Weep Not For Him Who Onward Bears

Thomas Pollock
Verse 1
Weep not for Him Who onward bears
Verse 2
His cross to Calvary;
Verse 3
He does not ask mans pitying tears,
Verse 4
Who wills for man to die. The awful sorrow of His face,
Verse 5
The bowing of His frame,
Verse 6
Come not from torture or disgrace;
Verse 7
He fears not cross or shame. There is a deeper pang of grief,
Verse 8
An agony unknown,
Verse 9
In which His love finds no relief;
Verse 10
He bears it all alone. He thinks of all for whom His life
Verse 11
Of lowliness and pain,
Verse 12
And weariness and care and strife,
Verse 13
Will be, alas, in vain. He sees the souls for whom He dies
Verse 14
Yet clinging to their sin,
Verse 15
And heirs of mansions in the skies
Verse 16
Who will not enter in. Ah! this, my Savior, was the shame
Verse 17
That bowed Thy head so low;
Verse 18
These were the wounds that racked Thy frame,
Verse 19
And made Thy tears to flow. O may I in Thy sorrow share,
Verse 20
And mourn that sins of mine
Verse 21
Should ever wound with grief or care
Verse 22
That loving heart of Thine.
