To Thank the Father

God lives and works today. Whoever has really discovered His reality and has experienced God's fatherly care in his life is consumed by one thought. How can I thank God? Such a Heavenly Father must receive my gratitude.

And yet, how can we thank God properly? Listen to the answer in today's testimony from the life of Basilea Schlink. On our land Canaan, many friends came to celebrate with us a great Thanksgiving festival. Out of nothing, without human resources or provisions of our own, the Lord had given us our little land of Canaan.

The houses, the water, yes, everything on Canaan. The thought burned in my heart, how can I thank God properly for the great love that He has shown? I realize that as a child of God, I'm not only allowed to experience His love, forgiveness and goodness anew each day, I may also give Him a present and bring joy to His heart. Perhaps you ask, what does this look like in practice? When we bear much fruit for the Lord, He will be glorified before men.

For when people see our good deeds, they will bring the Father praise and glory. Yes, don't we all want to bring the Father such fruits and make His heart glad? The Lord shows us the way. First of all, we must commit ourselves to being pruned so that our sinful natures may be purified through chastening.

In this way, the good fruit, which will bring joy to the Father, will begin to grow. And secondly, we must give the Father our faith. For only when we believe can He demonstrate His miraculous power and glory before men.

Yes, His revelation of love and glory is dependent upon our faith. What a wonderful opportunity we have to bring our Heavenly Father a present, to truly show Him our gratitude. The Bible tells us in Psalm 50, verse 23, He who brings thanksgiving as His sacrifice honors me.

And Jesus tells us in John 15, By this my Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit. The Father in heaven is loving, all-loving, a heart full of kindness, a heart of love and goodness, the heart of the Godhead, and I am His child. I come with my praises for love which so amazes the hearts of His children once full of their sin.
