The Weapon of The Name of Jesus

God lives and works today. It doesn't matter whether we are rich or poor, strong or weak, courageous or timid, the power of God is available for us in all of our needs and problems. As Lord of Lords and King of Kings, He never leaves His children without help and protection, without a weapon for the hours of temptation.

Today's program by Basilea Schlink tells how a little gypsy boy discovered this weapon and learned how to use it. An encouraging story for us all. Jesus Messenger was the name of an old blue bus which we sisters of Mary had renovated into a traveling classroom.

In it we drove to the slum areas of our city and held weekly Bible classes for the children. Among the many boys and girls who came to the children's hour was also a little gypsy boy, let's call him Paul. Very soon we learned that for Paul, stealing and pinching were part and parcel of his life.

Yet the fire of Jesus Christ began to burn in his little heart and his struggle with sin began. There were numerous cherry trees in the neighborhood. He had always considered their ripe fruit as his for the taking.

Then he started to learn about the strength and weapons of a Christian and how one can use the name of Jesus to fight against all the attacks and temptations of Satan. Paul tried it out and it helped. One day he walked the long way to our mother house and beaming from head to foot pulled out a long shoelace.

Into the lace had been tied many small knots. We wondered what it meant. Then the story came out.

Each time a temptation to steal had been overcome through the help of the name of Jesus, Paul had tied a knot in the shoelace as a token of gratitude. Yes, Jesus is Victor. Now the cherries we gave him from our land of Canaan tasted like cherries from heaven.

Therefore, when the enemy erects barricades in front of you, spiritual or physical, and you would like to give up, hold on in faith to the name of Jesus and claim his victory. Yes, believe and reckon with his victory and his promises. By calling upon the name of Jesus, you will experience victory and catch a glimpse of the glory of God already here and in fullness above.

God manifests himself to the eyes of faith. One name there is, one name in earth and heaven, one hell now. This name is now the key to paradise and gates of hell.
