Peace Instead of Fear

God lives and works today, but it is a fact that today more people than ever before are insecure and afraid. The answer to all fear, an answer which has already been tested and proven in the lives of many, can be found in today's program by Baselius Schlinck, which shows how we can have peace instead of fear. Fear is like a disease which is almost incurable.
Time and again it creeps over us and tries to catch us and it snares. Yet it is possible to be filled with peace instead of fear. Our hearts can be comforted, resting in God's loving care.
We may have the complete assurance, the Father cares for me. His eye rests upon me. His love and his tender care are mine.
He hides me in his arms, in his shelter in the time of trouble. He commands his host of angels to surround me. In the verses of Holy Scripture, he's given us such promises.
Like weapons, we can take them in our hand in times of affliction and tribulation. With these, we can rout out the enemy of fear. And comfort and peace and refreshment will enter our hearts.
The book of Psalms is a special treasure house of such verses. How did that come about? These verses have been tested out in life. They've grown out of much fear, danger, and persecution.
Consider King David. Before he became king, he was constantly in fear and constantly being threatened by enemies, by persecutors and haters, by war, insurrection, and so on. He experienced that these verses brought him help and victory whenever he spoke them out loud or sang them.
These verses told who God is, what he can do, and what he desires. David experienced that there's a great power in these words. So these words which David spoke aloud or sang out before the hosts of heaven and hell have been tested and proven.
They're a power. The Bible has passed them on to us. It offers us these verses so that we can use them in times of fear and trouble as well.
If we do, we'll experience their strength. With King David we can assert, Thou, O Lord, art a shield for me. In Psalm 3. Yes, it shall come to pass that all who call upon the name of the Lord shall be delivered.
Joel 2. Yes, consider such verses to be promissory notes. The Lord's given them to you, and he'll make them good. Hold them up to him and say, It's written in your word.
You are my helper and deliverer. I firmly expect your help. For you are ye an amen.
You cannot renounce your very nature. You're a father who has to help and deliver. I know your word is sure.
It is a rock secure. What you say comes about. Of that there is no doubt.
