We should be much to blame if we fail to make improvements in the days in which we live, as to the dryness in religion and flagrant activity of Satan, who, transforming himself as an angel of light, has deceived many and corrupted the modern church with spurious conversions and an imitation gospel. The church today is cold, dead, and insensitive to one another within the body of Christ, let alone feel any compassion towards a lost and perishing world. We have not revival because we have not the God of revival.
We bow down to our idols of our own making, as we as a church in the western world are entirely unfit to serve God in our generation. We lost our passion for Christ by replacing him with a passion for mere theology. But what good are the correct doctrines if we lack the power and presence of Almighty God? We only make a mockery of religion while the world mocks us for our lack of authority and power.
But to have a real concern for the glory of God and an interest in the Lord Christ, we must forsake our worldly methodologies of the business of running a corporate church and return to the very roots of New Testament Christianity. The main reason why we cannot move mountains of resistance and expose Satan's lurking places in our sin-sick society today is that we ourselves are sick with an anemic brand of Christianity that lost its vitality years ago when we conformed to the world and compromised the gospel of the Son of God. Instead of possessing a voice of authority and exercising influence upon a nation who lacks a moral compass, the church has fallen to low levels of mere apathy and indifference, self-reliance and self-preservation.
There is no defined line between right and wrong in society today because the lines of the church have become blurred themselves. The absence of God in our midst has produced a generation of young ministers today who are clever and smart and well-read, but who try to make progress in a battle too overwhelming for us because we fight with a dull blade. Until the church falls to her knees in heartfelt brokenness and humility and repentance before an offended, dread sovereign and confesses her sins of indifference and apathy towards a lost and perishing world and a sin-loving society, we will continue to have two voids exist in the land.
We will have the void of revival and the void of the presence and power of Almighty God. Until we return to the living God of the Bible and confess our lack and turn from our wicked ways, we will fall under the indictment of the words of the prophet Amos that he spoke to a rebellious people. Can two walk together except they be agreed?
