In Genesis, chapter 2, verse 8, we read, And the Lord upplanted a garden eastward in Eden, and there he put the man whom he had formed. Throughout the whole of Scripture, the divine husbandman is planting, pruning, and using the fruit of his vineyard for his purpose and for his glory in the advancement of his kingdom upon the earth and for eternity. In Genesis is the record of man's fall into sin, and because of Adam's disobedience, all men are made sinners.
Man enters this world with a poison in his blood and flows out of a rune nature and bent toward sin. Ever since man stepped foot on this earth, he has had an inclination of going to the devil. Man is hopelessly lost and hellbound and in the need of a Savior, in the person of Christ Jesus.
Today, the world stands on the brink of destruction as a godless society spins out of control into moral chaos. The church of God, in our hour, is unfit for the work that God has put before it. Most of its ministers have become ordinary, good and biblical, but ordinary nonetheless.
Their fire is long gone. Their fearlessness has faded. Where, oh where, are the prophets in our day who don't fear men but who only fear a thrice holy God? The consequences of a man not being on fire for God is a routine ministry with routine sermons and routine organization.
The danger of being routine and ordinary at a time when heroism is needed in the heat of the battle, when the devil's artillery is fierce and bold against the very bastions of Christianity. Yet, God in his word declares, I, the Lord, build the rune places and plant that which was desolate. Oh, how we need the refreshing breath of the spirit of God upon us in revival in this tragic hour where our streets run red by bloodshed and the church has lost her voice of authority because of compromise and conformity to and with the world.
Let me ask you, friend, when was the last time you spent the night out of bed in prayer crying on your face to an extraordinary God over an ordinary church that merely exists in a sin-loving land that's going to the devil more and more every day?
