To sin, we need to cut it off. And the world is passing away the pride of life. Wanting to make a name for ourselves, like Brother Downs shared, whether to be a great preacher, or whether to be a great businessman, whether to be a great sports athlete, or whether to be a great musician.
Whatever our greatness, our aspiration is, it has to come under the headship of Jesus Christ. Otherwise, we'll have another head. S-E-L-F.
You'll be worshiping your Lord, yourself. God has given us a will, and that will has to be surrendered to the Lordship of Jesus Christ. If we don't surrender our will, then we'll deceive ourselves.
We'll have all of our dreams and hopes and plans, and we'll want the Lord to come along with them, like we shared last week, rather than being yielded to the Lord Jesus Christ and the Spirit of God.

Frequently Asked Questions
Why must we surrender our will to Jesus Christ?
Because without surrendering, we risk worshiping ourselves and deceiving ourselves by following our own plans instead of God's.
What happens if we do not yield our dreams and hopes to God?
We end up with another head—self—and our plans may lead us away from God's intended purpose.
How does pride affect our spiritual life?
Pride leads us to seek greatness for ourselves rather than submitting to God's lordship, which is contrary to biblical teaching.
What does it mean to have Jesus Christ as our head?
It means allowing Jesus to lead and govern every aspect of our lives, including our dreams, hopes, and plans.
Can worldly success be part of God’s plan?
Yes, but only when it is under the lordship of Jesus Christ and aligned with His will, not pursued for selfish ambition.
