at a time preaching a series on soul winning, that my mother goes to be with the Lord just two and a half weeks ago. And so it is natural that I then preach, testify concerning the testimony of my own mother. God uses these things.
It is timely. It is specific. It is in his plan to even use that in a series like this.
That's why I never plan ahead, never worry about series. The Lord just seems to pour out and give messages and they come uniquely at a certain set time. Because we're not following some religious pattern.
We can't just do a set of sermons that someone hands us. You cannot do that. We're living in real life.
Death is a part of that. Birth is a part of that. And so all of this, our natural lives, all of you's becoming a part of this church, all affect the ministry of the preaching of the word of God.
Because it's not just theological and academic. It is God speaking the hearts. He is here.
Christ walks in the church. And so I believe that God, this is even in the timing of God to challenge mothers in this church concerning the raising of their children. I didn't plan the message around Mother's Day.
It's the Mother's Day in Ireland and UK on Sunday past. And I didn't plan that in order to preach this. And yet it fitted so perfectly for that.
You mothers, you wives, you ladies, it's especially a challenge for you. But for all of us, for me, for the men here, for the husbands, for the children, it's a challenge for all of us to hear somebody's testimony, to look at the end of their life and to consider that. But especially you mothers, my mom has left a testimony that should be a challenge to you.
I believe there's things she done, how God ministered to her. It wasn't just her doing things. God ministered things into this family.
And that ought to challenge you. We need examples in the body of Christ. We ought to look even in people in bygone ages who are godly women or mothers or wives, you ought to go search them out.
You ought to study, you ought to listen to their wisdom, but primarily scripture. Reading from 2 Timothy chapter one and five, we'll go to several different scriptures, but I want you just to read this tonight like we did on Sunday morning. Paul writing to Timothy, when I called to remembrance on famed faith that is in thee, which dwelt first in thy grandmother, Lois, and thy mother, Eunice.
And I am persuaded that is in thee also. Let's pray. Father, I do pray tonight.
Lord God, do you encourage all of us? We want godly homes in this church. We want godly mothers. Lord God, we ask for the wisdom of God.
We don't rely upon our own strength or ability. We don't draw on our own resources. No one can do that.
The mothers in this church, the ladies, the wives, they cannot do that. Lord God, they need your grace. They need your power.
They need your revelation. They need instruction from the word of God. They need to submit themselves to the wisdom that is taught in this book.
And father, I pray that you make the ladies in this church as a body. Oh God, you'd raise them up to be very wise in this dark and evil hour. Like just as you give wisdom to Moses' parents, Lord God, in hiding them and having faith, oh God, to cast them upon the water.
Lord God, I pray that you do that. You give real faith to the mothers, to the fathers. Lord God, that you'd raise up mothers, oh God, who have a confidence in you, that are wise in the things of God, who can communicate the scripture to their children.
We pray for every mother, those that are carrying babes in their womb right now, who are going to give birth in the year to come. Lord God, watch over these babes, prepare these women, not only physically, not only mentally, not only emotionally, but prepare them spiritually to see one of the greatest callings and tasks is to raise up godly children within the home. Lord God, let that responsibility, let that consciousness, Lord God, be upon them.
But Lord God, not looking inward to their own resources, but looking to you, to your guidance, to your word, to your truth, to your grace, to your love, your presence. Lord God, we ask that you bless them in Jesus' mighty name. Amen.
Amen. Here in this scripture, 2 Timothy chapter 1 and 5, we have one of those godly families that are spoken about and held forth in the Bible as an example and a testimony. Three generations walking with God amidst a pagan society.
Here they are with many circumstances around them. You actually have Timothy's mother Eunice. We read clearly her husband was a Greek, probably not saved, and yet she raised a child.
We have people in this church, those that listen to us, their families aren't perfect. Maybe an unsaved parent, an unsaved husband, and they say, how am I going to raise my children? The same way Eunice did, by the grace of God and the wisdom of God. You see, you've got examples in the Bible of a Hannah who was in a situation where a womb was barren, but through her prayers, God answers her prayer.
Her heart was broken. She was a woman of sorrows, but it created prayers that God answered. You see, you could be single praying, saying, I'm single, I'm not married.
Maybe those prayers will bring forth something in the body of Christ. Those ladies or men who don't have children, those prayers could be used of God to birth something in the kingdom of God. You see, I believe that every trial, every problem, every situation is ordained of God, that God's will can shine forth in the midst of that.
Timothy's family wasn't perfect in the sense that some talk about perfection, but it was a wonderful family, a godly family, and a spiritual family. He had a godly mother and a godly grandmother, and they communicated the scripture to him as a young child. He had a mother who knew the word of God and taught him the word of God.
Listen to what it says in Deuteronomy 29 and 29, a very important scripture. Listen to it. The secret things belong unto the Lord our God.
Now notice that there's things that only belong to God. All hidden, secret things belong to God. Things that no man knows, no human knows.
Then listen to what it says. But those things which are revealed belong unto us and to our children forever, that we may do all the words of this law. And so scripture is shown here that God has all hidden things.
He has all wisdom. He has all knowledge. But do you know who possesses that? To whom God reveals it.
And in the scripture it's shown that God can reveal to parents hidden things that only he knows. And he can actually begin to reveal them into a family. And it says that these parents, God can reveal to them secret things only known by God.
And then listen to what it says. And it says, and unto our children forever. So notice the secret things belong unto the Lord our God.
But those things which are revealed, now notice this, some things only God knows. But those things that God actually reveals belong unto you and to your children. You're going to get this principle all through scripture.
That God blesses a man, a woman, a family, a marriage, so he can begin to communicate to the children. The next generation, the second generation, the third generation, the fourth generation. Scripture time and time again talks about God blessing down to the third and the fourth generation of those who love him.
But those who hate him, curses, there are curses in the Bible. You see, I don't believe a Christian can be cursed, but I do believe people can be cursed. Those that hate God, they'll be cursed.
Those curses will be generational. But that's among sinners, not saints, not Christians. There is no generational curse amongst believers, but there is in sinners.
Those that hate God, those that ignore his word, there will be curses come down through that family line. You can't reject Christ and not have serious consequences. But here in Deuteronomy 29, it's saying God reveals things to individual parents like he did with Abraham.
Look what he done with Abraham and all of his children, Isaac, Jacob, Joseph, all the way down the line. God is blessing, blessing, blessing. Do you know what he does? He reveals his covenant to Abraham.
Then he reveals the same covenant to Isaac and then the same covenant to Jacob. Other families didn't have this. That family had it.
In other words, God started to do a work in Abraham that he's going to continue generation after generation after generation. Saints, if you're a first generation Christian, and most of you are, most in this church are, because God broke it in your families, then do you know what you have to do? You have to raise up a new beginning in your family, in your home. It wasn't in your parents or your grandparents.
You started fresh to say, you know what? God's going to reveal things that are going to go into my children's life. And if the Lord was to tarry, and I don't think we have that long, then it would go to our grandchildren and our great-grandchildren. Saints, I can look back generations of my family, as far back as I can trace, on both sides of my family.
There are godly Christians and there are godly preachers on both lines of this family. That's not accidental. Someone walked with God, someone prayed, but listen what else it says.
It says that we may do all the words of this law. God doesn't reveal to parents and give to their children so they can live their own life. God reveals things into families for this reason, that they can do all the words of this law.
Then listen again, going back to Deuteronomy 6 and 6. It says in these words, and this is a command, and these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart. Parents, listen this carefully. God's word given to you have to be in your heart.
If it's not, you're going to have a hypocritical faith in your family. That's why God's word's got to be in your heart, real, tangible in the family unit. Then listen to what he says.
And that thou teach them diligently unto thy children. If you want God's blessing on your children, this is how it comes. Teach his word that is in your heart, that has impacted you, teach it diligently to your children.
Don't just bring them to church. Don't just raise them in an atmosphere. You are responsible to teach, expound, speak about God's word diligently to your children.
If you want them to walk with God and have the secrets of God or the knowledge of God, you've got to teach them. Then it says this, and shall talk of them, of what? Of the word of God. God's word.
When thou sittest in thine house. Now look where he says, sittest in thine house. And when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up.
This is clear biblical teaching. People who say there's no, we can live a Christian life anyway. It doesn't matter how we live.
You're ignorant. You're grossly ignorant. This Bible is filled with instruction.
You ignore it at your peril. Oh, I can do it anyway. No, you can't.
Because this is the wisdom of God. These are the hidden things. He shows you how to have godly children.
How to keep this going to your children and your grandchildren and your great grandchildren. See, God's word actually shows us how to keep this thing going generationally. Not that it fades out so that you're on fire and the next generation gets colder.
And by the third and fourth generation, it is extinguished. That is not God's will. So the Bible teaches clearly, you mothers, you fathers, speak about God's word first thing in the morning.
Last thing at night, when you're sitting in your house, you're sitting in the car, when you're walking down the street, it gives you clear instructions. Let me bring you to the second part of my mother's testimony here, because I believe God revealed things in this family for generations. I believe God revealed things to my mother.
I believe God opened up his secrets through his word and communicated things to her that deeply impacted me and made me the preacher, the man that I am. I believe that my mother was God-given. It was in God's plan for my life.
She wasn't perfect. I could tell you all about her faults. I could look into that, because a child's close enough to see weaknesses where no one else does.
I could tell you her deepest frailties, her shortcomings. I could tell you of those little seconds when she let her guard down. But do you know what? As a child, I have to say, I had an outstanding, godly mother who loved the Lord Jesus Christ.
As I said, she was born in 1940, named Anna Lila Malcolmson, or her used name was Lila Malcolmson. On Sunday, I told you about how she got saved, raised in a farming family in Dremore, outside in County Down in Northern Ireland, and how the spirit of God began to move. That family home that's been in our home for four generations had an atmosphere of prayer, the word of God, of a moving of the spirit of God, and of genuine revival.
We called it Familiar Lee, the hill. That's what everyone knew. We're going to the hill.
And that was our house, Drummageddon Road, Skeak, Bambridge by address. But let me begin to tell you, just from where we left off, about how God moved in that family. Because from the beginning, there was a testimony of revival.
I don't think that's accidental. I grew up constantly from a child hearing about revival, personal testimonies of revival, books about revival, hearing about past historic revivals. And that's a part of the testimony of my life.
This church that God raised up, beginning one mile from my house, the first assemblies of God Church in Dremore, outside of Belfast, actually was birthed out a revival. In 1954, a preacher from America who had been born in Donegal, called James White, came to Belfast. God had given him a vision, years before, of a city hall.
In the city of Belfast was the statue of King George. And God spoke to him and said, I am going to pour out my spirit in 1954. I'm sending revival to Belfast.
He began to pray and prepare himself. Then he came over, and he shared with church leaders, Pentecostal church leaders in Belfast. And he said, God is going to move in a way.
You won't have a building big enough in Belfast to hold the people who are going to come to be saved, to be healed, to be baptized in the Holy Ghost. Well, they got him a small tent that had a capacity of a hundred people. This is the leaders of the Elam movement in Northern Ireland.
The meetings only lasted one week. These are Pentecostal people. During the week, the spirit of God fell on two people.
They broke forth in tongues, and Elam stopped the meeting and said, we're not having this preacher anymore. And he said, but God's going to send revival. He said, we don't want you as a preacher.
He went up to Ballymena, began preaching there, and the spirit of God moved. Miracles began to happen. The sick began to get healed.
I've spoken to people who were there. There was such crowds began to gather. The balcony began to crack under the weight of this.
They couldn't find a building big enough in Ballymena. So they moved down into Belfast, and they moved from building to building to building. Within three months, they're packing out the biggest buildings in Belfast city.
I've spoken to many people who are in those meetings. I've spoken to people who got saved in those meetings, healed in those meetings, changed in those meetings, and literally thousands would come. Hundreds would be queued up outside.
They wouldn't be able to get in those buildings. Finally, in those meetings, there were meetings in the King's Hall where there's a statue of King George, and the building was packed out. In the very last meeting, there was a Tarian meeting for the baptism in the Holy Ghost, and 2,000 people were baptized in the Holy Spirit of God.
No one laid hands on them. The spirit of God fell. This is 1954.
My family was impacted by this revival, but it was six years later. One of the converts in those meetings was a man called Frank Bray from Waterford. He actually owned the bookies where they gamble in Dublin and up in Belfast.
He was so rich, he owned houses in all different places in Dublin, Waterford, in the north, across Ireland. He was a rich man. He was a successful gambler.
He was well-to-do. But do you know what? In the revival, that first tent meeting when there was only 100 people there, small gathering, he got caught in the rain. He was a devout Catholic, but a good gambler and drinker, a blasphemer, a curser, a godless man, but a good Catholic.
To get out of the rain, he stepped into that tent. He didn't hear the gospel. He didn't go there to hear the Word of God.
But as he stepped in, the evangelist was holding a little baby that was crippled. He was crying tears. He prayed a simple prayer, Lord, heal this baby in Jesus' name.
The limbs of that baby immediately straightened and was instantaneously healed. Frank walked out of that meeting. That's all he's heard.
He went to the bookies in Belfast. For three days, he can't sleep. He can't eat.
He can't drink. He can't smoke. And eventually, after three days, he gets down on his knees.
He said, there's something about that name Jesus. I never heard about this in the Catholic church. And he got down on his knees, and he cried out and got born again.
You know, after getting saved, he hasn't been to church. He hasn't met any Christians. He walks out, tells his partner, says, keep it all.
I won't touch a penny of all of this. I don't want anything. The partner says, we'll see.
You'll be back. He never went back, saints of God. He was a young man.
Six years later, he comes down to Dremore. One mile from our house, he's invited to take a meeting. Someone phoned him up, said, God says he's going to send revival, and you're the evangelist, and God's going to heal the sick.
My daughter is in the insane asylum. They said she'll never, ever become normal again. But God's told me in the first night of this meeting, she's going to get healed, and that you're the preacher, and that we're going to have revival.
Frank told me personally, when he was 85 years old, he said, he's on there, listening to the phone. He says, well, God hasn't told me. And he went there, this little building in the countryside.
He said, no one is going to find this place. No one. That night, the ambulance arrived with that man's daughter.
She was brought in. You know what? God moved in that meeting. She was miraculously healed, instantaneously had her mind come back in, and you had the beginning of a move of God, just a mile from our family home.
My granddad's living in sin, as I told you. My mom's a young Christian, 18 years old, believed in Christ. But you know what? God is beginning to move in small ways.
Out of this was birthed a new church by this Waterford evangelist. They're more unheard of in that generation. Ireland was 97% dogmatic, closed Catholic.
Do you know what happened in the north? All through my childhood and my youth and my 20s, if you heard of one Catholic in southern Ireland, the Republic of Ireland getting born again, everyone rejoiced in the north. One soul. It was so rare.
It was like hen's teeth when I was young to hear of a Catholic in the south really getting born again and following Christ. It was a rarity. So for an evangelist to be saved and center our area and begin to preach, and my granddad gets saved, he disciples my mom and my dad and our family and begins to minister the Word of God.
And I can remember growing up, Frank was regularly in our home in those days. It was a remarkable thing. It was an amazing thing.
A church was raised up in Dremore. It never grew bigger than 100 people, but the sick were healed there. Cancer was healed.
TB was healed. The dead were raised. I know one person in particular, they died, but they were raised from the dead.
Cancers were healed in the bodies. My mom actually started her teenage Christian life like this. All nights of prayer, coming to the house of God where there's mighty miracles.
There's moving to the Spirit of God. And so the hill, a normal family, listen to me, this is a house. This is a home.
This is a family. They're farmers, normal people, but do you know what? God has a plan in the midst of that house, that house, that family, that farmhouse. Those bricks and mortars were a place where God would have prayer meetings and send people out to Dublin, Waterford, Cork, and even Limerick to evangelize.
Just two weeks ago when we were up there, one of the ladies that was involved in all of that as a young girl, as a teenager, happened to phone. And Anna and I, we picked up the phone. We listened for some 30 meetings.
And she said, do you know in those days, it was so dangerous in Limerick. We couldn't go on the high street. We couldn't rent a building.
We had to go in a hotel. It'd be too dangerous. And we had to be careful evangelizing into Limerick because the opposition was so strong.
Back in the 60s, if you preached in the streets in Dublin, just preaching like we do, you'd get a riot on the streets. I've read about it. Good men, godly men who my mom and Frank Bray and others knew in those days, or whom regularly had men of God there who rose up and done a work for God.
There's an evangelist called David Greenough. At an early stage, he came from Wales. He would regularly just sleep on my granddad's sofa there.
And then they would go pray, go evangelize. And there was a man called Alex Schofield saved in the same revival who later went out as a missionary. There was a man, old man called John Reid, prophet of the Moy, who he was often there at our house.
At their local church, there was a preacher came through called James McCune. Later, he went to Ghana, raised up 3,000 churches. My mom says she can remember him.
He was a big man there in Dremore in the church preaching the word of God. There was another man used to stay at our house called Philip Moabier. He went out in the 60s to Suriname in South America.
Brother Dissels is from there, and he actually done his wedding, married them. But this man, Philip Moabier, went out to Suriname and established the four-square gospel across that nation. But he stayed with my granny and granddad prior to that.
You see, you can have a home that's a very powerful thing in the will and the plan of God. You can have a family. You can have a marriage.
You can have a physical house that becomes a place where God can use for His glory. We often had preachers stay there, always had meetings, prayer meetings, and all of the rest. But let me bring you to my mom's marriage here before I lose myself getting caught up in revival.
You see, I grew up from a child hearing about revival. You know why? Because my mother experienced revival. She was in a church as a teenager that so impacted her life that she communicated that to her child.
Revival is real. The Holy Spirit is real. Miracles are real.
Gifts of the Holy Spirit are real, very genuine. It was a time when my mom's older sister disappeared for a whole period of time. She was wayward, backslidden, out in the world, a bit of a rebel, tear away, lived her own life.
She disappeared. Her parents didn't, my grandparents, my mom's parents, they didn't know where she was. And then it came on the news in those days that they found a blonde haired lady of that age drowned in the sea.
My grandmother was convinced it had to be her daughter. They hadn't heard from her for a year or two. That next morning she walked into church and a prophecy is given by people.
No one else knew this was going on. A prophecy is given. The news that you have heard is not true.
You are going to hear good news, good tidings within the next day. Within one day that daughter walked in the door. My granddad looked at her, went through his arms around her.
No rebuke, no chastening, no rejection, pure love for that wayward daughter. See, God is real. And I grew up in an atmosphere going, these things are practical and they are real.
And so my mom and dad married about 1964. I'm not sure of the exact date. I couldn't just get my upon that.
And they moved to Banbridge. They had been traveling around from town to town evangelizing. Once my mom got pregnant, it was time to settle in Banbridge.
She had done CEF courses, how to evangelize children, how to reach them with the gospel. And so when they moved to Banbridge, my dad got a bookshop. My mom sat in there, sold the books, advised the young men what to read.
Young men who are going to go into the ministry, she challenged them, know the scripture, be able to quote the scripture, don't add to the scripture. My mom was challenging them, discipling them in those days. It was a wonderful atmosphere.
My mom had her first son in 1966. One year later, she had her second son. And then in 1969, she had a little daughter called Anne.
Within three and a half years, you have my mother and father having three children, a very young family. And here they are. Here's my mother with a brand new daughter.
And she's also got a four-year-old and a three-year-old. I'm going somewhere. Listen to me, what I'm about to tell you.
Don't get distracted with anything going on to the side. Here you have a young mother. Her husband's a preacher who preaches at different places occasionally, who's an evangelist who likes to reach out on the streets.
But she's got this family, these three children. It becomes very busy in the home. She's not reading the Bible like she used to.
She stops going to meetings because it gets too busy in her life. It's chaotic. She says, I've got a new baby.
I'm too busy. I've got all the children. When the children are older, I'll go back to church.
I'll be in the meetings. I'll get back to reading. I'll get back to walking with the Lord.
It's just a very busy time. The Lord understands. Well, it was at that time, she went to the cot on a Sunday night.
My dad was away preaching seven miles away in Banbridge. She was at home with little baby Ann. She went to the cot, just several weeks old.
As she looked down, Ann has died that evening. My mom was shocked. There's a man who she asked.
He ran all the way to Banbridge to go and get my dad to let him know. It was a devastating thing in her life. Do you know what she said? Both of them after this knelt down together and rededicated their lives to the Lord Jesus Christ.
My mom actually said, Lord, if you should give me another child again, if you should grace me with another child, that child will be in church as soon as they're able to get there. I'm going to make sure that my child, if you give me another child, that child will always be in the house of God. That was me, by the way.
I've always been in the house of God. It used to be, I'd say when I was young, I slept on every seat. I slept under it, over it.
I woke up, heard a bit, all the rest, but I was always in the house of God during those days. This was something that deeply impacted my mother, that Christ has to be central in the home. If you're going to have children that follow God, you better make sure God is number one in your life.
We can't just tell others how to walk with God. You've got to walk with God in a very real way. As a young couple with these three children in 1971, my parents went to a meeting one night.
The preacher that night in the providence of God preached on pleading the blood from Exodus chapter 12. He talked about how there is a lamb for every house or for every family, the importance of the blood of Jesus for your family. Especially if you have young children, the importance of the blood of Jesus Christ for your children.
He taught them that each day you ought to stand and put faith in the blood of Jesus. You ought to plead the blood of Jesus. I'm not into pleading the blood over your car.
I'm not into being silly over these things. But I want to tell you, when we talk about pleading the blood, do you know what I mean? I mean that's your plea. That's your profession.
It's a legal term. Now would you say the blood of Jesus Christ is where my faith is? In the Old Testament in Exodus, that family, the little children were covered by the blood of the lamb. They took refuge in the house so that when the death angel passed by, they were under the blood in their home, in their house.
There was protection from the death angel. So when death was coming through the entire nation, visiting every single home, they had protection if they were under the blood. They heard the teaching on the blood that night that the blood of Jesus can protect your family.
And so they decided as a couple that night, said every day we're going to pray for the covering of the blood of Jesus over our family, over our children. That began with my mom the next day, every day, praying, asking for the covering of the blood, taking up that position of faith in the blood, not only for salvation, but protection from the death angel, from the evil one, from the one who comes to kill, steal, and destroy. The next day after that, just after hearing this sermon, she's working in the bookshop and Ian, my middle brother, they're all there and he's up on a wall, standing on a wall as a young child and a little girl comes up and pushes him.
The other side of the wall is a 10 foot drop or more and down below are big rocks and boulders everywhere and my mom knows that. They ran to the wall, my mother ran to the wall and looked over and as she looked down on this, there are boulders everywhere and my brother Ian is in the only spot in it all where it is all thick nettles, stingy nettles. There are rocks all around him.
If he'd gone a bit either way, any direction, he would have been utterly broken, killed, destroyed and yet he fell in the only place that was a place of safety. He was stung from head to toe. He cried and he screamed and she had to apply medication, but you know what, as she looked down and she's told me many times, as she looked down and seen that and they'd heard the teaching on the blood of Jesus Christ, on pleading the blood and the blood for your children, she knew instantly this was God showing her that that death angel can't even touch your children when you stand with faith in the blood of Jesus Christ and so she was established in the reality of this.
Every morning with the children she would pray, read the word of God. They would as a young family, later when my dad would be out working, then my mum would do this. In 1972, I came along.
My little sister or my big sister, older sister had died, but you know what, God gave me in place of her. I think within days, I mean days, not a week, days, I'm in the house of God perpetually. My mum couldn't get me in enough meetings.
At times we were in five different meetings on a Sunday. I lived in the house of God. I went from meeting to meeting to meeting.
I loved it. She made sure we were always in a meeting. Find a sleep in the house of God, but you don't need to go home to sleep, just sleep in here.
Everywhere the spirit of God was moving, my mum made sure that's where I was and where we all were. It's the best place for your children. You know, some people think of education, of your future, of your sports activities.
What about your spirituality? You see, that impacted me in a way that has never left me. Train up in a child in a way, the way that he is to go and he will not depart from it. That had a big impact on my life.
This isn't dead religion. It didn't make me sick of the house of God. It gave me such a love and respect and reverence where the spirit of God was moving.
I was always there from a child. In 1972 we were in Babbridge. I was nine months old and it was at that time my dad got a call to England.
We moved as a family over to Hadley in Shropshire in England. That's where I learned to speak, by the way. That's why I speak so well and clearly, more so than my neighbours in the north.
But we moved over there when I was nine months old and spent four years in England. It was four years later, at the age of four and a half, I got born again there in England in the church. My dad was a pastor.
He built it up for nothing. He worked as an insurance man and he worked to build up this worn down church without a pastor and he began to evangelize. They built that whole church and restored it on children's work, children's evangelism, children's outreach.
When you begin to touch the children then you get the parents, the mothers, the fathers and that church began to strengthen and become strong. The very first service in that church, and this might surprise you, the very first Sunday the new pastor and his wife is there and they're sitting there about to be announced and welcomed at the church. One of the deacons stood to welcome the new young couple, the pastor of the church.
My mom turned around, sees one of the other deacons holding up a sheet and written on it. It said shut up and he's holding it for the other deacon. See there was division, there was strife, there was bickering, there was fighting, there was a handful of people and they're at each other.
Do you know within four years you had a growing church, a blessed church, a mixed church culturally. There were Jamaicans, there were different nationalities there, all functioning together. There was a strong leadership together.
All of those men were working in unity. At that time by the way my mom went up to him, says give me that, thank you very much, ripped it up in front of him. Day one in a new church.
But you know what, my mom began to train the young people in scripture memorization. They were poor children, illiterate children, uneducated children and this small Pentecostal church in Hadley, they so trained them and the teenagers and poured themselves into the youth that that small band of youth actually began to compete against big churches and their youth on scripture quizzes. See I grew up with scripture quizzes all the time.
We used to have that, you had a fishing rod and a little fish and a magnet and you'd pull out a question out of the bag. I grew up with all of this scripture memorization. My mom teaching Bible stories.
I loved it. I love to hear my mom teach the things of the Word of God. You know one of the greatest preachers in the north of the last century, the greatest soul winner in the United Kingdom.
Do you know he got saved through when he was 10 years old through his mom preaching from John chapter 10 in a Sunday school in a children's meeting. Saints of God it's so real being raised in this atmosphere. One Sunday night in the middle of meeting I start crying.
If you see a child crying or disrupting a meeting that's nothing strange is it? You just you understand these things. A young child four and a half begins to cry. My mom took me took me out to the back of the church into the foyer at the church door and says Keith what's wrong? And with tears rolling down my cheeks I said I want to know Jesus.
I want to be saved. So she knelt down. She didn't mock me.
She didn't say wait. She didn't say well maybe he doesn't understand. Didn't say any of those things and she began to simply explain and tell me how to put my faith in the blood and believe in the Lord Jesus Christ right there and how to have confidence that he'll save me.
And we prayed together. I'll never forget it's one of my first three memories. We prayed and instantly the peace of God came and the joy of God came and the burden of sin rolled away.
That night in the meeting I could feel that separation from God. But when I prayed that night Jesus came to live in this heart. He changed me never to be the same again.
Saints it's real. I had a mother that was a soul winner. She led my oldest brother to the Lord and my middle brother a Louis backslidden iron far from God and fighting God.
He also had four years old. All three of us in three very different situations all had a crisis time at four and a half where we came to our mother and said I want to get saved. You see we were surrounded by the gospel.
We had parents who knew how to lead us to Christ. It wasn't going to church to get saved. In that home there was salvation.
There was parents who knew how to teach the word of God and how to lead us. You mothers you need to lead your children to Jesus Christ. You can be the biggest influence on your family possible or imaginable.
I can't even define to you the importance or the weight or the responsibility that is upon you. My mother taught me how to fast. She taught me how to pray.
She taught me how to read the word of God. She taught me about the baptism and the Holy Ghost. She taught me about Israel and scripture.
She taught me about the gifts of the Holy Spirit. She taught me about the working of the Holy Spirit in your life. She taught me about holiness of life and walking in obedience to God.
All of this came out of a mother in the home. Not a college, not a Bible school. I never went to college.
I wanted to but none of them would let me in so I was just self-taught then. But I tell you my mother taught me things no preacher in my lifetime has been able to teach me. She impacted me with things that no preacher on this earth could have laid into my life.
It was dynamic. I hope tonight you get encouraged mothers and ladies in this church that you've got a great call upon your life. You could lead someone to Jesus Christ who could touch this world with the preaching of the word.
It's a dynamic thing. When I was five years old we moved to Scotland. My dad moved from the Elam church there.
He had built it up. It was prospering. It was blessed and they left it.
Someone else came in and pastored and he moved to Scotland. We moved there. I was five years old.
We moved there. Didn't have much money. Didn't have much to our name but that wasn't a good church.
Again it was a bad situation. We walked in in a bad situation. There was four deacons.
All of them were a mess. Their lives were a mess. That isn't according to scripture.
Someone left it like that. My dad wrote to Elam headquarters said I suggest you close this church down. It's hopeless and start all over again.
It's useless working with these folks. Just shut it down and start again. I can remember about five years old in a business meeting in that church.
Thank God it never happened here. It never will happen here. Not while I'm here.
In that business meeting I remember clearly two men getting their coats off and putting their fists up to fight in that church business meeting. At that point my mum grabbed me and walked me home. I don't know what happened after that.
I wasn't privy to it. They never told me. It was a dark time in that church.
Elam headquarters thought my dad was wrong. Didn't listen to him. He said shut the thing down.
It was terrible that year and a half in that church. My dad ended up losing his voice eventually in that church. He had to move back to Northern Ireland then as a family.
It was the darkest point in their marriage. It was the darkest point in his ministry. It was a dark point in their entire life.
It seemed like nothing was working. Everything was over. It was utterly hopeless.
Such darkness come in. But you know in the midst of that you know something else happened. I can remember a band of believers gathering in our living room.
See house meetings are a powerful thing. This particular night I was about five years old and adults were standing there in our living room with hands lifted just praising the Lord. I was sitting on the sofa as a kid would just waggling my legs on the edge of the sofa.
They were all standing praising God. As they did everything disappeared and I had an open vision of the sky, the clouds of heaven. And in the clouds of heaven this is the first vision I ever had.
One of my first three memories. The first was being born again. The second was this vision.
I was there. Everything disappeared. The sofa, the people, the room.
And suddenly this is so clear. This window is set in the heavens and the window is open. And this mighty river is flowing out.
And I knew it's revival. It's a coming revival. And you know what? I'm telling you it's still to come.
It hasn't happened yet. And I prepared my whole life for this. Prayed for it.
Believed for it. Labored for it. There is coming a revival.
It's a part of my life. You see I was in a home that didn't quench the things of the Spirit of God. My mom told me the story often said the Elam Pentecostal Church was a dead loss.
It was hopeless. But gathering in that living room was people from the Congregational Church and the Church of the Nazarene and some other local churches. Traditional churches.
And they were there. It was one time they were kneeling in a circle praying. No one praying for them and laying hands.
And all of a sudden all those people from those different churches started to get baptized in the Holy Spirit and speaking in tongues all in one night. All of them. No one laying hands on them.
The Spirit of God just came down. One of those young ladies, I think it was in the Congregational Church. They never made altar calls.
They never called people to come forward to be prayed for. And she comes screaming running down the pathway to my mom saying you're not going to believe it. Revival broke out.
Says I've been fast and praying because of these meetings. And you're not going to believe what happened Sunday morning. The pastor began to preach the gospel.
Make an altar call. He opened up the altars. People were kneeling there repenting.
Getting right with God. Revival has come to our church. There's the dead Congregational Church is having a revival.
And there's the Elam Pentecostal Church. It's dead and sin. It's barren.
Christ isn't even moving there. It was hopeless. So it's strange.
These are the things I grew up in around. And my mom was a praying mom. Fighting, laboring in that house seeking God.
Because my dad lost his voice we moved back to Northern Ireland. It was a dark time. A very hard time.
Even in their relationship they were arguing. It was not an easy time. But even in those times God is very gracious, very kind and moving in these different things.
We moved back to Northern Ireland in 1979 to Banbridge to a place called Mirfield. Again children's meetings in the home. My dad began working.
Got a secular job. But his voice was better and he started traveling from church to church preaching the gospel. And I can remember in those meetings I'd bring all my neighbors in.
My friends. Our living room was constantly packed out. Lots of little seats.
And I can remember the nights before I'd be helping mom. She'd be writing out the scriptures because you didn't have laptops. And you didn't have printers.
All that stuff. And she'd write out every scripture text for each meeting. And I'd be drawing the lines in around it with different colored pencils.
And we'd be giving it to the kids to memorize their scripture. Oh I forgot my pilgrim's progress tonight. I was going to bring it.
I went and forgot it. And she'd be using that pilgrim's progress book that I showed you on Sunday. She would teach.
I love to hear. I heard it several times. Pilgrim's progress.
How she would teach it. How someone walks with Jesus Christ. There in Banbridge when I was eight years old the devil made a bid for me.
My mom didn't know it. The church didn't know it. The pastor didn't know it.
But the devil made a bid for me. The devil come to me and I didn't know it at the time. I thought it was just me and the pride of my eight-year-old heart.
I didn't think anyone knew. But later after this I knew it was the devil. See the devil doesn't wait for you to grow up to make a bid for your soul.
He comes to you when you're young. Especially when you're in an atmosphere like this. This is dangerous.
He doesn't like you being in this atmosphere children. And so he will want to destroy your soul at a young age. This thought came to me.
I don't want to go to heaven. It's cold. Jesus I know.
Go to heaven. With the father. Jesus I know.
The father. Who's he? And this started rolling me. But if you're born again you have to go to heaven.
I don't want to go to heaven. So in order to not go to heaven I have to stop being born again. So I made a conscious decision.
I said as of now. I'm eight years old. As of now I decide I'm not born again anymore.
And I can remember walking hand in hand with my parents to Sunday school on a Sunday morning. And I'm thinking they don't know. They think I'm just the same Keith.
They don't know what I've decided in my heart. No one knows. The pastor doesn't know.
The Christians don't know. But I know. This went on for three months.
And then one night three months later in the middle of the night as I slept the Lord Jesus Christ came to me in a dream. Not physically. Not visibly.
But in this dream he came to me and he stretched out his hand. He said come I'm going to show you the father. And he didn't take me to a person.
He said if you've seen me you've seen the father. The father's exactly like me. I don't know these scriptures.
I'm an eight-year-old dyslexic child. Uneducated. Who's too shy to speak to anyone apart from my mother.
Talk to my mother okay. And here in the middle of night everything gets dealt with. The power of Satan's bus.
Ladies you better plead the blood. You better pray for your children. Read the scripture with them in the morning.
You don't know the fights they're going through. You stand between them and hell. And you know what I'm sick to death of the devil marching into churches.
Stealing the teenagers. Stealing the children. We need to go to war here.
You're on war orders. Don't leave it to a preacher. Oh it's the men's job.
No it's not. You ladies need a wrestling prayer. You need a fight for the children.
We need children in this church on fire for God. And so when we lived there my granny actually got ill in 82 and was in the hospital. And she died in hospital.
Just before that my mum went in to see her. And when she walked into the hospital my granny was very ill. She walked into the hospital.
She come in there was these bunch of men in round the bed. All dressed very well. All with Dublin accents.
Can you believe it? This is in the midst of the troubles. This is when high security was there. And all these Dubliners.
My mum didn't know who they were. And she'd come in. She got all worried and went all these southern accents round my granny's bed just before she dies.
And then they said do you do you know who we are? Years ago we were alcoholics on the streets of Dublin. And we got saved and sent up to your mother and father's house. My grandparents.
And they looked after us and taught us and prayed for us and had us stay here. And one of them turned said your mother my grandmother bought me my first suit. I lived on those streets an alcoholic.
But your mother bought me my first suit. Saints of God it's a wonderful thing how God can move in a family. Well my grandmother died and when she did.
Do you know that's the first time I ever seen a dead person dead body in the same room that my mum was laid in a week ago. And where I stood with her coffin there. All those years ago when I was nine years old.
My mother said to us three boys. Your granny's going to be with the Lord. The coffin's there.
The body's there. You don't need to. But do you want to come with me? And we can just stand and see.
And we went up and stood in that same room. Three boys. And my mum said she's home.
This is only a shell. It's a body. She's there with the Lord Jesus Christ.
You know it was a lovely experience for me. Because I wasn't scared of death. And our mother talked us through.
She didn't hide it. You know we had a relative who his mum died. He was five years old.
We talked about this in our family the other day. He was five years old. And they hid it from him.
Didn't tell him his mother died. Sent him away to relatives. Had the funeral.
It was a terrible experience. Never do that. Be honest.
Be real. Be genuine. We all need to walk through these things.
Death is a real thing. And I faced it at nine years old. And there's no fear in it for the Christian who knows the Lord Jesus Christ.
God help you if you're not saved and born again. It's a terrible thing to go to the grave of someone who doesn't know Jesus Christ. And so we moved to the hill as a family.
And that was then to become our family home. As a family of five. Us three boys.
Our mum and our dad. My granddad was still alive. But he was broken hearted.
He only lived seven months. Do you know what he died of at 75? A broken heart. He so loved my grandmother.
I mean he loved her. Honeymoon experience. Can I say something about this? We've had people talk about honeymoon experience.
You don't know anything. This gets better. It goes deeper.
It's what you make it. A marriage is what you make it. My granddad was on a haystack.
He looked down. Seen my grandmother. Fell in love with her.
See the last several months of his life he was broken hearted as a 75 year old man. And you know what? He died of a broken heart. Not sickness.
Not anything. And on a Sunday night I was in church several months after my grandmother. I was in the front seat.
He was in the back seat. Sang the last hymn with full gusto. I looked around.
I watched him in the very back seat. Just sit down. Go into the presence of the Lord.
In one second. To be absent from the body. What is it? To be present with the Lord.
He went straight into the presence of the Lord. And so our family was there at the hill. We had all manners of meetings.
It was a hub of meetings. Open airs. My dad held open airs in different surrounding towns.
Preaching evangelism. He raised up teams that went from church to church to testify. To sing.
He took teams to different countries. They would stand on the high street of Bambridge on a Sunday night and preach the gospel. I as a kid was sitting in the car listening to them as they preached.
That's all I knew growing up. Then in Balmahinch again. He would go and show Christian movies in different places.
But in their home church it was a dull time. A dry time. A cold time.
A nominal time. See mum had known revival. Someone once said when you've been born in the fire it's hard to live in the smoke.
See when you've experienced real revival you can't stand normal churchianity. And everyone's thinking this is normal church. It's not.
There's revival. There's fire. There's the power of God.
There's a move in the spirit of God. We've got used to not having a move of God. And you know what? My mum become almost depressed.
And she went where's the power of God? Where's the gifts of God? Where's the reality of God? And she went to this meeting in Lisbon once. There was a visiting preacher called Sandy Thompson. She went into her heart and said where are you God? Where's that reality of the supernatural? And she was sitting there with all of this going on.
And Sandy Thompson they're in a corrugated metal building. Really corrugate the whole thing. And there was a bunch of kids throwing stones on it all the way through the worship.
This had gone on all through the service. My mum's listening to this. And then Sandy Thompson stands up to preach.
And this is what he done when he stood up. Turned to the side. And he says with a quiet voice.
And he prayed in Jesus name not one more stone will hit this roof. Amen. And he turned opened up his body.
My mum was sitting there waiting, waiting. No stone hit the roof. These are little tokens how God deals with the person.
See my mum prayed with us as children. She believed and answered prayer. At times she got cruel or done the wrong thing or neglected.
But always coming back to the Lord Jesus Christ. He was everything to her. One incident 1985.
Let me. I've got so much I could just keep sharing. But I want you to realize the reality of what we're talking about.
It's real when you look back on someone's life and they walked with God. Or should I say God walked with them. That's where the reality is.
1985. I'm with mum. My two older brothers are at work.
They're out of home, out of school. But I'm at home every morning all through my teens. 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16.
I'm the only one there. And we pray. She reads the word of God every morning.
We pray every morning. 1985 she prayed this prayer. Lord, she prayed for the family, prayed for the brothers, pleaded the blood of Jesus.
That's our salvation. That's our protection. And said, and Lord, this morning will you protect Ian's car that no harm comes to it? That's what she prayed.
Simple prayer. Later that day at the end of school, she picks me up from school. Says, Keith, I can't understand it.
There's been a terrorist attack. And Ian phoned me to say he's okay. But he said this, mum, my car's wrecked.
Said I've gone down, looked. Bombs fell there. My car's wrecked.
My mum's prayed that morning very simply with her son saying, Lord, protect Ian's car. Very specific. Says, Keith, this is what she said.
Keith, see we've lost reality. Don't be scared to be real. Says, Keith, I don't understand it.
This morning you and I prayed for Ian's car to be protected. I don't understand it. Later that evening Ian phoned again.
Says, mum, you're not going to believe it. He's backslidden. He's out in the world.
Says, you're not going to believe this. I actually went down to the car park. And the car either side of mine's destroyed.
And my car is absolutely fine. This during the troubles, many things happen. Here's another incident.
A bomb went off and Ian's bed was absolutely destroyed. Something like 6.30 in the morning. He just happened to be away with his mates swimming at that time in the morning.
If he'd been in his bed and they seen the attack happen and they seen the bombs fall in his room and it destroyed everything, his entire room wrecked. If he'd been in his bed one hour longer, he'd be a dead man. See, we had a mother who prayed.
Both my brothers had incidents like this. Driving over booby traps that happened not to go off. Car accidents.
Or me in 1988 in a helicopter, 16 years old. I'm about to get in a helicopter, two of my mates in front of me. I'm away from the Lord for a few months, fighting, wrestling, trying to run after the world.
I'm about to get in that helicopter. It goes up in front of us. My mates are on it.
17 years old. It goes over the trees and the engine stops. It links helicopter over in England and it crashes, bursts into flames.
And two of my good mates that I was drunk on the beach with die in that helicopter accident. And that's the thing that wakes me up and brings me back to the Lord. Since I believe we had a mother at home praying for us amidst great troubles and dangers all around us.
It was a real time. You see, all through those years and all through my teens and my 20s, I think of the books my mum encouraged me to read. The talks we had every day in the car, waiting on the bus every single day, at home every day, before going to bed, before getting up in the morning.
She was always there. She's my mother. Talking about money.
I watched her attitude towards money. I watched her fast at home. I'd come into the kitchen at times.
She's fast and I'd speak to her. She wouldn't even hear me. Just caught up with the Lord.
I watched her fight through, pray for people in that church. I watched how she dealt with things in that church. My mother was a profound example and testimony to me in a real way.
She was a real woman of prayer. I was 15 years old. I got home from school.
My dad, I don't ever remember him being sick. Never. 15 years old.
Men would be doing exams at school and it's one of his work colleagues picks me up says, your dad's very ill. We've called for the ambulance. I don't know what's waiting for me.
We get home. We go in. My dad's rolling on the sofa, holding his stomach.
I've never seen him sick and he's groaning. He's in pain. I didn't even take my coat off.
My school bag was on me. I'm 15 years old and I just stand there staring at my dad. He's in pain and agony.
The ambulance arrives. They rush him into the hospital and that night they operate on him. My brother Ian was there and the surgeon said, when we open the stomach, the entire stomach is filled with cancer.
Every part of that stomach. We can't operate. There's nothing we can do and they closed him back up, took some for specimens and the surgeon said to my brother, my back sitting brother, when man can't do anything, God can do something.
God is the only answer for your dad. They told us that night that if he survived the night, he's got three days maximum to live. Out of the blue, that's a shock for a 15 year old.
That night my mum had a migraine headache. When she had a migraine, she couldn't have any lights on. She couldn't hardly handle noise or light.
She called us three boys and we stood there in the room. Says, boys, this is what the doctors have said. Your dad, if he lives the night, we'll go in and see him tomorrow.
If he survives the night, we're going to see him tomorrow in the hospital. If he survives the night, he's got three days maximum left. They can't do anything.
This is what she said. Said, that's what the doctors say, but I believe God and I believe God's going to heal him and raise him up again and I'm going to pray and we're going to pray and we're going to trust God. My two brothers are backslidden.
I'm their 15 years old. He did survive the night. We went in the next day and I'll never forget rest of my head on my dad's bed and weeping and crying.
I was in shock and they're praying. After we left, the elders of the church come in. They anointed him with oil.
My dad later testified. I've got this on a video. I need to show you it sometime.
My dad testified that as they prayed from the power of God came down on him. They had to go to the toilet. He went to the toilet and all this black stuff just flushed out of his body.
He didn't think and he started to get well. It disappeared. All the cancer disappeared.
He sat with the top specialist in Belfast, the top man in the entire country who dealt with cancer and rare forms of cancer and he said, Mr. Malcolmson, sometimes these things just happen and we don't understand. We can't explain it. My dad testified, said, I know it's the Lord.
The Lord touched me. For three years, my dad done missions, seen people saved. I got baptized in water during that time.
Many things happened. He led many to the Lord. I was 18 years old and he had a sudden relapse and he said, it's time for me to go home and he went to be with the Lord.
Some of these things are very hard. My mom was 51. My dad was 55 when he died.
My mom was only 51 years old. She's going to live 34 years. Maybe I need to do a part three in this.
I'm not going to do that. But she was going to live 34 years as a widow. But you know what she'd done? She'd raised a family.
She'd raised three children. She was a wife. Wasn't perfect.
There was problems along the way. She had to be forgiven. She had to repent.
She had to put things right. But she's someone who believed God, believed in the Lord Jesus Christ. She impacted my life profoundly in an amazing way.
She was going to be a widow. How was she going to live out the rest of her life? It says in 1 Timothy 5 and 3, honor widows that are widows indeed. Then it explains all women are not biblical widows.
All widows in the church are not real widows. Listen how it explains a real godly widow in the church looks like. Chapter 5 verse 9, let not a widow be taken into the number under three score years old.
In other words, don't look after widows in the church if they're under 60 years old. This is biblical teaching and it's not even taught in today's church. It's not even practiced in today's church but it will be here.
Then listen, it gives the qualifications of a widow who doesn't have family who we ought to look after. Well reported of for good works. If she had brought up children, if she had loved strangers, if she has washed the feet of saints, if she has relieved the afflicted, if she has diligently followed every good work.
My mom was a widow indeed. She was a biblical widow. Our home all through the years, she opened up the hill to house meetings, gospel meetings, preachers coming through.
She was disorientated because she'd lost her husband. For three years she couldn't cry. She wanted to be strong in front of the children.
Mommies don't do that. My mom was wrong. Later she said three years she never cried a tear.
She had to be strong for the boys. When I got home my dad had died. I walked in there and all I wanted to do was comfort my mom but she didn't cry.
She should have cried. You don't need to be strong. You need to be real.
You need to be genuine. Three years later she comes to visit me in Switzerland. God meets with her and opens up the well.
She just weeps and breaks and God deals with her, releases all this grief and mourning and pain and heartache and confusion and ministers to her. That house become a place of God's presence. She moved to Scotland for a period of a few years.
I was ministering in Scotland for seven years. She moved there away from the hill, rented the hill out to others and for two or three years was with me in Scotland. Just for a short period of time she came over there, following the children's work, looked after the children in the creche when others could get in to be in the house of God.
Her house was always open. Her little flat in Scotland in Perth was always open to others and then God brought her back again to the hill. I'm going to close with this.
She came back to the hill again in the will of God and the plan of God. I left Scotland, came back home for six months. I knew every door to me seemed closed.
I had to walk out of a very sad situation. Everything. Poured myself out for seven years, left with nothing.
Came back home to mummy's. You know mummy's, these big boys need to come back home at times over the years. Been out there in the things of life.
Just to come back, mummy's cooking, mummy's love, mummy's being there. Back to the old bed again. There's a comfort in that.
You'll never understand what having a home, just a place you can call yours is. Very important for children to have that. In 2020 I left Scotland, came back and I went through several months of not knowing the will of God.
Then suddenly I met that man, B.H. Clendenin. God began to move in a great way. And you know what? The first meeting for School of Christ in Europe we held in my mum's living room.
I had gone to many pastors that didn't want to touch it. They didn't want to know about it. They wouldn't come to anything.
So we started with 10 people in my mum's living room. None of them preachers, none of them pastors. I'll just start in mummy's house, our living room.
That's where I'll start. Place of prayer, place of faith. It's a good place to start.
Within one year every door in the north is open to us in all manners of church groups. The biggest churches in the north, Pentecostal churches, were open to us. And we were holding meetings and the Spirit of God began to move.
And for three years God began to move in such a way that people you met last week would say it was revival. I don't necessarily call it revival, but they call it revival. And their lives were utterly transformed, utterly turned upside down by the Spirit of God in those days.
Saints of God, my mum had a house that was always open to the will and the plan of God. We had teams of evangelism come from America. B.H. Clendenin stayed at the hill, preached in our barn outside, went and evangelized into the nation.
Also had his 60th anniversary there. He stayed in Limerick too long, went on to Vietnam, wasn't home for his 60th anniversary. Phoned me up, said, son, my wife, Sister Clenden, wants to come to Northern Ireland.
Would you spend just that time? We stayed at my mummy's, traveled around the country, showed him castles that almost choked the man of God. The one and only time in his life he said, will you show me around some castles and historic sites? He wasn't a man for that, but it was for his wife, for the 60th anniversary. And you know what? During the last several years of my mum's life, it was hard.
She began to lose the clarity of her sight. She had to give up driving, wasn't as mobile, couldn't travel. Last time she came down here was seven years ago.
Hannah had just walked into the church, was a visitor who wasn't going to stay around. And my mum said to me, said, when they're out at our house, New Year's Day, we're out there. My mum says, just imagine, Hannah could be speaking, speaking to Mary, Suve's mother.
I said, just imagine, Hannah could be speaking to her future daughter-in-law. Can you imagine that? And they're all there praying. She was praying for Mary, praying for her salvation, that God would move.
Always prayed for this church, although she couldn't leave the hill much after that. Eventually, 2020, confined to the hill for five years. She'd never been to church five years.
This is someone who lived in church, ministered in church, because physically, medically, she just couldn't be out and about. She was in the house. People still came to the house.
Life was quieter. But you had someone there who loved God, walked with God, and who left a good testimony. It does have its difficulties and its fights.
And you know what? See, over this two weeks, just last week, on the night before her burial, the hill, that living room where her grandmother, my great-grandmother, used to pray, and her grandparents prayed, and she prayed. Guess what? You've got a bunch of Southerners and people from other nations, the Czech Republic, et cetera, and England, all in there, praying, worshiping the Lord. And I sat there and went, how fitting that a place, a living room that was so important to evangelize in the South, prayers going out from there, a family who was burdened for this nation of Ireland, for revival, that it would be filled with praise and worship and adoration with people like you and I. The next day at the funeral, four men from Limerick carried that coffin for one of the portions of time.
And I wanted that, because I went, this is very important, that this church is a part of carrying that woman to her grave, that her physical body will rest in place until the resurrection. She's with the Lord. Her body's in the grave.
They'll be reunited at the coming of the Lord when the bodies are joined again with the spirit and the soul, and we're made perfect in the presence of the Lord. I hope and pray this testimony, in some small way, there's a hundred, a thousand other things I would love to communicate to you. I'm sure it'll come out over the years, testimonies, little snippets, maybe things I've forgotten, but I'm telling you what a mother looks like in the home.
I'm telling you of the impact of a mother upon her children, what it can be. But it was the grace of God, the wisdom of God, it was the word of God that was in that home, children's meetings, evangelism, prayers prayed, faith in fighting for her husband when he's given days left to live. You need to raise up that testimony here in this church, and we need a revival.
My heritage, my history, is one of revival, a testimony of revival. And I've seen unusual things in my life, but what I believe God showed me as a child, I have not yet seen. And there is a common revival, the likes of which you and I can't even imagine, because you haven't seen it yet.
You haven't experienced it yet, so you can't even comprehend it. You can read about it in other lives, in other nations, in other eras, but you have not seen it and walked in it. And it can seem like a foreign thing or a non-real thing, but it's in this book, and it's taught in this Bible.
And saints of God, the hidden things, when God reveals them to someone, they belong unto their children as well, forevermore, and to their children's children, for as long as that family walks with God. And I want to encourage you women, you husbands, you men, you sons, we need to stir ourselves that we have strong godly families in this church. This church is only as strong as the family units and the marriages and the relationships and the individuals and how you function as individuals.
Please stand with me. Hallelujah. Let's pray.
Just lift your hands. Saints of God, have faith in God. We're in a warfare.
Hell knows who we are. The powers of darkness knows who this church is. They knew who this family was.
They knew the reality of what God was doing. And I'm telling you, we're in a warfare for the souls of men. We're not living for our own selves.
This church isn't here for any selfish reason. We want to be a vessel for God, just like God has a family. He can have a home or a marriage.
He also has a church. And this church has been raised up with a divine plan and purpose. And I've been put here in the will of God to be the preacher.
There's nothing accidental about this. The hand of God is here and God has a purpose in this and a reason why you are here. You ought to ask yourself why you're here.
Why the things being taught here are being communicated to you. Why God has placed you here to hear testimonies like this and see reality like this and be cared for like this. We are a spiritual family.
This church is a real family unit and I believe God is going to do wonderful things and he's got plans for the children and even the children in the womb at this time. Now God has got a purpose. Hallelujah.
Father, we love you. Tonight, we bless you. We rejoice in you.
We rejoice in the power of the blood. The blood of Jesus Christ cleanses from all sin. We overcome the evil one, the devil, the accuser of the brethren by the blood of the lamb and the word of our testimony.
And Lord God, here tonight in this gathering, I pray this testimony would destroy the power of the accuser. Lord God, thank you for Lila Malcolmson. Thank you for my mother.
Thank you for that godly influence. Thank you for your faithfulness to her. Your grace, your wisdom, your power, your faithfulness.
Lord God, that you sustained her and brought her through trials and Lord God, we pray in this church, raise up many. Raise up children like Timothy. Lord God, raise up praying women.
They'll stand in the gap and fight. Raise up family units that are strong, oh God. Give us victory over the devil.
Lord God, answer prayers in this church. Lord God, do the devil rages. Send us a revival in Limerick City.
Pour out your spirit in southern Ireland. My God, right across this Ireland, north and south. Lord God, we ask of you the prayers that my mother prayed from 1961 until her dying day for revival in all of Ireland.
Oh God, do it again. Remember the prayers of many generations. Pour out your holy spirit.
Send a revival, oh God. Revive our families and our life, oh God. Do wonderful things and save us from the hand of our enemies.
In Jesus name, we glorify you. Let's praise him. Oh, we rejoice in you, our God.
We bless you. We exalt you. We glorify you, our God.
Hallelujah. Blessed be your name. Blessed be your name, oh God.
Oh, worthy is the lamb. Oh, hallelujah. Oh, hallelujah.
Lord Jesus, Lord Jesus, blessed be your name. Oh God, pour out your spirit. Fill us with the holy spirit.
My Jesus, my Jesus. Oh, hallelujah, hallelujah. Move in our gathering.
Move amongst our children. Save them mightily. Set them on fire, oh God.
Oh God, move mightily in the children's lives. Oh God, bring a reality in this house. Raise up children that are going to burn on fire.
There are going to be soul winners, oh God. Lord God, raise up mothers that are soul winners, that are going to lead their children to Christ. Oh God, raise up each one of us, oh God.
Use us to destroy the works of the devil. Use us to preach this gospel again. Let the power of your gospel come to Limerick.
Shake this city, oh God. Lord God, we need a visitation of God. We need a mighty outpouring of the spirit of God.
Lord God, give us souls in this city. Give us a mighty harvest of souls in this nation. Lord God, move in every town and city again.
Oh God, revive your work in the midst of the years. Oh God, have mercy tonight in Jesus' name. We desire you, oh God.
We long for you. Lord God, arise again. Shake the heavens.
March through this nation again. Oh God, give us a vision of coming revival. Awaken us, oh God.
Lord God, help us to pray and wrestle in prayer. Oh God, to not give up, to not lose heart, oh God. To have faith in you, Lord Jesus.
Oh, blessed be your name. We love you, Lord Jesus. Worthy is the lamb.
Worthy is the lamb. Worthy is the lamb. Oh, we exalt you.
Thank you, Jesus. Thank you, Jesus. Be glorified.
Hallelujah.
