Welcome to In the Word with Milton Green, with your host, Tommy Williams. Hi, I'm Tommy Williams, and I want you to stay with us for this next hour as God opens up his precious word to us through his servant, Milton Green. Milton Green is proclaiming a message of righteousness and holiness to the church today, calling the church to repentance.
The author of The Cross and the Switchblade, David Wilkerson, has said that every true believer, every God-hungry minister in this nation needs to hear what Milton Green is saying. You'll see that this is a powerfully searing and searching message, yet healing and uplifting. It will be good news to those who desire to walk with the Lord Jesus Christ with a pure heart.
Now, let's get our Bibles and get in the word with Milton Green, just as it was recorded live at a recent In the Word meeting. We'll join Brother Milton Green, already in progress. On the first night that when George Hahn, a friend of mine from Louisville and I got to this place, a meeting, we were a day late, and the meeting was already going that night.
And I shared my testimony, and that was all there was left, and I had an interpreter, and that was something kind of new and different, and I sat down and I wondered what I was going to do the rest of the time. But after I sat down, and George was sharing there, this Anglican pastor leaned over, and he said, Brother Green, will you pray for rain? Now, he had to say that about four times before I could understand what he was saying. And of course, I got a little used to the accent after I'd been there a while, but you know, all I had in my testimony, here this man is asking me to pray for rain, he said it hasn't rained in four years.
I didn't say four days or four weeks or four months, I mean in four years. And I learned something about the Spirit of God that night, because the Lord just moved on to me to do something I wouldn't normally do. I told him I would.
So, I got up there, and they had an interpreter for me, and just in an awkward way, as a little carpet cleaner might love Jesus would do, I just asked them to lift their hands up. I'd been free ever since I'd known Jesus. And so, we just lifted up our hands, and there were just hundreds of people out there sitting on the ground.
And we had a crude speaker system out in the front of this small church. And so, I had a couple of scriptures, and we used them, and we prayed for it. And I started to turn and get back down, sit back down, and then I remembered, and the Lord just impressed me, you know, just thanking for the rain.
Now folks, it hadn't rained in four years. And he'd already told me, the devil already told me, if it doesn't rain, they'll not listen to other things you say here. But then I was impressed to come back, and we just lifted our hands back up.
You could just touch a star. It's just hot and tropical in the southern part of India, and no clouds. And I asked them just to lift their hands back up, and let's thank the Lord for the rain.
Now see, I didn't do that because there's anything unusual about me. It's just that the Spirit of God, folks, when you just really, you just, you know, it's when you're obsessed with Jesus and just want to, He'll just move on you to do things you just won't normally do. That ended the service.
And they had a little school room for George and I to stay in with some little bunks, hang over about that far. But I was so tired, jet lag and so forth, and boy, I could have leaned up against a wall and gone to sleep. And I can't tell you what was in my heart.
I wanted that rain. I just loved those people. And they just had such an innocence about them and such a trust.
And I'd just seen such poverty hurting people. And I knew their problem wasn't food or shelter. Their problem was a spiritual problem, just like it is here, kind of a different way.
I'd say, God, if you want me to pray, make me wide awake when I lay down on this bench or bunk or whatever. And George is already asleep. And I laid down and my eyes just wide open.
I'm not telling you this story to point anything toward me. I want you to understand I'm telling this because of someone that's sitting here and because I've shared it before. So I just couldn't get up.
I was so tired. And we'd just been traveling all over and had delays and so forth. I got on the side of the bunk.
And I just began weeping and crying. And just asking the Lord what was already put in my heart. It was a tile roof, places you could just see through it.
It was just a short time after we got in the room there that I heard a noise. And I just lifted up my head and thought it was the wind. And it was pouring rain.
And it just rained and rained. And I woke up old George. And we just had a fit together.
The people who live there began, they put things around their house, you know, every kind of utensil that would hold water. I didn't say four months. I said four years.
Four years. Don't you just think. Can you imagine what that place looked like? It was about three days later that this Pastor Phillip's wife, who had just really kind of withdrawn and everything, but she just kind of sneaked up close enough and said, enough rain.
So I knew the Lord had healed me. It's all right for me to talk about what the Lord did, isn't it? Okay. I knew the Lord had healed me.
And I became very interested in what the Bible had to say about healing. You can. All you have to do is just be dying and you'll just, you'll start being real interested in healing scripture.
And I knew where a few of them were. And you know, I got to thinking about all the deformed and hurting. I'm telling you, what is so... And their faces, oh, my goodness.
Just precious, precious people. And I told George, I said, George, you know, we got the rain. That's what I was thinking, we got the rain.
I said, George, I believe the Lord wants us to pray for the sick. And immediately, that quick, George put his finger right up on my nose, said, Milt, don't you start that stuff. God don't want to heal everybody.
Well, the only reason I said it, it was in my heart. I didn't really know how to do it. I just knew it was in there.
And so I didn't want to, you know, come halfway around the world and battle my buddies, so I just kind of dropped it. But here's the real interesting thing about the next night. I had shared something.
They thought I was a preacher. I think I read 1 John to them that night. And I came and sat down, and George, you know, kind of anything, he has a lot more seniority than I did.
He'd been a Christian about a year longer than I had, see. So he kind of closed things out. And here this Anglican pastor leaned over to me again, and he said, Brother Green, I'm understanding him a little better now.
He said, well, you pray for the sick. I didn't have any idea what he was talking about. I had no idea how he was going to do that.
I really honestly before him, I'm telling you the truth, but I knew I was just consumed with it. Now, I'd pray for some around the house, and I'd watch them do this on television. So I kind of got tickled when he said them.
I said it, didn't I? I said, oh, George, he's up there still sharing with the interpreters and so forth. And I could just see his finger in my face and hear the Lord. It just worked all this out.
And I knew it was the Lord. There wasn't anything being smart about it. Boy, I just, man, I just, boy, it was a compulsion to me.
I just wanted to do it. And that wasn't a normal thing for me to want to do. But anyway, after the service was over, he got up and announced in Indian, and he told all of those, see, those services, the last 10, 30, 11 for it, you know, and he was telling everyone it wasn't going to be prayed for or to be healed, to go ahead and leave.
And the rest, they'd come inside the church. See, we'd been meeting outside. There wasn't enough room.
They were just hundreds of people that were sitting on the ground and so forth. So the people began to go in the church, and I just turned and began walking to go in the church too. And George kind of called up to me.
I knew he would. And he said, you know, we're going in there. I said, Lord, the Lord wants us to pray for the sick, George.
And George didn't say anything, and I, you know, just kind of kept walking. I thought he was with me, and I got up front up there, and I thought George and I, but he's way in the back there. He's real standoffish, you know.
And, but it was in my heart, and I shared Scripture because I knew that any, I already knew in my heart I didn't want any people's eyes on me. I wanted them on the Lord Jesus Christ because I knew I had, you don't have a whole lot of seniority to know when the Lord's put something in your heart. And I didn't do this like people normally, or I watch people do it and everything, because the women would sit on one side and the men on the other on straw mats, such hurting, hurting people.
It broke your heart. It absolutely broke your heart. And I just started down the front row, and there was about three or four people under such conviction of God, it's such a supernatural thing because, you know, there's some people who received Jesus, and there's some, I mean, received Jesus, and this is what this was.
They were little babies, just little hungry, precious, and, you know, mothers. I can just see their faces, you know, they're just so hurt, and it's just so, you know, hopeless and beat. And I can just remember seeing their faces, and, you know, I never experienced this before, but I just didn't.
Just a simple, you know, simple way just to lay hands on their head, just on the front row right there, just starting with the front row. The church was full and just, and fevered, and their head would just feel like a hot plate, and it just turned cool right under my hand as I began praying and everything. We came on down there a little further.
There was a little baby with a, and I've shared this. I wouldn't normally share this, but I'm going to tell you why I'm sharing this particular time. There was a little baby with a little deformed leg.
Little belly was swollen. His mother just, and see, I didn't understand all that. Like, I can look back now and see a lot more than I could see right then, but the little baby's leg was not only deformed, but it was much shorter than the other leg, one of them, and the legs were actually smaller than normal size.
And I wasn't making any big scene about it. It was just a quiet thing, just moving from one to another in the presence of the Lord was there, and as I was holding those little baby's hands and my legs and my hand there, this one deformed leg began just straightening out right there. And it began straightening out, and not only did it straighten out, it grew out in my hand.
As that thing began, the little leg began growing out, I said, George, and George said, I'm right behind you, Milt, I see it. Now that makes a good story, but I'm telling you the truth. And I'm telling you, and I've kind of noticed the silence, you know, a lot of times when I've shared that story before, but we just went back to India, about 27 men, went over and got to share with about a thousand native evangelists and pastors, and the man, the school teacher in India who was my interpreter, oh, I just loved him, and you know, we walk in the airport, holding hands, holding hands, brought him back, brought him back with us, this time.
And he was the interpreter that was interpreting there when the little baby's leg grew out, and to watch paralyzed people, you know, and all of a sudden you're praying for them, you know, finally just praise to many people that you don't even close your eyes and just see the arms just fly up in the air. Everyone didn't get healed. But I saw him down there, just now, and someone had to go buy him a coat.
He don't have air conditioner over, and it's been destroying him here and there, but where he goes, they're freezing him to death. So my mind, won't you stand up, Justice? Thank you. Thank you.
Have I ever seen a gift of love in a man? You know, we were going to a place to pray in a village, just he and I, we kind of finally came to a little place to stay, and it had two little beds in it, you know, and everything, and in the dark, we were so tired, we'd been traveling, and the most unusual thing, here come a hand over us, laying in bed, and we were holding hands, you know. Isn't that precious? Isn't that something? Boy, I tell you what, I learned a bunch. Well, good to have you, brother.
Turn to Galatians 5, please. I receive that, I've been graced with it all, in Jesus' name. Praise the Lord.
Galatians 5. Thank you, Jesus. Galatians 5. Oh, I don't want to start, let me ask you something. Are you beginning to see the ministry of the powers of darkness too? Amen? Okay.
Now, we want to pursue this. Galatians 5, verse 13. For you were called to freedom, brethren, only do not turn your freedom into an opportunity for the flesh, but through love, serve one another.
Now, you see, we can be in the Spirit and the Lord can put us in a position. I quite often, you know, particularly when the Lord first used me to tell you how great and how smart you are and how good you are when the Lord used you or something. And he's always telling you how to take advantage and make an opportunity for the flesh, make a name for yourself.
Have some, well, you know what I'm telling you. These things just flood your mind. If devil can't, if these demons can't prevent something, they pervert it.
They pervert it. Now, in verse 15. But if you bite, now this is what you're doing when you're in the flesh.
But if you bite and devour one another, take care lest you be consumed by one another. That's been a way of life. Verse 16.
But I say walk by the Spirit and you're not going to carry out the what. You think the Lord's trying to tell you something? If you're led by the Spirit of God, you're not going to carry out the desires of flesh and you are not supposed to carry out the desires of flesh. And when you carry out the desires of flesh, you've got a war against your soul.
Now, verse 17. For the flesh sets its desire against the Spirit. Now, see, the flesh is in agreement with the devil.
Is that correct? Satan. And the Spirit against the flesh. Now, the Spirit's in agreement with God.
For these are in opposition to one another. Do you see that? Now, I want you to get ready with your big pencil so that you may not do the things you please. There's your desires of the flesh, your lust of the flesh.
Just write it out that verse. You may not do the things you please when you're walking after Jesus. I don't care who tells you that you can.
God says you can't. Now, in verse 18. But if you are led by the Spirit, there it is again, you're not under the law.
Now, I'm going to tell you what, folks. If you let yourself get under the law, you're in torment. You're in torment.
You're in torment. But if you're under grace, you're led by the Spirit of God, you're in peace. Now, it says if you're led by the Spirit, you're not under the law.
May I turn around and ask you this. If you're led by the flesh, are you under the law? Who's controlling your life then? Just being a church member causes you to be led by the Spirit of God? Does saying words cause you to be led by the Spirit of God? You decide. If Jesus is not Lord, it's a very simple thing.
Make Him Lord. Just make Him Lord. As Jeremiah says, if you fell down, get back up again.
If you need to repent, repent. Don't try to justify something that doesn't line up with the Word. Okay.
Now, we're going to look at the deeds of the flesh. As we look at these, I want you to totally forget about the powers of darkness. Just forget about you've ever heard about a demon while we look at the deeds of the flesh right here.
I want you to see what it says. Now, the deeds of the flesh, I want you to mark the deeds of the flesh are what? Evident. So, let me tell you another way to say this.
The fruit of the flesh is evident. That's what He's saying right there. The fruit of the flesh is evident.
You can tell what the fruit of the flesh is. Now, let me tell you something, folks. I want you to look at me just a minute.
The problem so many times when we read the Word, I'm going to tell you what a stronghold is. It's when you read the Bible, you want to fit it in some box. You've got it built back here.
If it won't fit in your box, you reject it. Are you hearing what I'm saying? Now, let's have our hearts open and our eyes open here because some of this won't fit in the boxes. Amen? Now, let me just put it another way.
This is a structure. You can kind of get tunnel vision if the only way you want to look at the Bible is through Pentecostal eyes. You can kind of get tunnel vision if the only way you want to look at it is through charismatic eyes.
You're going to get tunnel vision if the only way you want to look through Baptist eyes, through Methodist eyes. Now, let me tell you something, folks. Righteousness is looking at it through God's eyes.
All right? Now, let's kind of drop all our point of views except God's point of view. Will that be all right? Can you do that? If you can't, you may set free from it. It's a stronghold.
If something whispers to you up there and tell you, that won't fit, reject, kick it out. Now, I'm going to tell you something, folks, that'll set you free. Now, I'm going to tell you something.
When you leave here on Friday, you're not going to be my followers. And I'm going to tell you, I don't have one word for you except one thing. You better have your eyes on Jesus because he's moving fast today, and he's leading you in a way you've never been before.
You can always tell something when it's a move of God or a revival of God. I'm going to tell you how you can tell. It doesn't center around folks.
It doesn't center around somebody hadn't got it boxed up, calling it their works. No one's getting a glory. You hear me? Now, listen.
That little old trumpet sounding today, open your ears up and don't try to fit it in anything you've seen before because there's a whole bunch that the Lord wants to teach us. A lot. When everybody already knows it all, they're wise in their own eyes.
And when you get wise in your own eyes, you're proud. You don't even need God. God needs you.
You're a fool. God resists the proud and gives grace to the humble. I'm going to tell you something.
We're a need-afflicted people. And I've watched so much many hurting people, and I'm going to tell you something. Folks, what matters today is what God's is saying, not what folks are saying or what traditions are saying.
The only thing that matters. I'm telling you, he's so precious and so sweet. He wants us to love him.
He don't want us to be divided. And I'm not going to be the one that builds or tells how to build. I'll build up the body.
This is what this meeting is about, to build up the body of Christ. We're going to let Jesus build this next church. You know it.
We're going to let Jesus build the next church. Verse 19. The deeds of the flesh is evident.
Now, these are not good by the way. Which are immorality, cover of multitude of things. Immorality, impurity, sensuality that's being led by feelings.
Idolatry. Boy, it can be any number of things. Can I stop and tell you something? Jesus is not going to be one of your idols.
If you think Jesus is going to be one of your idols, you need to get saved. You don't know the Lord if you think he's one of your idols. You're deceived.
Idolatry, here's the deeds of the flesh. Now, I want you to understand that these things cover a multitude of things. Sorcery, enmities, strife is a deed of the flesh.
Look at that. Jealousy is a deed of the flesh. I hope you mark that extra good.
Outburst of anger is a deed of the flesh. Disputes are the deeds of the flesh. Dissensions are the deeds of the flesh.
Factions. Boy, ain't a lot of factions. Folks, we learn how to fit together now, don't you know it? The Lord's teaching us how to fit together.
All this thing that the devil has us so divided and opposed like a bunch of high school football teams. Here's a red, blue, black, and white, and opposing and speaking and murdering one another. We're programmed to hate one another.
Somebody said, well, Brother Green, we haven't been taught to hate somebody. I said, if you don't hate them, if you don't love them, what do you call it? The body of Christ loves one another. We love one another.
Our ambition is to please the Lord. I want you to be a success in Jesus. And the only way you'll be a success in Jesus is for us to get in on what Jesus is doing.
Now, are you seeing these needs of the flesh? Let's look at some more. Envying. There's envy and jealousy.
Do you see that? Drunkenness, carousing, and things. I want you to mark that like these. There are dozens and dozens, and these are just headings and captions for a multitude of things.
Now, watch very closely. He's got something else to say here. Of which I want forewarn you.
Now, when God warns us about something, do you think we ought to just say ho-hum? No, he's got a warning right here. Now, if you run into anything you don't like, just take your little scissors out and just cut it out right here. I forewarn you that those who practice such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.
Is that plain? Plain? Put that on your refrigerator. Well, that's a pretty interesting thing right there. Hath God really said? Yeah, we just read it there.
Didn't we? In your Bible. That Bible right in front of you. You just saw it.
all right, now there is the fruit of the flesh. It's already in every person's flesh. It's supposed to be dead and put to death.
Is that correct? Is that what we've read? Now, who do you think comes and stirs this thing up and makes it a way of life? Now you see why you take every thought, you know why you resist the devil. And when you don't resist these things in your life, are you seeing how the enemy brings a war against your soul? He gets ground. You get in agreement with the devil in your heart.
You forget about that stained glass keeping them out. It's a walk. You sit in the front view.
You can preach. I don't care where you are. I mean, it's a walk with Jesus.
God's protection and hedge are weapons for people who walk with Him. It's an overcoming life. Now, but in verse 22 we see the opposite there.
The fruit of the Spirit, we see the opposite of the fruit of the flesh is the fruit of the Spirit. We can see, look here, I can see what kind of seed you're receiving in your heart there when I see what kind of fruit you have. I can see where you're coming from.
But the fruit of the Spirit is what? Now, this only comes from God and it only comes in walking in covenant with God. You don't get the fruit of God. Hey, listen, are you branches? Do you ever see a branch, look at me, get out by itself and bear fruit? No, it's going to have the vine, isn't it? I'm going to tell you something.
You will only have fruit in your life when you start putting this to death and you acting and walking in the Word of God, covenant. That's the only way. Okay, now, but the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience.
Boy, that's good, isn't it? Kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. Now, here it says it again. Against such things there is no law.
Now, the walk of the Spirit is the walk of the image and likeness of God. You understand that? Do you understand that this covenant was made, that Jesus Christ came as an example and He walked and you made covenant in Him and the power of the cross and the grace of God and the power of the Lord Jesus Christ puts to death the flesh. We just reckon it, so walk in it and get in on it.
Right? And rest in it. Now, here's a very, very important. Let me ask you something.
Do you belong to the Lord Jesus Christ? All right, here's a verse for you. Verse 24. Now, those who belong to Christ Jesus.
Now, here's what if you belong to Christ Jesus, here's what you've done. You've crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. Now, later on, if we can get into it, I want to show you the Church of Babylon.
The Church of Babylon leads people by the flesh. Incidentally, let me tell you what the Church of Babylon is. You know, I've been programmed to think it's a Catholic church.
If you're always looking over somewhere else, you're not looking you know, somebody waiting for the World Church to start and they're sitting in it. See, the world has moved into the church, folks. Don't be offended by it.
It's your flesh. Psalm 119, 165 says, Great peace, how they that love thy word and nothing shall offend them. Now, if you belong to Christ Jesus, you've crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.
If you're in Babylon, you teach. You lead people after passions and desires. It's the opposite.
What are we going to look at, Babylon? I hope. Now, 25. If we live by the Spirit, let us also what? Well, are you seeing, folks? You see that big word walk? If you're led by the Spirit, it's going to show up.
Now, look at me. Look at me. I come here and I make a decision and my walk shows whether I'm a disciple or not.
You know what? I get over here. If I wonder what kind of decision I made, look what's behind me. What kind of fruit have I been bearing? Let them see what I'm controlled by.
Well, somebody might say, well, trust your decision. Don't trust it if it didn't make Jesus Christ Lord. Repent.
Come back over here. Make Jesus Christ Lord. Immediately make Him Master.
And you're controlled by the Spirit of God and then it says right here, what does it say right here? If you live by the Spirit, let us what? You're going to walk by the Spirit. Is that right? You walk by the Spirit of God. That's where you're walking.
And you're living an overcoming life. Now, that doesn't mean that there might not be some sin, a single sin, but you're not going to stay in it. You're going to get whipped out of it.
If you're not chastised by Him, if you're not whipped out of it, you're a bastard. You're a harlot. Now, I want you to watch this next verse.
Let us not become what? Let's don't never, we'd never boast about our works, would we? Our nickels, noses, and numbers or anything like that, would we? We wouldn't boast about, you know, we go into the boastful pride of life, that's the world and the church. Challenging one another wouldn't speak against someone else because envying one another, no, wouldn't do that. Now, see, here's the way all of us are.
In verse, when you go to 6, verse 1, If a man is caught in any trespass, you who are a spiritual restorer of such a one in the spirit of gentleness. Wouldn't it be something if we want to act that way instead of challenging one another, saying these things, murder? Hey, stole him to death. Kill him.
Well, wonder where that's coming from. I want you to look with me in verse 7. Well, let me, verse 3 is pretty good while we're there. For if anyone thinks he's something when he's nothing, he deceives himself.
Verse 7, Do not be what? May I ask you something? If God says do not be deceived, is it a possibility you could be deceived? You're not too smart that you couldn't be deceived. Is that right? There just might be something you don't know. Is that correct? Okay, let's see what it is.
We just received this now, Lord, in Jesus' name. Do not be deceived. God is not what? He's not mocked.
I mean, you don't get by with it. For whatever a man sows, this he will also what? Now, let me show you how that works. God's not mocked.
You see, when your motives of your heart and your heart gets in agreement with the devil and the lust of the flesh right there, I already told you it opens up a war against your soul, your mind, will, and emotions, right? So when you want to sow and you want to let your heart live that way and everything, you've got a war. God's not mocked, but what you're sowing, you're reaping. Are you seeing it? Huh? Let me say that again.
Did we read over in 1 Peter, to abstain from fleshly lusts at wars against your soul. Is that right? All right, now, when you go ahead and you let your heart go to the lust of the flesh, like I was talking to unforgiveness toward Bob or, you know, probably these things like that. Now, look what I'm doing.
I'm letting my heart turn from the Lord and the Spirit, being led by the Spirit, and I'm letting my heart turn toward the lust of the flesh. Isn't that right? So when I do that, I'm sowing to the flesh. Is that right? So when I'm sowing to the flesh, God said, you're going to reap because he's not mocked.
And the fact that you reap is that in that area, the hedge comes down and the enemy can come in on you and he wars against your mind, will, and emotions. Now, do you see that? Maybe shake your head. All right.
Now, in verse 8, for the one who sows to his own flesh, that's the way he's living, shall from the flesh reap what? Now, do you remember what we read in 2 Peter 1? That through the Word, and walking in the Word, and through these promises, we have a new walk. We're not walking after the lust of the flesh, but we've got a new nature. You ever see them say, well, that's just my nature.
I can do anything. It's all right for me to act like a devil. No, you have a new nature.
Through these promises, you have a divine nature and you escape the corruption of this world by lust, because the people that's in the lust of the world are puppets. They're under control of the powers of darkness. The only way you get freed from the powers of darkness and their control over you is to die of the lust of the flesh.
Is that strong? Now, that's the only way you can be out. Now, I don't care where it's front row, back row, platform. I'm telling you, you just fall after it, and the fleshly sin strikes back at God's right to control your life, and it's an open door for the powers of darkness.
They can work in any area that you refuse. Now, the Lord puts a hedge around you and everything, as long as you live an overcoming life, and you overcome these things as the Lord leads you to them. But when you become rebellious, and you won't overcome these areas in your life, then he'll just your rebellion towards God, he'll lift the hedge down, and he'll come and war against your mind, will, and emotions in that area where you won't overcome it.
Now, for the one who sows to his own flesh shall from the flesh reap corruption, verse 8, but the one who sows to his spirit. Sounds like here's the opposite, doesn't it? But the one who sows to the spirit shall from the spirit reap what? Sounds like eternal life's better than corruption, doesn't it? Well, let me just tell you something, folks. While we've been ignoring the powers of darkness, that's not what the scripture said, is it? But while we've been ignoring, they've perverted many, many things.
They've been perverting healing, deliverance, holiness. They've been perverting salvation. They've been perverting many things.
So what I suggest to you, you look back here and know from whom you've learned whatever you know what you know. Now, that shouldn't offend anybody if they're held together by truth, should it? I'm telling you, you better let this lead you in all truth. Jesus better be the one to lead you in all truth.
All right, now. But the one who sows through the Spirit shall from the Spirit reap eternal light, and let us not lose heart in doing good, for in due time we shall reap if we do not grow weary. Well, that's kind of plain, isn't it? Remember, don't you remember what we looked at in Romans 13? We put on the Lord Jesus Christ and we make no provision for the lust of the flesh.
When we're walking after let me ask you something. Do you think walking after the lust of the flesh is walking after sin? Shake your head. Let me try over here.
Do you think walking after the lust of the flesh is walking after sin? Absolutely. The lust of the flesh is sin, isn't it? Okay. See, we make no provision for the lust of the flesh, but we die to the lust of the flesh, and we receive a new provision that the Lord has made, that God has made through Jesus Christ.
That we, this provision leads us in the image and likeness of God, back to the image and likeness of God where we've been in the image and likeness of Satan. Do you follow me? Now, the sin of man today is refusing to accept this provision that God has made for us to get rid of the old sin nature. Are you hearing me? The sin of man today is to refuse the provision that God has made in Jesus Christ for us to get rid of the old sin nature.
Walking and talking like Satan. And when we reject in the walking covenant with the Lord Jesus Christ as Lord, that means that we choose to our... and enjoy walking and talking and acting like Satan. We choose to remain in the image and likeness of Satan.
Now, when a person chooses to remain in the image and likeness of Satan, what's in his heart? Where's his heart? That's where he chooses to remain. See, he finds his portion in this world living for his flesh, the carton, and that's the temporal things. And we're supposed to be... the process that the Lord has called us back in covenant is to bring us back in the image and likeness of God.
From the image and likeness of Satan, where Adam fell to, which is your nature, where you led, your heart goes, the lust of your flesh when you're born in this world. Now, this process, as you know, that Jesus came as the example to lead us, and we're to suffer He suffered, we'll walk as He walked, and He is an example of Him being Lord and us listening to Him. This is what He said, I mean when you become one with God, you don't come on your own terms.
God has a few conditions for you when you come to be one with Him. And so, this process of Jesus being Lord of your life, once again in Romans 8, 29, it's that you be conformed to the image of Jesus, which is the image and likeness of God, you'll be changed. Old things have passed away, you'll walk in newness of life.
Now, I want to ask you, how is anybody going to be conformed to the image and likeness of God that their heart goes after the lust of the flesh? That's where they live, that's where their heart is. How can I be transformed in the image and likeness of God if I'm not resisting the devil and dying to the flesh? Will you please tell me how that is? I want to ask you that again. How can I be conformed to the image of Jesus or the image of God if I'm not resisting the devil and dying to the flesh? I want to ask you something.
Who is it that hides truth from your minds? Who is it that hides truth? They're doing it all the time, every day, folks. There's plenty of them that go around, they're talking to you all the time. Now, when you understand this, see this, some of these things are a cultural shock.
But this is the way it is. And we're going to look at it right here. Now, you receive this if you see these things in a word.
Because there's a bunch more. See, we're just, I wish we get day one and two by. I'd like to get over in three and four and five.
I'll be glad we can do this for five days. Now, I'll tell you who it is that hides the truth from us, the ones we've been ignoring. The powers of darkness.
Now, you know we overcome by the blood of the Lamb, the word of our testimony. We love not our, that's the way you overcome them. Love not your flesh.
And anyone, Jesus said, anyone who wishes to come after me, that's in Mark 8. It's on your list there. You have to deny yourself, take up your cross. In other words, what it is, it's a walk of death.
And a walk of death, you suffer in it. But that's where the glory is. And when you resist temptations of the flesh, let me tell you something about the process, folks.
That's where the anointing grows on you. As you resist the flesh and temptations come on you, each time you do that, you get promoted. The Lord can trust you more and more, and He just lets more of His Spirit.
And I'm going to come to a place here, and I'm going to show you in a word right here. I'm going to share with you in a word right here while the power is not in the church today. Just plainly.
And I'm getting close to it right now. So we take up our cross, we deny ourself. What do you deny yourself? You deny your carton.
Live a life like your carton. You live for the heavenly. Let me ask you something.
What about this? In that same scripture there it says, whoever wishes, now look at me. Whoever wishes to save his life, or carton, is going to lose it. Isn't that interesting? But whoever loses his life, dies to this flesh, carton, is the one that's going to save it.
Let me ask you something. Is that what your Bible says? Did these things just get dropped in there to analyze and just reject what you don't like? Reject everything that comes against the flesh? When you reject everything that comes against the flesh, you're giving the powers of darkness come and go as they want to. That's where they're working at.
That's why you hadn't recognized and you'd been in agreement with them. You never know the devil talking to you because he's telling you how to take advantage of everything in this world for your flesh. That's why you don't recognize these thoughts up there.
They had to tell you how to take advantage of everything. That's a flesh walk. That's why the world out there deceived.
They like it. Flesh likes it. Because everything Satan is, the flesh is, the lust of the flesh is.
But see when they get, while they're listening, they've got a little secret thing that's happening to you. They're cutting you down. You're a tree of a field.
We're going to look and see if they're tree cutters later on. They're cutting your tree down. When you're listening to the powers of darkness, death is working in you.
It's death. Now folks, remember now, I think you just have to remember, I'm not saying these things because I'm starting something new. Okay? I'm saying what we're saying right here and getting this word is for you to have an understanding.
And when you have an understanding, I'm going to tell you what, you can walk away from here and you can say in the name of Jesus, you can know what you're talking about because of the word of God. Amen? And a lot of things on your kids and in your family and folks and around the hurting people and everything, you don't have to tell them to hang in there no more or pray that they'll die comfortably. I'm going to tell you something folks, God is open to rise.
I didn't have any problem telling you right there pulling these glasses up here. I could tell you some pretty good stories about, you know. But there's a lot of things I don't know.
I can only share with you what I know. I don't have to know everything. But let me tell you something, nobody else knows everything either.
I'm just a part. You're a part. I'm important.
I'm part of Jesus. Aren't you? See, Satan saw that he couldn't stop the church with persecution. That persecution just makes you stronger and closer.
So what he's now doing, he's been seducing the church to conform and be like the world which he already controls. You get like the world, he's got you. You get the world and the church.
So while the church through the past years has been ignoring Satan and the powers of darkness, the demons, Satan has been changing the gospel of grace into a social gospel. We start building houses besides building up this house. We look for other fruit besides the fruit of this house.
I want you to know this as a temple, folks. We start getting other fruit besides it. Now, Satan's perverted a lot of things.
Now, this is no reason why anybody should be defensive about it. If I can show you in the Word, why are you offended? What are you protecting? Why would you be upset about it, see? You shouldn't be offended. Wait and see if it lines up in the Word.
If it doesn't line up in the Word, you're supposed to correct me, aren't you? Why don't you write me a little note there and correct me and if I'm seeing I'm wrong and I'll sure get to it and just give it to God or whatever and everything, I repent. Because I'm telling you, before God, I'm not going to say anything exaggerated or anything to say what God said. Now, I've had a very good advantage over a lot of you and many of you have been where he is just seeing people set free all over the place and when you see people set free and they walk with Jesus and see them set free from the powers of darkness and you see that this is the way that they got in there.
It's a beautiful, wonderful thing because I'm going to tell you, you will not walk with Jesus until you're free from these compulsions of the flesh. Those things are just pulling levers on you. Now, by the way, this is good news.
It's not bad news. This is good news. I'm sharing with you good news.
This is good news for those that receive it. It's bad news for those that don't. Now, why did the Lord say keep yourself unspotted from the world? Now, he must have had a reason to do that.
Keep yourself unspotted from the world. We know in James 4, I won't turn there, but it said, What did the Lord say? Whoever is a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God. A friend of the world walks and talks like a world, doesn't he? Isn't that right? That's where the flesh wants to live.
This is on your notes there, 1 John 5, that all the power of this world lies in the hands of the evil one. In other words, Satan, all the power of this world lies in the hands of Satan and the powers of darkness. All the power of this world.
Is that plain? And we're going to see how. Do you recall in Luke 4 that Satan said, Luke 4, 5, Satan, I said, told Jesus when he's being tempted, I'll give you all the kingdoms of the world if you'll bow down and worship me. You get a little visit like that every day to get your heart to go after these things.
See, there are things in the world that you need. Automobiles and stone, wood, and everything. But you know what the powers of darkness try to do? To get your heart toward it.
See your heart. I'll explain it to you a little later. See, in other words, when Satan came to Jesus and told him he'd give him all the kingdoms of the world if he'd bow down and worship him, what Satan was doing, he claims rulership of the world and Jesus didn't dispute it with him.
He didn't dispute it. Now, I want to ask you something. How aware are you when you get up each morning? How aware are you that you live in the midst of an evil system controlled by God's enemies out there? Because that's just exactly what your Bible says.
It says if you're a friend of it, you're an enemy of God. Now, see, Satan uses the world system. He uses the world system against you to get your heart.
He uses the lust of the flesh to get a person to live for himself and be lord of his own life. That's why he talks to you, he gets you. Now, I think I'll just give, you know, I'll give you what to say.
I'll give one example about something that, how they come and talk to you, you know, read newspapers and so forth. Sometimes I share about this. I just want to share about it again.
Do you ever see anybody have car fever? Car fever. Gotta have it. All right, let me just share something.
Now, the reason I want to point this out to you, I'm just going to give you some examples of some little things in just your everyday walk in life that get you programmed and everything. How they just steal your heart right there and get you deceived and then when you, I'm telling you, a proud person is satisfied and a satisfied person don't need God. Proud folks, God needs them.
You hear me? Let me show you. Now, I see that red car. That red convertible.
That red piece of steel. And all of a sudden as I look my lust in my eyes here, it begins walking. I see that and then that, as I look at that red piece of steel, here these pictures come in my mind.
And it shows me, when I get near Sally, how she's going, how I'm going to look in that red piece of steel. And how I just go through town, how I get around the fence in different places. These pictures come and show me how I look, how I'm going to be something.
Somebody. When I get in that red piece of steel. And after these pictures, now they're talking to you.
Folks, I'm telling you the truth. In Jesus name, I'm talking to you. I'm telling you the truth.
And in little small things like that, they're getting your heart. And that is the lust of eyes. Because, see, you need an automobile to ride around with in this day and time.
And you can do it. You need them. But see, that automobile, that rusting piece of steel don't need to get your heart.
See how perverted it is? Because you're looking at that red the enemies were talking to and he's getting that piece, that red piece of steel and the pride of life to make this red piece of steel is going to take you through the world and make you somebody. Are you seeing? Proud. And so finally he just throws all those pictures and how good you're going to look and how you're going to be accepted and received by everybody when you get in that red piece of steel.
And then all of a sudden a little thought comes there. I've got to have that red piece of steel if I work three jobs. I mean, you've got to have it.
I mean, it's got you. And you go to, you got to wait till the next day. How can I wait till the next day? And all night you're just about to stay awake thinking about that red piece of steel and here comes those pictures you're knowing.
The demons are just bouncing off the wall. They're just laughing as they talk to you. And get you so lifted up in your boastful pride of life.
You go get that red piece of steel and you don't have much time to drive around. You have to work all the time. But you get a little old trip, pride trip, everything you know.
Every time you jump in it because that makes you somebody. You want nothing before you had that red piece of steel. And that red piece of steel is already rusting.
And then you decide, well, you know, I need to go kind of get me some clothes and so forth. So you get in your red piece of steel. You drive into the clothing store and you start to pull in here and something says, won't you pull over a little bit so they can see you a little better inside of you.
That's them. So you just kind of, kind of swerve around here and kind of pull over here where some folks can kind of see you a little better when you get out of your red piece of steel. You go on into the clothing store and you find you a coat.
And as you look at that coat, pictures start coming again. And they start seeing that how you're going to look and what a success you're going to be in that cotton. That cotton that's already rotten.
Rusting steel. Then something has got your heart. Right here.
And you try it on and you find a mirror and you go over and look at it and something up there tells you you've got the prettiest carton in town. There's nobody like you. You've been watching In The Word with Milton Grain sharing a portion of the teaching from a recent In The Word meeting.
