Raising Your Family For God

The church so they won't be taken or killed. We're here today father. We're in a blessed country So father, I pray that this message Would put Jesus where he belongs and Put Satan where he belongs I Pray that you'll be glorified.

I Pray there will be victory and families lives today Challenges encouragement and I pray that Jesus would reign above everything In Jesus name and everyone said Amen Ezekiel 22 and then we're gonna go to Matthew 22 and then we're gonna go to Luke 24 Ezekiel says and I sought for a man among them that should make up a hedge and Stand in the gap for me The Lord said I found none and I'm going to insert right there any time the Lord is looking for a man or a woman He's looking for a man of God or a woman of God Matthew chapter 22 verse 36 will begin there what Matthew 22 verse 36 Probably on the screen. Yep. I'll just read it from there Teacher which is which is the great commandment in the law? Jesus said to him you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart with all your soul with all your mind this is the first and great commandment and The second is like you shall love your neighbor as yourself and on these two commandments hang all the law of the prophets in Luke chapter 24 verse 32, which I love the last song that we just sang And worship because it really goes along with this verse so Jesus in this text was risen from the dead They he just vanished away from them He talked with them for a minute and here we have as he sat at the table with them He took bread and blessed it broke it.

That's not the verse verse 32 Luke 24 32 if you can't I'll go there and they said to one another Did not our heart burn within us While he talked with us by the way And while he opened us the scriptures anytime that God speaks to us as men and women of God if we are children of God that there should be a burning within us there should there should be something that broods within us that stirs within us as as As the Prophet and the Mary and When she had the baby stirred within her John the Baptist leaped in the womb. There should be an automatic stirring And as I begin to talk this morning about being a man or a woman of God I'm gonna go down a little track for a little bit until we get to the end Because at first I want to talk about being a man of God or a woman of God and then I want to talk about What it is to be a man or woman of God? and some of the benefits of it But the primary reason as we just read in the text that we are to love the Lord our God with all of our heart strength mind and soul The primary reason that you exist and I exist Is to love the Lord our God with all of our heart strength mind and soul and to glorify him That's the reason someone asked you. Why do you exist? To love Jesus Christ with all of my heart and to glorify him That is what our lives are supposed to be about above everything else the greatest call in our life is not serving in the church It's not It's to be a man or woman of God because the be a man or woman of God is the very foundation in the pinnacle of everything The main ministry the core the foundation is to minister to God as Moses called Aaron and her Moses called Aaron I'm sorry, God called Moses up the hill why that they may minister God wants to minister with us God actually desires To minister to spend time with us far more than we really realize He really wants to spend time with us because he loves us Amen Besides loving our wives and loving the Lord Let me say this again besides loving the Lord Loving our wives is The greatest ministry that we have in front of us men.

I want to pause there. I want to make sure that sinks in We have a great calling men To love our wives as Christ loved the church It's a high honor It shows there's that there's a covenant there that God has created between a husband and wife Love your wife as Christ loved the church And it's also to be a man of God is to raise your children to be spirit-filled godly Children that love God with all their heart strength mind and soul raising godly children is one of the highest callings that we have in front of us as men and it's as women as I said in the men's meeting you can write this down because it's very true we either race children to cast out demons of other out of other people or Eventually, we're going to be casting demons out of them It's one or the other let me can I say that again because I see a lot of people writing that down We're gonna raise them in a way either that we raise them to cast demons out or Eventually, we're gonna have to cast something out of them When the Bible says in fight Ephesians 5 23 For the husband is the head of the wife Even as Christ is the head of the church And That doesn't mean that men are supposed to be spiritual dictators in the home That doesn't mean that men are supposed to be spiritual manipulators in the home That doesn't mean men are supposed to be spiritual intimidators That just means men are to be a holy role model an example to those living in the house That we are all as men called to be husbands Priests as the Bible says Ultimately, we're the shepherds and the pastors of our home That's a high calling Someone said well, there's a high calling to preach the word. Yeah, that's a high calling It's a high calling to serve in the church.

That's a high calling But don't you ever allow anyone tell you there's a higher calling to love your wife and to love your family above anything else and In train them in the ways of the Lord Train them now that doesn't mean men that we're gonna be perfect That is I didn't say that There's times that we're gonna fall short There's times that we're gonna make a mistake Along the journey. I've made a lot of them My wife can can tell you that but what that means is to be a man of God is simply When you do make a mistake and when you do fall short Men of God confess their faults Honey I'm sorry. I Made a mistake.

I shouldn't have spoke like that. I shouldn't have been angry like that. I Shouldn't have raised my voice like that and telling your children I'm sorry Because by being Humble like that you're showing Christ to them Humility is an attribute That our children and our wives and the husbands From the wives need to see and I know it's difficult at times Because pride gets in a way, doesn't it? because when you know you're wrong about something and You go to another room and the Lord just smoking your program.

You shouldn't have said that you know That was wrong. You need to get your little tushy in there and you need to apologize Okay And I know It's hard at times And sometimes the Lord I felt has had the has had to grab me by the back of the collar and drag me into the other room I'm sorry, but that's being a man or a woman of God Now, let me say this real quick Don't let your sorry's Be an excuse You can write this down But don't let your sorry's being an excuse to live the way you want. That was good.

Not because I said it That's just plain truth Let me say that again, but don't let your sorry's To give you an excuse to give you a license To keep treating your wife or your husband or your children bad The goal is to strive To be like Christ in the home DL Moody the old evangelist said now this one's gonna hurt. I love it, but it hurts deal moody From the 1800s said if a man Doesn't treat his wife, right? I don't want to hear him talk about Christianity Someone say ouch, you don't say amen. Just say ouch Got one man of God back there We must love our wives men and that's a calling.

That's a mission. That's a ministry Because in first Timothy 3 5 it tells us how shall man? Run the Church of God if he can't rule his own house, or if he can't he cannot even manage his own house How can he even? Serve in the church in other words if he's not even treating his family correctly Now I didn't say that Paul told Timothy that no I can recite We can recite all kind of scriptures by memory. I Personally can recite all kind of revivals.

I've read hundreds of books of old-time revivals I've read hundreds of books of old-time biographies of Giants and the Saints and the faith that just Challenging and encourage you But you know what we can do all that and we can recite all that and that's good That does help us to be men and women of God, but that doesn't make us men and women of God The devil knows the Bible through and through better than any of any of us He's the greatest theologian so to speak above all of us here and yet he's still a devil But again reciting doesn't make you a man or woman of God It just doesn't it may impress the crowd It may impress someone else that you're talking to that you can quote a lot of Scripture quote a lot of biographies quote a lot of history of the church But that doesn't impress God Nor the devil so we can serve in church. We can serve in ministry outside the church in some form some fashion What is this? How do you the love of my heart on the Lord? ministers and ministries Who had no passion for God And no passion for their family because their tree was their primary thing in their life. How do you treat your husband? How do you treat your children we often talk about we need revival in the church, but beloved we need revival in the home We need revival in the home because when you get revival in the home beloved We're gonna see an outbreak of the Holy Spirit in this church or any church in the country We need revival in the we need the Bible back in the home.

We need prayer in the home We need men and women of God back in the home Raising their children rearing them up him and rear them in the way Hold your the teachers and whoever's around you won't stand with you on the day of judgment When you have to take an account for your life how you raised them It's gonna be you and God how you raised them so you better make sure That you're rearing them in the ways of the Lord the fire of God burning in him Christ Who is part of my life? He didn't say that did he? He's a Christ Second Corinthians 5 17 doesn't say therefore if any man be into Christ He's a new creation My Bible says therefore if any man be in Christ, he's a new creation We've got a lot of intos today. I'm in the sports. I'm in the hobbies.

I'm in deficient. I'm in the hunting I'm in the buying shoes. I'm in the clothes.

I'm in there. I'm in there. I'm in there.

I'm in there raising money I'm in the building a business. Oh, I'm also in the Christ and if we're not careful We can make Christ a hobby. Did you hear what I just said? You see how the devil plays on this We go to church on Sunday and that's our that's our religious duty But I want to know is Christ your life not part of your life.

Is he your life as Paul said? Many are struggling time to time Trying to find a ministry Trying to find their calling But the foundation is to be a man or a woman of God Start there and to be a man or woman of God is to spend some ample time with Jesus. I Had an old mentor of mine many many years ago. I Thank God for all my mentors in my past Now I think now it's like oh my gosh now I'm those old as my mentors when they were when they were helping me out We can't sit with Jesus.

He told me one time. We can't sit with Jesus all day But we can't walk with him all day see it's not about the time It's about to read him with him. What's that old him? He what I'm not gonna sing it because you'll kick me out of the church.

I Can't sing. I'll just admit I can sing I can't sing good He walks with me and he talks with me and he calls me His own it's to spend time with the Lord So you can't say I love Jesus and have no desire for This Cannot say I love God with all my heart all my strength all my soul and Have no desire for this book because my Bible tells me in John 1 1 in the beginning was word and words with what's God and the word was With God and John 1 14 and the word became what? strength mind and soul I'm gonna talk about three men I'm really doing good on time. So we're good I'm gonna talk about three men for a minute and I'm gonna see if any of you fall in line with them My first one is Smith Wigglesworth.

Anybody heard of him? Several of you Smith Wigglesworth was a well-known preacher back in a 18 or early 1900s Signs and wonders. I think he's had like 14 documented cases were raising the dead tremendous ministry Tremendous man of God you can Google him research him and he's just all over the Internet and books all about him and all that Good stuff if you haven't heard of him, I encourage you to read his life story But why do I bring him up because this man that did tremendous things for God? Tremendous I mean raising the dead and all this stuff that he did He had this fire for God in his heart and he's called in the ministry and he began preaching and he got and it's plumbing business and All of a sudden he had to pour himself into the business so much That he lost his fire and This is his confession. I'm not reading into what he said.

This is exactly He said his own confession later on in life and that plumbing business Wasn't sin But it was a distraction for the call of God on his life And what that did was he actually stopped spending hardly any time with the Lord His wife began began interceding for him and he finally got the fire back long story short Second man, David Wilkerson had been anybody heard of David Wilkerson Times Square Church. He founded at in New York Wilkerson but died in night 2011 David Wilkerson was known for writing the book cross in the switchblade great testimony great story and he did tremendous things for God well known Pentecostal preacher and Yet his own confession because of the popularity of that book that he wrote So Sword him to preaching to churches all over the country and he said that he stopped Spending time with the Lord, but yet he was preaching He lost his fire over popularity Check your social media status, would you please and then finally the third guy? Duncan Campbell Duncan Campbell was well known. I know a lot of people don't know that name That's just a revival history and the Hebrides revival of 1949 in 1949 Duncan Campbell Had this tremendous it was an outpouring of the whole island.

I mean, it was just a great revival It's a well-known in history. You can research it Even though he went through this revival was the main preacher of a historic Revival after the revival years later after the revival and I'm not joking upon his own confession said this He lost his fire he lost his anointing because he literally was collecting postage stamps postage stamps I'm serious It became a hobby and he got so addicted to it It became a huge distraction Do you understand what the devil the devil doesn't care? What do you distract you with? At all and some of our biggest distractions and I'll put myself there too is your phone my phone and some of our biggest distractions and Being really on fire for God is our phones Some of you can't even not not be on your phone while I'm preaching It's a huge distraction. It's a big it's an addiction and then the fourth I'm going to mention a fourth guy me me I lost my fire.

I lost my passion for God in 2010 been pastoring several years Preaching read all kind of books and revival and history blah blah blah quote scripture My wife and I started attending a church that was lukewarm and I thought I could be the missionary But they ended up I at the I ended up needing a missionary at the end. I started hanging around crowd I Started listen, I want you to listen very carefully because this is my testimony of me backsliding Will you stop going to church? No, I didn't say I stopped going to church You could be backslidden sit in the pew all day long. I kept going to church because that was my religious duty the Bible became more of a chore for me and I mainly read it out of guilt Then passion and I started listening to music That I shouldn't been listening to I started watching things that I should have been watching and Things began slowly creeping in into my life.

It was a slow fade. It lasted several years very slow fade And at once I was really careful about who my daughters because they were little kids at that time. I Was very careful who they hung around But when the fire went out of me for God, I didn't really care if their friends were godly or not It's a slow fade and I praise the Lord that he brought me back and I can stand here and share my testimony now and Help someone else out Because see I'm sure under the sound of my voice right now.

There's someone was just like me You're in that slow fade stage And what I didn't want to hear Being in that kind of a stage and lukewarm, you know what? I didn't want to hear messages like this. I Didn't want to hear strong sermons Lukewarm Christians hate strong sermons because it challenges their comfort zone. They're lukewarm because they love their comfort above everything else You can say amen But it's true.

I Love my comfort above everything else everything else My business became more passion. I had more passion for my business more. I had more passion for my hobbies Having a hobby is not a sin Amen, it's not a sin But I had more passion for my hobbies than I did for God I had more passion for my business than I did for God, but I never stopped going to church and my marriage suffered in In the 28 years that my wife and I have been married our marriage suffered greatly during that time Revival in the church.

Yes But revival in the home even better So let me say this I've had so many couples come up to me and ask counseling through pastoring or through messages on social media text me sitting down and talking a husband and wife Need marital counseling if everything I said this morning You didn't hear much of please. Listen to what I'm getting ready to say right now because every person every marital couple husband and wife sit in front of me and They can't begin sharing their problems with me and I listen And I listen She's this he's that I don't like this. He's driving me nuts.

I don't you know, we're about done This is this is gonna end in the divorce blah blah blah. Here it is and They get quiet and they listen to me What does Brent have to say I? always say When did you stop spending time with God? When did you stop fasting for each other? When did you stop reading the Word? You know what they say to me. How did you know? Because you're sitting in front of me Because if this is off this is off and if this is off this is off Always remember that you always know the enemy's attacking your marriage You stop spending time with God you stop that passion and the fire for God I'm gonna assure you the devil is gonna gun for your marriage.

He's gunning for your marriage right now He wants to destroy your marriage. She wants to destroy your kids He wants to get to that man of God that father in the house. He wants to get to him He may have to use the wife He may have to use the kids to get to him, but he's after the father because he's the head of the house He's trying to he's trying to cut the snakes head off He wants him in Order to get to him.

He's got to get him out of the prayer closet men of God You stay in that prayer closet. You continue to seek the Lord with all your heart strength mind and soul You will find all your strength in there. I understand Maybe your wife is maybe contentious or maybe your husband is even contentious I assure you there's grace and God can get you through it.

God can get you through it in Jesus name But you stay on your knees you pray you fast you keep going after God and he'll pull you through it. Amen But that's where I'm talking that's I always always always see husbands and wives I mean, I just can't drive that home enough They stopped praying and they stopped fasting Which means simply they're stopped making Jesus the center of their home See the enemy again John 10 10 the enemy seeks to kill destroy and to steal That's what he's trying to do above everything in your life his whole purpose in his life So to speak is to destroy kill your family anyway, any Whether it's a postage stamp, whether it's a business Whatever it is. He's gonna get you off of your knees one way or another.

That's what he's trying for Oh, he'll keep you going to church I believe the devil will keep you going to church and keep you religious religious for Jesus But no relationship My question for you Do you burn hot for Jesus? Do you burn hot for Jesus I don't I didn't ask you if you're a christian I didn't ask you if you're saved. I didn't ask you if you want the church I didn't ask if you read your bible. I didn't ask if you pray do you burn hot for Jesus? Is Christ your life? You slowly stop reading the word You slowly stop praying for lost souls And I often found when I was lukewarm Backslidden no fire for god.

That's one of the things. I really didn't care much much about I didn't pray for lost souls that much because I didn't really care. I was more praying about myself my own needs praying praying for my family But see if the devil can get to your fire and water that down That begins a downward trickle that unravels everything in your life I'm, not putting myself on a pedestal whatsoever But this is a kind of a message that will hates because he's after your fire above everything else He doesn't want you hungering and thirsting after righteousness And god really does love us He really does And I cannot tell you how much he desires to have an intimate relationship with you or I it's important to him We serve a loving god And he tremendously has a desire to spend time with you But we've got too much going on We can watch hours of reels we can watch hours of podcasts We can watch movies tv Hobbies, but we have no time for jesus.

We have no time for the bible Did you know that the average pastor in america according to well many research actually but george barner research That the average pastor today spends less than five minutes a day in the bible Did you know the average lay person in the church spends less than five minutes a day in the bible? Less than five minutes And did you know that the average pastor in america? And i'm not picking on john. I know he's a man of god. That's why i'm not saying this But i'm just saying the average pastor The average pastor confesses that the only time they read the bible is to get a sermon The only time they read the bible is to get a sermon We've got past over 50 percent of pastors in the american church are addicted to pornography They're saying upwards towards 80 percent of youth pastors are addicted to pornography Dear god, we've got a crisis on our hand I know that's not comfort to hear that kind of stuff on father's day But i'm just speaking truth We need god Not only back in the home.

We need god back in the church in jesus name and parents What you miss church for? Your kids will miss church for later on that's true What you miss church for parents Later on you're teaching and training your kids to to miss church for the same thing For the same thing As parents as men we are the examples are supposed to be the priests of our home john 17 verse 3 Says life eternal to them that know god That know god They didn't say be a christian. They didn't say be saved. I didn't say go to church.

I didn't say to know god Do you know god? Are you striving to know god? Do you burn to know god you say well At the toward toward the end of my message here preacher you've kind of convicted me You know what i'm gonna I'm gonna i'm right now. I'm gonna get committed. I can just hear some minds right now I'm gonna get committed and i'm gonna start reading the bible every day Preacher you just convicted me.

I'm just i'm i'm gonna get committed and i'm gonna pray every day If that's you you missed my point of my entire sermon You just missed my entire sermon. You weren't listening I asked you is christ your life I asked you You burn for him because being a christian means little christ Means our goal is to strive to be like him literally Christianity simply means our goal is god. It's not happiness.

It's not blessing. It's god and god alone amen Our three top goals in life Should be this three things You can write them down our three top goal you got your pen and paper ready our three top goals number one Jesus Number two the second most important goal in your life Jesus And the third greatest goal in your life write it down Jesus that was pretty heavy stuff, you know No, because you know why if you get jesus as your main purpose and goal and passion for your life Guess what? Everything falls into place your marriage falls into place Your finances fall into place your home falls into place your kids fall into place you get jesus christ is your life That means everything falls into place If christ is your life If he's exalted above everything else in your life in your home I promise you I didn't say it was going to be perfect. I didn't say storms weren't going to come I'm just saying that everything will be on the up and up Everything will be part.

You're making god the priority in your life And I the problem with american christianity I see it so much. We're just making jesus a part of our life Paul says in philippians. I want to know him I want to know him What he means is I want to know him more How many of you say man? I want to know god more I want to know jesus more I want to know him He's my passion.

He's my goal of everything in my life Do you need the fire? And i'm closing right now Do you need the fire this morning on father's day? jesus in the book of revelation chapter two He scolded the ephesus church. He rebuked the ephesus church Because they carried a lot of things They were against evil They were discerning Who was false preachers and who wasn't? They had a lot of good things going on And I see this happening a lot We get so pompous We can say because it's so easy to say this I'm against abortion. I'm against killing babies in the womb And for christians, that's easy to say It's an easy truth, right? I'm against gay marriage That's easy to say well for the most part and sometimes that can actually It makes us feel good Oh, I spoke truth.

I can post that on facebook or I liked it and I can carry that on I'm against abortion. I mean that's good. You're against it But are you for god are you for god Because jesus said to the ephesus church As he lists all the things that they were doing good They were against sin they were against the evil Jesus said these are good things But you know what he said You've left your first love And what do you mean by that is as simply as this as what i've been saying this whole time You've lost your fire ephesus church You've lost that burning fire that burning desire for god And I know exactly How this feels what i'm getting ready to say For some of us and for me We go to church we've been the church for 50 years i'm just throwing out a number we've been the church all our life We know when to raise our hand.

We know when they say amen. We know when to say hey brother, we know We got the scriptures ingrained in us. We were taught And sometimes listen carefully what i'm saying is Just listen carefully if I can say this right lord help me Sometimes we can allow our knowledge To be our passion I want that to sink in You may have been the church for 30 40 50 60 years You may know the bible through and through you may have taught the bible you may have served for many years And sometimes the knowledge of our past Makes us feel spiritual follow me It's because the lord's really been talking to me a lot lately about this Because it's so easy to deceive the bible talks about in the last days.

We shall deceive our own selves possibly, right? And the enemy can deceive or help deceive ourself because we carry a weight of the past with us And we say that's spiritual but that's not fire Jesus said he who endures to the end shall be saved And what I really believe when jesus said that is he who endures with the fire the passion To know god when you love god's mind and soul You're going to want to know other you want others to know about the love of god, too. Amen Because in research history may never be asked to preach it I'm joking But you know that the average church in america two percent of the people in the church witness That means 98 don't and that's not trying to be condemnful at all. That's just telling me Christ has got to be on the throne again Christ has got to be on the throne again I remember when I got saved boy.

I got saved saved Anybody can just get saved saved Just rescue you from the hell pit in the grave I told everybody about jesus. I didn't care what they thought of me. I knocked on doors in the community I said you got to get to know god Boy we call it the honeymoon stage That fire begins to slip a little bit I don't know about you, but I want that fire.

I want that fire. Jesus said To the ephes church again He actually told them to remember He said remember when? You burned for me remember when You hungered and thirst for righteousness He says I want you to go back to that I want you to go back Psalms 42 As the deer panteth for the water brooks So my soul So my soul Pants after god And verse 2 He says my soul thirsts after thee is your soul is your soul Thirsty For the one true god in psalm 73 verse 25 The psalmist says I desire nothing on this earth besides god That's convicting I don't know about you. That's a convicting word that challenges me I know this though that God didn't give us this book because we couldn't live it He gave us the grace and the holy spirit that we could Amen and so this morning with the altar call I like for the men the men to stand up for a minute all the men in the house stand up And this is not to make you guys feel bad or uncomfortable whatsoever I'm, actually shy so I don't like this myself either You said you're shy.

Yeah, i'm actually shy That's why the god called me to preach He called the weak things of the world Would you guys declare this morning with me For me in my house For me in my house we shall serve the lord For me Raise your hand guys, come on Let's say that loud for me I want to hear you. I want to hear the men's voices for me in my house we shall serve the lord The bible said jesus said blessed are those who hunger and thirst after righteousness hunger Not reading your bible not just praying But you're hungry if that's you this morning The fire has been slipping You're fading I want you to come on up and get that fire back God, I need that fire back I need fire this morning lord. I need the hunger this morning.

I need that passion Anyone else And for the women go ahead and stand As the men are praying I want you the women to raise their hands right now with me raise your hands I want to hear the ladies voices for me in my house shall serve the lord Amen and for the women If you don't have that passion That you once had or you've never really had a passion for god I'm going to ask you to come on up And maybe your husband's up here praying maybe you can lay hands on him and pray for him. That would be good But this morning my encouragement for you Is to let the holy fire of heaven fall on me Let the fire of god just say follow me it's the old time revivalists used to say Draw a circle on the ground and say god start revival in this circle God can start a revival right there in your pew in your chair right now That when you you'll carry it out to your house, you'll carry it out to the community You'll carry it out to the workplace carry that fire out And not carry hillbillies when people think of you that christ in me is a hope of glory that they may see christ in me That's the goal and to declare and to pray every day. Oh, I gotta quit I'm getting more fired up as I go supposed to calm this down But to to be committed to yourself With a passion and a desire And say god with the earnest prayer help me to live in such a way that others will see christ in me Help me to live in such a way that they'll see christ in me In order to do that You gotta spend time with god see there's times that you're gonna fall There's times that you and I will fall and make mistakes.

Like I said earlier But like I said in the men's meeting When does a rock climber cease to climb when does a rock climber cease to become a rock climber When he stops climbing rocks when a rock climber falls And he doesn't climb anymore he's no longer a rock climber and when Does someone stop being a man of god or a woman of god when they stop spending time with god Because the secret place jesus said Is a special place he said go into that place that secret place and shut the door I'm praying every one of us including myself every day. We have an encounter with god in the secret place That will be more intimate with him than ever before to the end This life is short beloved Amen Is so short You got one chance to do it for god This is not three strikes and we're out. This is one strike and we're out Live on the stretch for god I've never ever in my life read or seen anyone That lived on the stretch for god and regretted it But I have seen many Who didn't and regretted not To live it out this is your chance to live it out for jesus christ.

Amen. Let's pray Father All i've asked before I spoke this message is what jeremiah the prophet said that I would just speak your word faithfully That was my earnest desire just to speak your word faithfully this morning And I hope I did that And god I pray as these men are praying here today calling out to god that you send the fire Of the holy spirit they live on the stretch for god And those that are in the pews and the seats this morning father They're Comfortable where they're at someone may be here. They're comfortable.
