Andrew Bonar's sermon emphasizes the importance of prayer for those who are far from God, and the need to approach Him as our Great High Priest for guidance and care.
Andrew Bonar shares a heartfelt letter to his niece, expressing his commitment to pray for the salvation of those who are distant from God, particularly the children of godly parents. He emphasizes the power of prayer and the importance of interceding for others, asking for support in prayer for his own needs as well. Bonar's letter reflects a deep reliance on Christ's sacrifice and the work of the Holy Spirit in bringing people closer to God.
Text
GLASGOW, 18th April 1890. MY DEAR JANE, --I shall try to do as you request. I have a list of names--sons of godly parents--who are still 'far off,' for whom I pray from time to time that they may be 'brought nigh by the blood of Christ,' led by the Holy Spirit. I shall put --'s name into the number. Pray for me and mine. Tell our great High Priest how 'poor and needy' we are, and ask Him to 'think upon us.' With kindest regards to Robert, --Your affectionate uncle, ANDREW A. BONAR.

Application Points
- We should pray regularly for those who are still far from God, that they may be brought close to Him through the blood of Christ.
- We should recognize our own spiritual poverty and need, and approach God as our Great High Priest for provision and guidance.
- Intercession is a vital part of our relationship with God, and we should ask others to pray for us as well as pray for them.
