The Pointer on The Scales

God lives and works today, and this remains true no matter how many voices rise to claim otherwise. God lives. But who can stand against all the voices of hatred and mockery in our world today? Only he who has actually experienced personally the reality of God.

It indicates whether we belong to the dead, and God is dead to us, or whether we belong to the living, and God is living to us. One man who experienced this truth was George Miller from Bristol, England. He became later the abundantly blessed father of many orphanages throughout England.

From the earliest days of his youth, he had lived in rebellion against God and against all the laws of decency and honesty. Before he had reached the age of ten, he had become a habitual thief and a seasoned liar. At the age of sixteen, he finally landed in prison.

It was when Miller turned twenty, however, that he accepted an invitation to a circle of believers who sang, read the word of God, and prayed on their knees. This was God's hour for him. It became the great moment of his conversion, by which his ruined life was transformed.

From then on, Miller lived in love to God and His commandments. He became the father of an orphanage, and experienced in his work that the heavenly father is not an empty thought, but a living presence. God is a father who truly cares for his children.

Out of nothing, without any aid from the government, merely in answer to prayer, orphanages for thousands of children came into existence. They cost millions, and each time, precisely at the moment of financial crisis, the money came in. God is a father who truly cares for his children.

God is a father who has adopted us as his children, and like a true father, he showers us with his love. He educates and guides us, and does great and wonderful things. Someone who has become alive out of the death of his own sins, and has found a living relationship to Christ and the Father, will unceasingly testify that God is alive.
