There was still some hope for America in the 1950s. At that time, we were still a nation grateful to God for the victory of World War II. We were thankful to God for the material prosperity that was available to the average working family who saw the reality of home ownership.

In the 1950s, there was still such a thing as shame in society and a sense of decorum in the land. Women went out in public with hats on their heads and white gloves on their hands, and their dresses came down to their ankles. The only ones wearing tattoos back then were sailors, and marriage was between a man and a woman.

We had blue laws against sin and dry counties that wouldn't sell booze. There was a moral code in public broadcasting that prohibited nudity and indecent behavior in the media. The citizens of America had boundaries that were set by society back then, and those boundaries would all be challenged and broken within a decade.

The churches in America back then still preached a God-centered gospel that honored God and saved men, and God was still afoot in the land with sending revivals to our churches. But my Bible says in Proverbs 29, 18, where there is no vision, the people perish, but he that keepeth the law, happy is he. But as we left the urban serenity of the 1950s, we entered the turbulent 60s, and all hell broke loose as this nation became a lawless nation.

That's when America kissed God goodbye. And as I tell in my message today, friends, when America kissed God goodbye, we kissed God goodbye in 1962, when the Supreme Court ruled against public prayer in school. When I was a little boy in the 1950s, children would hold hands, stand in a circle, then we would bow our heads and clasp our hands in reverence to God, and either recite the Lord's Prayer or say the following prayer, which went like this, Almighty God, we acknowledge our dependence upon thee, and we beg thy blessings upon us, our parents, our teachers, and our country.

That's what kids prayed back then, and God was pleased to answer those prayers as he blessed the country of America. Back in public school in those days, we had prayer in reverence to God instead of mass shootings and bloodstains on our walls in our schools. But our schools became a killing field when in 1962, we kissed God goodbye as the Supreme Court ruled that prayer in public school was unconstitutional.

The 1962 case of Engel versus Vitale ushered in a change in society as we gradually outlawed God and the land. And then came 1973 with Roe versus Wade that made it legal to kill unborn babies. That's when we started butchering babies.

Then we became a bloody nation as well, as well as a rebellious one. And then we finally became a perverted nation by legalizing and promoting homosexuality and transgenders. Now we legalized narcotics as well as the wheels have come completely off this doomed nation of ours.

Throughout all this turbulence and rebellion in society, the church has quit influencing the world and compromised with the world by letting the world influence the church. The church lost its power and influence upon society as it conformed herself to the world and sold out to a pagan society as well. The church began to preach a perverted gospel.

We live in a day of an apostate church inside a godless nation. The nation's a large butcher shop. The nation butchers babies and the churches butchers souls.

This nation races its way to a cliff of destruction and hell as the churches hide and look the other way. The sad reality is when America kissed God goodbye, God kissed America goodbye and left us to our own devices. Heaven help us all.
