In 2 Peter chapter 2, we find the startling account of God's judgments as they fell swiftly in unsparing justice. For if God spared not the angels that sinned, but cast them down to hell, and delivered them onto chains of darkness to be reserved unto judgment, and spared not the old world, but saved Noah the eighth person, a preacher of righteousness, bringing in the flood upon the world of the ungodly, and turning the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah into ashes, condemned them with an overthrow, making them an example unto those that after should live ungodly. I will stop there, friends.

The title of my message this evening is When God's Judgment Falls. When God's judgment falls, it can fall on a nation, or on a community. It can fall on a denomination, or a church, or it can fall on an individual.

But when God's judgment falls, all hell breaks loose, because God has removed himself, and pulled away his restraining power, and has given the devil full reign to work. I've seen God's judgment fall on churches where they once did great things for God. Now they're just a devil's circus, or a coronal playground.

I've God's judgment fall upon a large denomination, to where it has fallen into apostasy, and is completely unaware of it. I've seen God's judgment fall upon a community that once had the life and light of the gospel, but now all is evil and darkness. I've seen God's judgment fall on a ministry that once had the light of the gospel and the smile of heaven, but now it's all death and darkness and judgment.

This can happen to individuals as well. In Acts chapter 5, we read, But Peter said, Ananias, why hath Satan filled thine heart to lie to the Holy Ghost? Then in verse 5, we read, And Ananias, hearing these words, fell down, and gave up the ghost. Then along comes his wife, Sapphira, and God's judgment falls on her as well.

I've known individuals where God's judgment fell, wherein their rebellion, they were first given over to Satan, and then removed by sudden death. When God's judgment falls, it comes crashing down quickly. I look around today at society, and I see judgment in the land.

I look around at our so-called Christian churches, and see a veil of judgment hanging over them. If people sitting in some churches this Sunday knew that they sat atop a trap door to hell, they'd scream out in terror and repent immediately. Heaven help this sin-loving society in this God-hating nation at a tragic time when the church has no voice of authority or witness to a perishing world.
