A.W. Tozer asks listeners to pray for him to stay strong in his faith and to live a life of sacrifice, even in the face of pressure and adversity.
A.W. Tozer emphasizes the importance of prayer for ministers, urging the congregation to pray not for trivial matters but for the strength and perseverance of pastors facing the pressures of modern times. He reflects on the Apostle Paul's declaration of having fought the good fight and finished the race, encouraging fellow leaders to maintain their faith and commitment to God despite challenges. Tozer calls for a deep, sacrificial commitment to the Christian faith, asking for prayers that he and others will not become weary but will finish strong in their ministry.
Text
I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Finally, there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give to me on that Day, and not to me only but also to all who have loved His appearing. --2 Timothy 4:7-8
Will you pray for me as a minister of the gospel? I am not asking you to pray for the things people commonly pray for. Pray for me in light of the pressures of our times. Pray that I will not just come to a wearied end--an exhausted, tired, old preacher, interested only in hunting a place to roost. Pray that I will be willing to let my Christian experience and Christian standards cost me something right down to the last gasp! Who Put Jesus on the Cross?, 60.
"Lord, I pray for all of my fellow pastors and Christian leaders. Help us, like Paul, and like Tozer, to finish strong. Amen."
