue unchallenged and unrebuked.
Amen ES. Amen RB. Amen Tywaneb and Todd.
Most of the NT is a warning and call to diligence to protect the sheep from the false.
False
1 False Gospels
2 False Teachers, apostles, prophets and shepherds.
3. False signs and wonders
4. False Christs
6. False truth and doctrines or deceptions and lies
7. False brothers
8. False faith
9. False assurance.
The standard of God’s bar in all these things is lowered all over the world in even the smallest of churches. Most of the time the bar is lowered because of an overdeveloped desire to have God "show Himself” and/or to bring many into the Kingdom. Great goals but lowering God’s standards is the wrong solution. More nefarious agendas to lowering the bar are greed, pride and sexual immorality which is rampant.
The mature among us have a priority to protect the immature and carnal sheep. Being on the alert to the false is an extremely important function of the apostle, prophet, evangelist, teacher and shepherd. Paul warned the Ephesian church and elders with tears night and day for three years out of care and extreme concern for wolves and to avoid having blood on his hands.
To say something is better than nothing, or at least Christ is named in the streets, or the kids seem excited, joyous, or motivated is a very strange approach that Paul, Peter and Jesus did not teach or share. Grieving.
ES. Good word. Thanks for standing when it’s easier to step back.
The word of Christ is "beware”. Not of deniers of a move of God but of deception and the false. That is by far the greater encouragement to a last days church in the NT. I would list all the Scriptural support for that statement but I would have to include so many passages. I would certainly appreciate correction but there are not many passages that I can think of that warn against being overly cautious in the last day.
Some people in these posts are either very wrong or very right. The issue though isn’t one of honest people disagreeing. It’s a matter of life or death to His sheep. Proverbs says a fool delights to share his opinion on a matter. What is God’s thought is the only opinion that should be uttered in this case especially.
This very much reminds me of Nadab and Abihu.
They were legit priests, they were in the temple, they offered an offering, they wore priestly robes, they had the right vessels, and fire in it.
What they didn't have was a solemn reference for God. They were just curious what God would do in response.
That fire was soulish fire that originated in the flesh.
Could not God have been more gracious with these two youngsters? Wasn't this just the beginning of the Aaronic ministry? Couldn't God not just overlook there youthful "innocence"?
God had to set an example for all generations to come because he knew that there would be a great temptation to just "dabble" in these things.
I think what seems to be forgotten in these types of threads is that sermon index is meant to be a place of encouraging one another building one another up not a place where people try to rebuke and reprove others with authority that they don't have even in their local church let alone in someone else's church or someone else's ministry.
In a ministry like this Greg and the moderators have an obligation and authority to rebuke and reprove things that don't line up with how they view the scripture.
That would be completely different situation in a Catholic forum or a reformed denominational in what they view would be acceptable doctrine practice and conversation.
God Hasn't placed a mandate or given authority to anyone to extend beyond their own sphere of authority and influence and for most of us here if we want to be honest that is in our own family not even the local church that we go to, though some may be an elder and have that authority.
This type of keyboard warriorism is an expression of diobedience to what the apostle Paul and others taught about how we should carry ourselves while using our gifting and how we should speak to others and treat others.
The only thing that can be said about it is that some of this comes from a place of Pride and a setting of ourselves up with some apostolic authority through which we can rebuke and reprove those that don't line up with our preferred doctrines. None of us have that authority anywhere let alone in the church in a local sense or in this forum.
Disagreeing with one another in love and friendly conversation about doctrinal positions is one thing.
If we feel that God has given us a mandate and a sphere of authority that includes sermon index and anywhere on the internet to be able to rebuke and reprove we have moved into serious error as well.
people that start out as genuine people on the internet turn into keyboard warriors that run around as solo prophets and apostles themselves because only apostles and prophet had any type of authority that would be similar whereby the exacise of authority would extend beyond local church that they fellowship with.
Biblically speaking bishops had authority that extended over and area where they had the right and obligation under the holy spirit to bring correction.
Can I just encourage everyone to just, me included step back from any type of behavior that would seem to puff us up into a position where we think we have a right and a mission to do this type of keyboard ministry and respect this forum and our brother Greg and whoever the moderators are, and maybe contact him and let him know how we feel and not attack one another.
Caleb I appreciate your humility and not wanting to take sides which is a good position to be in knowing that we are all still learning and throughout our life we've been wrong about many doctrinal positions and opportunities to discern.
And hopefully we can say with the apostle Paul that we only know in part and at best prophesy in part but this one thing we do we leave those things that are behind us and that includes arguments or disagreements and press on towards the mark of the high calling towards God in Jesus Christ.
And that we haven't made it, nor are we perfected yet, and not think of ourselves too highly or beyond what we should and like our apostle Paul said treat others as better than ourselves.
I Honestly pray this me being needy of Grace beyond anyone else that I know that God would show Mercy and Grace to all of us and that he would pour out his spirit on us and bring Unity, that we would see the need to beg for mercy for one another and for more Grace and ask the lord to forgive one another for anything that we perceive that we have done wrong to one another.
I'm Reminded by the apostles Paul letter where he says anyone that is overtaken in any trespass you who are spiritual restore such one in the spirit of meekness and love watching ourselves that we do not fall into any temptation.
Let us try to fulfill the apostles commands and be spiritual and if we perceive each other or others as being overtaken in these types of trespasses, restore one another through prayer and intercession and the spirit of meekness and gentleness, and leave the rebuking in the reproving up to brother Greg. 💜ðŸ™âœï¸ðŸ•Žâ˜ºï¸
Sorry for repeated postings, my internet here in Taiwan is a bit flimsy.
There is a fine line between condemning the real thing and thr approval the counterfeit.
Apart from seeking for parallels in the Bible there is also the check in the Spirit. A number of us uttered discomfort, brothers who had genuine encounters with the Holy Spirit, brothers that do not normally have a harsh and phariseic attitude. These are brothers who had seen the good, the bad, and the ugly.
Everybody is responsible for his words and actions. That encompasses the OP and the commentators.
Sorry, but I honestly had red flags when I saw this video and I cannot brush them away without suppressing something in my spirit.
The Holy Spirit approves the things which are of himself and disapproves those things which are not.
Of course, there is always the possibility that we judge things in the flesh and I would be willing to be corrected if proven wrong.
Check 1 John 2:18-21.
Yes Gary, you are right, this is a forum for mutual encouragement. But you also know that many of us here on this forum had that bad experience with hyper-charismatic shatamatashandra-huh-hah.
Yeah I understand what you're saying narrowpath.
But to be fair with everyone most all of us have had bad experiences with religion in general it may be the Catholic religion that could be mainstream Protestant denominations that could be holiness Pentecostals or neo charismatic.
We all need healing and Grace and patience from God because offence in our own heart is something we have to deal with in the end, none of us get a free pass, learning to forgive and love those that hurt us is above all, the mandate that we have from God âœï¸ðŸ’œðŸ™âœï¸ðŸ‘ˆâ˜ºï¸
Gary,
Why does it always boil down to denominationalism and church authority in your posts? It's never about truth, the teachings of Jesus or the new testament, it's always appeals to a sentimental consideration of the subject; and always down to mans authority over the church and what denomination says or does what and discounts who.
I am honestly asking this question, I may come across stridently, but my motive is to find the answer and understand.
Regarding the "keyboard warrior" comment, dear brother... Judge not that you be not judged... Again, I am saying this because I take this medium of communication just as seriously as in person conversations, and what I write here springs directly from my life, and I am only here to obey my Father, even though I don't understand it and it is often humiliating.
Every christian is under the direct headship of Jesus Christ. I personally have submitted myself to the leadership at TSC. Gary, it sounds like you are erecting artificial boundaries to deflect criticism of certain pastors and teachers.
Every christian is called to "prove all things" (1 Thessalonians 5:21), not believe every spirit (1 John 4:1), test the message against God's word (Acts 17:11), rebuke false teachers (Titus 1:13, 2 Timothy 4:2).
I assume you would warn someone against following, say, Jehovah's Witness teaching, for example? You don't need pastoral authority to do that.
Brother you mentioned church authority; it comes down to that in the end because it's the scripture all the apostles make mention of the authority that elders have Paul taught extensively some of his letters were written regarding the authority that Timothy and Titus had and and then in comparison to how the congregation would should submit to that authority it's just the truth of scripture that we can't gloss over and if we are not in line with those teachings we're not in line with the spirit of Christ because it was the spirit of christ who spoke through the apostles. Probably go to any Pentecostal holiness Methodist Baptist and they will tell you about how their church governance runs, I believe most of that is trying to be faithful to the scripture for them.
Look at the letters to Timothy and Titus these are not letters personally to us as congregation we can apply and glean from those pastoral letters but what we see there is an apostle giving authority to either other apostles like Timothy whatever we like to call him and Delegate him the authority that he had even Timothy didn't have the authority to rebuke and elder whether that was because of his age or that was the authority . The whether we like it or not we don't hold the same authority in any church as Timothy and Titus did unless we're in some sort of ascension gift ministry whether it be an apostle prophet pastor evangelist or teacher and functioning as an elder within a body of believers or within the denomination and I'm assuming none of us have that , I know I don't..
Apostle Paul said I planted in a Apolas watered and God gives the increase. We don't Stick our noses in and try to dig up the soil of another man's field and try to pour in our own water when it's not our sphere of influence or authority and that is as scriptural as it comes brothers and sisters. ☺ï¸ðŸ™âœï¸âœï¸
Brother Gary,
You can’t post support of and affirm some minister’s work as a move of God and then when someone questions the work or urges caution towards that work you raise the specter that critics and people of caution are rebukers and have no authority to question another’s work. I continue to be confused by the obvious irony and contradiction. Under your standard, what authority do you have to affirm a work as valid or of the Lord and speak to it. Don’t get me wrong, it’s perfectly fine for you to post and comment positive viewpoints about some event or ministry that you hold and want to share. But what you definitely can’t do is claim you have authority to affirm a ministry but others who question that ministry are operating outside their sphere of influence. Can you not see the contradiction you are espousing ?
Brothers scripture calls us to encourage one another build one another up bare one another's burdens restore one another when we're in sin. Posting a video or a sermon to encourage other people is one thing and that's not a bad thing though people's opinions will differ on that what is it encouraging and what's not. People are free to say that they disagree but when we start moving into slander accusation and judgment. As if we know the heart of ministers for instance like Mike signorelli. When we Start labelling people as false prophets and causing division and argument we really don't have that authority.
Robert brother I think if we look on a Gregs ministry here and then read the statement about how we treat one another in the forums , and I know He's extremely patient with us , We have to be honest that arguing and labeling people as heretics and false prophets isn't part of what we are free to do in this forum this is obviously a forum that has a ministry that promotes a wide variety of speakers from all different backgrounds and denominations.
I'm Hoping and trying to honor Greg and not cause arguments.
There used to be some moderators here but I'm not sure who they are anymore.
But they would have the power to rebuke something that they think is gone beyond the bounds of good behaviour and whether words are seasoned with enough Grace.
Tell me what is wrong with trying to follow the forums rules.
I want to try and do that so that we don't have arguments and let any root of bitterness creep in.
I put myself in the same boat as all of us when I prayer in my morning time begging for more Mercy and Grace for all of us I don't see us as any different I include us all as one so that I don't hold any harsh feelings towards those that I disagree with.
Brother if you or others want to be the doctrinal watch keeper or the doctrinal standard in this forum why don't you talk to Greg and see if he could make you a moderator.
I wouldn't be putting my hand up for that personally. Love you bro ðŸ™â˜ºï¸âœï¸
I totally agree with you Gary on how we treat others. My point is that affirming a prophet is the exact same thing as challenging one. Encouragement and building up isn’t restricted to positive statements. Paul with the Corinthians is the perfect example. In his quest to build up, he had to instruct, , correct and rebuke with all diligence. The purpose ultimately was to build up rightly, strengthen by eliminating weakness and protect what was being built by warning of destructive behaviors, attitudes and bad actors. The prophetic inclined community that I have been associated with generally sees encouragement as only positive affirmation and that rebukes or strong exhortations are not "encouragement”. Encouragement actually is to give courage to do the right thing or avoid the sinful. So every call to do right or stop doing wrong is for sure an encouragement. We are called to encourage one another daily to avoid sin, endure, not shrink back, love one another, identify and avoid false teachers, to judge those within the body engaged in unrepentant sin, etc.
You avoided my question though. If sphere of influence is the standard for all commentary on a man and his ministry, what is the authority to affirm and thereby recommend and lead others to follow a man’s ministry ?
As an aside Brother Gary, slander” is to make an intentionally knowingly false statement about another with malicious intent. One must be careful with that word. To say someone is slandering is to say 2 things that you must have direct knowledge of. Those are:
1. The statement made is knowingly false.
2. The speaker has malicious intent to harm the person spoken of.
That makes the sin of slander one of hate and knowing deceit. A bold accusation for one to make of another. Quite the rebuke I’d say.
Again, the irony of it all.
I think we have detracted pretty far from the original discussion, and i think when we begin to sentimentalize things and focus on men rather than truth, that is when these things go off the rails.
If we would simply stick to discussing the truth of the matter and leave off the emotion, sympathy, and flesh, I think these discussions would be much different.
If you look through the threads on the forum, they always go wrong when someone enters the discussion seeking to play on emotion, or is scared to discern and divide truth because of men and their feelings or ministries.
If Jesus, who is the truth, was the primary focus, and not man and flesh, we would have no issues in discussing these things.
The topic was self proclaimed prophets (people claiming to speak the very words of God), and nowhere was anyone judging hearts, only what was clear in a video, what we saw and heard with our eyes and ears, and what is clearly visible everywhere online in videos, podcasts and sermons. Fruit is knowable, and by their fruits you will know them.
The irony of your belittling of people who utilize online mediums of communication is that most of these men that we are discussing began on YouTube or other social media platforms, and now because they started in the way you are condemning, have multinational reach and have been brought into charismatic folds.
Jesus clearly taught us how to approach these things and gave us an example of how to deal with them (grace is not overlooking and letting things go on unchecked, it's redemptive, it changes things).
Again, this preoccupation with authority and denominations is a bit unsettling, and I can't understand why that argument is always the go to play... It's not about authority, it's about understanding and seeking truth in very volatile and important times.
My advice is simply this: look unto Jesus, the author and perfector of your faith. Obey Him explicitly, trust in Him completely, and filter everything through His life and teaching (His life in scripture, as well as His life in you, if you are in Him, and He in you).
Amen Brother Robert, by the way. Your last post was spot on.
Robert brother I'm going to make this my last comment in this thread.
Let me just say that this thread was never created to be a thread where we could gossip about who's a false teacher or who's the false prophet.
The topic was just sharing what's happening in Times square I've been sharing things like this since Asbury had the outpouring there.
You'll notice that I've never told anyone that they should follow anyone in these videos I've never recommended them I posted them in there for brother Greg and brother Mike and anyone else that might be interested and encouraged by what's going on there.
What happens in threads like this is they get hijacked by people who begine to gossip or throw opinions around about things and people that they've never met personally , or even know what they fully believe and teach holistically.
I used the word slander because in the dictionary if you say things publicly about someone and it turns out to be not true that is the definition of slander in all the dictionaries that I've read and so gossip and slander are close relatives.
I'm not going to Post a big line of scriptures that tell the children of Israel not to gossip and the church not to slander or gossip and speak against their brothers, but James talks about it Paul talks about it Peter talks about it throughout the Old testament that when we speak against our brother even secretly behind their back it's still considered gossip let alone in a public forum or places where possibly thousands of people see.
Brothers if you feel so strongly about false revivals false prophets false teachings false denominations false brethren why don't you start a new thread where you can all spend as much time as you want talking about that, this was never a thread intended for that purpose.
I don't like to get involved in that type of conversation because every camp or denomination accuses one another of being the false prophet or the false teacher or having false doctrine and we can spend the rest of our lives telling each other whose false and who's not, the fundamentalist Baptist will say unless you're a fundamentalist Baptist you're a liberal , holiness Pentecostals will say unless you are part of our oneness denomination you're a liberal, charismatics will say if you're a hyper charismatic you're a liberal,it just keeps going on, many calvinists will say unless you're a 5-point calvinist you're a Pelagian.
This type of ridiculous talk just goes on and on and causes division because depending on your denomination you're always right and the other people are always wrong I'm not saying everyone's like that but that's how these debates go on this Pentecostal says all the other Pentecostals are wrong. Those the don't believe in the fivefold ministry and the apostles and prophets say you're wrong if you believe in apostles and prophets.
Just goes on and on and in the end it just amounts to gossip and slandering the body of Christ whether we know that we're doing wrong or not.
I'm going to sign out brothers and sisters may God bless all of us with Unity and patience ðŸ™âœï¸
Hi,
Has anyone seen the Domino revival movie trailer thumbnail on their channel?
They have a lightening symbol on the i and it is quite disturbing because it is pagan symbolism and rockstars use this as their logos.
That alone would keep me away from this Domino revival.
You guys can decide if this is prophetic preaching. Preached this Sunday. Start at the 55 minute 30 second mark.
Hi brother Robert,
Thank you for sharing this timely message.
This is a warning that we all need to hear.
I really need to be sober and pray.
God bless you
Hi
Quote: Has anyone seen the Domino revival movie trailer.
I have watched the trailer - I just went onto the web site of Mike Sigorni which promotes this movie, as I was speaning time on the site - dontation notification kept coming up saying that so and so had given money.
As I was looking through the site the scripture that came to mind was this.
In their greed they will make up clever lies to get hold of your money. 2 Peter 2:3
Here’s the exact link so you can go directly to the sermon from Tim Dilena at Time Square Church. I think someone asked if Time Square church had a response to the event that was originally posted. I’m pretty sure this is not an intended response by TSC but the timing is very remarkable. See what you think and compare the two.
Praise God for Tim Dilena.
He hears from the same God I hear from. What glorious confirmations in that sermon. That is prophetic utterance.
Would that everyone who attended the debacle that took place outside their doors would have been in attendance.
"If God doesn't judge America than He has to apologize to Sodom and Gomorrah"
So many pregnant allusions to the modern prophetic movement that defiled this mans city. Thank God this brother is at that pulpit for this time.
//"If God doesn't judge America than He has to apologize to Sodom and Gomorrah”//
I realize preachers use rhetorical devices: Ravenhill did all the time. But I hear this sort of statement all the time.
Doesn’t God judge persons? Most folks cannot help where they live.
Here was Finney’s view, 150 years ago: "Brethren, our preaching will bear its legitimate fruits. If immorality prevails in the land, the fault is ours in a great degree. If there is a decay of conscience, the pulpit is responsible for it. If the public press lacks moral discrimination, the pulpit is responsible for it. If the church is degenerate and worldly, the pulpit is responsible for it. If the world loses its interest in religion, the pulpit is responsible for it. If Satan rules in our halls of legislation, the pulpit is responsible for it. If our politics become so corrupt that the very foundations of our government are ready to fall away, the pulpit is responsible for it. Let us not ignore this fact, my dear brethren; but let us lay it to heart, and be thoroughly awake to our responsibility in respect to the morals of this nation.” --Charles G. Finney, December 4, 1873
I think ES and Billy Graham would agree with this wording:
Luke 11:
32 The men of Nineveh will stand up at the judgment with this generation and condemn it, because they repented at Jonah’s preaching, and look””something greater than Jonah is here.
But here it's worded a little differently and consistent with the sermon text quoted:
Matthew 11:
20 Then he proceeded to denounce the towns where most of his miracles were done, because they did not repent: 21 "Woe to you, Chorazin! Woe to you, Bethsaida! For if the miracles that were done in you had been done in Tyre and Sidon, they would have repented in sackcloth and ashes long ago. 22 But I tell you, it will be more tolerable for Tyre and Sidon on the day of judgment than for you. 23 And you, Capernaum, will you be exalted to heaven? No, you will go down to Hades. For if the miracles that were done in you had been done in Sodom, it would have remained until today. 24 But I tell you, it will be more tolerable for the land of Sodom on the day of judgment than for you.”
People and places. Cities and lands were cursed either temporarily or permanently in addition to people. It's a constant in the OT. However, obviously God isn't going to apologize to anybody or any place. :). It's tongue in cheek.
Pastor Tim said someone asked him to watch a video about "10 ways to cast out demons from christians" and he said he was not interested at all. Thank God TSC still has discernment.
A few quotes from a Sermon Pastor Carter Conlon preached during Covid, (26.April 2020)
"if the church had been where we should be, this wouldn't have happened...our nation wouldn't be in the condition it's in..."
"if preachers were preaching the Word of God, multitudes, multitudes would have come to Christ by now...and they would be in a position to influence the culture..."
We would need more Gospel preaching from the Word of God AND have discernment
Markus
