Untold millions of the tortured damned cry out in hell at this hour and their shrieks have the combined force of a nuclear explosion. The dreadfulness of damnation of the godless sufferers in hell is best captured by isaiah the prophet who states the sinners in zion are afraid of fearfulness has surprised the hypocrites who among us shall dwell with the devouring fire who among us shall dwell with everlasting burnings the profane and hell are seized with a shaking trembling fearfulness they are continually filled with dread in their realization they are forever trapped in a prison that smokes and quakes like a great furnace they are afraid our text says they are surprised to be chained up in that region of darkness while on earth they either did not believe in a literal hell or they never dreamed they would be sent there against their will sin was a pet they fondled and cherished as they were joined to their idols of pleasure and self-gratification and while on earth in their human flesh they satiated their lusts as they had no fear of any recourse from an eternal god because sentence against an evil work is not executed speedily therefore the hearts of the sons of men is fully set in them to do evil so declares the word of god the dreadfulness of damnation did not appear before them in their natural state and for that very reason they maintained no fear of god in their hearts rather they love darkness more than light and their hearts were as black as the hinges on the doorposts of hell carelessly the sinner lives unaware of his great danger of any time dropping at any moment into a region of smoking perdition his feet stand upon thin ice above a great reservoir of ruin and torments and his deeds are evil the very thoughts of his imagination full of wickedness as he is driven on consumed by his lusts both living in a state of spiritual blindness madly rushing into darkness while on a perilous path indulging his sinful ways and falling into more and more grievous sins thus sealing his fate as seen in jeremiah wherefore their way shall be unto them as slippery ways in the darkness they should be driven on and fall therein for i will bring evil upon them even the year of their visitation sayeth the lord the tortured cries of the damned in hell continually ring in the ears of the godless sufferers who are trapped in a bottomless pit full of smoke rising as a furnace their echoing cries and shrieks pierce the darkness of that dreadful region of burning that is filled night and day with weeping and gnashing of teeth that the heat of hell is unbearable the laments of the damned continual as hell fills every hour with more and more inhabitants who never ever get used to the horror god's wrath is poured out upon them like an overflowing volcano of red hot lava and brimstone the fires roll over the twisted damned in hell like a barbecued hog turns over a spit while on earth they lived in pleasure of sin and live for themselves all the while provoking a holy god who hates sin and who must punish sin for god declares to me belongeth vengeance and recompense their foot shall slide in due time for the day their calamity is at hand and the things that shall come upon them make haste while they were sinning their cup of iniquity was filling filling to the brim in their sensuality perversion and rebellion never did they ever have a sense of their sinful guilty undone state nor of the wrath of god against them and the consequences of their sins being the cause of them being bound hand and foot and mightily brought down into a region of smoke and darkness of which they could never escape like a careless beast they live for the day unaware of the trap laid before them for man also knoweth not his time as the fishes that are taken in an evil net and as the birds that are caught in the snare so are the sons of men snared in an evil time when it falls suddenly upon them while on earth they lived in pleasure beneath the warm sun as they abused the grace god gave them in their conscience to distinguish good and evil they failed to heed the warnings and wooings of almighty god who as a judge must deal severely with the guilty because the sentencing of the law must be carried out upon all guilty sinners god declares the soul that sinneth it shall die and as justice declares and by no means clearing the guilty but they were cold toward the mercy of god and indifferent to the dying love of christ now in hell they are convinced of their sinful guilty and ruined state but no remorse can save them now and all their wailing and weeping and crying and shrieking only adds to their suffering as they realize the dreadfulness of damnation of godless sufferers in hell
