When I was a little boy in the 1950s, we kids began our day in public school by facing the American flag and with our hands over our hearts we said in unison, I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the republic on which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all. Through these many decades, I've watched this once great republic crumble into moral chaos. I've watched her cities become dens of drugs, drunkenness and vice.

Her streets given over to parades for sodomites and her public schools become shooting grounds of senseless killings. I've watched grown men who were supposed to be role models to our children refuse to stand for the national anthem even though they've become millionaires because of the opportunities in this country. I've seen this once great republic that once feared God and was once one nation under God turn her back on God and become a God-hating nation that has legalized perversion and legislated God right out of our judicial and educational systems.

We don't fear God in this country anymore because we don't want to have anything to do with him. We have decided to do away with him and his laws. The church used to be a moral compass to society that the nation once looked up to for guidance and direction.

And where is the church today in the midst of this moral chaos? She is silent while she builds bigger campuses to entertain herself with music and laughter. The city that was to be on a hill shining brightly has allowed the light of the gospel to go out in the land. Millions perish into a crisis eternity while a self-absorbed church looks the other way.

Will this republic stand? Yes it will as it stands one day before a holy God in her abject poverty of soul. Let us pray.
