The promise of the Holy Spirit in his pentecostal fullness of power comes for the one purpose of bringing the life of the church as a whole, and each believer, into harmony with the will of the Father and the work of the son, so that they only live for what God and Christ live for, the glory of God in the salvation of men and women.
The eternal Spirit, through whom Christ gave himself a sacrifice to God for all, is the Spirit who now dwells in us. He has come to glorify Christ, to carry on his work of glorifying the Father in and through us. The Spirit is come to fill us with the love and zeal and strength that will make us live and die that every creature may know the love of God. As we give ourselves to this and wait at God's feet for his orders, the power of the Holy Spirit will come upon us.
