In the book of Hebrews, in chapter 7 and in verse 25, we read, Wherefore he is able to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them. Who is our text speaking of? In the preceding verse, in verse 22, we find out, friends, by so much was Jesus made a surety of a better testament. Jesus is the central figure of Hebrews 7.25. He is able to save.

Christ willingly submitted to Calvary, being nailed on that ignoble instrument of death. He was crucified, died, and was buried. He rose again and ascended back into the same heaven.

He left to come down here so we can go up there. He sits now, friends, at the right hand of the Father. And he earned that right by way of a bloody cross.

And he states a truth in John's gospel that rings down through the ages and supports our text in Hebrews. For in John 14.6, Jesus says, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No man cometh unto the Father but by me.

Our text in Hebrews verifies this when it says, them that come unto God by him. He is the only way. He is the door that one must go through to gain entry into heaven.

It's a straight gate. It's a narrow passage. Jesus is the bread of life.

He said, I am the bread of life. He that cometh to me shall never hunger, and he that believeth on me shall never thirst. There is only one way into eternal life, friend.

World religions won't get you in there. Buddha can't help you. Confucius can't help you.

Muhammad can't help you. The Book of Mormon can't help you. Your Jewish rabbi can't help you.

Your Catholic priest can't help you either. Neither can your church membership in a Baptist church. There is only one way, only one person.

In the person of Jesus Christ, he states very plainly, no man, no woman, no pastor, no deacon, no Sunday school worker or choir member can come to God the Father but by the blood of his dear son, which was shed on a place called Calvary on a bloody cross for sin. And if you want to make it into God's holy heaven, then you must get to a bloodstained Christ for sin. But if you get to him, friend, you can rest assured that he is able to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him.

He can save to the uttermost of heaven's bliss and save from the uttermost of hell's horrors. Jesus is able to save in all times, even desperate times like these where the church is often more of a hindrance to salvation rather than a means of pointing you to the Christ for salvation. He is able to save in all times, in all places.

He can save you on a barstool. He can save you in a jail cell. He can save you in a bad marriage.

He can save you in an addiction. He can save you in the morning. He can save you in the afternoon.

He can save you in the dead of night for he can save at all times, in all times. He cannot only save in all times and in all places. He is able to save in all cases.

You can be the biggest sinner in your town tonight and he can save you to the uttermost and keep you out of the devil's hell. Jesus can save the worst case in your community tonight. He can save a drug addict.

He can save a drunk. He can save a prostitute. He can save a pastor.

He can save a seminary professor. He can save a deacon and even an elder. He can save someone as mean as a snake and as hurtful as a bear.

He can save a man or a woman who lives like a pig in a pigsty sin. He can save even you in the condition you are in and he can save them all to the uttermost that come unto God by him. That word uttermost in the Greek means he can save you entirely lock, stock and barrel.

That means there isn't a sinner this side of hell that can't be saved by him if he comes unto God by him for he will in no wise cast out any who come to him in sincerity of heart, in repentance, trusting him and believing on him, confessing their sins and owning him as their Lord and Savior. He is able to save in all times, in all places, and in all cases, and in all circumstances. No matter how bad your circumstance is, he can save you in it.

No matter how hopeless things look in your life, friend, he can save you in your hopelessness. He can wash your sins in his blood and give you eternal life, but you must come to him and believe on him. You can stand on the word of God and rest assured that he is able to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him.

Let us pray.
