Though angels have often beheld of His face,
Verse 1
Though angels have often beheld of His face, But they have not known of His love; Though all His saints knew of His love and His grace, Yet ne'er see His glory above. Though soon they too shall see His face without fears, And know of His glory and throne; But Mary had seen our Lord with His tears, And knew of His heart that's been torn. And knew of His heart that's been torn.
Verse 2
Not long we shall know our dear Lord to His best, We never quite knew Him before; But solace and healings that come from the test, Cannot be tasted anymore. Though praises shall fill up the air on that day, But we shall miss our prayers in tears; The comfort and peace that we gained from dismay, Those lonely times wherein He cheers. Those lonely times wherein He cheers.
Verse 3
Well, on that day we shall have the crown of glory, But then there's no cross to obey; His suff'rings for us in much pain and weary, Can only be relished today. Once entered in rest, no more ail could be found, And no chance to suffer for Him; There's nowhere can we meet the trials abound, To lay up our price just for Him. To lay up our price just for Him.
Verse 4
Precious and few — the chance to bear His name, All chances shall soon pass away; Not much time left to suffer mocking and shame, To labor and weary all day. There shall not be any contempt nor revile, No more reproach shall there still be; So I must treasure these blessings in a while, For through them I mingle with Thee. For through them I mingle with Thee.
Verse 5
Lord Jesus, Thy face how I soon long to glance, For that'll be so glorious indeed; But I dare not escape from the trials each stance, And lose such a fellowship sweet. Grant me, my dear Lord, be filled with Thy great love, Just live for Thee though come what may; Lest someday when I am with Thee on above, Should rue for my lapses today. Should rue for my lapses today.
