Lord Of Life And King Of Glory
Verse 1
Lord of life and King of glory,
Verse 2
Who didst deign a child to be,
Verse 3
Cradled on a mothers bosom,
Verse 4
Throned upon a mothers knee:
Verse 5
For the children Thou hast given
Verse 6
We must answer unto Thee
Verse 7
Since the day the blessd mother
Verse 8
Thee, the worlds Redeemer, bore,
Verse 9
Thou hast crowned us with an honor
Verse 10
Women never knew before;
Verse 11
And that we may bear it meetly
Verse 12
We must seek Thine aid the more. Grant us, then, pure hearts and patient,
Verse 13
That in all we do or say
Verse 14
Little souls our deeds may copy,
Verse 15
And be never led astray;
Verse 16
Little feet our steps may follow
Verse 17
In a safe and narrow way. When our growing sons and daughters
Verse 18
Look on life with eager eyes,
Verse 19
Grant us then a deeper insight
Verse 20
And new powers of sacrifice:
Verse 21
Hope to trust them, faith to guide them,
Verse 22
Love that nothing good denies. May we keep our holy calling
Verse 23
Stainless in its fair renown,
Verse 24
That when all the work is over
Verse 25
And we lay the burdens down,
Verse 26
Then the children Thou hast given
Verse 27
Still may be our joy and crown.
