This recent news article about a serious warning from one of our nation's senators as he warns of the potential of another attack on American soil, this time where terrorists are rapidly developing a method of blowing up a major U.S. city. Listen friends, America is a nation who has turned her back on God. She is thoroughly corrupt from the head to the foot.

In the book of Jeremiah, we have a picture of a corrupt nation facing the judgment of the Almighty as seen in chapter 5 and verses 6-9 which state, Wherefore, a lion out of the forest shall slay them, and a wolf of the evenings shall swallow them. A leopard shall watch over their cities. Every one that goeth out thence shall be torn in pieces, because their transgressions are many and their backslidings are increased.

How shall I pardon thee for this, that children have forsaken me, and sworn by them that are no gods, when I have fed them to the foal? Then they committed adultery, and assembled themselves by troops in the harlot's houses. They were as fed horses in the morning, every one named after his neighbor's wife. Shall I not visit for these things, saith the Lord, and shall not my soul be avenged on such a nation as this? God is not going to sit idly by while an entire nation mocks him and boldly sins against him, a nation that calls evil good and good evil, for God will bring a great judgment against that nation that sets herself against him and his holy word.

I want to read you Matthew Henry's commentary on our last verse from Jeremiah, friends, for it aptly describes America's great danger to-day. A foreign enemy shall break in, and their country shall be as if it were overrun and perfectly mastered by a lion of the forest, a wolf of the evening, a leopard which is very swift and cruel. All this bloody work is owing to the multitude of their transgressions.

It would not be for the glory of God to let a nation pass without some manifest tokens of his displeasure.
