God lives and works today. He is truly the great physician who can heal our bodies and souls. But isn't it usually true that a doctor makes a diagnosis before he actually begins to treat a patient? That is why God is especially concerned about showing us what is in our hearts, where the infection lies, and what it is that causes our souls to become sick.
God loves us, and he wants to heal and redeem us, to make us into truly happy people, as today's program by Basilea Schlink will explain. A young girl once told me that she simply didn't know how to cope with life. But in reality, as so often is the case when we're unhappy, it was not the external circumstances of life which were at fault.
No, her own bitter thoughts and accusations against the people with whom she lived were making this girl's life so difficult. And because of her bitter reactions, she could neither cope with her problems nor with the people around her. Finally, one day I told her, you're only unhappy because you've bound yourself to Satan.
Satan is the great accuser. He always has some kind of complaint to make. The Bible says in 1 John 3.10, those who don't love their neighbors are children of the devil.
Then I asked her, do you want to be a child of the devil, the great accuser? Instead of accusing others all the time, begin for once to accuse yourself. Recognize what trouble you cause God and those around you every day because of your sin. Ask and expect that the Lord will free you from your bitter and accusing thoughts by bringing your own sins and failures to light.
This he will do out of his great love for you. And then the hour will come when you will be truly free and your heart filled with peace. Of course, this young girl definitely did not wish to be a child of the devil.
It pierced her heart to think that every time she accused others, she was a prisoner of Satan. For Jesus is he who forgives and whoever belongs to him makes no more accusations. Therefore, everyone who has bitterness in his heart against another person, repent so that Satan will flee from you.
Ask the Lord for his light so that you can see your sin as being the greater. Even when the other person has been totally unjust to you, forgive him from the bottom of your heart for blessed are those who forgive. They in turn will be forgiven.

The foes of love must flee now far away. I am redeemed. I am redeemed, for me those wounds have fled.
