Hi Brothers & Sisters, I feel I must share this amazing website to you all,you must listen to Bill Wiese experience in hell.... (not for the feint hearted), also he backs it up with scripture. This testimony has made me more determined to reach the lost.http://www.fireonthealtar.com/sermons/index.html Click and Scroll down to bottom of page Yours in Christ the KingJusty :-)
Experience of Hell !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hi Justy and everyone,I found a transcript of this and read it. Very sobering words for sure. It so happens that I was sharing the faith earlier this week and ran into someone who said he had went to hell also and that the Lord saved him(it seemed he was a fairly new follower of Christ). His testimony did not seem exagerated. He mentioned that he knew the demons there that he had been 'battling' (while alive I assume) and how they had been with(in?) the different people he associated with. He also mentioned that he understood how important it was to be carefull who you talked to becuase of the fact that the demons followed people. He seemed very sure of the reality of hell.Back many months ago I was out sharing the Gospel and talked with a young man who said the night before he had a dream that he went to hell. Also not too long ago I talked to a young man(same street in the city as the first one) and he related a very strange experience the exact circumstances and details of which are sketchy in my mind - except for saying that he was once overcome by the feeling that he was doomed(and sinking down perhaps?) and as he looked around he saw what he described as idols and as he cried out to them to save him they all shook their heads as if to say they couldn't. At some point in this he related having the understanding that only Christ could save him.God's grace be with us brethren.
Chris,Could you share that transcript? Or email it to me? Or tell me where I can find it?Thanks!ginnyrose
Hi Chris, I found an excellent book by S.B.Shaw "Dying Testimonies of the saved and unsaved" which tells of similar stories in which you have been told. A video you can watch online concerning NDE is at http://www.tbn.org/index.php/8/1.html called to Hell and back, I can only recomend that video or the Angel video(which is also worth a watch), havn't seen the rest.blessingsJusty
I've seen the documentary called "To Hell and Back." It was stirring. If I remember correctly everyone on there that experienced this "vision" was not saved when it happened, then afterwards decided the best thing to do was to repent. :-D
That’s the one, Its narrated by a top cardiologist who got saved while one of his patients was experiencing a NDE.
I listened to the Wise testimony of hell. Seemed very genuine. Some of the comments he made about hell I have heard from others, many were surprising, but after I read the verses they were right there in black and white.
Hi ginnyrose, here's a link to the transcript for you...http://www.all-jesus.com/scriptures/bill.htmSince I have not actually heard the audio I can't say for sure this is an accurate transcrip (except typos). But it seems like it is. Blessings to you.Justy, thanks for the links and recomendations. That sounds pretty amazing about the doctor! It is a powerfull testimony to share. Since you have brought this topic up I have been sharing with others both on the job and in one-to-one evangelisim the testimony of the one I told you about and this one you shared. The first time I started talking about this on the job I just sort of brought it up around several of the employees with something like...'I met this guy the other day...and he said he died and went to hell...what do you all think about that?'. You should have seen how interested everyone was. One moment they were all pretty much talking to each other and then the next they were all listening to what I was talking about.I have noticed that this is a potentially effective way to start up a conversation about God. Firstly, it isn't so offensive becuase you are simply sharing what someone told you they experienced(people get really interested about this too). Then after the conversation starts you could ask them what they think about the reality of Heaven and Hell and where they think they will go. And from there you can go into the Law and then grace. Also, I have been using it in one-to-one evangelisim to drive home the point about future judgement and the reality of hell. I ran into two professing wicans today and they seemed very confident about dying and what would happen to them. Then I shared the story and I think it was helpfull. Letsgetbusy, you're right, there was alot in there that refrenced scripture. I haven't examined the verses closely myself yet. Definitely the part about having a body that could not die brings to mind Mark 9:44. The unending nature of it really stood out too.Peace be with you all in Christ.
Any one know where I may find a the video of Bill Wiese experience in hell?
I have an uneasy feeling in my spirit about this testimony. For one thing, he quotes a lot of Scriptures but many of them seem out of context and it seems to me they are being forced to fit his "experience".For example, the Scriptures he quotes after describing his being tormented by demons in hell just don't fit. There's nothing in Scritpure that says demons will be ruling in hell as some kind of tormentors, rather the Scriptures suggest that the demons will be tormented...And when he was come to the other side into the country of the Gergesenes, there met him two possessed with devils, coming out of the tombs, exceeding fierce, so that no man might pass by that way. And, behold, they cried out, saying, What have we to do with thee, Jesus, thou Son of God? art thou come hither to torment us before the time? (Matthew 8:28-29)And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever. (Revelation 20:10)Mr. Wiese quotes from Isaiah 14 at this point in his testimony; the context there is of the judgement of the king of Babylon. It is speaking about his going down to the grave but I believe it is reading alot into that passage to use it as proof of actual prison cells in hell and demons ruling and tormenting those in hell. That was just the first part of his testimony, I didn't really read beyond there because what I had read so far seemed unscriptural to me. Just trying to "prove all things."Don't get me wrong, I know hell is real and the torments there will probably be a thousand times worse than anything this man has described; eternal separation from my beloved Lord is more terrifying than I care to imagine. I just don't know about this testimony. :-(In Christ,Ron
Hi Saints,Thanks for the evangelist tips Chris, I will use them.Paul, the video can be found at http://www.freecdtracts.com/ also there's other encouraging cd's to listen to, it's ok to copy and distribute them, in fact that's the purpose of the web-site.You will also hear kenneth Hagin's testimony at the end of the videoFor His gloryJusty
Hi Ron,Must echo your sentiments as well. That was just the first part of his testimony, I didn't really read beyond there because what I had read so far seemed unscriptural to me. Just trying to "prove all things."Got perhaps a bit further than that but had the same sense;I have an uneasy feeling in my spirit about this testimony. For one thing, he quotes a lot of Scriptures but many of them seem out of context and it seems to me they are being forced to fit his "experience".Difficult to ascribe either more or less to what this man experienced, that not really being the issue, but as you stated; "prove all things."
Hi everyone. To InTheLight and Crsschk, thank God for your caution and admonition to prove all things. It is a needed reminder for us.I think that right now I am holding very loosely the ideas I have about the exact nature of Hell and the future punishment. I often tell people very frankly that I am not really sure what it will be like exactly. However, I do share with them the insights our Lord gave us, such as there being outer darkness and there being weeping and gnashing of teeth. These are often enough to cuase alarm. So for certain we know it is a place to be shunned at all costs. I am also fairly certain that the duration of it is uniformly unending for all. That said, perhaps there is enough refrence in the testimony for us to examine this topic together and compare it with Scripture? Now, I do not mean to suggest we approach this with a mind to satisfy some curiosity becuase I think there is a danger in handling Scripture that way. And maybe this has already been covered in another topic? If nothing else perhaps we can share what we do know together for mutual benefit.InTheLight, I saw you mentioned thisFor example, the Scriptures he quotes after describing his being tormented by demons in hell just don't fit. There's nothing in Scritpure that says demons will be ruling in hell as some kind of tormentors, rather the Scriptures suggest that the demons will be tormented...A couple verses came to mind. If you would like, let me know what you think about them and if they apply? One is Matthew 18:34 And his lord was wroth, and delivered him to the tormentors, till he should pay all that was due unto him.The other was Rev 9:11.Thanks all,Richest blessings to you.
I have one question, can the parables of Jesus be taken for literal?John 16:25 These things have I spoken unto you in proverbs: but the time cometh, when I shall no more speak unto you in proverbs, but I shall shew you plainly of the Father. For example, if the parable about the Rich man and Lazarus is an allegory or a metaphor, why are we taking it to mean something that is literal?Remember Jesus was made under the law, that means that He too was a shadow, what He spoke He spoke in shadows and metaphors. When He died and rose again, He spoke plainly at the dawning of a new day. This Day have a begotten thee, the Daystar rising in our hearts giving us the understanding to understand and know all things. A whole new creation was birthed, behold all things are new. Some of you may have been startled by the statement that Jesus was a shadow. I say that because you must consider this verse;2 Corinthians 5:16 Wherefore henceforth know we no man after the flesh: yea, though we have known Christ after the flesh, yet now henceforth know we him no more.17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.So is hell a metaphor or is it a real tormenting place, if that is true, than all the parable should be taken literally, and if your hand causes you to sin you must literally cut it off. You must pluck out your eye if your eye is causing you to sin. There are no exceptions, just because its not convient, either it's literal or it's not. It's easier to believe in hell in our minds than to cut one's hand off.Think about it, don't be so gullible.Karl ;-)
Hi Chris,Not to step on Ron's toes here, but the passage in Matthew would be quite the stretch to apply in that fashion considering the context it was spoken in. Karl has a point, sort of ...But I did enjoy and pardon the combining here of these two from your comments;I think that right now I am holding very loosely the ideas I have about ... However, I do share with them the insights our Lord gave us, such as ... That, as a combined statement is very much my own particular sentiment on many an item. How much trouble could this simple statement save us?
John 16:25 These things have I spoken unto you in proverbs: but the time cometh, when I shall no more speak unto you in proverbs, but I shall shew you plainly of the Father.Karl, am no expert but think you may be mixing up metaphors here, no pun intended."These things", which 'things'? What is the context He was speaking in?Joh 16:25 - In Proverbs - That is, words which, besides their plain, literal meaning, have another, viz. a spiritual or figurative one. I have represented heavenly things to you through the medium of earthly. ~ Adam ClarkeJoh 16:25 - These things have I spoken unto you in proverbs,.... Concerning his Father, and his Father's house, and the many mansions in it, of his going to prepare a place for them there, and of the way unto it, all which they seemed not to understand; of the nature of communion with him and his Father, and of the manifestation of them to them, so as not unto the world, which they could not account for; of their union to him under the simile of the vine and its branches; and of his departure from them, and return unto them; and of the sorrow that should follow upon the one, and the joy that should attend the other, set forth in the case of a woman in travail, having sorrow, and being joyful when delivered. All which, one would think, were plain and easy to be understood; but such was the then present state and case of the disciples, that these all seemed as proverbs, parables, and dark sayings, which they did not clearly understand: wherefore our Lord says, but the time cometh; meaning either the time of his appearing unto them, after his resurrection, or the day of Pentecost: when I shall no more speak unto you in proverbs, but I shall show plainly of the Father; by pouring forth his Spirit upon them, who should not only take of his things, but of his Father's also, and show them unto them clearly and plainly; so as that they should have a clear understanding of them, as they were capable of; of the perfections of his nature, his distinct personality, his being the Father of Christ, and of all the elect in him; of his everlasting love to their persons; of his choice of them in Christ; of his covenant with them in him; of his mind and will concerning them, and his gracious designs towards them; of his Father's house, and the way to it; and of the nature, design, and usefulness of his going to him; of the distinction between speaking in parables and dark sayings, and speaking plainly, openly, and apparently; see Num_12:8. ~ John GillSomebody surely could come along and explain a more proper hermenutic towards this.Remember Jesus was made under the law, that means that He too was a shadow, what He spoke He spoke in shadows and metaphors. I say that because you must consider this verse;2 Corinthians 5:16 Wherefore henceforth know we no man after the flesh: yea, though we have known Christ after the flesh, yet now henceforth know we him no more.17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.Startled? More puzzled really. Wouldn't know where to begin with this. Something is really mixed up here. Where are you getting this stuff Karl? It's starting to sound almost esoteric going across some of your posts.Think about it, don't be so gullible.Don't be so accusatory brother, it's not needed.
I read most of the testimony, and among the first red flags I saw was when he mentioned Kenneth Hagan....I always though he was a false prophet...and if this fellow is a friend of his, how can one trust his writings? I agree, too, hell is so bad, so awful, so dreadful, it could stretch man's imagination to visualize it. Even so, when you do, you come up with something do dreadful it about makes you go crazy when you have loved ones who are living unrepentent lives and you know this will be their destination unless the LORD would intervene before that great and dreadful day...ginnyrose
ChrisJD, I agree that any ideas on the nature of hell and the punishment there must be loosely held. And I agree that what descriptions we do have of it in Scripture are enough to cause great alarm. If you would like, let me know what you think about them and if they apply? One is Matthew 18:34This verse does make one tremble because it doesn't just mention prison but torment. Frightful to think about it. In Matthew 9 Jesus spoke about hell as a place where "the worm dieth not" and "the fire is not quenched." I have read several commentaries that suggest this refers to the conscience and memories and I just listened to a sermon not too long ago out of Times Square Church where this very thing about the conscience and memories being the tormentor of hell was mentioned (I'll have to see if I can find the sermon and post a link here). In a certain sense I suppose it could be the demons who are seen as the tormentors because they are the ones who tempt us here to accomodate the flesh and the world. Those in hell may eternally be reminded of the consequnces of their response to those temptations. Could it be the remembrance of the rejections of the simple gospel while here on earth that would be the greatest torment of hell? Or could it be the remembrance of standing in the presence of perfect Love on Judgment Day and then having to be banished from that presence for all eternity (shudders)? As far as the Revelation verse goes, the whole passage there is obviously figurative with locusts and scorpions and such. Could this mention of Abaddon just be a personification of perdition? In Christ,Ron
Hi InTheLight, I'm glad you could share some ideas about this. It is good to be able to talk to other sincere believers about the reality of these things. I pray that we all will always remember to prefer one another and through this find the truth and understanding that the Lord would have for us and that honors Him before all and in the eyes of all.Ginnyrose, I can definitely empathise with your feelings about this. I have been living for some time now with much grief and anguish for the lost and even now write with tears. It is hard. May God comfort you in this.InTheLight, I had intended to respond to some of the points you brought up but I don't think I can right now. I would like to talk some more a little later.God bless for now,Chris
Brother Mike said:Don't be so accusatory brother, it's not needed. No one is accusing anyone, adding caution is what we all should do when we are studing holy writ, wouldn't you agree?Where are you getting this stuff Karl?I am not reading any books besides the bible if that is what your aiming. As I write, a scripture comes to mind and it opens up to me like a flower blooming and I see it and receive it because the bloom is pointing to Jesus. All that I have written in todays posts are things that I have never seen before. But I also know that they are not knew, Paul knew these things to. Am I greater than Paul? No!Do you know that the revelations that Paul received people are saying today that Paul must have been crazy or lost his mind on certain issues. If we don't understand a thing, doesn't mean it's wrong, it means that we don't understand what is being said. Only the Father can reveal this to you, only the Father can impart this understanding into your spirit and make real to you. The letter killeth its the Spirit that gives life, I want life, don't you? Sure you do, we all want life, and life more abundantly.I want to leave one last thought, If believers believe that they have all the truth down pat than why are we so divided? Jesus said, the TRUTH SHALL MAKE YOU FREE. As long as there are lies, traditional lies and contemporay lies there will always be divisions among us.And I am saying this in a quiet meek way, not judging at all.Karl
Hello folks:\tI downloaded this message on mp3 from fireonthealter last fall, and found it to be quite interesting.. A couple of weeks ago, I came across the message in video and downloaded it. As I watched the video, I had some concerns with some of the statements, and claims, however I was greatly concerned with some of the people he chose to share their testimony. I believe that this message should be viewed with caution and discernment. The following verse of scripture came to mind as I was watching the video.Luk 16:31 And he said unto him, If they hear not Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded, though one rose from the dead. Greg :-o
Karl,Your posts disturbs me.First you imply that hell may not be an actual place....so heaven is not either, then? Right?About Paul: that people must think he is crazy: who thinks he is crazy? and what did he say is crazy? The only people I know who would say that are the ones whose toes are being stepped on. Now tell me: what does Paul teach that is crazy? So Jesus said to cut off the hand if it offends you: perhaps you should if you have a problem with stealing...on the other hand if you knew this would be a possibility, you just might be motivated to conquor that sin by some less painful means...But Jesus is right: it is better to lose your hand then to spend eternity in hell. This statement alone should convince you that hell exists.Karl, I sense in you a questioning spirit who is on the threshold of discarding scripture not in tune to your likening. You want to pick and choose what to believe and create your own belief system. This is dangerous, sir! that is New Age! Perhaps you have an abiding sin you need to confess and repent of? I am only asking, Karl, I do not know you, but the questions/statements you are making sound awfully dangerous to me if this is what you really belive. Karl, you must approach the scriptures with the mentality that "here I am, what do YOU have to teach me?" and then listen, be teachable. It is not so difficult if you you are of a humble spirit and you are listening to the Holy Spirit.ginnyrose
Ginnyrose, I can definitely empathise with your feelings about this. I have been living for some time now with much grief and anguish for the lost and even now write with tears. It is hard. May God comfort you in this.I heard a quote from D.L. Moody that went something like this, "When we preach on Hell, we might at least do it with tears in our eyes." I'm not preaching here but I am convicted that I can even speak about these things here without tears. Perhaps I will keep quiet now and pray...In Christ,Ron
Hi Healingwaters...I have one question, can the parables of Jesus be taken for literal?...So is hell a metaphor or is it a real tormenting place, if that is true, than all the parable should be taken literally, and if your hand causes you to sin you must literally cut it off. You must pluck out your eye if your eye is causing you to sin. There are no exceptions, just because its not convient, either it's literal or it's not. It's easier to believe in hell in our minds than to cut one's hand off.Think about it, don't be so gullible. The problem with your argument lies in the fact that Hell is mentioned in places other than just the Rich Man and Lazarus parable. I suggest opening up the good ol' Strong's and looking up the verses pertaining to the word "Hell." You'll notice that most of the time, Hell was not mentioned in the form of a parable. :-(
True Chris, However Christ was made under the law, all the words of Jesus are metaphorical, He gives natural examples for those things that are eternal. For example, the gospels are littered with, The Kingdom of heaven is liken unto this or that. Even Paul doesn't mention the word 'hell' in his writings, tho he does use the words 'grave' and 'death'.The point that I wanted to drive home is that the issue of hell is not that important, the issue of rejecting the Son is. I think that we get our wires crossed when we just preach hell and damnation and this will bring in the masses. No on the day of Pentecost, hell is not mentioned. When Philip preached to the Samaritains, "he preached Christ unto them". Peter preaching to the Gentiles, didn't mention hell. We tend to forget about the whole purpose that Christ died on the cross to begin with, and that was to reconcile us back to the Father.Let me bring this home a bit more, when Jesus said,Matthew 28:19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost. Why did our LORD say that, only to have the desciples disobey a direct order?Jesus said, Father son and holy Ghost.Peter says, In the name of Jesus Christ in Acts 2:38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.Philip who wasn't even an Apostle was in the same disobedience:Acts 8:16 (For as yet he was fallen upon none of them: only they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.)Paul who continued the gospel to the gentiles was of the same rebellion as the Apostles:Acts 19:5 When they heard this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.Hear this my friends, "The Letter Killeth". Taking the literal words of Jesus will only bring more divisions among us, denominationalism will only get stronger, and from those cults form. However, "The Spirit giveth Life".Jesus said, it will be the Spirit who will lead us and guide us into all truth. The bible itself cannot and never will be a guide for the Sons of God because it will kill you, the letter has no interest in perserving your life. It sees you as guilty and it wants to condemn you. However, the Spirit gives life, it wants to set you free from the law of sin and death.Karl
all the words of Jesus are metaphoricalThat is false. I doubt you believe that. Do you? Jhn 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
Why did our LORD say that, only to have the desciples disobey a direct order? The obviouse reality is that the Name of the Lord Jesus and the "Name of the Father, and of the Son and of the Spirit are synonymous.Christ is the embodiment of the Triune God. He is the Eternal Word made flesh. But in Him was the Father and the Spirit. To be baptised into the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ is to be baptised into the Triune God. 1 Thess. begins with, To the church of the thessalonians which is in God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. To be in one is to be in the other. You're point is true that the letter kills. And that to take a wooden literalist view is killing and disregards the underlying reality and truth. The Lord Jesus said, "unless you eat my flesh and drink my blood you have no life in yourself." And they stumbled at His words. But did He mean it? Yes he did. But He did not mean it physically as they took Him to mean but said to them privately, "my words are spirit and life". We do literally eat His flesh and drink His blood, but not in a physical way. In resurrection He became a Life Giving Spirit (1 cor 15:45) and we eat Him as the Spirit in our spirit which is our organ for "eating Christ". So, many scriptures are to be taken not physically but spiritually. But they do mean exactly what they say.To suggest that this implies inprecison in the scriptures is to mis-understand the scriptures. When the Lord spoke in metaphores it is apparent from the context that he is speaking metaphorically. And usually He Himself goes on to explain it and interprete it. When He says, "I am the Bread of Heaven" or "I am the True Vine" He is revealing an aspect of Himself and our relatonship to Him. The one as food for us as our sustanence, the other of our organic relationship to Him as branches in the Vine sharing in the Divine Sap to bear fruit. You are correct in asserting that the focus of redemption and the gospel is reconciliation to God and not "escape from hell" and this is a fact. The epsistles do not dwell on hell neither did the aposltes preaching in Acts. But the epistles do not dwell on hell because they are written to believers. They are written to those who are redeemed and regenerated and have the Life of God within them and the "lake of fire" or "second death" is not an issue. A believer is in no danger of the lake of fire and will, "never perish" but the epistles have much to say regarding the judgement seat of Christ and the reward of the Kingdom with much warning. But the bible concludes with the New Jerusalem and the Lake of fire which is the second death."But the cowardly and unbelieving and abominable and murderers and fornicators and sorcerers and idolaters and all the false, their part will be in the lake which burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death." Rev. 21 So you may debate whether "hell" or the Lake of fire is physical or spiritual, but there is no debate as to whether or not it is literal or "real". Real is not the antithises of spiritual. Real is the antithises of false or "unreal". Spiritual is just a real as physical. It is just a different realm or sphere of existance and of a different nature. The Bible begins with a choice. One bringing in Life issuing ultimatly in the New Jerusalem. The other bringing in death, issuing ultimately in the Lake of Fire. One, the way of the Tree of Life which is taking God in as food producing a dependant life. The other, the way of the tree of knowlege of good and evil issuing in an independant life apart from God.The one, issues in eternal Life leading to the New Jerusalem. The other, issues in death leading to the lake of fire. Two Sources, two issues, and two destinations. This is the record of Scripture from Genesis to Revelation.Graftedbranch
This is a very interesting discussion. I saw the video (the one on TBN site) and also listened to Mr. Weise's testimony. Personally, those things I have not studied in depth, I cannot take a firm stance on. However, some of what I heard and some of what I've read here has caused me to seek a bit.One thing we do see in scripture is that it is not until Jesus comes that the false prophet and beast are thrown in the lake of fire(Rev. 19:20). We also see that it is not until AFTER the White throne judgment that PEOPLE are thrown in the lake of fire (Rev. 20:15). So, I don't know if I can believe that what he actually saw, if true, were people in the "lake of fire".It seems to me, scripturally, that there is a place where the dead go after this life.......a place where THIRST and regret do take place. Concerning Mt. 18:34 though, that seems to be speaking about one's life HERE and NOW. It's pretty clearly seen in people who are unforgiving of other's transgressions, that there is an element of "torment" within them. Also to consider, when the beast, false prophet and devil are judged, THEY are to be tormented day and night forever. If they are being "tormented", it's hard to believe the Lord is using them to be the "tormenters", unless for now, BEFORE final judgment, the Lord allows them to torment the lost dead........Any thoughts? Blessings in Him, Cindy
2Co 3:6 Who also hath made us able ministers of the new testament; not of the letter, but of the spirit: for the letter killeth, but the spirit giveth life. not of the letter, but of the spirit; which is to be understood, not of any difference between the books of the Old and the New Testament, for a faithful minister of the word may and will bring forth things new and old, out of the one as well as the other; nor of the literal and allegorical, or mystical sense of the Scriptures, as if the latter and not the former was only to be attended to; nor of the difference of communicating the Gospel by letters, and preaching it by word of mouth; since both methods may be used for the spread of it, as were by the apostles themselves; but of the difference there is between the law and the Gospel. The law is "the letter", not merely because written in letters, for so likewise is the Gospel; but because it is a mere letter, hereby showing what is to be done or avoided, without any efficacy in it, or communicating any to enable persons to obey its commands, to give life to its observers, or either to sanctify or justify any who are under it, or of the works of it; it is a mere letter, as observed by an unregenerate man, who only regards the externals of it, being unacquainted with its spirituality. The Gospel is "the spirit"; see Joh_6:63 it contains spiritual things, and not things merely natural, moral, and civil, as does the law, but spiritual blessings and promises; it penetrates into the spirit and soul of man, and comes from, and is attended with the Spirit of God. The law is the letter that killeth, by irritating and provoking to sin, the cause of death, which though not the design and natural tendency of the law, and therefore not to be blamed, yet so it is, through the corruption of human nature; and by convincing of sin when the sinner is killed, and it dead in his own apprehension; and by not only threatening with death, but by cursing, condemning, and punishing with it: but the Gospel is the spirit, which giveth life; it is a means in the hand of the Spirit of God, of quickening dead sinners, of healing the deadly wounds of sin, of showing the way of life by Christ, and of working faith in the soul, to look to him, and live upon him; it affords food for the support of the spiritual life, and revives souls under the most drooping circumstances. The apostle may allude to a distinction among the Jews, between the body and soul of the law; the words, they say, are גופא תורה, "the body of the law"; and the book of the law is the clothing; and besides these, there is נשמתא דאוריתא, "the soul of the law"; which wise men look into (w). (w) Zohar in Numb. fol. 63. 2.John Gill
GraftedbranchThank you for your encouraging post. It's nice to see posters such as yourself take what one has said and use it to agree, and also take other words and expound on what you don't agree. I like that, it was a very encouraging post. Most posters just dwell on the negative and responding to what they feel is wrong. The world does this and we picked up on what they do, but it should never be with us. I encourage you to do that more often, to encourage and admonish and we must not forget to warn. When I see a negative post and it has nothing good to say, I normally don't bother reading the rest of it.Some may think that I have it all together, I wish to disspell that assumption, I am learning and as I learn, I have those who love me enough to correct me. So be encouraged and God bless,Karl
preachparsley said:That is false. I doubt you believe that. Do you?Yes, I do!I'll even make it worse, we are not to know Jesus anymore. What He accomplished yes, the name of Jesus yes, but not Jesus.I want to know if anyone knows their bible, if they can respond to this properly without taking a harry fit.Karl
Mike the Letter killeth is basically this:Romans 8:2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death.Spirit of life is what breathes life into the letter, whereas the law of sin and death in the letter will kill you.One is for the mind of Christ the other for the carnal mind of man. One mind will produce life while the other will produce death.Karl
