We must prioritize time with God and seek real communion with Him, lest we become 'religious robots' and produce nothing good.
This sermon emphasizes the importance of seeking solitude and communion with God, especially in the evening when weariness and stress can overwhelm us. It highlights the example of Jesus withdrawing to pray alone after ministering to others, reminding us not to become religious robots but to have a genuine heart longing to glorify Jesus.

What a response! My dear friends, you and I too can hide ourselves from these evident facts. We can hide ourselves, but the voice of God will still pursue you. Adam, where art thou? Eve, what is this? What is this which thou hast done? The voice of God will still pursue you.
So, my dear friends, evening is the time when so many slack off, they are weary. They feel they are entitled to that stint of moral rejuvenation. You know, before the television, moral rejuvenation.
Is that what you get out of the television? And what did our Lord do? Matthew 14 and verse 23 says, After feeding these five thousand, my, after sending them away, after dealing with all their sorrows and needs, what did our master do? And when he had sent the multitudes away, he went up into a mountain apart to pray. And when the evening was come, he was there alone. You know, my dear friends, physically, emotionally, stress wise, you can say you're washed out by the evening.
Your boss has been so demanding. And you had a bad day in the office. And you're pretty much washed out.
But what did our master do? After the intense labor of dealing with five thousand men beside women and children. He went up into a mountain apart to pray. And when the evening was come, he was there alone.
Recharging, getting renewed in this father's presence. My dear friends, we dare not be spent forces. I sometimes begin to wonder with all the itinerations that I have to make across the continents.
I wonder, am I becoming an automaton, a preaching machine, or is there a heart which is pulsating with a longing to glorify Jesus? I dare not just become an automaton, a robot. You know, folks, these are all grave dangers which confront us today. Religious robots fill the place with robots who have no real communion with God.
What good will come out of them? Nothing. Nothing good will come out. But here is our master.
And when the evening was come, he was there alone. Alone. You know, you, I find a modern phenomenon these days.
Convention phenomenon. Convention phenomenon means a lot of food loaded with calories. You know, which will put people to just normally, that sort of food will put anybody to sleep.
And you might have the best location, a beautiful garden where people can sit alone and pray. But you won't see anybody doing it. They sit around sipping coffee and chatting their heads off.
That's all they do. And they call it a fine convention. And all that they wanted was human company and congenial friendships.
They asked nothing more. All the promises in this book were invalid. They were not in force.
They were not to be taken up. Now, suppose you were invited to a table here on which you would see banker's checks, some in six figures, some in eight figures, some in nine figures, some in just one or two figures, $10, $20 stuff. And you were said, you were told, take your pick.
Take your pick. I wonder what you would go away with. You will carefully select the check, which reads $8.05, and tuck it carefully in your inner pocket and go away rejoicing like you found the lost sheep.
What, folks? Would you do that? Oh, you're all smarter than that.
