We are praying for a revival. We are praying for a mighty renewing of God's Holy Spirit. Are we really preaching to God's people that the one object that lies nearest God's heart, and for which he is willing to give the Spirit in power, is to enable every child of his to live wholly and undividedly for his glory and the kingdom of his Son? Are we preaching that the one condition on which we may expect a mighty revival, making God's people new, is the readiness to give themselves up to the possession of the Holy Spirit, to use as he will to witness for Christ in a world that knows him not?
This witnessing will begin at Jerusalem, at home; it will enlarge the heart and not rest till it has reached every creature. A missionary revival can only be part of a larger revival -- the restoration of believers to a life of true spiritual exclusive devotion to Christ and his service. A true spiritual revival in the Christian life will be the power of the missionary revival.
