In Mark 11, 24, we read, Whatsoever things ye desire, when ye pray, Believe that ye receive them. Whatsoever things ye desire, when ye pray, Believe that ye receive them, And ye shall have them. Now that's God promising man in his frailty.
And God cannot turn away from the promises. He cannot deny himself. He said, it's an amazing thing what God does, promising such things.
Whatsoever things ye desire, when ye pray, Believe that ye receive them, And ye shall have them. God promised. John 14, 13, Whatsoever ye shall ask, whatsoever ye shall ask, In my name, in my name, that will I do.
What an incredible promise from God to humans like you and me. You see, faith comes by the word of God. Otherwise, what do we pray for? What hope have we outside of these promises? From a holy God who cannot deny himself.
Of course, there's conditions. There's conditions attached to every single promise in this book. Radical conditions.
One of the sermons, they have an internet of mine. Go to that to hear those conditions. But tonight, let's just look at the promises.
Whatsoever things ye shall ask in my name, that will I do. If ye shall ask anything in my name, that will I do. Staggering.
If ye shall ask anything in my name, that is the will of my Father, it shall be given unto you. Wonderful. And then lastly, a passage I've come to love and have cried from pulpit upon pulpit to a few hundred thousand people over the fifty years I've preached.
Almost every day of my life in fifty years. It's found in 1 Timothy, chapter 2. I exhort therefore that first of all supplications, prayers, intercessions, giving of thanks be made for all men. You want a staggering study? It'll stagger you and it'll stagger the devil that you're doing it.
Just take the words all men. Go through the Bible. In case you doubt God doesn't want all men.
I exhort therefore that first of all supplications, prayers, intercessions be made for all men. Verse 3, for this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour who will have all men to be saved. Who will have all men to be saved.
And to come unto the knowledge of the truth, staggering. Who gave himself a ransom for all. You're going to look a little better at that tomorrow by the grace of God.
Who will have all men to be saved. To pray earnestly. Supplications, prayers, intercessions for all men.
Contextually, not for you to live in peace in the land but to pray primarily for those leaders in the land beginning with your president down, their salvation. Every single one that we may have godly men. Don't just throw out a verse for peace just to save our skin, to make things comfortable.
No, pray for their souls contextually who will have all men to be saved. This is the will of God when you pray for all men to be saved because God says it's his will. That to me is vital for you even when you pray to be convinced of how on earth can you pray intelligently with compassion outside of that.
I heard a staggering statement. I heard a staggering statement when I was a young preacher that radically affected me for the rest of my life from that moment to this moment. If you are saved, someone prayed for you.
Don't doubt that Keith boy. If you are saved, someone prayed earnestly and compassionately for you. That did stagger me.
Is there anything Satan fears more than a soul winner on his knees? If he's not a soul winner on his knees mostly, he's not a soul winner at all because that's where you find the compassion to be driven to souls that you're praying for, to live the life in front of them that you're praying for that could reach them. Take that away. You're just a sham and an actor.
Just do it in the right times for the right eyes to get the praise of men. You are driven from your knees, sir. Is there anything Satan fears more than a soul winner on his knees because then he's really a soul winner and effective, greatly effective.
When I was a teenager with my father and mother and brother, our home sadly experienced tragedy more than most homes, sorrows and continued shame more than most homes, trust me. I won't go into any of the details. Then God stepped in mercifully and miraculously.
He stepped in in such a way that my entire family was unable to resist the love of God, the voice of God, compassion of God. It singles out. We knew it was God.
We had no doubt, each one of us. We were mightily saved as a family, gloriously saved. A little time went on and there was a knock at the door of our home.
We all stood at the door that morning and our neighbors, three houses away from us, we didn't know. We had seen them. We knew they were our neighbors.
We would wave to them in the buses when we wanted to avoid the riding of the traffic. We went to town or the city with buses and we would see them and greet them. That's about all we knew of them.
There they stood, the husband and wife, and they said these words to us. We have heard that you have been saved by God's grace, the whole family. And he was tearful, the man.
He said, we wanted to come here to tell you that we have been praying for seven years, every single day, crying out in desperation, earnestly for God to step in and save. You see, most of our neighbors knew of much of the same. Much of the horror and the things that came upon us, and these neighbors became aware of it.
We have prayed every single day for seven years, Mr. Daniel, for God to save you every day. Every single Wednesday in our church, the Baptist church, we have brought you as a family before the whole church to pray. For seven years, crying to God to save you, crying out to God as a church.
We have cried out with our church every single Wednesday for God to reach out in compassion. We are not presumptuous. I don't believe we're being presumptuous and being joyful in believing that something of our prayers had to do with you coming to God like this in such a way.
That meant so much to my father. He just stood there sobbing. If you are saved, Keith, don't doubt this boy.
Someone prayed earnestly and compassionately for you. That has affected my life to this day, and my prayer life, and my faith. I was preaching in a Methodist church.
The preacher's name was Stephen Fossey, back in Africa. Now, he married Andrew Murray, the great Andrew Murray, the great grandchild, Elsa. I worked with her brother, young Andrew Murray.
We lived out of suitcases, just going from town to town. In those days, I don't know why, I think there was no television allowed in South Africa. It was corruption, so the government, deeply religious.
Anyway, every church was full to capacity. I can't think of one where it wasn't just overflowing, and souls everywhere just seeking God. Oh, we had a glorious time together.
Young Andrew Murray. Now, I didn't work with the old Andrew Murray. I'm not that old.
But anyway, her brother, that's Stephen, she now married Elsa, Andrew's sister. Now, he's a very godly man, and as he moved around in the different Methodist churches as they sent them and called them, I was able to go on invitation and preach for a series of meetings in one place after the other over the years. One of the towns, I made the statement that it so amazingly affected me and been proven by God.
If you're saved, someone prayed for you, boy, earnestly and compassionately. Don't doubt it. And I gave certain illustrations.
Stephen walked from the church back to his home, looked at his family and said, Keith said this in the message this morning. If you're saved, don't doubt it, someone prayed for you, earnestly. But no one prayed for me.
I've been saved years and years. No one has ever walked up to me and said, I prayed for you. They would have by now.
No one, not one person ever prayed for me. His mother-in-law, frail, full of arthritis, crippled with it, but gentle, one of the most lovely people I've ever met, Mrs. Murray. She stood up and walked across the room and said gently, Oh, you're wrong, Stephen.
Someone did pray for you every single day, groaning before God for you day after day, year after year. Who? Me, Stephen. You see, when my daughter was born, that day I began to pray.
I don't know how God the Holy Ghost did this in my heart, but he put it in my heart, Stephen. I began to groan every day through the years and years from the day of birth for the man that would one day marry her. You see, Stephen, I have found over the years, home upon home of the godliest parents who go on their faces sobbing because their daughter or son married the wrong person.
It was not God's will. And I realized that all we do, all the effort, everything we do to raise her up in a godly way could be destroyed by the man she marries one day. If it's not God's will, if he's not godly, the man that would one day capture my daughter's heart.
I didn't know your name, Stephen, but I knew God knew. God is uncomprehendable. There's no way explaining.
But God is great enough and big enough beyond our comprehension to know all things beginning from... That doesn't make him guilty of anything man does or the will that any man does. He rept over man's disobedience. Stephen, I prayed because I feared from the day of her birth that if this girl one day marries a man that is not godly, I cried to God that whoever it is, God, daily, daily, right until your marriage, that God would take hold of you through life and protect you from wickedness that would be so in your heart, that God would reach out and save you and save you through and through and make you so honest and real and transparent.
I cried to God for you daily. Stephen, since you're married, I've prayed and I will pray to the day I die for you to stay godly. I've seen so many homes destroyed by the wrong choice.
No, you have godly parents. I've seen their happiness destroyed and their child destroyed. Someone prayed for you earnestly and compassionately, boy, and will continue to the day I die because you have my daughter.
Stephen, many years ago, a very loved preacher across much of Africa, he phoned me and said, Brother Keith, forgive me for contacting you like this, but our home is experiencing much sorrow right now. You see, our son has walked away from us as a family and told us he never wants to see us again, but in a way that we know he means it. He has told us he's going to serve Satan.
He's going to serve the devil with both hands. Unashamedly, he's sick of religion. From a child forced to sit in meeting upon meeting, conference after conference.
From a child forced, he kept quiet, he said. But now he makes his choice. He's reached that age and he wants out.
And he's told us in no uncertain way he's going to serve Satan. He's lived for the day, he can just walk away. And he doesn't want to ever see us again till he dies, that he hates us.
And he means it. We are so shaken as a family. He's gone, he's left the house.
Time is going on and we're just weeping as a family. And then we were talking about you. There's once in his life, only once that we can remember, he actually said something positive about a sermon he heard.
And that was when you preached. And he was very young when he heard you. He's never ever responded with any positiveness about anything he's heard, apart from that one sermon.
And he said, forgive me, but I'm hoping, we as a family are hoping that if you go and visit him, you might be able to change his mind. Will you please go and visit the boy? Well, I wasn't able to go to his house, there was no address, but we knew where he was working. So I went to the city, eventually.
And they led me through this building and the offices, down all these office blocks, you know, all the partitioned glass windows, etc., down to where his office was. And he saw through the glass coming down people leading me. And he got up before I even got in that little office of his, with other people in there.
He was running out and he began screaming and cursing in a way that staggered everybody. That whole place just came to a standstill. He began cursing and screaming uncontrollably and throwing himself at me in a way that I, and everybody wanted to hold him back.
He just lost total control with the most horrible cursing. And there were people, even women, began to cry. They just burst into tears.
They didn't know anything about this part of this boy who just lost total control when he saw me. And he shouted, Get out! Get out! Get out! He came to me, cursing. You tell my father that if he sends anyone here, including you, ever again in my life, I will beat you with terrible language.
I'll beat you. Get out! And he began to throw himself at me. In such a way I began to fall.
And he stood back feeling a bit taken aback when I did. So I stood there and looked at people. The whole place had come to a standstill.
People were out in the passageway just coming, looking stunned at what was going on because of the screaming. And I said, Listen carefully to me now. Just listen carefully.
You may be able to stop me from speaking to you about God, but you cannot stop me from speaking to God about you. And I want you to remember this every day of my life till I die. I will be crying to God from this day to make you miserable in your sin, to make you fear for your life in sinful places and with sinners, to make you unable to enjoy sin or sinner's company or places of the devil where the devil feeds his people at his tables with the things Satan does to satisfy them.
Wherever you are and go to any place of the devils, any house of the devils feeding from his tables the sin, he feeds his people that you will hate it and you will flee for your life. And you will never know once that you don't fear for your life. You will never enjoy sin again till the day you die, until the day you come to Christ.
You will know nothing but fear. And you can't stop me from praying that. Don't forget now.
I went, I don't know how long it was, a few years I suppose. Not sure. I was at some convention place and washing my face in the ablution block.
And in the mirror, you know, I saw someone standing behind me, a few years later. So I turned and there this boy stood, fearful, little smile, actually his little lips were just quivering, looking at me. He says, you remember me? Oh yes, I remember you.
He says, well, I heard you were going to be at this convention and I didn't want anybody to phone you. So I didn't want to phone you. I said, no, I want to go and look at him in the face and to tell you to stop praying.
I'm saved. And then he said these staggering words. Sir, when you said those words to me that day, I started trembling right there in fear of what you said.
That night, I ran, fearing for my life from an evil place. I ran, fearing. I ran, fearing.
I had to run in fear. And there has never been one occasion, not one single day, not one night that I haven't feared for my life or otherwise hated what was happening and run in fear. I couldn't enjoy anything.
I just ran and I'd sit in my little apartment and say, is that Keith Daniel praying for me? I was angry with you. But thank you. I eventually gave my life to Christ and I'm back home with Daddy, Mommy.
He became a missionary to South America to this day. If you're saved, Keith, someone prayed for you earnestly and compassionately. Don't doubt it, boy.
Don't doubt it now. I was preaching here in America many years ago now in a large city in one of your states. I won't tell you the name of the city or the state.
But it was the largest church or assembly in the entire city. It was well known. Across much of the city would know about this because this man was revered.
The preacher was anointed by God in an unusual way. And I heard about him before I ever went to that city. How God has raised up this man in the most incredible anointing upon his expository preaching.
In a very unique way, God was honoring him. Nonetheless, I was asked to go and preach there. Six pastors met me at the airport.
And I was so blessed to stand there and just look as far as my eyes because these are people thronging in this massive auditorium. And, of course, they let me come again and again. To honor me, they did something like Don and Vicki.
It wasn't Cracker Barrel. I tell you, that Cracker Barrel. Do you know the catfish? We'd better not start, okay? I only found out about the catfish the other night.
It's the best thing on the menu. Spicy catfish. Okay, if Jenny's here, I would be in deep trouble now.
Diverting. When you're tired, you divert. Anyway, there you are.
So now we would be taken to a restaurant during whatever series I had with these six preachers, their wives and the pastor himself and his wife. Italian restaurant. It wasn't just an Italian restaurant.
It was probably one of the best restaurants in the world. You can't believe the sandeliers and the whole setting. I tell you seldom I've ever known anything like it.
And they even have an opera singer. With violins, these guys, the whole orchestra following her around the tables, you know. And she was enormous, this woman.
In long white dress, you know, and something on her head with horns and blood red, you know, whoa. She really was an opera. There's something about the impact.
I think that's why they have to be that size. I'm not too sure. But boy, there was an impact.
And this voice, you know, the sandeliers anywhere in the world probably, that sort of, you know, it was unnerving because she stood there looking at me for quite a while serenading me. Well, anyway, you kind of recover, you know, and try and eat after a while and hope she doesn't come back. Anyway, that's what they did to sort of honor the preaching, okay.
Nonetheless, I go there another year and there's just one pastor actually, a very godly man. Don met him also. But he was very gravity and he said the preacher, the main preacher who God so honored to fill that place out as no other church, he's left the pulpit.
And he refuses to preach again. And the whole church is staggering. It's staggering and we're worried, concerned as the place is emptying out.
You see, his two eldest sons have turned to wickedness. And so wicked that it hit the front page of the city's main newspaper because it's the biggest, the largest congregation and their wickedness and because of the name, you see, the newspapers like to do anything when there's something to report evil against the church. Then they really have a field day.
It's almost like Satan is probably sitting in the editor's office. I wouldn't be surprised at what they do when they get hold of anything negative against God, most of them worldwide. Nonetheless, it hit the papers.
And he said, I can't preach again. We've pledged with him, people have pledged with him, but he says, there's verses in the Bible, particularly the verse that says if you can't control your children, you lose the right to preach. It cancels out your right, even if you are anointed and godly.
And so he says, with these scriptures, he just cannot ever stand in that pulpit again with a clear conscience. He's defying God. So he's gone back to secular work where many, many, many years ago as a young man, he left.
He went back to the only work he could find. He's in overalls. He takes a little lunchbox.
After all these years of preaching, being used wonderfully by God, he's going now daily for his nine hours a day back to the factory where he's found some form of income. We doubt very much that he will even come to the meetings, Keith. I said, listen, I've got to speak to him because he's wrong.
No matter who interprets those verses to mean that, I want to speak to him. I doubt we can do that. I said, listen, you organize something, tell them we go to that Italian restaurant, you know.
Anyway, they did. Somehow he got a little bit of extended time, came in his overalls, got a suit and a tie, and there were all the pastors and their wives and him and his wife. I said, listen, you have many children, not just two.
They all follow God in a very wonderful way. They love God. Because two of your children, through the free will, read Proverbs in case you don't believe, godly people have to suffer the same, the heaviness of his mother, always contextually godly.
It isn't the sin of the father or the mother. Take your pen and mark through the whole Old Testament. The same, the godly, the godliest of the godly had to face with one, if not others, that God says.
But he doesn't say, oh yes, two occasions he actually mentions with Eli that it's because he didn't discipline him and Samuel did the same. And contextually, if you fail to discipline your son, or you send him to hell and things like that, yes, but that is nothing to do with when your other children, you serve God and everyone knows and you know. You don't walk away from the ministry like that, that is all the years and years building up.
The devil told you that. The man looked at me and he said, Keith, I so appreciate your compassion and love and what you're saying, but I can never stand in the pulpit again with those scriptures that I have to face. My conscience won't allow me unless my children come to God.
I would do anything for those boys to repent, but they're out there serving Satan. They're in wickedness, unashamedly, no matter what, even if I left the pulpit. I have forfeited the right.
I have no right to preach again with such children. You know you can do that to your daddy and mommy. You know how many of the godliest homes I've ever been in my life that I still could never even stand in their shadow, they're so godly.
Just one child makes that whole home that deserves to be full of joy. All they have is black rings under their eyes of weeping and sorrow and shame. The testimony is destroyed, not to the ungodliness of those parents.
You can destroy one of the greatest preachers in the world if you want to, just one of you. If you choose Satan with a free will that God gives you even if you're raised by godly people. You can make them crawl into the grave.
Your children can give more joy to you than anything else that God can give you. And they can give more grief and shame and sorrow and suffering if they're not godly. Your children.
You can make you crawl into the grave though you deserved happiness by the pursuit you had of God. I've seen it over and over again. Nonetheless, I pledged with this man, I'll do anything, Keith.
Are you sure? What do you mean? Would you do anything, be willing for anything for those boys to be saved? Yes. Then I know what to do if you mean that. What do you mean? I want to pray a prayer, but I want only those sitting here at this table who can truly say from their heart amen to this prayer.
Otherwise, please don't say it. Can we pray, please? I say, God, thou art able to do anything. There's nothing impossible with God.
All things are possible to God. With God, there's nothing shall be impossible. Nothing.
God, thou who didst say in one word when the universe was created, thou didst know that man doesn't know, but thou didst know what to do to make those boys come to a standstill and seek thee desperately to be saved. To hate their sin and to turn in a way they'll never turn away from. Now, Lord, do anything because I know thy harshest blow is perfect love.
And thou will only resort to that if that is all that will happen and work. You don't pray for a wicked son's comfort, for his prosperity, in his work, in his situation financially, for his health. No, you don't.
While he goes to hell. Lord, do anything. It doesn't matter what it costs.
No matter what it takes. Do it, Lord, to make them seek thee swiftly and soon in a way they'll never repent of and never turn back. In Jesus Christ's name, with unswerving faith, we ask this of thee.
No one said, Amen. I just looked at them all. After a minute, I think, his wife stood up tearfully and said, Amen.
Amen. I left. I came back a year later.
The six ministers weren't there at the airport to meet me, but he was, the main preacher. And he said to me, Brother, do you remember in the restaurant what you prayed? Do you remember my wife was the only one that said, Amen? Brother, I think he said, a month, five weeks later, there was no symptoms, but they found she was riddled with cancer. And they gave her a few weeks to live at the most.
There was no symptoms. She was shaken. I was shaken.
Everyone, the doctors were shaken. Seldom anything like this has ever seen. It's just spreading.
Nothing. There's nothing we can do. And as she lay dying, the family, those two boys came.
Otherwise they wouldn't come near us. And she looked at them gently. Just before she died, with tears coming down her little face, looking at them.
Don't let your mother die without seeing you. Seek God to save you. Don't let me die knowing you're going to hell for eternity and bringing shame on us as a family.
Please don't. Those boys fell down on their knees and in their faces, Keith, and sobbed uncontrollably while their mother lay there. And they were gloriously saved.
They have turned to God in such an unusual way it's staggered me and everybody. They have so found God, Keith. And I'm back in the pulpit because of that.
But look at the cost. To pray such a prayer. Be careful what you pray, but be careful what you don't pray.
You'll suffer more than what that woman did. I guarantee you. If you have to pray that prayer, pray it for God's sake.
For God's sake. Oh. I'll have to leave that one.
George Muller. If you haven't read George Muller's life story, I pity you. You're depriving yourself of one of the greatest joys God could give us.
His prayers were answered in such an incredible way it's staggered in his generation, in his lifetime, across the whole world. He was a household name. George Muller of Bristol.
Don't read the thick book. First get the little one read by teenagers, etc. that has the precise main things.
It'll just wet your appetite for the big book later on. But the way God answered his prayers with the orphanages as they were lying in the gutters in the hundreds and hundreds and hundreds across London and he's picking them up in Bristol. Oh, eventually across much of the world.
The compassion the man showed and the way God answered prayers for them to be housed, fed, miraculous, miracles that are unheard of by anyone before or since to such a degree. You must read that book. George Muller when he died, he didn't die fast.
He had a long death bed. He lay there suffering and suffering and suffering and drawn out so long as he just deteriorated. But when he died they took his Bible and in his Bible were pages and on those pages were just scores and scores and scores of names written in small writing.
Next to many of the names over all the pages they found a tick and a date and many, many, many of the names had no tick or date and they made a research, a number of men and they found that every single name were people that he had been asked from people across much of the world to pray for wicked children, for drugs and drink and jailbirds and really tragic lives. There's one all over. People asking him to pray.
Somehow he got a message and here he's gone. All he did was the one thing he learned above everything else, how to pray, that God rent the heavens. And the man prayed.
Oh you want to pick up these books of praying hide and Reese Howells and the whole world war stopped when he fasted four days. Do you know that? Forty days? That was the turning point of the war. America joined.
Forty days. Read what really made the world change and Hitler not win which he was about to do by the way and heaven help what would have happened afterwards even to you but prayer stopped that. Oh no wonder of it.
You hear the man now they take this, they go to all these names, they found that the tick, the date, that was when that person was saved. They made much research by many people was going on and all the names that had no tick, no date were unsaved, lost and many wicked. The inquiries they made from all over the world.
He died and the things he was praying for this great man of God, most of the names, God did not answer the prayer. Well, a few years went by and two Americans, those days they didn't have the airplanes so they would go via Southampton to get to Africa. There was no Suez Canal.
Now, these two Americans on their way, I think it was to Africa to be missionaries, they stopped there. The British are amazing. They preserved things.
The first king ate 110. His crown, his scepter, his saddle, his spurs, some of his clothes, his sword. You can't believe it's preserved in the white, what do they call it anyway, William the Conqueror boat.
It's still there. And every single king, you find every single thing about that king, physically, it's been preserved and kept like Britain. Well, they preserved even the godly.
You can go to John Knox's home in Edinburgh. There is his Bible, there's his desk, there's his prayer cushion, there's his bed, the same linen. It's amazing.
The British preserve everything. Thank goodness one nation holds on to the past to that degree anyway, but well, you can go to John Wesley's home and find there's his everything. It's the exact bed, the exact bedding, the exact Bible, the exact notes.
You can go as if it's right now that the man was there. One person after the other, if you love the Lord, you'd be stunned what's preserved. You can go to George Mueller's home, and in his home there's that Bible.
There are those lists next to his bed. They're all in the notes of the books he wrote, his sermons, and much of his life. All his own everything, all preserved.
Isn't it wonderful? And so we've seen many of these places. You go there, these two American men, on their way, found themselves next to this deathbed of the great George Mueller. They looked at the Bible, they inquired about all these pages that now were not in the Bible, but next to the Bible.
And some heavy thing. Well, they asked about it, were told, well, all these souls were not. He was praying when he died, and all these were never saved, but those he was praying for, that tick date, that's the date they got saved.
We don't know any that ever backslid. They were truly saved. These Americans said, well, can we have these lists? We'll protect them with our lives, but we need time.
They made inquiries. It took a long, long time during their stay in England before they went further. And they found that every single name was born again.
Every single name. He died praying, and his prayers weren't answered. Listen, Mother, you're dying and your prayers are not answered for your son dying praying in faith to a God that has a holy obligation to his promises.
If you fulfill the conditions, of course, but this man had fulfilled the conditions. Every single person of your drunk father beat you and beat your mother or did other terrible things to you. Pray.
And don't stop praying even as you're dying in faith. Don't dare do that. You're dealing with a holy God.
He's not going to be pointed at that anything failed at this promise, but you have to pray. He waits for that. He acts on that.
Heaven rends on that. I can take you through every level of Christianity of what happens and bring it down to one thing, prayer. Without him, we can do nothing, but he waits.
I sought for a man to stand in the gap that I don't destroy the land. I found none. What did he do? He destroyed the land, but he wanted someone to pray.
You think that's there for historically some record? No. It's there for you and me to be shaken. Andrew Murray, the great Andrew Murray, he prayed every single day for many, many years before his death that every descendant from his blood, his wife and him, would not go to hell but be gloriously saved and that multitudes of them, many of them, would go and serve God full-time capacity.
He prayed and prayed. He died. Well, this is many, many, many years ago.
They have an Andrew Murray descendants annual, not annual, every five years a convention. They hire, it seems, some conference center and over 500 people gathered at the last one, direct descendants, all descendants of Andrew Murray. And they don't have sermons.
I believe they just testified. I've been told this by some of those. Well, they don't know of any that aren't saved that are over the age of 12.
And there they still have no doubt. Do you think God looks at that and says, that's a bit presumptuous? That's a bit too much to us? If you are a man of God, like that man, if you have the heart for God, like that man, who the only true revival in Southern Africa is history. The rest is just money.
Almost genuine. The front page of the New York Times. How can you call that revival? You offer them in their poverty and starvation that they'll prosper if they come to Jesus.
No wonder they come flocking. But the bulk of them just watch. These people, these sensationalists, emotionalists, money makers, claim there's true revival in Africa.
Be careful. Front page of the New York Times years ago. What do you expect them to do in their poverty and starvation but to come to Jesus? But give them a few years and they'll hate religion because of the lie you preached.
And there was an unsaved reporter on the front page of the New York Times, by the way, who had more sense than most of us, to be honest anyway. Well, Andrew Murray's great revivals were there that turned the history of Southern Africa. Two million Zulus were crying out to God through the nights for years on the hills for South Africa who had come to God through Andrew Murray's ministry.
Where do you find such revivals? Well, thank God for him and what he prayed for and what God has honoured concerning his descendants. You think God will turn his face away from that? No! One of the 300 plus million Arabian Muslims, Islam, over 300 million in Arabia alone, all the Arabian countries, all Muslim, 99.99% anyway, which they say there is a small percentage that's actually heard the name of Jesus Christ, let alone say you pray for them? Oh! We didn't much, did we? Until two buildings in the most sophisticated city on earth came down and the whole world was shaken and trembling. This is the warfare we know nothing about.
It doesn't attack where you can go to war. It attacks innocence by putting bombs around children's bodies, women's bodies, and sending them into tortures. It's a warfare to hit the innocent, to hit where it hurts, and you don't know what to do.
You don't know where's next. What happens? Well, the church began to pray across the whole world. The true church began to pray earnestly, what? For Islam! For what they hadn't been earnestly crying to God for.
Do you know since then those buildings coming down and the church on its knees groaning before God because of their own skin? No, because of their safety wanting. More people on full-time service now to reach the Islam countries than any other nation or culture on earth. That comes from the lips of the leaders of most of the missionary societies and denominations in the earth.
They know that now fully supported by their churches throughout Vietnam, throughout these other countries, more full-time supported missionaries. They can't preach to Islam. They go one-on-one, but they support it.
They send out as missionaries than any other culture on earth has been reached. Why? Because the church got down and started praying, that's why. And multitudes of Islam are turning to God, in case you don't know it.
And the church began to pray. Let me end with this. America, you think things are bad.
No one would have believed every single restriction is thrown aside. Who's left that isn't defiled by the media? Just flooding ten years old, little telephones. You don't know what kids are looking at.
What percentage? I saw in the newspaper the other day. It gauged what percentage is left that isn't defiled totally. The media, the films, the magazines, there's no restrictions.
It's just all gone. It's like an avalanche gaining momentum. How do you stop it? Yes, it's the last days.
Let me tell you something. There's no point in the last days, sir, that if God's people get down and pray for their nation that God won't come along with it. America, you have the most sophisticated, powerful army and warfare on earth.
But that army is not going to save you from the warfare you are facing, the true warfare. It's not Islam that you need to fear. It's the church.
Do you know why? Because there's one army that will save America from you one day being scared to walk out of the front door. There's so little left of life that is not fearful and wicked and dangerous. Unless the church of God gets down on its knees and gets right with God in this nation and cries out to God compassionately for the unsaved.
In war, an army on its knees, not with guns, but with the most powerful weapon on earth. The promises of God and prayer as a result to a holy God who gave those promises even to nations. If you read the Old Testament, it's not history.
It's for you and me until the day Christ comes back in case you think there's no nation that has the right to seek God for revival. Any greatness left in America is the result of the revivals of your nation that started with Jonathan Edwards. Where over a hundred towns and cities across New England turned to God in their entirety.
Most of them you couldn't find one soul left. To one man who stood and preached, Turn upon sinners in the hands of an angry God. The second most known preacher, the sermons, the second most known sermon of Christianity on earth.
Apart from the Sermon on the Mount. Sinners in the hands of an angry God. Over a hundred towns turned to God.
When that began, God sent George Whitefield and turned America as people were fleeing Europe. In their despair, the Irish, the horror of Europe, they came here to hope something better. They're streaming across to this land of hope and glory.
What are they coming for? What do you think? For God to give them food? No! Because something started there with Jonathan Edwards. When he prayed and fasted for 16 days, he didn't eat. He didn't sleep.
He just groaned, give me New England. And he wept and God gave him sinners in the hands of an angry God. But when he stood, they just wept and fell.
And right across that whole New England, they turned to God. Over a hundred town then, under Whitefield, turning as they came. They're just coming, what for? For God! But prayer was going on.
You read of the prayers that went up before Whitefield arrived. One woman particularly. What she cried for God to bring.
Oh, and America turned and you had more revivals than any other country in history. Two mighty revivals. Most revivals on earth are through Charles Finney.
Oh, it went down over 120 years, nearly 125 years of continuous revival upon revival upon revival right down to Finney. Most revivals in history, including China anyway, including South Africa's Andrew Murray, were the result of Charles Finney's writings of that revival. One of those culminating all those revivals with this nation was more honored than any other nation on God's earth because her forefathers did fear God and sought God and wouldn't let him go until he came.
And anything of the greatness of America that came is the result of that, sir. Nothing else. The little that remains is the result of that, that you have the privilege, the most privileged nation on earth still.
But you're going to lose everything, America. I don't want this to happen. I'm begging you, don't.
If God's people don't get right with God and stop all this entertainment, replacing the gospel to keep the young people with music that you go to nightclubs to hear and the worst rave concerts to hear. You're in the world, your moment you go into church is more than the world even gets sucked at you. You want this to turn? Oh, Church of Christ, the true saved, you need to get right with God because that promise in the Old Testament, if my people were called by my name, was not written historically for the Jews, sir.
If you don't know that these promises were written for you and me, these things happened to them for you and me as warnings to work faith that we could see God. Oh, don't you know that's why it's in the Old Testament? It wouldn't be there otherwise for us! New Testament, this dispensation of the gospel, yes, to get hold of this God who says if my people, who are called by my name, humble themselves and pray and turn from their wicked ways, my people's wicked ways! And boy, aren't we getting to there. Beginning with our wicked entertainment is to keep the crowds, but don't name sin or we might lose their tent or their crowds.
I don't care about their souls, let them go to hell, but we want their attendances and their money. What else are you really about? Answer to God! You that are angry with me, don't argue with me. Then will I hear from heaven.
I will forgive their sins, my people, and I will heal their land. What do you think that's healing about? And does God mock us? I don't blame the politicians if this country is destroyed. Don't listen for ten hours to every newscast and blame the politicians in anger.
It's the Church of Christ that God's waiting for, and this world is waiting for, getting on its knees. Seeking God for forgiveness and turning away from all this rubbish entertainment to draw the crowds, even if they go to hell, so long as we get the crowds. And bring this book back and throw out this rubbish entertainment that replaced the gospel.
And seek God in your prayer meetings. If there's an army that will save this land from destruction, know what's coming. It's one army.
It's an army of God's people, saved, washed in the blood of Christ, with Christ dwelling in them, and the Holy Ghost giving them groanings that cannot be uttered as he teaches them how to pray with his grief. Not tongues, but the groanings of God! Now, stream through the Bible for him to do this, even for your land, that knew more revivals than any other nation in history and brought about as a result ninety-something percent of every revival the world's ever known since, including South Africa's revival, which was when Charles Finney's books on revival were read from the pulpit. Andrew Murray fell down and prayed and God swept through his prayers and his life.
To America! Oh, you influence the whole world for wicked from Hollywood beginning and for good through the people of God in the past to great revivals that resulted through you and your nation and your forefathers. I fear one thing for you, America, and that is if the people of God don't get right with God. That's your only danger, not Islam.
Oh, by the way, if you're angry with me, let me tell you something. You get angry with me if I don't preach this, not if I do. Someone has to before it's too late.
