Wise and foolish Virgins (Video)

As you know very well, just down the road here in Bedford once, I had good reason to drive through and as I swerved around those little streets, I was so glad, so happy when I turned the corner and seen that statue of John Bedford or John Bunyan and you know what, he was holding forth his hand pointing directly and I thought, as I drove through, I went, I don't know what the churches are like in this area, I don't know what they're like in this town, but I tell you, maybe God has just one witness, that man of God has a statue standing there holding forth the word of God, a silent witness, but what a witness for this hour, what a remarkable witness since you have a remarkable heritage in this area. I love that tinker from Bedford, he's one of the great men of God that I love and I've got all his works on my shelf, I give out his testimony still to our new converts and what a remarkable dealing of God, that in one man, God dealt with him for five years, he didn't say a sinner's prayer, it wasn't a quick believism and blab it and grab it, you had a man being dealt with by the Holy Spirit of God, five years of mental torment, spiritual conviction of the Holy Spirit, but you know what a convert, you know why I believe we'll have few John, I keep wanting to say the wrong name here, John Bunyan's, do you know why we have so few, because we have watered down the gospel, we have changed the gospel and we don't let the Holy Spirit of God deal in the fear of God with an individual, but I'm telling you, God dealt with that man and you got a preacher, the like of which England has rarely seen or heard, you know it's only down the road here, there's a place I don't know if you know it, but it's called Highbury Hall, I think I've got the name right, where the Polhill family were, one of the seven, Cambridge seven, who went out to the mission field, what a man, what a missionary, meetings happened down there, the first meeting before Stud went out to the mission field, they had a gathering there, I've read about it, I've written about it, I've studied that, remarkable thing, saints, we are right at the end of the age, we are right at the end, if you know the signs of the times, if you even know a fraction of what's happening in our world, we ought to be burning bright like no other generation, I want to tell you, if you're asleep here, there's something terribly, terribly wrong with you, the hour we live in, if you can spiritually look at the watch and say, I know the hour, but there's no urgency in you, you need to take a second look at your spiritual life, well, we bring you greetings from Limerick City in Ireland, we've got a wonderful church there, they send their blessings, greetings, they're praying for you here, and Pastor Steve, I met for the first time in a prayer meeting on a Wednesday morning, I believe, and we prayed together, first time meeting them was yesterday, and do you know what, apart from about three people this weekend, there's not one person I think I'm right in saying, over this entire weekend, that I met face to face until this weekend, apart from three people, and they're in the meeting here tonight, all of these other wonderful friends have become friends in the midst of one of the worst crises, one of the most unbelievable crises in my lifetime, and when the world is shutting down, and fear is gripping hearts, I am actually more excited about the body of Christ right now, than I was a year and a half ago, or two years ago, since unless you realise it, there is something unbelievable, spiritually happening in this hour, that you cannot imagine, and it's only beginning, this is the last call, it is the last hour, it is about to come to an end, and we better know they are, please turn with me here to Matthew 25, Matthew 25, you know several years ago, we began building a church, we stopped travelling, I love to travel and preach, and we were constantly going from place to place, many doors were open, but God spoke to us, and we stopped and began a church in Limerick, it's the last city in all the world I would have started a church in, it is not the place I wanted to settle in, but we stopped, I knew it was the will of God, and we went back to raising up a brand new church, out of brand new converts, saved out of drugs, immorality, out of crime, out of new ageism, out of everything, we didn't have any other material, no one else would come near us, but we began to preach the word of God, and God began to build a brand new church, out of the worst, most impossible lies, atheists, evolutionists, criminals, one of our young men, who is preaching this morning in our church while we are away, just eight years ago, he actually was one of the main DJs in our city, and where we have our pulpit now, in our church building, is where he sold drugs, done as DJ, on that spot he used to sell drugs, and that was one of the main music houses in the city, all that generation knew it, you went there to get high on drugs, to dance to the world's music, to fornicate, and to do anything that you desired, but we've got the gospel being preached there, if you've closed the book and said, it's all over, since I know they are, and how late it is, I know we're at the end, but see if you use that as an excuse to sit back, and to say, oh well, no souls getting saved, no revival, and we'll just sit here until we get caught away, you're on very, very dangerous ground, because this last short hour of time, if you know it's the end, you're going to be held terribly responsible for what you do in this last hour, will you turn with me to Matthew chapter 25, my message here this afternoon, and you heard the man, I've got from now until midnight, I hope you brought your packed lunches, maybe some of you has brought a pillow, I don't know, a brother in England, he once said to his congregation, when I was coming to preach, he said, you need to bring a hard hat and a soft cushion, so make of that what you want here, but I do love Jesus Christ, saints of God, I love him with all of my heart, I love him, and if one thing I want you to know, I love the Lord Jesus Christ, and I believe this book, and I believe it's got an answer, for every single issue, in this room here right now, I believe that with all of my heart, my message, wise and foolish virgins, wise and foolish virgins, reading from Matthew 25, then shall the kingdom of heaven be likened unto ten virgins, which took their lamps and went forth to meet the bridegroom, and five of them were wise and five were foolish, they that were foolish took their lamps and took no oil with them, but the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps, a very important scripture, when the bridegroom tarried they all slumbered and slept, and at midnight there was a cry made, behold the bridegroom cometh, go ye out to meet him, then all those virgins arose and trimmed their lamps, and the foolish said unto the wise, give us of your oil, for our lamps are gone out, but the wise answered saying, not so, lest there be not enough for us and you, but go ye rather to them that sell and buy for yourselves, and while they went out to buy the bridegroom came, and they that were ready, they that were ready, did you see that, they that were ready went in with him to the marriage, and the door was shut, afterward came also the other virgin, said Lord, Lord open to us, but he answered and said, verily I say unto you, I know you not, watch therefore, for ye know not, neither the day nor the hour, wherein the Son of Man cometh. You pray with me here as we come to the word of God, Father we do thank you, we love you, we love the Lord Jesus Christ with all of our heart and all of our mind and with all of our body, we love you Lord Jesus and our hearts cry out as we see what is happening in this hour, in this crisis hour in our nation, this utterly unique, utterly unusual hour, what is happening right across the world, Lord God we cry out, come Lord Jesus, we are beginning to long for you more than at any other hour, we are seeing the signs of the times, we are seeing that everything is at the door, we are seeing that all of Bible prophecy is very quickly coming to pass, now Lord God we do want to be prepared, it's no accident, Lord God we do believe in your sovereign hand, working, guiding, leading, and I believe you've got the right people here for this message at this time, and Lord God you know the hearts in this room, will you search them, will you seek out in this room and Father prepare us and make us ready for this last hour, in Jesus name we love you our God, Amen, Amen. Wise and foolish virgins, it says in Matthew 22, just a few verses before, remember there's no chapter divides in our Bible, man put that in, Matthew 24 must never be separated from Matthew 25, my message is Matthew 25 but don't separate it from Matthew 24, if you do you don't understand this, you will miss the message, it is a continuing single message by Jesus Christ, it is the second longest message Jesus ever taught, the sermon on the mount was the longest, the second longest is found in Matthew 24 and 25, not two different chapters, not two different subjects, it is one subject, and Matthew 24 you cannot understand that unless you understand Matthew 24, it is a continuation, now look at this in Matthew 24 and verse 44, it says therefore be ye also ready, underlying the word therefore, it says therefore be ye also ready, what is it therefore, therefore, someone once said when you read therefore you need to say why is it therefore, there's a reason it's there, what goes before this word therefore in verse 44, you have all the biblical teaching of Jesus about the beginning of sorrows, the signs of the end, that Jesus is just about to come, of world events about to come down that we all know and believe, if you believe Bible prophecy literally, and he begins to teach this thoroughly in detail and then in verse 44 he says therefore be ye also ready, for in such an hour as ye think not, you know I've had people say I don't like how you make your preaching personal, that bothers me, but Jesus did, who do you think I'm talking to, for in such an hour as ye think not, the son of man cometh, so he teaches about all of these signs of the times that you're going to recognize, that is warnings that all of this is about to kick off, the beginning of sorrows means something initiates just before Jesus comes and it's going to become very rapid, very intensive and once it starts we're never going back to normal again, if you actually think we're going back to normal, you are either stupid, you're either deceived or you're hiding under your bed, there's one of those three things, but Jesus said therefore in the light of all these things and if he said it 2,000 years ago, you in this room, I tell you what a responsibility, therefore be ye also ready, if you really believe this, if you believe what Christ said, if you believe the signs of the times are breaking upon us in a phenomenal way and I want to tell you they are, they are breaking upon us, you know all the richest men, the top politicians, the British government, all the top companies, the central bankers, all of them, do you know what most of them believe, that by 2025, they're going to take the chip out of your mobile and what it is in your mobile phone, in your iPhone and it'll be in your body, it's going to hit the high street by 2025, I didn't say that, they are saying that, the world bankers are saying that, the top money men, all the businessmen are saying that and if you're not awake in this hour, there's something terribly wrong with you, see Jesus said, therefore be also ready, the word ready means adjusted, God isn't going to adjust to you, you see our churches in Britain and in Ireland are filled with people that say, I'm saved by grace, God's going to accommodate me, God is going to build himself around me, I am the centre of the local church, pastor you ought to be running after me, I want this church to accommodate my convictions and my sin, I'm speaking from personal experience, from a child, I've been in church a long time, from three days old, I think I've lived more, spent more time in meetings than any place on the face of the planet, I assure you and Jesus said, you need to be adjusted, therefore in the things, if you believe this, if you recognise this, you need to be adjusted, you need to bring about changes in your life, you need to be ready, you need to be prepared, you need to realise that you're to put yourself in a place and this is what the Greek word here actually means to be adjusted, it means you literally put yourself at the right hand of God, saying here I am, I'm usable, I'm not asking you to accommodate to me, I am accommodating myself to you, I'm going to listen your word, I'm going to change my lifestyle, I'm going to repent of sins, I'm going to move away from relationships that I've got no need being in, you see Jesus said, if you believe all this, therefore be ye ready and in this chapter he's dealing with a parable, Matthew 25 is a parable, what is a parable? A parable is an earthly story with a heavenly meaning, the word parable means to throw something alongside, to place it alongside, it means to bring a natural story, a normal story from everyday life, to bring it alongside biblical doctrine, you have the doctrine in Matthew 24, Jesus teaches very clearly about the signs of the time, it is doctrine, it is teaching, it is theology, although I like the word, the definition of theology is the teaching on how you walk with God, that's a good definition of theology, but here you have a natural story brought in beside doctrine teaching about the end days, what is the parable of the wise and the foolish virgins? It is a natural story, an earthly story, a story we can all identify with and Jesus brings it in to explain the doctrine, to compare with the doctrine, a story to illustrate the clear teaching and it's placed alongside so you can compare the biblical teaching with a parable, a story and so Jesus brings in a parable of the wise and the foolish virgins to explain to you the teaching and the time of the end, this has a specific time, Jesus said here's the doctrine of how you're going to know it's the end, you've reached the end, you're actually there, behold he comes, if ever you're going to adjust yourself it's now, if you don't adjust yourself now when are you going to adjust yourself? Oh I'm not going to get caught up in that system, I'll make sure to be ready on that day, when are you going to be ready? What an hour that we are living in, it is utterly remarkable, utterly remarkable and so this parable comes in to explain the teaching, why hasn't this been taught in our churches that make it so much easier? We begin to understand about the beginning of sorrows by this parable and this is my message, notice in the parable in Matthew 25 there's two groups in the church, look at verse 1, then shall the kingdom of heaven be likened unto ten virgins which took their lamps and went forth to meet the bridegroom, notice it is a parable, the wise and foolish virgins, he's likening the kingdom of God unto them and the context is last days, the last generation, the last church hour, the end when all the signs are being fulfilled, it's a parable about the kingdom of God is like wise and foolish virgins, notice that all that are in the kingdom of heaven, in that realm where Jesus should be reigning, they're not all born again, there's wise and there's foolish virgins, let me show you this, throughout the bible the parables Jesus taught, he talked about the wheat and the tares growing together, he's not talking about sinners in the world growing together with Christians, not talking about that, the wheat and tares was talking about those in the kingdom of God, all the parables were about those in the kingdom of God, in other words the wise and foolish virgins are all professing believers sitting in churches, they all know the gospel, they all know about Jesus Christ, they all claim to believe in this, the wheat and the tares when they grew together they looked the same, a tare which is a false weed looks the same as a real wheat, you can't tell them apart, I certainly couldn't in the middle east and as they grew you look and you say well they all look the real, they all look the same, they all profess the same, they're growing together in the same field and yet it says it's not until harvest time which is the end of the age that the angels actually say can we go and separate all this confusion, it's talking about the kingdom of God, what we see with our eye, remember Jesus talks about the sheep and goats, in the middle east they both look the same, I couldn't tell the difference between an Israeli goat and an Israeli sheep, I couldn't do it, thank God they look different in England but you know over there in the middle east when you look at them you say is that a goat or a sheep, that's why you had to bring them in under the rod, I tell you some pastors need to do that, get the and say this way, this way and begin to discern what is the sheep and what is the goat, we actually need to begin to see that, so Jesus deals with all these things, the four kinds of ground where the seed, the seed is the same, the sower is the same, four different types of ground and only one of them is real, three of them that receive the word of God are not real and Jesus constantly deals with the man that got in in the parable, the man that got in to the wedding feast without a garment, what are you doing sitting here, you've got no wedding garment and they passed him out, do you see all of this is a parable of the kingdom of God or of the kingdom of heaven of people on the earth in this hour and they all look the same and you go to revelation 17 in revelation 12, you have a woman who prophetically symbolically is Israel, you need to be able to identify her, then you go to revelation 17 and you've got the false church, you have an abomination, a woman who is promoting herself in the last hour and then you go a bit further to revelation 20 and 21 and then you've got a pure bride, the lamb's wife and so you see all of these things that Christ himself, he taught in parables but here you come to the wise and the foolish virgin, notice with me in Matthew 25 that there's a similarity between the wise and the foolish, one is going to be ready and adjusted, the other is in a terrible condition and they don't realize it and they're going to be in terrible trouble, but look at the similarity between them, they're all called virgins, the foolish are called virgins and the wise they are called virgins, what does it mean virgins? Well over in revelation 14 and 4, it talks about virgins prophetically and symbolically, they which follow the lamb, I believe all these virgins outwardly were those that followed the lamb, that's what defined them as being virgins, outwardly they are moral, outwardly they go to church, outwardly they seem pure, they're not living like sinners, they're not evolutionists, they're not agnostics, they're sitting in church and they say I follow the lamb of God, I'm a virgin, I come out of the world, I separate, I'm not getting high on drugs, I'm not getting drunk on a Saturday night in a pub, I have to be okay, after all I'm sitting on church on a Sunday morning, I follow the lamb, I am a virgin, I'll be okay, what else about these? They're in close association with the real, the foolish virgins are in close fellowship with the wise virgins, who do they fellowship with? The real, who do they sit with? The real, they love to be with real Christians, they are members outwardly of real churches, notice well they're not only virgins, they all had lamps, the foolish have lamps, in verse 1 it says they took their lamps, it means to take a hold of or to seize or to grab with both hands, the Greek word is lampos, they took their lamp, it means to beam or to radiate or to be seen in this world, so the foolish and the wise, they're not only virgins, they all have lamps that they carry in their hand and in that day what it's talking about is like a hollow, I'm sure you've seen it in pictures, a hollow cup or saucer like a milk jug and the oil is poured in there and it has a wick and you burn the oil in that little lamp, all of them had a lamp and all of them had oil within that lamp, what does this speak about? What does the lamp represent? Because the foolish who are going to get shut out of the kingdom of God have it just like the wise virgins, you've got foolish virgins walking about with lamps, with oil in it and burning with fire, before Matthew 24, what is this lamp? It speaks about your outward testimony, your good works, your good words, your right message, you must be born again, I must be a Christian, I've told my friends at work you have to get born again, I believe this, I believe the Bible, I go to church, they call on the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, they may even be involved in evangelism, I believe foolish virgins in this are involved in evangelism, I believe they believe in charity, I believe they're involved in good works, social activity, multitudes in the church of our generation are caught up in the social gospel and yet they're foolish virgins, how dangerous, I believe there's preachers who are standing preaching in pulpits and their message is right and everyone thinks they're right and yet they're a foolish virgin because you are looking at the lamp, since why do you think God, Christ always taught about the real and the false, see in the church of our day we go, don't make people feel uncomfortable, I'm preaching what the Bible teaches, this is what, this is why we've got problems in our church, you go as soon as you feel convicted or you feel concerned or you get stirred, you go that's condemnation, we shouldn't be doing that, that's because we don't know the difference between condemnation and conviction, when the conviction comes it is the Holy Spirit, when the condemnation comes it's the devil, with convictions the Lord probes what is wrong and you know what he says here, this is what you do, there's a way through, there's always hope with conviction, with condemnation the devil says look and you're damned and there's no hope, so you need to understand we need real conviction again and because we don't preach this there's no real conviction, so they had lamps but they all went forth, the foolish virgins in this hour, the context of Matthew 24, in that hour, that last hour they were all going forth, foolish virgins in this hour in England, all over England there's foolish virgins going out saying Jesus is coming, oh no they represent sinners, no they don't, no they don't, it's people in the church, in the kingdom of God, who are with other genuine believers and so they all go forth to meet the bridegroom, they know about the bridegroom, they believe in the Lord Jesus Christ, they believe in his death, they believe in all the right doctrines, they believe in salvation by grace, they believe in faith in Christ, they believe in blood atonement, look further they're all expecting the sudden return, the coming of the bridegroom, they believe this is the end day, the last day, but here's another terrible thing, it says they all slumber, do you see how similar they are here, they all have lamps, all going out, all expecting, they all slumber and sleep, everyone, not just the foolish, are we not there this hour where the real wise virgins, the real church of God is asleep in the nation, he says they all slumbered, that's a stage before sleeping, when you sleep you become utterly unconscious of what's going on around you, it is the stage before slumbering comes, leads you to sleep and the mark of the real and the false in the last hour in this parable and it's in the context of Matthew 24, keep it in context, when you get to the beginning of sorrows, even the real sleep, they begin to slumber, they begin to sleep, they begin to grow tired, you know why, because they waited so long, so many years, had such an expectation, now darkness is beginning to fall and the conditions make them sleep, that's the first thing, the two groups, their similarities, but notice as well, let me deal with the foolish virgins, the foolish virgins, it says here there were five foolish virgins, the word foolish used here means to be dull, stupid, heedless, when I meet someone who's born again, especially mature and they don't take heed of the word of God, I get very worried, Christ talked about virgins who are foolish, heedless, the word means to be blunt, to lose your edge, to lose your sharpness, the word also means to be thoughtless, you give no thought to these things, do you know what the Greek word is, it's moros, where we get moron from, it means to have a lack of grip on reality, so a lot of Christians in this nation say we'll get back to normal, there's lots of preachers in this nation and they're not preaching, we are in a crisis, what has happened in Britain, we've crossed the line, this is real, they're not even preaching it, do you know what to be a foolish virgin means, you have no grip on reality, you've lost your grip on reality, you say you believe all this but it doesn't fit in the reality, our world has changed, our nation has changed, our government, do you not see what has happened in this hour, I tell you those that trust the medical profession in this hour and the government in this hour and believe what's going on and believes the media, you are on such dangerous ground, a system in our nation that murders babies and you think you can trust it, I respect the government, I respect law, I abide by the regulations, the speed limit, I try my best, I've done well coming up that road but you know, so the word moros means you've lost a grip on reality, in Matthew chapter 5, 22, Jesus used the same word, he says, whosoever shall say thou fool shall be in danger of hell fire, so this word fool is a terrible word, it's like calling someone a moron, when I was a kid you didn't call anyone a moron, I'm tired, I would have got in trouble, you know what a Bainbridge lady's like, I would have been in serious trouble with my mummy if I called anyone a moron, Jesus said, if you call someone a fool, a moron, a moros, heedless, it is so bad, you are in danger of hell fire, this is such a bad word, you know a preacher once said, I don't like you calling people in the church goats, I said, do you think Jesus meant it as a compliment, no way, no way it's not a compliment, you know what this word fool means, you're apostate, you've gone almost beyond redemption, you're in a condition where it's so dangerous, you're in real, real trouble, like the man, remember the fool, it's the same word, the man who built this house of Ponsan, he is building a house, it looks the same as the wise man's house, he is building, he is putting the effort in, it looks the same but it's the foundation is wrong, everything is wrong with it, he was a fool, now let's look at these foolish virgins, first of all we see in verse 3, they took lamps but no oil, they took lamps with oil in the lamp but they didn't bring any oil with them, they thought the lamp was sufficient, there was no real thought about the oil, they were only thinking about now, I need oil now, I need a lamp now, I need to go forth now, they weren't thinking of the future, they weren't thinking of consequence, they didn't expect it, and what a terrible mistake they made, they took their lamps but no oil, yet it was the source of fire and light, they should have been thinking about this, you can't wait that time and prepare, you need to prepare now, if you're not adjusting now, what a terrible thing, what a big mistake you're making, the thought of the person, this person, this foolish virgin is prepared outwardly but not inwardly, they're prepared for now but not for the future, they're thinking of time in this life but not of eternity, all of it, they've only got a narrow perspective and they are the centre of their world, that's what it is, they're not thinking of the reality, they have outward oil and I'm going to explain this in a moment, you see I believe the wise virgins have inward oil as well as outward oil, the foolish virgins only have outward oil, you may not have heard this and yet this is what is taught here, the outward oil used for the outward life, remember the lamp is the testimony, that's your preaching, your evangelism, your good works, church attendance, and so that lamp can be burning with oil today, it's outward oil, it's not the inward life, they did not take oil with them but no inward life, how can you possibly have this, what does this look like in this iron generation, to have outward oil but no inward oil, you can have gifts, you can have service but not the character or the communion with Jesus Christ or the inward holiness of mind, do you notice the wise and foolish got to do with your mind, to be senseless is to be foolish, to be wise and we're going to look at it, is to have intelligence, so don't think that you're mine, oh spiritually I love Jesus in my heart, doesn't matter the condition of my mind, doesn't matter that I'm really prepared, well Jesus said it did, he really said it did, and so you have here, you have examples throughout the Bible of men and I'm sure women who had outward oil but no inward oil, you say how can you have the oil, remember the oil is a symbol of the Holy Spirit, isn't that right, so you can have a outward work of the Holy Spirit but no inward work of the Holy Spirit, you say prove it biblically, I'd love to, what about King Saul in the Old Testament, God chose him, he began humble, the Spirit of God came upon him, the real Holy Spirit, the real anointing, remember what he was doing when God found him, he's going looking for a bunch of lost donkeys, that's the height of his vision, that's the height of his calling, he's going looking for daddy's donkeys, he's wondering have you seen the donkeys, and then the Spirit of God comes upon him as Samuel prophesied and immediately rises up and he blows a trumpet and calls the entire nation to war against the enemy, what was that, that was outward oil in the lamp, that was the power of the Holy Spirit, that was the anointing of God upon a king, God anointed him to be king, God set him apart and gave him the gifting and the ability and the calling to be a king, that's outward oil, you know the story of Saul, the bitterness, the jealousy, the envy, how he grieved the Holy Spirit, how the Spirit of God would lift up off him, with inward oil that doesn't happen, and an evil spirit from the Lord came and tormented that man, he was a mess, 38 years he lived like that, he was anointed of the Holy Spirit, he had outward oil, he had a position, a title, he was there the king of Israel, 40 years he was king, 38 years, he was an absolute rebel against God, who then went to witches, that's a man who has the outward oil but not the inward oil, what about Balaam, you know all those beautiful prophecies that come to pass, Balaam the prophet, I once asked a friend, I said listen about this prophet, let me tell you, imagine if I explained this prophet is down in London, would you go and hear him, he's seen a real angel from the Lord come to him, he gets real prophecies from God, everything he's prophesied about Israel comes to pass, the Lord visits him and withholds him from sin, and I went on explaining this and I said would you go and hear a prophet like that, he says I would, and do you know what's more, he had a real genuine miracle no one else had, donkey spoke to him, Balaam, and I said, I said boy he sounds powerful, I said I've just described to you a false prophet, Peter in the New Testament said he was a false teacher, saints of God you need to be very careful what's going on in the church of our day, you can see a working of the Holy Spirit but there's something wrong, you can have outward oil, you could be dealing with foolish virgins and you go but this is real, but there's something missing, we see it with Judas, chosen, sent out to preach, to heal the sick, to cast out demons, to do the will of God, to carry the money back, that man had outward oil, there's no doubt about it, remarkable, extraordinary, so we need to realise Jesus is talking about the end of the age in the context of Matthew 24, and you've got the kingdom of God in this generation, and it is filled with a mixture of wise virgins and foolish virgins, and they all look the same, and they act the same, and they're all looking for the coming of Jesus, and they all have outward lamps, they all have the oil in that lamp in the ministry, I'm not so much interested if you have mighty gifting, or you can prophesy, or if you can preach with power, I don't judge a man by his preaching, I judge him by his marriage, I judge him by his character, I judge him by his fruit, 22 qualifications for a preacher and elder in the church, only one says apt to teach, the other 21 are about your lifestyle, do you know in the church go, have you heard this preacher yet, do you know I wish someone would come up to me on this trip and say, and say to Candice, Candice I want a word, what's he like alone in that house, it's never happened, boy you're getting questions, I'm talking about reality here, they used up their oil in outward performance for their own benefit and it was temporary, listen to me, it was an oil for outward ministry, they went I want the oil, I need the oil, I want to function with this lamp, this lamp is for outward ministry that everybody can see and they'll acknowledge, but it says in verse 5, while the bridegroom tarried they all slumbered instead, they would have looked good if there hadn't been a delay, do you know where we are now, we're in the delay, the church across Britain has been shocked because there's a delay, preachers and churches all over Britain are saying we're not going to be here for this, there is a delay and you know what, it's catching an awful lot of people out and an awful lot of people in church are getting very nervous in this hour, while the bridegroom tarried they slept, see for the wise it wasn't disastrous but for the foolish it is, this tarrying right now in the church of this hour, it's disastrous for people who've been playing games, who've been caught up in the outward ministry, I don't care if they're charismatic or evangelical or baptist, I don't care about those titles, I don't care what you call yourself, I want to know are you wise or foolish here tonight, that's what I really want to know, while the bridegroom tarried, the word means delayed, takes a long time, did not come on time, did not come as early as expected, he delayed until midnight, until it was cold and dark, until the time of the beginning of sorrows, I never thought I'd be here in this hour, what about you? Lord are you sure, this is not meant to happen to me, you're not meant to leave me here for this, I shouldn't be having to face all this, Lord this is getting very very close, do you see we're in a delay, it says in Matthew 25 13, watch therefore for you know not neither the day nor the hour wherein the son of man cometh, the word watch there, Jesus has given commands, do you think he was joking, this is the hour and he says watch, what does watch mean? Keep awake, be vigilant, stir yourselves up from sleep, do not let yourself sleep, oh sure brother we're all gonna sleep in slumber, I'll be okay, I'm a wise virgin, very dangerous, what you allow in that mind, in your thinking can destroy you, there's a lot of foolish virgins falling asleep, saying sure look at the rest of the church, I'll be okay, I'm just like them, I'm as good as them, it's gonna be to your destruction, in Matthew 24 48 and he gives another parable here, if that evil servant shall say in his heart, my Lord delayeth his coming, who the evil servant, he's a servant of the Lord but he's evil, oh I serve the Lord, I'm a servant of God, I'm a Christian, I'm born again but you're evil, you're evil in your words and your actions and your attitude and it says there he begins to say in his heart, my Lord delays his coming, he believes in the coming of the Lord but he says the Lord's delayed his coming and shall begin to smite his fellow servants and to eat and to drink with the drunken, well I'm not the drunken, I just drink with them, I just eat with them but I'm not a drunkard, I'm a born again Christian, it won't affect me, I can be with them and be like them and talk like them and I don't create any conviction at all and it says the Lord said that that's and the Lord of that servant shall come in a day when he looketh not for him and in an hour that he is not aware and shall cut him asunder and appoint him a portion with the hypocrites and there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth, verse 48 taught about the evil servant, he's worthless, he's bad, he's harmful, he's a contradiction, he is undesirable, the hypocrite, what is a hypocrite? An actor on the stage, you have the right look, the right words, movements, you know what to do, you know what to believe but it's an act, you don't take it home, it's not real in your life when you leave this place, what a terrible thing, he begins to smite his fellow servants with words, with attitudes, with actions, do you know being angry disqualifies a man from ministry, do you know that? Soon angry, all of us get soon angry at some point, all of us do but it's talking about a trait, a dominant trait of an angry man in a pulpit, do you know what? You're disqualified from ministry, I didn't write it, I didn't make it up, look at your bible, these things are as plain as day and yet we ignore them and the church is suffering, that's the foolish virgins but then we have the wise virgins, let's look at the wise virgins for a minute in verse 2, it says five of them were wise, verse 4 but the wise, verse 9 but the wise, now who are these wise in this parable? They are living in Matthew 24, when Matthew 24 begins you see some people believe Matthew 24 is for the Jews, it's not for us, it's for Israel, it's not for the church, it's not for the Gentiles, so Matthew 25 is for the church, nobody would disagree with that but not Matthew 24, the beginning of sorrows we won't be here for, really? So Jesus puts Matthew 24 and 25 together, I'm going to show you something in a second about this, who are these wise virgins? The word wise here means thoughtful, thoughtful, spiritual, oh we leave our brain at the door in our church, you ever go into a church and they say just set aside all your intellect, all your thinking and just move with what is happening, that's disaster, the Holy Spirit would never say that, the Holy Spirit says engage your mind, judge, test all things, how do I recognize a spiritual man in a church? He judges all things, he knows how to judge all things, he judges it with the word of God and he tells me don't judge, I get very worried, at best they've been wrongly taught, many sincere Christians say don't judge, don't judge, always say but Jesus said judge righteous, judgment, so here are the wise virgins living in the last hour, it means to be thoughtful or listen to this, the same word means to rein in or to curb in the thoughts, if you're a wise virgin here, see so far you're saying I sure hope I'm a wise virgin, I know I'm a wise virgin, well let's just define it here, a wise virgin, what are they doing in this hour? They're curbing in their thoughts, they're grabbing their thoughts, if you have a mind where your thoughts go everywhere and you don't pull them in, you don't challenge them, you don't fight against them, be very careful, it says here these wise virgins curb in their thoughts, they're careful and cautious about character, they take captive their thoughts, why? In order to protect their attitude, what thoughts dominate your brain, your mind? As a man thinketh so is he, what dominates your thinking is who you are, oh no I'm a wise virgin, I do everything right out here, no it's your mind, the wise virgin is defined by a wise mind that molds the character of the person, this word wise also means a type of wisdom relevant to practical action, implying good judgment, excellence of character and good habits, sometimes this word is referred to as practical virtue, I'm a wise virgin but it just doesn't get out there, we need to take great care, who were these wise virgins? I believe they had the fear of God within them, it's the mark of a genuine Christian, you know I was in the army for five years and I trained down in Dover in England and asked to meet a young girl, she was two years older than me, 18 and I'd thrown up restraint, put my Bible at the bottom of my bag and I went up, I want to be like the guys, I'm in the army, I come in with good convictions, loving Jesus but I want to go with the world, I want to enjoy the things of this world and I stood in Dover at the appointed place waiting on that young girl and I had sin on my mind, I'd thrown off, I wanted drink and I wanted the girls and as I stood there 18 years old, I'm a rebel against God, I'm shaking my fist at him and the Holy Spirit fell on me and as clear as in this thought come to me, if you do this thing you will regret it for the rest of your life and I physically stood on that street and trembled, I walked away and never met that girl, I didn't repent and get right with God at that time, I kept pursuing after the drink, I had more conviction and fear of God than most moral, nice, clean people sitting in churches, where is the fear of God today in our church? You see, why do I say they have the fear of God? It says in Proverbs 9 10, the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, how do you become a wise virgin? You have the fear of God, if you're a wise virgin, it means you are marked, that wisdom came out of the fear of God, reverence, respect, awesome awareness for God, when I meet a Christian who doesn't care what the Bible says, you've got no respect for God, you've got no fear of God, I tremble at the word of God, brother you need to get out of your bondage and come into grace, then you've thrown the Bible out and it means nothing, I want to be a wise virgin, look at the difference between the wise virgins and the foolish virgins, how are the wise virgins different than the foolish? In their actions, Matthew 25 verse 4, but the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps, do you see that? How were the wise different than the foolish? They took oil in their vessels with their lamps, all of them have lamps, all of them don't have vessels, all of them have outward ministry, outward action, outward words, only the wise carry a vessel with them, only the wise have a vessel filled with oil, all of them have a lamp filled with oil, all of them, that's not a sign of being a wise virgin, what did the wise do? They took oil in a vessel, again it means to seize, to grab, how do I know the wise virgins? They are grabbing a vessel of oil, the lamp outward ministry isn't enough, what you think of me isn't enough, I actually have to grab this other vessel, what is this other vessel of oil? It is inward oil, that's what it actually is, it's remarkable, you see they had oil in their vessels, stored up, provision for the future, provision for the coming of the Lord, for a delay, have you made preparation for the delay that the Bible teaches? Four parables Jesus gave in Matthew 24 and 5, each of those four parables, there's a delay of the coming of the Lord, do you think he's trying to tell us something? We are in the delay and you know what? Here are the wise virgin, they make preparation for the delay, the foolish virgins aren't ready for this time and so they brought a secret reserve, what is this vessel? It is a reservoir, it is a store, it is a personal hidden away store of oil, you see I believe that vessel represents those that are regenerate by the Spirit of God, you have the Holy Spirit of God dwelling in your temple, you are the vessel, that's what it teaches in 1 Corinthians 3, among Corinthians 6, know you not that we are the temple of the Holy Spirit, that you have the Holy Spirit living in you and dwelling in you, the Holy Ghost, the Spirit of God, this is the inward oil, this is the reservoir, it's not for ministry, it is for fellowship with the Lord Jesus Christ, it is not for yourself, it is for Christ alone, this is the distinction, the wise virgins are taking a vessel with their lamp, they've made preparation for the delay, they're making preparation for the future, they have inward oil, outward oil in the lamp, inward oil in the vessel, you better have both, you better have them both, again it says in chapter 24, 25, it speaks about the faithful and wise servant, one who is trustworthy, reliable, you can trust them, if you're in the church and you're unreliable, you better get ready, in chapter 25 and 10, they're ready, remember they that were ready, adjusted, prepared, they're standing at hand saying Lord I'm ready, I love you, it's not ministry, I've got a very high view of ministry, I really do, but this isn't about ministry, I don't care about ministry, brother I don't care how many are in your church, I do care about you, I do care about what you're preaching, it'd be better a man had five people in a church and preach the word of God, if he's got five thousand in his congregation and he's not preparing necessarily, he's in trouble, he's in trouble and I'm not going to have the blood of any soul in my hands, I have promised you, I want to be a wise virgin that is adjusted, it says that they did slumber and sleep, you can be a real Christian and you're asleep, what does it mean, you've been asleep to the signs, have you ever seen an hour like this, that there are government in Britain, the British government, the ministry of defense are now making public on the government website, you can go to it, the ministry of defense and saying here is our plan for Britain, we don't care about your morals or your ethics or your religion, we are going to put a brain chip in every citizen of Britain, it's public now, it's on their own website, they said this is our plan in the military and economy and in society in Britain, I'm not saying this, they are the British government and Canada have said it and the world politicians, it's transhumanism and I just know as soon as this comes, the church is going to be all awake, isn't it? I've been in church since a child and I've never seen the church in Britain and in Northern Ireland sleeping like I have now, it's extraordinary, I'm pulling my hair out and going where's the leaders, where's the pastors, what's wrong with the congregations, I don't understand it, do you know what I believe we have come to this hour that even the wise are slumbering and sleeping and I can't tell the difference between the wise and the foolish, I can't tell the difference, I'm going are they all foolish, it can't be, Jesus said the wise would sleep like the foolish, but I can't tell the difference, it's not until they wake up you can tell the difference, notice three things that happen, the delay, like I said, the delay happens, the midnight hour comes, verse 5, while the bridegroom tarried they all slumbered and slept, they were inactive, unaware, verse 6 and at midnight, what is the midnight hour? It's cold, they're all sleeping, do you know what the midnight hour is? Matthew 24, the signs of the times, the beginning of sorrows, when things begin to break upon the world in an extraordinary way, I mean an amazing way, Jesus gives 10 signs of the beginning of sorrows, it's the midnight hour, an hour of darkness, Jesus should have already come, we all thought that, everyone is sleeping, it is an hour of coldness, what are some of the signs? He said you will be hated of all nations, you the church, that wasn't so three years ago, three years ago I preached from that verse and I warned our church in Limerick and I said something's about to happen very soon, three years ago I preached it in detail and I said very shortly something's going to change in our world, I'm not talking about the tribulation, I'm talking about that time leading into last day bible fulfillment, just before it says you will be hated of all nations, that's not the tribulation, this is that people coming into that time and season, Jesus said you will be hated, you know what else he says? You will be offended, in the church you will be betrayed, the spirit of Judas is going to dominate the church, a brother betraying a brother, I would hate to be in Judas's feet, shoes and you know what? Anyone who has a spirit of betrayal in the church, I would hate to be you, you can betray me and I'm going to, it's good for me because I get sanctified and I'm going to love you, I pray for my enemies, I bless those that despitefully use me, I'll be fine, you could hurt me, you could steal things off me, you could close doors on me, you could do all manners of things but you can't ultimately harm me, but you're damaging yourself, betrayal in the church is a mark of this hour and it goes further, you'll be persecuted, oh no, not us, it's okay for the Chinese and the Sudanese Christians and it's okay in the Muslim nations but not in England or America, God would never allow us to be thrown in prison, poor John Bunyan, he was born in the wrong hour, you're not allowed to preach, I will put you in prison, behold the arm of God's right into prison with you, one of his children was born and died while he's in prison and he wrote Pilgrim's Progress and handed it out the window and he read it at night round the fire, what a book, what a dynamic book, if you haven't read it why not, all of you have it on your shelf and you don't read it, I'm sure that's what we do and John Bunyan, he was told if you promise not to preach we'll let you out, he said no thank you, I can't do that, I'm a preacher but this is the law, this is the law, I'm sorry but I've got to preach the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ, I've got to preach and so we see it is the midnight hour, do you know what happened at the midnight hour with a man called Peter, he denied Christ three times, a real Christian, it says in Matthew 24, the love of many will wax cold or grow cold, do you know what it means, a long cold blow, have you ever done it with your porridge, it's boiling hot and it's steaming you, you'll burn your tongue, you know what you do, you just go, that's the word, there is coming because, notice this, because iniquity abounds, there's always been iniquity but in the last hour it abounds, it explodes, it multiplies, it breaks the river banks, iniquity's always flown as a river but at the end it bursts its banks, homosexuality and no culture in world history was ever legalized, there's always been homosexuality, even great world leaders, never has homosexuality been legalized, not all the trans thing, now your children are being told you could be a little boy, do you know, I used to be scared of girls in school, do you like girls or boys, boys, oh then we know what you are, how stupid, how wicked, how evil, do you realize we are living in Matthew 24, all of these things but Lord, this isn't going to happen when we're here, I'm going to escape this, you would never allow this, Peter you're going to deny me thrice, you will deny me, I would never deny you, let it get dark, let iniquity abound because iniquity abounds, the love of many grows cold, do you know what the word love there means, it's agape, sinners don't have agape love, only Christians have agape love, it is a supernatural, supernatural love, that's what agape love is, it's not filial love there and Peter had agape love but it became filial love, do you agape me, I filial you Lord, Peter went through all of this, the darkness of night, the scattering of the saints, persecution, he was scared, a great man like that, Matthew 24 says you are going to face this, there's a midnight hour, it's going to get cold, iniquity is going to abound and because that many in the church are going to lose their agape love, what a thing, but notice this as I close, the awakening, the awakening happens in the context of Matthew 24, there's an awakening in this midnight hour, everyone is sleeping, look at the awakening, it says all heard the midnight cry, verse 5, while the bridegroom tarried they all slept, but at midnight there was a crying at the midnight point, at the darkest point where everyone is sleeping, there comes a cry, a midnight cry, what is it, behold the bridegroom cometh, oh we knew that, we all knew that, do you know what I believe in our churches and our nation and amongst Christians, we need to hear, we all believe in this room don't we, we all believe behold the bridegroom cometh, but what is wrong with us, there's a slumbering and there's a sleeping amongst the real, I mean the best of Christians, the best of churches, the best of preachers, sometimes I say it about myself, I go I love the Lord with all my heart and I believe this with all my heart, what is wrong with me, do you ever say that, I go God help me, really help me, I know they are, but the Lord brings a midnight cry, behold the bridegroom cometh, this is it, go out to meet him, I hope you're prepared for that hour, you better have done it by that point, it is a voice of preaching, maybe it's a voice of revival in this hour, at the midnight hour, the darkest hour, where many are sleeping and lost their first love, there's going to come a kind of preaching, a last revival, a midnight cry, the midnight cry is not the snatching up with the Lord, it's about to happen, but the midnight cry is an awakening amongst the wise and the foolish virgins, it's very real, in verse 7 it said all awoke, all those virgins arose, it means to collect your thoughts, stir yourself, to shake yourself out of sleep, I don't see it yet, I don't see it yet, where is the real virgins wakening up, Jesus said in the context of Matthew 24, there's going to be a midnight hour and at the midnight hour, you will be here at the midnight hour and there's going to come an awakening, there's going to come a preaching and a voice to stir everyone, do you think Jesus is coming for a sleeping church, can you tell the difference between the world and the church, God help us and in that wakening, what does it mean to waken up, it says then all trimmed their lamps, all of them wise and foolish, all responded, all began to move into action, the word there to trim your lamp means to put it in order, to adjust it, prepare it, rectify it, clean it, to prime it, to make it ready again to burn, there's many wise virgins, real Christians, they're not evangelising, who's calling us to new missions, planting new churches, invading new villages, oh no, it's all over brother, it's all over, let's just sit here tight, the Lord's coming, we're asleep, we're asleep, if stud could walk in this door tonight, he left his wife for eight years to go on to the mission field to labour for the souls of men, I'm sure she cried, men laid down, they're like Paul Hill, buried children in China and him and his wife got taken prisoner, I mean they're living at Holbury Hall down the road in great grandeur and they've got all this money because of their family members down and leaving them wealth and do you know what, you read about him and his wife, I think her name was Agnes and they got, as they evangelised new towns in China, they were taken by the authorities and they are beaten with poles and their two servants, the two local Chinese, begged them and said please beat us rather than Mrs Paul Hill, she was already beaten, when she got back to Bedford her health declined and she eventually died out in that house but she spent years on the mission field, now we say I'm just waiting for the Lord, I know you're coming Lord, I'll be okay, where is this awakening, rousing, trimming of the lamp to awaken us, what did the foolish doing that hour, they awoke as well, you're going to have lots of foolish Christians suddenly awake and saying this is it, this is it, but what a disaster when the foolish virgins awake it's too late, they didn't have any oil in the vessel, they've got no reserve, they didn't prepare for this hour, it was all outward ministry, it was all preaching, it was all gifting, it was all gifts of the Holy Spirit, it was tongues, it was prophecy but living immorally, do you know what they're going to get caught out and it says and the foolish said unto the wives give us some of your oil for our lamps are gone out, the word there means it is going out to quench, to extinguish, to put out, it's a present tense, it's just about to go out, our lamps, our outward ministry is just about to go out, poof, a lot of outward ministry stopped recently hasn't it, the big mega churches, Joel Austin, poor guy hasn't been in his church a long time, that 50,000 seater, my heart breaks for him, you better know I'm joking okay, these foolish virgins began to suddenly seek the oil, they had a value in something they didn't before, they valued what they had always previously despised, ignored, neglected, they looked to man, give me some of your oil, you have the anointing, you're in love with Jesus, you're ready to meet the Lord, we realize this delay, this midnight revealed to us we're in trouble and they looked to man, give us some of your oil, you see it's man dominated, we look for the anointing in other people, they didn't go to the Lord, they didn't go to where they ought to be going and so they began to look to man to get oil but what did the wise say unto him, you need to go back, we paid a price for this, saying to God I paid a price for the anointing of God, I paid a price to walk with God, I paid a price to walk free of sin, I paid a price to walk according to the truth of scripture, it was very costly and you're going to have a mass of foolish virgins saying can I have your oil, you need to go buy and it says as they went to go buy to pay the price, see at this time I believe sinners are coming in, they didn't play with this, it's the foolish virgins and as the foolish virgins are going looking for oil, sinners are going to be saying I want the Lord Jesus Christ, I was an atheist, a new ager, I was an immoral man, we built a church out of it, paid a price, prepared before the crisis, they knew who to go to, they knew when to go there and they were ready and while the foolish virgins went to buy, the bridegroom came and they that were ready went in with him to the marriage and the door was shut and the foolish virgins come afterwards and what did they say, Lord, Lord open unto us, what did Jesus say, I don't know you, I never at any time or in any way ever knew you, we preached in your name, we cast out demons in your name, we broke bread around the Lord's table, we loved the teaching of scripture, says I don't even know who you are, I never knew you or had intimate inward fellowship with you, you were a foolish virgin, you had so much to deceive you that you're ready but you didn't have enough that I would accept you as the real. Saints of God, where are we in this last hour, we are in the delay, we are at the midnight hour and things are engulfing our nations, this isn't a joke, we are literally living and you know what, can I tell you something, it's going to get worse and it's going to get further and it's going to intensify and you're going to be shocked by the things that happen in the next year or the next year and a half, you are going to be shocked but now is the time to be adjusted, to change, to make yourself ready. Please stand, don't stand if you're not able but let's just please stand as we close this service. Lord Jesus, Lord Jesus, we praise you, we worship you, oh let's just love him, let's just worship him, let the real Holy Spirit of God search us, whereas he came not to speak about himself but to speak about the Lord Jesus Christ, the Holy Spirit is here to prepare the bride, to make the bride ready, that is the real Holy Spirit, it's not all these gimmicks, not all these games, not all of this hypocrisy of Christianity, the real Holy Spirit is here to save you, if you're here and you're not born again, not ready to meet the Lord Jesus, it is time to be born again, now is the hour, a day may come when you can't even respond, you may not want to respond but if you're here being convicted, I believe you're in the right place at the right time and God has you here, I'm not into praying a sinner's prayer, you're gonna go alone and repent and cry out to God and you're gonna seek him with all your heart, like John Bunyan did, we need real converts in this hour and I promise you the real Holy Spirit will change your heart, there is a born again experience that radically changes your life, it is so real by the blood of Jesus, if you've been a foolish virgin and you know what's sitting here, I want to warn you, you better run from the wrath to come, you better flee the wrath that is fast coming in this world, it's on the horizon, it is coming but church of God, could it be that we are right on the edge of an unparalleled awakening, the last revival, the last revival and I could prove it biblically to you, if you give me two hours, I could prove it that the Bible speaks about revival coming in an hour of darkness at the end, unparalleled, quickly, suddenly, briefly, this world of eight billion people is about to come under the wrath and judgment of God but you know what, he wants to save souls, in the past year and a half I'm getting emails constantly from new agers who were hard against God, atheists who hated Christ, evolutionists who didn't believe in a creator, all in that last year and a half and they're pressing into the kingdom of God, they're awake and I'm looking at the pastors and the churches and they're fast asleep, I'm telling you we are at a vital, vital hour, it is the end, as we close this gathering since I know we're from different churches and I don't want to stand on any feet, I want to pray for one lady, one lady's just asked for prayer here and if you don't mind pastor, I'd just really love to pray for her and if you need the touch of God, just where you are, as I pray for our sister, just lift your hands, just for a moment where you are, saints of God this is real, we may never be back together all in the same place quite like this again, I don't know, but you are here now and I'm preaching now and it's an important hour, if you need prayer you could just come forward very quickly, very simply and we'll pray for you, but I want to pray just for our sister and you watching online as well, seek the Lord while he may be found, now is the hour of salvation in Jesus' name.
