E.A. Johnston emphasizes that national healing and restoration come only when God's people humble themselves, repent, and seek His face as declared in Scripture.
In this prophetic sermon, E.A. Johnston calls attention to the moral and spiritual chaos facing the nation due to the rejection of God's word. Drawing on historical warnings and biblical mandates, he urges believers to humble themselves, pray, and repent as the pathway to national healing. Johnston highlights the critical role of obedience to God's commands in restoring order and righteousness in society.

When a nation is divided, then that nation is in deep distress. When a people reject the Bible and turn their backs on the God of the Bible, then that society will spin out of control into moral chaos. There will be anarchy and riots in the streets.
The words of Daniel Webster, written in 1823, ring true today. If religious books are not widely circulated among the masses in this country, I do not know what is going to become of us as a nation. If truth be not diffused, error will be.
If God and his word are not known and received, the devil and his works will gain ascendancy. If the evangelical volume does not reach every hamlet, the pages of a corrupt and licentious literature will. If the power of the gospel is not felt throughout the length and breadth of the land, anarchy and misrule, degradation and misery, corruption and darkness will reign without mitigation or end.
I believe the words of Daniel Webster had prophetic undertones for what he has warned about 200 years ago has come to fruition in reality in our country. Our land lies in chaos and anarchy is in the air and there is a vacuum of leadership both in government and in the church. Often the most qualified and best men are hid in obscurity while lesser men are put in charge.
Only when the people of God do what is necessary and obey what God has declared, will God then do what he has declared. In 2 Chronicles 7.14 we read, If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land.
