Father, hear the prayer we offerLove M. WillisFather, hear the prayer we offer:Not for ease that prayer shall be,But for strength, that we may everLive our lives courageously. Not forever in green pasturesDo we ask our way to be,But the steep and rugged pathwayMay we tread rejoicingly. Not forever by still watersWould we idly, quiet stay; But would smite the living fountainsFrom the rocks along our way.Be our strength in hours of weakness,In our wanderings be our Guide;Through endeavor, failure, danger,Father, be Thou at our side.Let our path be bright or dreary,Storm or sunshine be our share;May our souls in hope unwearyMake Thy work our ceaseless prayer.

Let our path be bright or dreary,Storm or sunshine be our share;May our souls in hope unwearyMake Thy work our ceaseless prayer. This whole hymn is beautiful. The tune which came to me immediately, is for 'Jesus, I my cross have taken', called Bethany (Smart) (or Bethany (Crucifer) - is an older name). To use it, you'll have to double up the verses - maybe sing two twice - 1 + 2, 2 + 3, 3+ 4, 4+ 5 - just to enjoy the words even more, and take them in. Many more tunes are possible ... this is just a suggestion.http://www.ccel.org/cceh/0008/x000805.htm
