What Is The Will Of God For You?

Randy Krahn · 36:37

Randy Krahn teaches that the will of God for believers is sanctification—living a holy life by overcoming fleshly desires through faith, spiritual warfare, and abiding in Christ.
This sermon emphasizes the need to press on in seeking God's will, highlighting the battle in the mind against worldly desires and the importance of bringing every thought captive to Christ. It discusses the dangers of indulging in worldly pleasures, the significance of sanctification and walking in the light as children of God, and the spiritual warfare against the lust of the flesh, eyes, and pride of life. The message stresses the need to overcome temptations, repent of sins, and pursue spiritual growth by engaging in the battle for the soul through faith and obedience to God's Word.

Reveal things to us by your spirit that would cause us to press on and to move forward as we seek to do your will in Jesus name. Amen. Dan shared about the world and loving the world and all the things that are in the world and he's delivered us from so great a death and he has and he does and he will yet and he spoke about this toilet bowl you know we have a little dog and you leave that bathroom door open the dog goes and drinks from the toilet bowl dogs and pigs drink from toilet bowls but not believers we're not of those who shrink back to destruction but to those who press on to the saving of the soul but we're concerned that our animals would drink from such a filthy cesspool yet we ourselves go and indulge in the lust of the flesh we get enticed by the lust of the eyes and then we boast just like we did in the world about the pride of life these things are not from the father they're from the world and the world is passing away in the lust of it but the scripture says the one who does the will of god abides forever so the question excuse me is what is the will of god for you everyone has this desire about the will of god and the scripture says that this is the will of god your sanctification so what does that look like sanctification that means being set apart from the way that we used to live the scripture also says that we should walk worthy of the calling to which we've been called god has called us out of darkness and he's conveyed us into the kingdom of the son of his love we were once darkness but we've accepted jesus now we're light in the lord so we're to walk as children of light we have to walk worthy of that calling that means to choose what is right and reject the thoughts that come that are evil i want to read something about how to overcome the temptations of the devil how to overcome the temptations of the devil in second corinthians in chapter 10 the bible says in james that each person is tempted when we are drawn away by our own desires and enticed the flesh has desires desire for relationship desire for things a desire for money a desire for a car a desire to have a family a desire to get a good job a desire to be to have a safe place you know where we can live in peace but yet that place is in jesus that place of peace is in jesus so wherever we are we can have peace man spoke about whenever he puts his feet up and i can testify the same temptations right around the corner each one is tempted when he's drawn away by his own desires and enticed you put your feet up and just take a rest and temptation comes like a flood because the flesh is not satisfied yesterday i was hungry i came in and i said well i'm just gonna i see there's three pieces of pizza there i said well i'm just gonna have one i'm only gonna have one and then all of a sudden after i had one i thought well i could probably have two the flesh is not happy with one the flesh is happy with everything and even after that it wants more because it says whose god is their belly whose glory is in their shame who set their minds on earthly things so if you're just going to have one beard and share the testimony of christ pretty soon you have a whole case because you have to guard against the lust of the flesh the flesh lusts against the spirit and the spirit is hostile to the flesh and the two don't agree so when we're tempted and drawn away by our own desires and enticed it says desire conceives in the heart when does it happen when we're at ease in zion when we're putting our feet up that's when temptation comes when you have just an hour to yourself that's when all kinds of these thoughts come in our head when we're just quiet and we want to spend a little time with the lord all of a sudden we're being bombarded with the desires of the sinful nature but we're to reckon ourselves dead to sin and alive to bother so we have to know how to battle against the lust of the flesh how to war against the lust of the eyes how to overcome the boastful pride of life these things are not from the father they're from the world so when desire conceives in the heart and gives birth to sin if it if we allow it to grow if we allow sin to grow in james in chapter 1 verse 12 to 15 it says it brings forth death this is the spiritual kind of death that starts working in us where we now become slaves to sin again brother dan shared shall we continue in sin so that grace may abound may it never be how should we who died to sin that's what baptism really means you're entering into a covenant with god that you're going to die to your old life and you're going to be raised up in the newness of the resurrection you're going to follow jesus yet we take covenant so lightly i think of the woman at the well and jesus meets this woman he's not done with her she's intrigued by jesus she sees that he's glowing there's a love about him what is it a special about this jesus and jesus puts his finger on the woman he says can you give me a drink and she says why are you asking me for a drink and he said if you knew who asked you a drink you would ask of me and i would give you living water well she says the well is deep you have nothing to draw with how where are you going to get this water the well is very deep and he said go get your husband well touchy issue well i've had uh i don't have a husband yeah i'm not going to tell him i don't have a husband he said you've answered me right you've had five husbands and the one you're living with now is not your husband in this you've spoken rightly he put his finger on the issue of what was going sideways in her life and her desire for love was in relationships and even though he didn't have a bucket to get water out of that well he definitely had something to get to the bottom of that sister and to bring up what was lacking that well that he drew from was her life that life was a very deep dark life and seeking to try and satisfy the longing and thirsting of her soul she sought it in relationships and it left her empty she said give me this living water so i don't have to come back here to draw say go get your husband well he's not my husband in this you've spoken correctly jesus said i am the way the truth and the life no one comes to the father but by me this woman had a revelation that the christ was coming well when he comes he's going to tell us and jesus never revealed himself as the christ to very many people but to this woman who had this dark past who was living in adulterous and fornicating and all this relationship he reveals that the one who speak to you and he i'm the christ she drops her water pot she runs to town she tells everybody she knows including people she doesn't that i've met i've met the christ could this be the christ and people are coming to find out to hear about jesus come and meet a man come and meet a man it's always been about men but now she met the man jesus and he was enough she didn't have to go back and drop she left her water pot she found the source of life in jesus christ will you be willing to forsake all of that dark past to know the one who died for you who gave himself as a ransom for you that you could be joined in marriage to the one who gave us life from the dead will he satisfy the longing and thirsting of your soul or after you've met christ will you then turn back we're some that shrink back but we're not of those that shrink back to destruction we're to press on to the saving of the soul there's a war for the soul and this happens in the battleground of our mind in second corinthians in chapter 10 he speaks of these things there were some talking to paul saying that he was walking according to the flesh can you imagine people in the church and they're judging paul they're saying well you know we think you're walking according to the flesh maybe they were thinking that maybe they're telling each other that maybe they didn't tell him but it says now in verse one now i paul myself am pleading with you by the meekness and gentleness of christ who in the presence among you am lowly but being absent i'm very bold towards you but i beg you that when i am present i may not be bold that i may not be bold that my confidence by which i intend to be bold against some who think of us as if we walked according to the flesh for though we walk in the flesh we live in this world but walking according to the flesh means living of the world so we live and move and have our being in jesus christ we work we eat we drink we we live we breathe we enjoy the gifts that god has given us but we don't live for those things when we live for the things of the world destruction is around the corner it says every good and perfect gift comes from above which is comes from the father of lights he gives good gifts to his children you know what little children do auntie betty's coming over auntie betty is bringing candy and everybody loves auntie betty she's living in fornication and adultery but they love auntie because when she comes she has candy and you know what we as little children lack discernment they don't love auntie betty because she loves jesus they love auntie betty because of what she can give them and we go in many times we keep up for ourselves as babes in christ teachers that itching ears want to hear so we go and we find some guy that'll tell us what we want to hear because we love the candy that comes from their lips rather than the truth that'll make us free since in the last days there'll be the pulpits will be full of them speaking lies and hypocrisy telling you things that you want to hear oh you can have another wife you can have another adulterous relationship and you can have jesus too you can have your cake and eat it too there's a deception we have to go with what the word of god says and what the spirit of god says to the church sin will destroy your life the wages of sin is death but the gift of god the one who said if you would ask of me i would give you that's eternal life through jesus christ our lord the spirit was flowing forth from the man and the woman grabbed it because the love that she was searching for with all these louts that she'd married didn't compare with the love that came from this man jesus the Christ not in a natural sense he flowed love god is love people followed him all over the place because love is god and god is love and everyone who loves is born of god and knows god we want to flow in love brothers sisters we want to know the love of god which surpasses head knowledge to know him the power of his resurrection along with the fellowship of his sufferings if you want to grow spiritually like brother dan shared you want to move forward you want to take another grade you want to take another gear you want to move ahead with christ then you need to bring thoughts captive this is how we overcome we don't overcome by putting our feet up the children of israel after they come and say salvation song the first thing they get is a trial and what does it prove what's in the heart grumbling and complaining against moses they came saying salvation song finally the pharaoh they're done with pharaoh they're going into the wilderness singing salvation song and a few hours later they man we're getting thirsty here where can we fill up our canteens where can we fill up our water jugs our jars well probably up ahead the day passes on there's no water what's going on here maybe just well just let's keep going moses saying let's just keep going the lord will provide second day third day no water how many you go thirsty for three days it's been hot this week you go thirsty for three days and you tell me what's coming out of your heart you get hungry for a few days you tell her tell me what's going on all this dial starts coming up and they come to the pool of mera because the waters there were bitter that people they swoop down they see this water and they start drinking from this cistern this pond and the waters are bitter salt water moses you bring us out here to die in the wilderness and they start pointing the finger at moses and start getting angry with him and he says lord what to do it has to always be a miracle with jesus it's always a miracle moses says what to do lord and the lord says there's a branch there's a branch on the side of the of the pond take the branch and cast it in to the waters and so moses in obedience grabs this branch lifts it into the pond and the bitter waters were made sweet what a miracle everybody could drink and when we look at it in a spiritual sense what do we see we see that it wasn't the waters that made the people so upset because the bitterness was in them it was the waters and the circumstances around those waters that drew the bitterness out of them so that there could be one who would make those bitter circumstances sweet his name is jesus jesus is referred to as the branch the root of jesse the rod and that branch whenever he enters into your bitter circumstances are able to make your bitter circumstances bearable with jesus our circumstances don't always change but jesus never changes he himself is our peace come to me all who thirst jesus cried out at the great feast the last day of the great feast everybody's been eating and drinking everybody's well drunk everybody's fully fed and he stands up and he cries aloud come to me all you thirst and out of your innermost being will flow rivers of living water do you thirst for god for the living god or do you thirst for the next man that's around the corner you thirst for the next relationship the next woman that you can meet online where are your needs being met and when it doesn't work out are you bitter and angry at the lord look to the lord make him your husband jesus is enough we find this satisfaction in this longing for the soul in things and it leaves us empty empty empty but jesus is the one that will satisfy us so we won't thirst anymore thoughts got to be brought captive that's the battleground for the soul is in the mind paul goes on from here in verse 3 2nd corinthians 10 3 for though we walk in the flesh we live in the world but we do not war according to the flesh we don't fight against flesh and blood we don't wrestle against natural enemies we don't fight against men women neighbors brothers sisters the weapons of our warfare are not car they're spiritual and mighty in god and what is he first specifically referring to here he's referring to in verse 4 the weapons of our warfare are not carnal they're not natural weapons they're spiritual weapons but yet they're mighty in god for doing what pulling down strongholds where are these strongholds when you're putting your feet up and you take a little time you think of man i want to serve the lord i want to follow the lord but i have all these other thoughts just flooding my head just filling my head all kinds of cares worries fears anxieties desires we have to bring every thought captive to the obedience of christ we have to pull down these high-minded thoughts we have to repent of these things and we have to battle we have to engage in a fight we have to war not after the flesh nor according to the flesh we have to war in the spirit because there's a war for your soul the flesh is hostile against the spirit and the spirit is against the flesh because there's a battle for your soul you say oh i'm one save always save never mind that i'm good you bought a lie you drank the kool-aid there's a war for the soul why is the devil fighting for something he already has control of that would be the most foolish enemy to keep fighting a battle he's already won he has his goods and peace and people who are living in the world but when you're a believer you become the hunted the one who departs from evil makes himself a prey don't drink the kool-aid don't go along with what the mass preachers are telling you there is a battle for your soul and that warfare happens in the mind and we have to war after the spirit and say lord i'm not going to give in to the lust of the flesh jesus help me call on the name of the lord look early and look often to the lord and he will help you and save you out of all all all your troubles it says they look to the lord and they were radiant and their faces were not ashamed what are our faces ashamed you can tell yourself you're you're the righteousness of god you can tell yourself quote all the promises while you look in the mirror and you see the hell on you why is the hell on you because you've given into the flesh you've walked after the flesh you've you practice sin we can repent and turn and we need to get the victory somebody who continues to fall into sin is someone who does not believe in the resurrection what do you mean by that oh i believe jesus was raised up from the dead no you don't because it says he who raised up christ from the dead is also able to raise you up with christ and if you believed in the resurrection of christ then you also have to believe that he is able to save you from your sin there's countless thousands of believers who want jesus to save them in their sin but they have no desire to change they have no desire to pick up the cross and to enter into the battle when you pick up the cross it's not downhill it's uphill when you bury your cross you head up gold gotha's hill to be buried with him in baptism unto his death it's a fight to get up there and it's not easy even jesus needed help are we better than jesus do we think that we've resisted unto bloodshed already striving against sin do we think we've surpassed jesus life on earth this war for the soul has to be won and it happens by faith in the word of god put your trust in god i will yet praise him i don't understand lord what i'm going through but the devil's telling me right now go after the flesh never mind jesus can't do anything for you you better run to that man you better get on after that woman or you're gonna miss out trains passing you by you said devil the lord rebuked you you're not mindful of the things of god but the things of the flesh i am crucified with christ i'm not going to live after the flesh let's understand that there are spiritual weapons that god gives us to war after the devil and his thoughts that bombard our mind the battlefield is not happening in armageddon over there the battlefield is happening in armageddon in your mind and if you don't bring every thought captive to the obedience of christ you will not stand the scripture says having done all to stand stand therefore having girded up the loins of your mind having on the helmet of salvation and the sword of the spirit which is the word of god and above all else the shield of faith which you can quench every fiery dart of the devil he's coming to war against you in your mind so that you he can rob you of your faith and you so that you will go back that the scripture says we are not of them that shrink back to destruction but of them that press on to the saving of the soul so how does it happen that we end up in a carnal place in a worldly place where the worldly people are worshiping satan and his angels you say i would never do that you know we go to sit in a movie house we go with the devil and his angels when we go to concerts and we go and listen to demonic stuff from people filled with demons and we go and we infiltrate and we become of one spirit you know i went to a baseball game a number of years ago and in the ninth inning the the seattle mariners were were winning by one run and they brought in this guy his name was jj putz and he was the closer and all of a sudden i never had light on this i never had light and all of a sudden i went in there and all of a sudden they put his face on there and they put the music on then all the people began to cheer with one accord and all i heard them saying is he's a god and not a man and i the spirit inside me began to weep and i was bawling and i said what am i doing here this is a worship of men who are the gods of this age that the ones that men lift up these are idols these rock idols these sports idols these people they put their posters on the wall we have them on our phones we listen to them we love them because they give us comfort it's like junking out on junk food and it rots your soul when the holy spirit gives us light we have to purify our souls through obeying the truth through the word of god we need to put to death these things we need to deny ourselves we need to die to what we're held by and we need to follow jesus we have to say jesus is enough the weapons of our warfare are not carnal they're not worldly but they're mighty in god for tearing down strongholds for casting down arguments where are these arguments when i argue with brother dan it happens in my mind that brother dan if only this and that and and i have to bring those thoughts captive bring them to the obedience of christ because otherwise division will come if i let lies inside my head division will come if i start thinking about my wife oh she's not doing this and she's not doing that or she starts entertaining thoughts about me well he's allowed and this and that the next thing you know there's division in between a marriage and if i allow the things that my son does that don't please me to get into my head and i start to build a case against him next thing you know there's division between me and my son and that's a carnal division not a kind of a spiritual division that happens from one following christ and the other we're following the warring we have to bring these thoughts captive there's a battleground in the mind to gossip to slander to think evil thoughts bringing every thought captive in other words how do you do that the devil puts a thought in your head i liken it to this we used to have those old tvs those channels where you just go and you turn the channel right bad commercial comes on you just turn the channel bad commercial comes on you just change the channel on the clicker we need to renew our minds in other words chase the thought out of your mind when you're driving down the road and all of a sudden there's a lustful thought that comes from looking at someone on the side of the road change the channel out of your mind and say lord jesus i'm not a slave to sin i'm a slave to righteousness i do not allow that into my into my thoughts in jesus name i don't receive that and this is how you get to the next grade this is how you grow spiritually when you start to bring thoughts captive and you start to walk in obedience to the calling to which you were called then you're able to be a testimony an example to bring many sons and daughters to glory but we have to be doers of the word and not hearers only deceiving ourselves if we walk after the flesh as some accused paul of then we're going to be worldly christians and there's no such thing it says of the lukewarm christians he said i will vomit them out of my mouth the only time god gets sick is when there's worldly christians honoring them with their lips while their hearts are living for the world and all the things that are in the world they love the world and they love jesus too what do you call someone like that that's like someone who sleeps with your neighbors your neighbor and he said she sleeps with you too you see that that's never going to work how's that going to work that's adultery that's fornication absolutely and so we have to be doers of this word not here's only deceiving ourselves that's the harlot church the one that rides the beast that's the one that looks like a lamb but when they get around their worldly buddies they speak like a dragon out of the abundance of the heart you say well that's not really me the real me is good no the real you is the way that you speak when nobody's listening the way that you speak when you're with your worldly buddies out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks out of the heart is where the good treasures are or the evil treasures and so you can know where a man's heart is by what's coming out of his mouth i can tell who a man loves i just spend a little time with him and he finds oh he's just polishing his car he's rubbing his car he just fixes his car he just loves his car he loves his his god is his car jesus isn't his god oh yes jesus my lord no all you talk about is your car when you're talking about women that's you love women you worship women the creation rather than the creator you can know where a man's heart is about what's coming out of his mouth and so it's good for us to be able to hear ourselves not measure ourselves among ourselves as it talks about later on in this chapter but to hear ourselves so that we would judge ourselves we would not be judged if we judge ourselves rightly so if we can identify these things so what do we do do we say well you know we'll just cut back a little bit no when god asked abraham to sacrifice his one and his only son isaac on the altar he didn't say well you know i'll have to think about that it says he rose early the next morning and he decided what he was going to do why do you think he would ask him to do that man who has one son he put pours everything he has into that boy into that child he loves god but he loves his son he doesn't see god all the time he sees god here and there he knows god he sees his son 24 7 the son in whom he loves and god says i want you to sacrifice him to me sacrifice means death to the flesh laying it down putting it on the altar of god not taking it back up again when abraham finally got to the place where he went and said me and the latter going to worship and the men stayed there and the boy put the wood on his back and he had the knife in his hand and fire and they went up to the mountain that god showed them and he bound the boy and put him on the altar and he raised up the knife to slay his son and the lord stopped him and he said abraham don't put your hand on the boy now i know that you fear me the fear of god is the beginning of wisdom knowledge and understanding in abraham's heart he had gone through with god and he said me and the lad will come back down to you because abraham believed that god cannot lie he said in isaac your seed shall be blessed and he knew that god could not lie if god asked him to lay him on the altar then god would also raise him up with christ he believed in the resurrection do you believe that god will supply if you put whatever it is that you love so dear on the altar for the sake of knowing him don't you think he'll supply whatever it looks like god asked abraham abraham to do what he himself was prepared to do in offering up his only son on the cross for you and me and he didn't hold back he didn't supply some goat or some sheep in his place he became god's perfect spotless lamb of god who takes away the sin of the world he went through when that voice came from heaven this is my beloved son in whom i'm well please listen to him don't you think the father loved the son absolutely completely yet he gave him as an offering it says it pleased the father to crush him to make his soul an offering for sin not just his body his soul became an offering for sin so that we might become the righteousness of god so that we could be redeemed what love have you understood the love of god to redeem us not just in our sins but from our sins are you prepared to be buried with him are you prepared to bear your cross and head up golgotha's hill to say i'm the crucified of the lord are you willing to say i've been bought with a price a bond servant of jesus christ i'm not my own i'm not going to take a week off and go live for the flesh i'm not going to have a bad week there's no bad weeks with god you might have some bad thoughts you might have fallen to sin from time to time but we want to repent and return we don't want to live in sin dogs and pigs drink from the toilet bowl not the believers you might believe in this once they've always saved but if you drink from the the toilet bowl then you're not a believer you don't know christ i finish here casting down arguments these arguments are in your mind turn the channel on them every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of god whenever anything challenges the word of god and tries to bring you into bondage reject it if it's not written in the book if the holy spirit doesn't confirm it to you reject it bringing every thought into captivity in other words i bind that thought in jesus name i reject that thought in the name of jesus so that we become obedient to christ allow yourself to win the war of the soul by overcoming the battle in the mind the war ground is your mind and if you don't engage in the battle in your mind then every thought will get through your soul and what you'll find is you'll become a lover of the world rather than a lover of god you'll have a form of godliness and you'll deny the power what does that mean you will not believe in the resurrection oh you won't expect to change you're happy with your life the way you are now yet brother dan shared and jesus compels us to press on to keep going with god to grow spiritually to be fervent for for the things of god to fulfill the purpose and call of god for your life rather than just junking out on your phone oh these carnal things these are lawful things and you stay stuck in grade one for 30 years can you imagine somebody stuck in grade one for 30 years you would say this person is an invalid this person is stunted there's something wrong with their knowledge and their understanding yet people they become christians we acknowledge christ yet we're just so filled with flesh we just set on the things of the flesh we need to repent renounce and return you're never going to grow spiritually unless you put those things away if that phone is hindering you in your walk take a hammer to it smash it better to enter heaven without a phone than to go to hell with with your phone may the lord help us to get understanding and how to deal with bondages in our life you know some people are addicted to their phones they don't go to recovery but if they're addicted to alcohol they go to recovery what's the difference you're just drunk with all the pollution that's in the world all you're just saturated with the filth that's on that phone and we justify ourselves because these are socially acceptable things and the bible doesn't specifically talk about but it talks about carnality it talks about worldliness it talks about flesh and if we live according to the flesh you will die and i finish here it says but if by the spirit in romans 8 and verse 12 you put to death the deeds of the flesh you'll live that's bringing thoughts captive that's putting into practice the things that you're convicted of that's destroying and getting rid of those things in your life that are holding you back from becoming the man and woman of god that god has predestined you in christ to be that's a strong word isn't that predestined you in christ that word predestination is to be conformed into the image of jesus do you want to become like jesus oh that's a heresy no it's not if you're not walking as jesus walked then you've given up on the fight you stopped the battle you sat on the side of the road like blind bartomias you decided to become worldly you're content you say well you know i'm so far down the road those other brothers they're going to take years to catch up i'm just going to sit here and live according to the flesh no we're not people who live according to the flesh we live in the world but not of it press on my friends look unto jesus the author and perfecter of our faith let's deny ourselves in the flesh all the lusts of the flesh and overcome in jesus name through the blood of the lamb we can overcome and the word of your past testimony he has delivered
