The psalmist declares, I had fainted unless I had believed to see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living. I've felt at times, especially of late, that I'm in a dense jungle with only a dull machete, trying in vain to chop my way out to a clearing. All the while, one foot is stuck in quicksand and the other lame, while a tribe of angry cannibals, chasing hot pursuit, shooting poison darts beneath a boiling hot tropical sun.
I never would have survived, except for my one and true faithful friend, Jesus of Nazareth.
