Randy Krahn teaches that true integrity and godly leadership stem from a humble, obedient heart that yields to God's will, overcoming pride, rebellion, and unbelief.
In this topical sermon, Randy Krahn explores what it means to be a man of integrity and truth by focusing on the condition of the heart. He emphasizes that God values humility, obedience, and faithfulness over outward qualifications or appearances. Using biblical examples like Saul and David, Randy illustrates how pride, rebellion, and unbelief are the roots of sin that must be addressed. He encourages believers to engage in fellowship and accountability to cultivate godly character and lead lives pleasing to God.

Lord grateful for today. This is a day you've made we choose to rejoice and be glad in it in Jesus name. Amen I was listening to a sermon yesterday.
I usually don't listen to too many sermons during the week But uh was really speaking to me and We need to have the holy spirit speak to us whether it be through the scriptures or whether it be through uh Some fellowship or a sermon or Whether it be from the holy spirit speaking to our conscience we need to hear from the lord Um Dan what you shared was uh was good And it's important for us to understand the things that are pleasing to god God is not looking for someone who's qualified God is looking for someone who is willing A lot of times as dan just shared about his workplace and why they chose him For a position was not because he was qualified but because in his life leading up to that point he was willing And that made him qualified it made him more qualified than the others who had the education You know when I hire an employee and I Look at their qualifications. We had sometimes resumes come and they're very extensive and very qualified But they can't work with people They're not able to solve problems They're very proud and they know everything They won't get their boots on and get dirty in the trench with the with the other workers And so you can't Work with someone like that And that's why jesus said if you want to be the greatest you have to become the least and servant of all And he gave them an example of how we should follow that we should Take the lowest place And lead by example You know Why don't we read a passage Let's start in hebrews 3 where dan left off You know the problem with the flesh and our sinful nature is that it's in opposition to the word of god Our will and god's will are in opposition naturally in opposition But we have to choose to yield our will to come in agreement with god's will it's a choice And if our will will not yield to the will of god then god has to discipline us And he does it because he knows it's necessary Now If you discipline a fool, even though you strike him a hundred times on his back his foolishness won't leave him If he doesn't yield his will So there's things in our life that we have to be careful of They are the root causes of sin This is what I was listening to this week the root causes of sin Are the issue of the heart And this is what god looks at You know, sometimes we look at a person we see the outward Oh, they're they're like a bull in a china shop where they're they're very aggressive where they're angry or this or that But you have to be able to look past the shell and see deeper Into what is the heart motive of why this person is responding the way they are? Is their motive and intent good In what they're trying to accomplish and why they're saying and doing the things they're doing And that's what god looks at He doesn't look at the way men see I shared not long ago when saul rejected the lord Because he did not obey what god asked him to do So He grabbed hold of samuel's robe and he tore the edge of his robe and Samuel turned to him and said today the kingdom of israel is torn from you saul And you're gonna receive he's gonna give it to someone your neighbor who's better than you Someone who's better than saul Because he said of saul that rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft when we decide We read something in the scripture and we find loopholes and we're not obedient as children just to simple obedience rebellion towards god's word towards authority in our life is witchcraft and Stubbornness being stubborn and rebellious Is like idol worship. That's a worship of self I'm gonna do it my way rebellion and stubbornness are the roots of sin And ultimately pride is another big huge root of sin And the third one is unbelief an evil heart of unbelief which we're going to read here Is a root of sin If we look in verse 7 where dan read and for the sake of repetition we'll read it again as the holy spirit says Hebrews 3 verse 7 today if you will hear his voice In other words hearing has to translate into believing which translates into obedience Hearing with the ear and not obeying is not hearing You know, sometimes I say, you know I hear you But you know, they have these t-shirts that say your lips are moving but all ears blah blah blah Because you have no intention of listening There's no intention of listening There's hearing with the ear but not hearing in the inner man There's no obedience intended So the scripture says as the holy spirit says today if you'll hear his voice That means listening to the spirit speak the word to us Don't harden your hearts As in the rebellion in the wilderness those having heard rebelled they decided you know We don't like what god says we want to do our own thing We want to do what we want to do And you know what rebellion is one of the root sins Of which fruit manifests anger manifests because of rebellion sexual sin manifests because of rebellion right You know Worldly living loving money covetousness greed all these things manifest because of rebellion pride rebellion through unbelief You know when we dig up a tree they a big tree will have big roots And when I start working at it with my excavator, you got to find those roots There's a lot of roots, but the biggest ones are what's holding that tree from coming out that stump from coming out And rather than focusing on the fruits of sin Let's focus on the roots of sin and get to the bottom of the matter and then the fruits Will become good because it says make a tree good and the fruit will be good For a tree is known By its fruit But a good tree Can't produce bad fruit.
It produces good fruit, but a bad tree will produce bad fruit And so the tree you can't just cut cut the fruit off and hope for a better day no the problem is the root And the heart is deceitful and desperately wicked Who can know it? We don't even know our own hearts We think we know our own hearts and then god allows things to come into our path to show us what's really going on in there So we have to repent of what we see When you see pride manifest in your life when you see rebellion towards your boss Towards the authorities that god puts in your life towards your parents towards your coach towards uh Your bank towards the government when you see this rebellion manifest in your heart The lord allows us to see it so that we can confess it Forsake it and turn from it And this is how we deal with the root of sin pride rebellion and unbelief He said in the day of trial in the wilderness verse 9 where your fathers tested me and tried me And they saw my works for 40 years. The lord said and god was angry with that generation Because they always go astray in their heart They were rebellious and wild in heart They were not humble in heart The word of god says the humble and the pure in heart shall see god But you'll never understand seeing god is knowing god In this life seeing god is to know him to know his ways to walk in his ways If you don't have a humble heart An obedient heart you will never come to know god You will know only about god and you can be led astray by various people telling you different things And if you love money Then you're someone's going to come to you and talk to you about kenneth copeland and benny hinn And you're going to start to love that teaching Because you have love of money in your heart Because you want to do your own thing with that money And all of a sudden you'll be led astray because your heart will lead you astray You know, you watch a hallmark show christmastime. They come on you can get a hallmark movie People sit down and watch that and one of their famous sayings is follow your heart Just follow your heart Well, the word of god says if you follow your heart in the heart of man is deceitful and desperately wicked Your heart will lead you to sin every time unless you get a good and obedient heart The word of god says in ezekiel 36 that i'll take your heart of stone your rebellious hard heart And i'll replace it with a heart of flesh one that can feel conviction And he'll put a new heart in you and a new spirit in you Better than any doctor or surgeon can do a heart transplant He'll take our heart of stone and he'll replace it with a soft heart that can feel conviction that can be sensitive That can be humble and broken when the word of god is preached To tremble at the word of god when the word of god is preached Now I wanted to add this just because you're strong like dan and myself That doesn't mean that your heart is hard And just because you're so meek and you never talk back And you're just so quiet and and you know It says even if a fool keeps their mouth shut they'll be considered wise but you can be the most stubborn rebellious person on the inside God looks at the heart We are fearfully and wonderfully made in christ, but if we're not in christ Then we're all regenerate doesn't matter what our personality is We need to have the character and the genes of christ John The one who wrote john the apostle first john second john third john He was not the rock the one who would lead the church In the book of acts it was peter who would God had predestined and preordained that peter would be that one not because he was perfect But because he had the character and the leadership qualities that was necessary to lead the brothers Including john to follow in the way, but john had other things that he had that peter didn't have He had a closeness with jesus In that when jesus spoke from the shore saying children.
Have you any food? John said it's the lord Because he was the one who would put his head on jesus chest And he would listen to his heart beat and he would hear him sigh when he would hear the brothers arguing about who was the greatest and He would have discernment about different things and he came to know jesus better than the rest at that point Because he made choices to draw close to jesus That spot was available for all of them. John took that spot. No one else wanted it You can take that spot To have a heart for god like that.
You want to know who had a heart for god like that? When saul was stripped of his king kingdom because he Was rebellious and he was proud he wanted honor from the people He said the kingdom is stripped from you and it's going to be given to your neighbor who's better than you David was the one who received the kingdom but you know when Samuel went and god sent him to the house of jesse and he had Seven sons I think is what it says and he went there to to anoint someone king in the replace in the place of Of saul because saul was proud rebellious and sought honor from people and he was unbelieving because he feared the people You know, this is what happened to him It says in verse 12 beware brethren lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief This is the third root Of a bad heart an evil heart of unbelief in departing from the living god You can start in faith and then it says and I believe it's in first timothy in chapter four verse one that in the last days in the last times Men will depart from the faith giving heed to lying spirits and teachings of devils When the teaching changes the faith changes you starting putting your faith in the teachings of men Rather than putting your faith in the teachings of the word of god And it can all get very blurry Because there's other things going on like pride like rebellion Right and ultimately unbelief I've met people who are very strong in their faith. The only problem is they believe lies And that's not saving faith my friends If you don't put your faith in in christ and in the word of god, you have your faith in a false religion a false jesus another gospel The house of jesse jesse must have brought his boys up well And here comes the son's coming to see samuel He's ready. He has a horn of oil in his hand.
He's going to pour the oil on the next king to anoint him The king over israel and there is eliab Boy, he's got he looks strong He's tall he has the leadership qualities that that Samuel sees as he's approaching him and samuel judges Unrighteously, but he judges by what he sees and what he's heard and he says surely this eliab the lord's anointed is before me But then the lord Didn't choose eliab when he came and passed by and all the other sons passed by the lord didn't choose any of them And then you start to question samuel starts to question. I heard from the lord None of the sons were chosen what's going on here? So he could have done two things right there. He could have said well, you know lord, I guess I heard wrong He could have tucked his tail and left Or he could ask the question which he did ask have you any more sons Oh, yes one more son But you know what? We don't esteem him as having leadership qualities.
We don't esteem him because he's Yeah, sure. He's young ruddy and good looking, but he's not very tall You know, he's not he doesn't fit the bill. He doesn't fit the mold You know, he's the youngest And you know, we put him out there Because he's good with sheep and we can trust him with the sheep And so he's working Why weren't the other brothers working? What were they up to? Why was the young guy out there working because his dad put him in charge? So samuel said call him Here comes david and as david is coming towards saul God tells samuel This is my anointed And then he told him he said listen don't judge by outward appearance by what you see Don't choose eliah because I have rejected him because god doesn't look at the outward appearance God looks deeper than what we see with our eyes and what we hear with our ears.
He judges righteously Because he searches the motives and intents of the heart He saw the heart of the young boy And he saw that it he had leadership qualities because he was humble Because he was not proud Because he was willing to risk his own life for the sheep He was obedient to his dad. He was not rebellious He went to the to the field Even when he may have known that all the brothers were going to a special meeting that he was not invited. He was okay with that He was not stubborn Not rebellious nor stubborn and he had faith When he saw a bear coming after the sheep and grabbed one of those sheep he believed that his god would give him the strength And the power to overtake it for the sake of the sheep He had faith.
He was humble And he was teachable God said over all the other guys who may have other qualities or soldiers of war I choose david Because he has the characteristics that i'm looking for in a leader As brother dan shared And even unbelievers can see it Even unbelievers can recognize it loyalty discipline commitment faithfulness Those things go way further than proud rebellious And strong in the flesh Brothers sisters, let's be careful lest there be in any of us an evil heart of unbelief In departing from the living god, but what is necessary in verse 13? Why do we get together? Why do we have fellowship? Why do we text one another? Why do we put stuff on the on the church chat or on the family chat? Why do we do it? Because it says exhort one another daily While it's called today. What does that mean exhort? It means to remind Or to correct one another or to help each other out Why? Is it because we're proud and we want to prove that we're smart or something? No because we love Because you know what? The heart is deceitful and desperate wicked wicked and if you're left to your own self to do your own thing You're gonna go astray That's why there is safety in the multitude of counselors Because we all have blind spots If we didn't then this the the driving school people wouldn't tell you to shoulder check You have to shoulder check because there are blind spots when you're driving a vehicle and we as believers our pride And our old nature which we're to reckon dead there are blind spots that can get us tripped up into areas of sin that leads to death And that's why we love one another and we love the brethren And we're willing to say hey, you know, you can't see it or I can't see it But it's very clear to my wife. She can see it.
It's very clear to my brother. He can see it We were up at the creek this last week and I was sharing something and I said To to the brothers I was sharing with and to the people there. I said listen, I said I can't see Things in myself, maybe if i'm being arrogant or if i'm being proud or whatever, but I said if I asked brother dan right or josh They would say oh brother.
They might have come with with a list of things they see Because I have blind spots in my own life But if brother dan said well, do you see anything in my life? He asked me one time something I won't get into it, but I said he said do you think i'm this way? I said, yeah, brother. I think you're that way. Really? I don't see it that way Yeah, well get another opinion see what they think You know because we have blind spots We have not yet been perfected And that's why we need one another and that's why it says we're to gather together And so much more as we see the day approaching.
We're not to isolate ourselves There's a proverb that says a man who isolates himself seeks his own desires If you isolate yourself it's because you don't want anybody to speak into your life because you have an intention To do what you want That is not the kind of heart that god can work with And you know what's necessary for people like that? discipline If I have a child and I love that child we poured into that child mothers have carried that child You know, we've got up all hours of the night with that child Sometimes we drive around town trying to get them to sleep when they're young Right when they're small, you know, they do all kinds of crazy things the diapers got to get changed There's so much work goes into that child And the day that child just stands up to your face and confronts you The discipline is necessary Why because you're angry with them because you're better than them no Because you can't allow the rebellion to grow and become deep-rooted Because jail waits for them a lot of pain and life waits for them Harsh things if the lord deals with them So the lord has entrusted the children to us and it says In hebrews in chapter 12 that fathers discipline their children as they think best but god disciplines us even as adults We have nobody disciplining us, but he allows Circumstances and people in our life to bring about things and events that happen to discipline us to wake us up I was talking with gerson the other day and he told me about something that happened and And I said did that happen to you? Yeah that happened to me I said and you didn't change that was a discipline No, I didn't change Well, what happens next more severe discipline because the lord loves us Because it says in hebrews 12 that the lord disciplines everyone. He loves And he scourges he gives them a good Licking every son or daughter he receives What son or daughter is there without discipline if you say hey son don't do that stop that don't do that Would you say that to your neighbor's son? Probably not Unless it's going to do harm to your son. You might say something love includes discipline It's not being too harsh.
It's not being too severe and it's very hard to do it as a parent We don't discipline in anger. We have to do it in love, but it's necessary and consistently When I raised my children the number one thing the number one offense that I would discipline for david, what is it? Yeah for lying The number one discipline the most severe discipline you're going to get from this dad here It's not for throwing something and breaking the fireplace. It's not for you know, doing some stupid stuff reckless stuff or getting into a fight The most severe discipline is for lying Why Because when you lie, you can no longer trust anything the person says trust breaks down Jesus said I am the way The truth and the life No one comes to the father but by me if you don't become a lover of truth If you can't be honest about what you did and why you did it Then god can't help you The lord desires truth in the inward part You have to become a lover of truth Even if you don't like the discipline that you're going to get better the discipline you're going to get then How much discipline is going to pile up from perpetual lying? If you lie once what does it make you? A liar what if you what if you just lie all the time? You're absolutely untrustworthy You can have the best degree And as soon as your boss finds out that you lied about something to make yourself look better Trust breaks down You will no longer advance In the company He'll move on from you But if you are the one you know what dan said he's looking for He says of his workers.
He said Something's leaking here. What happened? Who what happened who did it? Nobody did it. They all point fingers.
Nobody did it He says I want to choose just take responsibility and if no one will own up to it the guy who's in charge has to say It was me Take responsibility if you're the boss and your employee did it and he won't admit to it You say you know what? It's on me. I should have double-checked it The boss is looking for that and you know what the lord is looking for the lord is looking for the same You know when when saul was there and he disobeyed the word of the lord And and he didn't kill all the sheep and everything And then he spared the king and everything and samuel went there and the lord says I rejected samuel I've rejected saul And when he said saul, what have you done? He said I have obeyed the word of the lord. He found a loophole He said well, why do I hear all these sheep that you were supposed to destroy and what and who's what's up with this king? And all that No, he says i've obeyed.
I have obeyed. He just kept holding to his lie. I've obeyed because it was a partial truth A partial truth is a partial lie Then finally he said okay.
I've sinned when he got caught but Honor me now in front of the people I have sinned but no full stop. It's my fault Who else sinned greatly the man after god's own heart? David after he was anointed king. He did some very terrible things And when nathan went and pointed his finger at him, he said you're the man And david said against thee psalm 51 and thee only have I sinned and done this evil in thy sight period No excuses I sinned.
Okay. Saul says but I feared the people. That's why I did it excuses.
No I sinned. Okay, but honor me now. I need to keep faith with the people.
No full stop. I sinned period God can work with that There were severe consequences for david Discipline his son that he had with basheba died the sword and division in his family never left his house There were severe consequences for the people of god as a result of david's sin But not the maximum discipline that saw god When the kingdom was stripped from him permanently david the kingdom was stripped from him temporarily But god restored him but saw this the kingdom was stripped from him permanently even though he never left the office It says the holy spirit left saw And a distressing evil demonic spirit came upon him and from time to time it would come and torment him honesty I desire truth in the inward parts Make me to know joy and gladness that the bones which thou hast broken may rejoice Become a man of integrity a man who holds to truth. You know what there's all measures of lies and stuff still in us We can confess and forsake them Say lord i've been a liar.
I repent of it Make me honest honest Even if my reputation takes a hit Our reputation is nothing if we're a liar doesn't matter what abilities you have God is with truth Jesus said I am the way The truth and the life. Jesus is the truth And those who are of jesus speak truth and love We want to be able to speak the truth and love that we might be able to impart grace to the ears And if we're not speaking truth We're liars then discipline is necessary either from parents or from the lord himself Because he cannot allow us to continue on in our lives That's why when it comes to teachings and to doctrines It's not the lies That are going to make you free It's not the teachings of men that are going to liberate you maybe temporarily But it's the teachings of jesus That are going to make you free. That's how you're going to get free from drugs and alcohol and from Demonic and from perversion and from all these other things and you are going to be a set apart people It says in second corinthians chapter 6 verse 14 do not be Unequally yoked or joined together with unbelievers.
Oh, but I want to share my faith with them Yeah, but you know what'll happen if the holy spirit didn't send you and you just went You will become more and more compromising like them If the holy spirit sent you you'll be there for a mission and you might get stoned They might throw a beer bottle at your head But know for certain that you will not find fellowship with them because it says in the same passage what fellowship has righteousness with with wickedness What communion communion is when you sit at a table and you have a meal you share a meal together? What communion has righteousness with wickedness? How can you put your shot glass up, you know with ungodly? When he said come out from among them and be separate don't touch what is unclean and i'll receive you So when we come out from among them and be separate then we receive promises When we take this step of faith and we're obedient to the convictions of our conscience and the word of god Then he said i'll be a father to you and you shall be my sons and daughters You want to get to know god more clearly you want to know him in a better way? You want to be like john and put your head on his chest? Be obedient to the convictions and if you don't see it clear listen to the voice of maybe your wife or to a brother Or to your pastor or to your boss If he loves the lord These are things that are important Come out from among them and be separate don't touch what is unclean i'll receive you i'll finish in this passage in peter first peter in chapter four Be separate from the world we are in the world yes, but you have to have a conviction And align with the lord that you will not cross Do you have a red line in your life Is there a line that you say this is a line that I will not cross or does that line move? In football that line doesn't move when you get into the red zone. It's from the 20-yard line. It's always the red zone it's never the 15 or the 25, but we ourselves that line moves depending on how we feel that day or Whether we've been following our heart Your heart will cause the line to move for sure No, we've been a peculiar people a set apart people Jesus called us to walk just as he walked in holiness and righteousness and in the fear of the lord Just like he did in the days of his flesh And he calls us to pick up our cross as he picked up his and to follow in his steps when you pick up your cross You're not letting the wildness of self get what it wants You are saying self I was baptized with christ.
I'm, not my own i've been bought with a price. I'm not giving in to what you want You have to say no to yourself You have to be self-disciplined You say well some would say that's works gospel The power of god will help you to exercise self-discipline. That is one of the fruits of the holy spirit The holy spirit will help you to be self-disciplined First peter chapter 4 verse 1 therefore since christ suffered for us in the flesh.
Now, how did he suffer? He didn't do what he wanted. He did what his father said And how about us? Well, you don't have any authority over you anymore. You're on your own Nobody telling you what to do.
You can do what you want. You can drive to the liquor store You can drive to the pub. You can drive to a sports event.
You can Go to work. You don't have to show up for work, but they all have consequences This everything has a consequence And so christ when he came to the earth and he realized that his will Was not the one that he should listen to but he should obey the will of his father He suffered in the flesh and he armed himself with that mindset You have to arm yourself with that mindset Now, you know, we know that if we don't go show up for work, we're going to get fired So we arm ourselves with the mindset when the alarm goes and your flesh says shut it off 10 more minutes You might do it. The alarm might go again But maybe you might pull it out of the wall next time Well, there will be consequences if you don't arm yourself with the mindset that flesh You need to obey and get out of bed because you have a class you have a job you have this you have that You understand that But if you truly believe the scriptures you will arm your mind To be obedient to the word of god with the same you'll just stop Neglecting the convictions and pressing the snooze button.
Well, I know but I know but no full stop Listen to the convictions of the holy spirit be obedient to them If you want to come to know christ be obedient to them And listen to the people around you if you don't have light Since christ suffered for us in the flesh arm yourselves with the same mind For he who has suffered in the flesh has stopped practicing sin You're not going to stop practicing sin unless you decide to suffer in the flesh Recently, we're away as you all know Well, I came back. I thought you know what? I I had a very good time and I had a lot of liberty and I ate a few snacks and I had breakfast which I usually don't have and My son had some bacon and he shared his bacon with me and I thought man, you know, i'm feeling so good I'm feeling fit and feeling light did some good walking And the scale was there and I said, ah I'm gonna prove that scale wrong Because it's the truth that sets free. I jumped on that thing.
I gained seven pounds in five days Well, I had lied to myself Well, I just a couple of sugar cookies every day Just a little bit of ice cream Just a few snacks The scale didn't lie I lied to myself. I believed a lie. Now if I had not got on the scale, I would have continued to have tremendous liberty But it was the truth that made me free this last week I was suffering in the flesh and I had to arm myself with that mind My blood pressure is up.
Everything's going south because I made bad choices, but I told myself I was okay Brothers sister the word of god is given to us as a scale As a plumb line Not for us to look at and say. Yeah. Yeah, but i'm doing i'm good No for us to get a gauge on where we're really at In our walk with christ And if you want to have a wholesome pure walk with christ if you want to become humble To walk in faith and not to be stubborn and proud Then you're going to have to be Obedient to what the word of god says in the holy spirit's convictions in your life And you need to have yourself a red line Because as christ suffered in the flesh and didn't do what he pleased we cannot do what we please without consequences He says this of us as believers That we should no longer live the rest of our life in the flesh or in the natural life that we live for the lusts of men The way that we used to live But we should live for the will of god So we know some from the scriptures what is the will of god for you For you to be set apart to please him your sanctification.
That's being set apart for god for his purpose If you don't set yourself apart from your old friends Then you'll never be set apart for god's purpose to be used of god. If you don't set yourself apart from the old vices From the old addictions, you will never be useful in the things of god that involves suffering you may feel lonely sometimes because Leaders walk alone But the lord is with you You may feel rejected indeed by men, but chosen by god and precious sometimes You may feel abandoned But not forsaken You may be feel struck down sometimes by what people will say or even physically But not destroyed Because we're carrying in our bodies the cross the dying of the lord. Jesus in our members and so we've armed our minds This in the same mindset to have the mind of christ that christ had when he was on the earth To please the father not to do our own will but to do the will of the father Verse three For we have spent enough of our past lifetime doing what gerson what have we been doing living like the ungodly When we walked in lewdness, what is lewdness? lewd speech lewd dress lewd attitudes and pride That's how we used to walk with our old friends in our old lifestyles lewd speech Unclean speech lewd dress we would dress in ways to draw attention to ourselves Lewd attitudes and pride we would carry ourselves in certain way that we wouldn't let anybody step or walk on us When we walked in lewdness How else did we walk in lusts? We would not deny our eyes any pleasure We would do not deny our ears any pleasure We would not deny our hands and our feet any pleasure.
We would do what we wanted to do This is how we used to live when we were in the flesh We would walk in drunkenness That's what it says But we are not to be drunk with wine, but to be filled with the spirit So we no longer walk the way we once walked and drunkenness also includes Also the other vices of drugs and all the the offshoots of that as well in revelries and drinking parties This is not for us as believers To be revelry dancing around and acting like total imbeciles filled with demonic spirits drawing attention to self to our bodies And trying to get people to like us Where people are drinking and doing things that are unclean and inappropriate And what ends up happening from those parties is only unclean sinful things And abominable idolatries Idolatry is anything you love more than the lord The the love of self is ultimately Encapsuled in all the fruits of idolatry Now in regard to these things verse 4 gerson, what does it say? They think it? strange Why you won't go and hang out with them and run with them the way that you used to run with them And do things with them. They're going to think it's strange And they're going to speak evil behind your back But you know what that's okay Because verse 5 says they will give an account to him who's ready to judge the living and the dead We don't have to say too many words our actions will speak louder than our words when we set ourselves apart because of christ Will you set yourself apart? Because of christ or will you keep lying to try to make yourself look better to people while secretly you're doing your own thing You're living for yourself You're walking in rebellion and pride You're going to do what you want to do and nobody can tell you any different until god stops you in your tracks My son told me not too long ago actually yesterday. There's a guy on his team that sprained his ankle And he's still not walking right You know what? These kind of things can happen in one second I was talking to my manager yesterday lothar and he said one morning he woke up and he's done Extremely difficult jobs and work and everything and he was in his bed There's a couple years now and he told me yesterday and he had a stretch And he popped his achilles Tendon and it separated from his heel and he had to have an operation.
He couldn't walk Just having a little stretch in his bed in the morning. You just have a little stretch bang You know how long it takes to heal from that injury? And you need operation Not just a tear a total snap We are not guaranteed tomorrow So we need to take heed to the things we've heard from hebrews chapter 2 Lest we drift away and if we drift away too far the lord loves you enough To get your attention that you might look to him and be saved May the lord help us To get some good fear of god That's why we discipline our children to give them a good fear of mom and dad So that when you say hey, then you don't have to give them the discipline. They immediately obey Isn't that the fruit that we're looking for? Is immediately to obey rather than to continue in rebellion and pride and stubbornness And unbelief.
I don't believe what mom and dad say. I know better Come on brothers Why wait for god to discipline us? Let's humble ourselves So he can lift us up in jesus name. Amen
