Power Of Sound Doctrine

The title of the message is The Power of Sound Doctrine. The Power of Sound Doctrine. I'm excited about this topic because I love sound doctrine.

What do I mean by that? Solid doctrine. God's word, theology. It keeps you grounded.

And that's why we often say we need sound doctrine, but the power of the Holy Spirit. The letter kills, but Spirit gives life. If all you do is have theology, and there's people that have theology that aren't Christians.

Did you know that there's a lot of people in the Bible, they were called the Pharisees, Sadducees, religious leaders. They had, boy, Jesus said, hey, do what they say about Moses' law, but don't do what they do. And you have to have the power of the Holy Spirit that ignites that doctrine.

And that's really what changed in my life. I shared during Run the Heavens, my testimony, that when the Holy Spirit filled me, the Bible came alive. I would tell my mom, why didn't you tell me this was all in here? I tried, but you weren't ready.

You didn't listen. And so those two, D. Martin Lloyd-Jones, 1950s or so in London, read his books. He's got great theology.

I mean, there's differences on the non-essentials. I think he's all millennial as far as the end time scenarios. But he said preaching is theology coming through a man who is on fire.

And you have to have that straight as a gun barrel theologically, but you don't want to be empty. You need that power of the Holy Spirit. So the power of sound doctrine is such an exciting topic.

But I do want to tell you this because it's right after the election. I think it's important and we'll get right into it. How should Christians act in light of Trump's victory? Colossians 4.6, let your speech at all times be gracious and pleasant, seasoned with salt, so that you will know how to answer each one who questions you, the amplified version.

And you'll be challenged in this area like I have, because you hear the most ridiculous things you've ever heard of. One that's going around is how could men who really care about their daughters vote for him? I can just picture your daughter having a miscarriage, dying in the hospital, and she can't get treated. And I'm like, and it's like all on X, and it's like, what planet are we living on? Like, that's not going to happen.

So there's a lot of fear that's being fueled. So I put it together yesterday. I mentioned Christine edited it last night at nine.

You have the article. It's going to hit the national media tomorrow or Tuesday on an open letter to the left. We're not your enemy.

We're not your enemy. And so somebody's got to start speaking truth into these areas of lies. And I actually removed a couple paragraphs because they're a little sassy.

So as you read it, you can find it on my website pretty soon. Those listening probably later can find it, an open letter to the left. We're not your enemy.

One of the places was when the universities actually stopped classes so kids could go mourn. And I got a little sassy. Yeah.

Like, this is ridiculous. This is silly. Like, that's not going to help things.

And Christine agreed, right? We took that out. So it's hard not to be sassy though, isn't it? Because you just want to slap people sometimes. Like, wake up, wake up.

We got to get out of America. So you're okay with grown men, transgenders, wearing G-strings, dancing to kids and transitioning children and aborting babies unfettered. So you're okay with that? Allowing the wrong things to influence them.

So the power of sound doctrine is so important. Okay, what do I mean by sound? Well, I'm glad you asked. It means free from injury or disease.

It's not flawed. It's not defected. There's no decay in it.

It's free of error and fallacy and misrepresentation. So God's word, we believe that's why we call it inerrant, infallible. It's without error.

And I don't want to get into a lot of details because I could spend 30 minutes here. And I did a whole sermon on where, how we got our Bible. And we do believe that the inspired word of God was without error.

But as men translated it, they call it textual variances and things like that, where they'll might, you know, there's different ways they took this word or this word or they translated this word because that's what a translation is. It's a translation of the original. And if you look at Vulgate, the Vulgate translation, Luther's translation, the Geneva study Bible that came over on the pilgrims, that translation I did, I went deep for a month studying for that sermon.

And you'll see that there's two different manuscripts really, Textus Receptus and Textus Vaticanus and Codanic, all these different terms. It just means one is the majority and one is the majority text. And one is actually closer to the life of Christ.

It's older text. And so that's where you'll get the new King James, the King James, the New American Standard. And then from a different one, the majority you get like the NIV and things like that.

But they all, you'll never go astray by reading those, but there are certain places where they just don't, they don't, they don't say the same thing. It has nothing to do with doctrinal truth about Christ's crucifixion. He's the only way.

To give you one example, when Jesus said that I didn't come to call, uh, I came to call sinners to repentance. You know, I didn't come to call those, I came to call sinners, sinners to repentance. The NIV takes out the word to repentance, just as I've come to call sinners.

But if you read the context, it's crystal clear what he's saying. And so it's, and Mark talked about this kind does not come out except by prayer and fasting. Some manuscripts have that, some don't.

So it's never on, and I'm kind of glad we don't have this perfect worship by like every single thing is like we, we'd worship it because flawed man inspired by the Holy Spirit moved and they wrote the Bible, the Greek and the Hebrew was, was revealed of God. But then in the translations, sometimes there'd be this little valve maybe, or this different thing, um, which is you can study that more. It's pretty, pretty interesting, but we do believe that all the principles, all the theology is without error.

There's no disease. It's not flawed. Richard Owen Roberts said it.

And actually, there's lots of scriptures that confirm that because a false prophet is one who would walk away from scripture. They had some truth in there, but they would walk away from scripture. And when you walk away from scripture, God walks away from you.

So a lot of these churches that I don't want to mention, big, small, whatever, when they start to contemplate, and I don't know if Paul really meant that. I sat with pastors who've told me that. You know, I don't think Paul really meant that.

That was the culture of his day, and he was kind of writing from an angry temper type issue, but now we know a little bit better. We have a lot more knowledge now, and I think some of that doesn't relate. What applies and what doesn't? And who are you to deter? To me, it's very prideful and very arrogant, and that's what I spoke about weeks ago called the emergent church movement.

The emergent church movement. I talked with some of those pastors, and those are the ones who wanted to replace a pulpit with a couch. And they would.

They would have a couch up here, and let's have a conversation. Let's talk. Let's dialogue.

Well, it's interesting. Okay, how do you feel? Now, it's great for a social club, but it's not the power of the Word of God. It's in its totality anointed by the Holy Spirit of God.

And when you would draw from sound doctrine, I believe God's Spirit will not be profoundly on that church to the same degree, because you can have methods and mechanisms, get a charismatic speaker, you know, the light show and a great children's ministry. It looks like you're at the zoo, right? With all the stuff they have and great marketing, and the parking's incredible. You put it right where there's a few million people, you're going to have a big church.

But is God's Spirit really there? And this is why there is a huge divide right now. It's on this issue of sound doctrine. This huge divide right now.

And I grabbed a quote from a dad from X, formerly Twitter. I can't believe men don't care about their daughters when they voted on Tuesday. What planet are we? What do you mean? But what they mean is, what about if your daughter, like President Obama said, I don't want my daughter, I want her to be able to abort her mistake.

Remember that? Remember that language? And so that's the difference. Let me get, you know, a little controversial. We're trying to, the problem is premarital sex.

The problem is not wanting to be holy and honor the union of marriage between a man. That's the problem. So yeah, if you want to get rid of this mistake, I don't really like that person.

I just want to, you know, I want to be the master of my own ship, or captain of my own ship, the master of my own destiny. And I want to, I want to try it out and date people to see, and I want to be able to get rid of this mistake. And they're ticked off that there's actually people that say, Hey, this is not, this is not good.

This is not right. A biblical worldview, right? We're seeing kingdoms colliding. So it is hard as I'll admit, it's hard on the abortion issue because we know there's, it's a no brainer, right? But you're talking to a world that lives in sin and they, they, man, I have to have this thing.

If I get pregnant, who do you think you are? My body, my choice. Okay. But there's also another little body inside your body.

What about their choice? Biblical worldview makes it very challenging. And they act like, um, abortion is going to be eradicated next week and never happen again. And it's just, it's kingdoms are colliding.

And again, if we, if we say, I don't want to say what God says, you will not have the power of the Holy Spirit resting upon your life, especially from a pulpit. Can you imagine questioning what God said? I mean, I think it was, was it Thomas Jefferson? Have you heard of the Jefferson Bible? He cut out all the stuff that, that was the miraculous. I don't think all this happened.

Well, then why even have the Bible? Use it for firewood. Either it's fully true or it's not. And we know it's fully true.

And that's why you have to be careful. Like the watchtower society and the Jehovah witness will, you have to read that to understand the Bible. And there's so much air and what they try to do, their translation of the Bible.

Of course, Mormons, you know, they put the book of Mormon above. It's like, talk about two opposing views here that God was once like us and we'll be a God someday. Guys, that's, that's like, if I could say blasphemy any louder or that clear, why are you poking fun at people? I'm not.

I'm trying to tell them the truth because they're on the highway to hell. I would be a coward if I said nothing. I want people to like me.

I want, I don't want to walk around. There was that guy. He said this about Mormons.

Oh, we love Mormons, but do you have the truth? Jehovah witness. Do you have the truth? Christians who proclaim to be Christians, but don't have the fruit. I mean, I can go down Roman Catholicism.

Are you worshiping Mary? Are you trusting in indulgence? Are you waiting for purgatory to cleanse your sin? False, false, false. It's, it's, it's, it's sound doctrine that we need to get back to doctrine. Doctrine changes your worldview, but Christ changes your heart.

Isn't that true? Doctrine changes your worldview, but Christ changes your heart. You need both. Why? Because, uh, did you ever watch people like Ben Shapiro with the little, the Jewish hat on? Man, that guy's tons of information, but do you know he's not saved? Dennis Prager, anybody like his information? They have a biblical worldview that will agree with you on most points.

What's the difference? They don't know Christ. Christ changes your heart. And it's interesting.

You can see people have the truth, but they don't have Christ. Once they have Christ, now they have the truth with the right spirit, with the right heart. It's powerful.

It's incredible. So yes, doctrine will change your worldview. We want the right worldview, but only Christ changes your heart.

I think last week or two weeks, couple of weeks ago now with I left off where it said, and it shall be that everyone who calls upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. Remember, we're going through the book of Acts. Peter, the Holy Spirit came upon, came upon that prayer meeting.

And I think it felt something like we're in the heavens, other than, you know, lots of people speaking in tongues and different things, but they thought they were drunk because they were speaking in tongues. And Peter said, no, no, this is what the prophet Joel spoke about, that in the last days, God's going to pour out His Spirit on all flesh. And let me tell you, when God pours out His Spirit on you and you feel that you're going to upset carnal Christians, you're going to upset Pharisees.

Because when you're on fire for God and others aren't, they don't really appreciate you. Do they? They feel like we're better and they don't understand we're not actually, we're more broken. We need that fullness of the Spirit.

I need that. It's not really a position of arrogance. It's actually a position of humility.

God, fill me and do what you want to do with me. And it shall be that everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved. That's pretty narrow.

There's no other way. And for the Jews of that day, it was hard to understand. You can't just say Jesus, repent and believe.

Paul actually, actually it was Peter who walked them through the Scriptures. Listen, this is what the Scriptures say, sound doctrine about the Messiah's birth. Here's what the Scriptures say about His death.

Even David said he will not see a soul in corruption and be in the grave. He will raise from the dead. So Peter pointed out all the different places of sound doctrine and kind of backed them into a pickle because he made it clear to them, listen, this is the Messiah that you killed.

Here it is in Scripture. Because they were waiting for, they would take some Scripture but not all, they were waiting for the Jesus of Revelation, even though Revelation wasn't written yet. That He will come back, right, with the armies of heaven, eyes like flames of fire.

On His head are many crowns and on His right thigh is written King of kings and Lord of lords. Out of His mouth goes the sharp sword and He's going to tread the wine press and the fearlessness and the wrath of Almighty God. They were waiting for that Messiah, not some guy dying on a cross suspended between heaven and earth.

The curse of tree is for me. So he showed them the Scriptures all about the resurrection, the ascension, and then finally they said, what must we do to be saved? I mean, just imagine for a minute, the light goes on, you realized, you rejected the Messiah and you said, give us Barabbas, away with this man, kill this man, crucify this blasphemer. When the light comes on, I bet there's a lot of tears.

So once the truths of Scriptures were revealed, they were convicted. The Bible actually says they were cut. They realized that death was forced to release Jesus.

Death was forced to release Jesus. Death had no hold. Death had hold on every single person that ever lived, but on Jesus it had no hold.

And then that's where we pick up in Acts 2.40, a vital church grows. And with many other things, many other words, Peter testified and exhorted them saying, be saved from this perverse generation. These were not seeker-sensitive sermons in the Bible.

I don't know if you've determined that yet, but John the Baptist, Jesus, Peter, Paul, then those who gladly received his word were baptized. And that day about 3,000 were added to the church. 3,000 new believers when God moves.

And then they continued steadfastly in the apostles' doctrine. So once they're saved, they had to have doctrine, because doctrine is your stability. It's how we live our lives.

And they actually read the doctrine from the eyewitness accounts. Remember the Bible is still being written, at least the New Testament. The Old Testament was available in Hebrew, and they had the scrolls, and they would go, and they would listen.

But the New Testament wasn't yet written, so the eyewitness accounts were important. That's why James was able to write some of the Bible, and Paul, who Jesus revealed himself to, and Peter, and Matthew, Mark, Luke, John. They allowed these eyewitnesses who spoke with Jesus, walked with Jesus, they walked in their doctrine, and in fellowship, and in the breaking of bread, they would come together, they would remember the blood that was broken, and the body that was beat for their sins.

And that's how the early church formed. And so when people say, well, this is how church should be, this is how church should be, home groups are the only way, you can't have a big church over, you know, this would be considered a large church, and that's too big, I hear this, you know, it's too big, you can't minister to people, like, well, why don't we just trust what God is doing? All we know about the Bible is they came together, they broke bread, they're in fellowship, they obeyed the apostles' teachings, and God grew the church in many different ways. And then I love this part, then fear came upon every soul, and many wonders and signs were done through the apostles.

We'll talk a little bit more about that next Sunday. But think about this, and with many other words, he testified and exhorted them, be saved from this perverse generation. What is perverse? You ever hear the word pervert? Okay, all it means is you're taking something straight, let's say I take this, and somehow I bend this neck, I perverted it, I bent it out of shape of what it was intended to be used for.

So when we pervert doctrine, we twist it, and we manipulate it, and change it. It's deviating from what is considered right, good, or proper. It can also mean stubborn and opposing what is right.

So he just called out this entire generation. It'd be like me, really equivalent to me saying, hey, if you're not a believer, you're perverted. And that's kind of true if you break it down.

If you don't have God's Word, and you're not living by God's Word, you're living a perverted direction. You're off the narrow path. You've twisted what is designed the way something is to be designed and used correctly.

That's why when they say sexual perversion, you're perverting what God designed. And when we fail to confront, we confirm. When we fail to confront, we confirm.

And Peter confronted. As we go through the Bible, you'll see they confront. That's what I love about the Bible, is it confronts in love with the goal being restoration.

Did you know the Bible, I can't think of too many instances where it confronts, like God even confronted through the prophets in the Old Testament. The goal was never a confrontation where what we see today, you confront, you're a loser, I hate you. It was always confronting to restore.

Even in church discipline, right, you hear Matthew 18, church discipline. The purpose is actually to confront someone, to restore them back to fellowship. Correct? The goal is not get out of here, we hate you.

I can't believe you. The goal is to say, biblically speaking, we have to confront. And the goal, you might be upset initially, but the goal is restoration.

And I wish I could tell you there's a high success rate. It's not, is it? I don't know if this number's off too far, but 90, I want to say 99, but I'll be a little generous here. 95% of the time, people do not take it well.

They do. Do you like confrontation? No. It's sad because God says, here's a mechanism for you to grow in your spiritual walk and actually have a stronger relationship with people than you've ever had before.

If you humble yourself, there's going to be great fruit. It's restoration. But so many times people do not go in the right direction.

What do we do? We tense up. That's what pride is. It's tensed up.

We fail to confront, though we confirm. And that's a thing many churches struggle with because who wants to confront? Don't you want a nice couple months of just relaxing? Can't we all just get along? And so many times you just don't want to confront. You don't want to.

And I like to tell you that well, majority of the time things fix themselves. The opposite. When you allow a little cancer to grow without plucking it out, what does it do? It grows.

And it affects more and more and more people. And that's why when we fail to confront, we confirm. And this whole issue of doctrine, you'll see right now again in our nation, the Bible calls it out, and every man was doing what was right in his own eyes.

I finally figured, I'm like looking at all these things on social media, it's like why are these people so, they think like Trump's the antichrist and all these policies, it's like they're gonna, we're moving into wherever they're moving to. I don't know, they're just frozen in fear. I'm like what? Oh, you can't do what you want anymore as far as morality is concerned.

Yeah, we're gonna call child molesters out. We're gonna call the LGBTQ drag queens out. We're gonna, we love, we love.

But see, what about loving? I love the little kids too, to call out the, see you have love addresses all types, love will convict all types of people. What about love your neighbor? I got that a lot. Shane, you're for this and the borders and stuff.

What about love your neighbor? Oh, that's my personal responsibility. That's not the government's job, sweetie. Read Romans 13.

See, they don't have a biblical worldview. They don't have a biblical worldview. And when you don't have a biblical worldview, Nike slogan sounds good.

If it feels good, just do it. Every man doing what is right in his own eyes. So when you try to restrain the evil, they don't like it.

They do not like it. I mean, I'm just telling you guys the truth. Then those who gladly received, this is so important.

Those who gladly received Peter's word were baptized. And that day 3000 were added to the church. Those who gladly received the word will also gladly want to be baptized.

Okay, as a pastor, I see this sometimes. I don't quite understand it, but I'm flexible. People come to know the Lord and okay, I'm saved.

Now let's get baptized. Not ready for that. Not ready for that.

I still have Vegas next month. I'm kind of dating this little holy hottie. Not right now, Shane.

Well, what exactly did you do? Get out of hell free and then you'll do this later. And I want to have some grace there because maybe it's challenging sometimes because there's some people progress quicker. I've had people in like, does that mean I have to give up my marijuana? I mean, it's like let God convict you, but that's a good step in the right direction because you're opening demonic doors and things like that.

And so there's some grace there, but you should want to be baptized. There's a desire for that. Gladly receive the word of God.

Gladly receive it. And there's a lot of people sometimes that don't, they're not too happy about the word of God. I guess I'll become a Christian.

I guess you might want to wait a minute till you get some excitement in your heart to be glad about things. And shouldn't we be the most thankful people on the face of the earth? The most thankful people on the face of the earth. And they continued steadfastly.

What is that word? Unwavering, loyal. They were faithful. And the Bible, I believe it is strategic in how it words things.

It's encouragement to us. They continued steadfastly. And I was thinking just this morning that song, it is well with my soul.

What about when it's not well with your soul? Shouldn't we keep singing it? Remember when I went over and ran the heavens? You don't let your flesh and feelings tell you what to do. So continuing steadfastly often means you don't feel like doing what you're doing. Actually, I wouldn't have to say that if it would come naturally.

Disunity comes naturally. Unity comes supernaturally. Truly loving does not come naturally.

It comes supernaturally. So you do have to walk out your Christian faith continually, steadfastly, because sometimes we'll make the right decision. Okay, Lord, I make the right decision.

If I don't see some changes soon, I'm not going to keep doing this. No, you have to continue. Continue.

And I know it's tough. For a decade, I probably played that game. But I finally realized, you know what, Lord, though You slay me yet, I trust You.

You're good. I just heard this on the radio network. The two anchors the other day, Saturday maybe.

You're good and You're sovereignty. Those are the two anchors that hold my vessel in the storm. And you don't play games with God then anymore.

Because you realize, He's got this. I don't. Poor doctrine that you're going to, you're seeing a lot of churches.

Poor doctrine is like saying two plus two is four, but sometimes it's five. Can you imagine teaching your kids that? Or your grandkids? Well, two plus two is four, okay, but sometimes it might be five. Okay, so when is that sometimes? Well, whenever you feel like it needs to be a five.

But that's exactly what we're doing with God's Word, which I submit to you is way more destructive than numbers. Always remember the absence of evidence is not evidence of absence. People say, well, the Bible doesn't say this, or I don't know about this.

Just because something is not clearly said, doesn't mean it's not okay. Because the Bible, all the principles, all the principles are there, but sometimes not every single issue is clear. For example, since I get pushed back here, and so do you sometimes, Jesus didn't say anything about homosexuality.

The Word. Oh boy, they got a good point, don't they? Well, if you follow that line of reasoning, He also didn't say anything about bestiality, necrophilia, pedophilia. He didn't say anything about any of those.

Why? He didn't have to. He said marriage is between a man and a woman, all that comes out is pornea. The word pornea, it's where we get the word pornography.

Any type of sexual activity outside of marriage between a man and a woman. He said it. But they want to look for loopholes.

Anytime you want to look for loopholes in the Bible, watch out, because you'll find them. Won't you? I don't know how personal, I've talked to people, you know, I wrote a book on addiction, and I've talked to people that have dealt with alcoholism, and they'll use Scripture on me. Their marriage is falling apart.

They're on their third recovery home. But Paul told Timothy to drink a little wine for his stomach. And didn't you know Jesus' first miracle was with wine? Buddy, you are so lost.

You are so lost. Because we're finding a loophole. A loophole to continue in our disobedience.

And that's what also you're seeing a lot in our culture. It's only going to increase. I mean, I don't know if you recently, I don't know when it was now, a year ago.

Was it a year ago when Governor Newsom put up billboards quoting Jesus' word supporting abortion? Was it like, love your neighbor, come to California? It's like, oh man, there's no fear of God in this place. They're using Scripture, calling good evil. They're actually calling good evil and evil good.

The desperate need for sound doctrine. Sound doctrine dilutes the world's influence. That's why there's a huge thing going on.

Kingdoms are colliding. Those of you, you know, you've embraced sound doctrine, you love sound doctrine, you're not perfect, but that's your standard. The world's influence, what the world's promoting is just, it makes you sick.

And you can't go back. You can't, well, let me compromise a little. Because God's word doesn't compromise.

It sets a standard. It is not one of many standards. And so you have the word's influence, but the world has the world's influence.

And he who loves the world does not have the love of the Father in him. So breathe easier, sleep well at night. This is a spiritual battle.

This is a spiritual battle. We have to pray for hearts to change. We have to lead people to the cross.

I know it's hard, but you can't, you're not going to tell a liberal at Berkeley what you believe is the right view, because they hate your view. Every man doing what's right in their own eyes. And it's, we see this huge key.

I mean, I was just, whether you're politically, I don't know, but I was just so encouraged Tuesday, just all the red in California, all the, I'm not talking about politics. I'm not talking Republican. I'm just, I'm just happy people were saying enough is enough.

Enough is enough. That's, that's what it said to me. That's what it said to me.

Enough is enough. Let's say the person we elected is not the right person. He's got character.

Let's say that. Okay. At least people want some change.

At least they're not okay with, with how can you keep a straight face and say a girl can be a guy or a guy can be a girl. And let's put a tampon, Tim walls, put tampons in the men's room. And what the twilight zone ended in the 1950s guys, stop putting me through the twilight zone.

Every man doing what is right. And the P I, I, if I could talk to them, one, I guarantee they don't believe half of what they promote, but they have to tell people what they want to hear. And that's a false belief system based on lies.

Sound doctrine, sound doctrine dilutes the world's influence. Why do you think they don't want prayer in school? Have you ever thought about that? It was in Tehachapi. I think it's been down here.

I've been seeing more, the satanic afterschool program. Like why do you have no problem? I can't. Okay.

You don't like why do you know? I have a problem with that too. At least be consistent. Nope.

That's okay. My body, my choice. That's okay.

Every man doing what's right in his own eyes. At least you're not trying to get me in between these, these guardrails of morality. That's why they don't care about those things.

I mean, what do you, am I, am I kind of off here, but okay. You're against the Bible in schools. Wouldn't you, wouldn't you kind of be against Satan in schools too? I don't know.

My goodness. Like do I, am I even talking about these things? Sound doctrine dilutes the world's influence, but his delight is in the law of the Lord. And in his law, he meditates day and night.

Finally, brethren meditate on these things. Guys, you want your life to improve? Meditate on the things of God. Philippians actually, I took some of it out.

Finally, brethren, whatever things are pure, honest, noble, right. Boy, that's going to really mess up my voodoo and Amazon prime and Netflix choices. I think about whatever things are pure.

There goes reacher. There goes breaking bad. There goes the new Amazon prime.

There goes Yellowstone. You know, somebody recommended that to me, like whenever it came out and like five minutes into I'm like, no, this, what, what? Like I'm thinking fly fishing, Yellowstone, nice. You know, remember Michael Landon, Little House on the Prairie? What? Sound doctrine dilutes the world's influence.

You can't have, that's why Holly, Hollywood hates the world's influence. I'm sorry, the Bible's influence. And be encouraged.

It takes time to renew the mind. It takes time to renew the mind. And I don't quite understand it.

And I've talked about it, neuroplasticity and things like that. And brain, you know, brain, how the brain develops and adapts. And Dr. Huberman, it sounds like he's coming to faith.

Finally, kind of talks about this too. One of the most popular podcasts out there, but somehow renewing, be not conformed to this world, but be renewed, but renew your mind by the word of God. And it's a process.

And I think sometimes, especially maybe young adults, they forget, okay, you did it this week, but be careful because next week, the enemy might try to draw you back. So it's always a battle for the mind. You've got to stay, keep your thoughts captive on Christ.

Stay in the word, meditate day and night. If you're, if you're saying, you know what, I've already know what the Bible says. I've read it like, read it like 10 times.

Oh, I pray for you. Cause you've got it. I don't, I just try taking a shower once every year.

Why spiritually, how much more spiritually, how much more. And some of us, can you still hear the call of the world? Some of you and you choose, let's be honest. Shane, when I came to be a believer, my old, all my past was gone.

Really? How do you, how do you do that one? How do you, because that's the, the enemy is always looking for opportune times and he'll bring you back to where he once had you. You guys remember, I talk about this often. I still have, even I, I still have heavy metal lyrics in my head.

Ozzy Osbourne, right? Crazy train. Metallica, ACDC, Ronnie James, Dio. And the last in line is a heaven or divine.

It's like, I want these out. You don't listen to it or they'll come back in, but they're, and I've talked to you about, and then I love country. What's wrong with country? Well, I started thinking I was a rodeo rider, buying the hat, Amarillo by morning up from San Antone.

Everything that I got is everything I got on. I hope that judge ain't blind when they pull that gate. I'll be looking for eight when they pull that gate.

Eight seconds, right? Right in the, right in the, like where, where, what's going on here? Sad, depressing, the pull of the world. And then I, I don't know if I should tell you guys this, but I also liked to rap back then a little bit. Pastor Abram doesn't know this.

You might have to tell him something called Def Roe Records, Snoop Dogg, Dogg, Tupac, all those guys. And a guy, a guy came out right when I was coming back to Lord, thank God, named Eminem with a real slim, shady, please stand up. Right.

And so I've, I've got all of this. You guys don't know. I can, man, there's just got, there's a fight here.

Kids don't look any of that up. Just trust me. Just trust me.

Right. But that's the battle for the mind. That's the battle.

That's why I preach with passion, guys and kids. That's why I preach with passion. I've, I've, I've looked over the abyss and I've seen the flames.

I've seen it. So many of you, you, you, you, you've been so, you've been so close to hell. Your, your clothes still smell, smell like smoke and you've seen it.

So you try to, you try to warn. So when parents or others tell you, protect your mind, trust them. We're trying to prevent a world of hurt, a decade of pain and a lifetime of regrets.

I'll close with this verse. Then fear came upon every soul. Oh, I love the fear of God.

And I've had people. How can you love a God? Do you have to fear him? Well, you fear the right. You fear Republicans.

You fear independence or you fear them. You, you fear all, you fear flying. Those are unfounded, but fearing God is founded in truth.

What does fearing God do? It corrects my course. It stabilizes my faith. It anchors my soul.

This verse is amazing to me. I wanted to share it with you. The father judges no one.

We all think about God as the judge, but did you know, could it be that the father has committed all judgment to the son? That's why A. W. Tozer said, I love Christ. And I fear him. I love him because my savior, but I fear him because he's my judge.

I mean, unless you think the scripture means something else, but the irony is the Jews had an officer in the Sanhedrin, whom they call Abeddon or the father of the house of judgment. There was somebody, there's a religious leader who would cast down judgment in the synagogue and Jesus saying the father judges no one, but he's committed all judgment to the son. I mean, doesn't that just kind of blow your mind to really think about the Jesus Christ is going to judge you? Shane, I don't, I don't really, you got one verse.

Did you know when you face him, you either, here, well done now, good and faithful servant, or depart from me. I don't know you. I mean, that sometimes still gives me chills.

All these cocky people. Can you imagine? You're not going to be able to do anything when you stand there in the finality of depart from me. I don't know you.

Wouldn't that make you pray for your kids more or your grandkids or your spouse or family members? You're actually going to hear Jesus. Some are going to hear Jesus say, I can't even picture that moment. What's his voice going to sound like? Can you, are you still able to have emotions from the human body that like crying or weeping departs into eternal damnation, internal darkness? I don't know you.

I think it's what, Matthew seven. Many will come to me in that day and say, Lord, Lord, we did all these things in your name. So depart from me.

I don't know you. Now that's pretty interesting. There are people doing things in Jesus name.

And remember, he knows everyone. This is not intellectual knowledge. He knows them.

He doesn't know them intimately with relationship. You've never repented and believed in me and know me as your savior. You've never done that.

So you must depart from me. Unbelievable. Unbelievable.

Maybe somebody needs to hear this later, but, or this morning when Peter preached that and he said that the Bible says they're cut to the heart. Basically, they came to themselves. They woke up, they returned with all their hearts.

And I'm sure others said, there's a marked difference in these people. And I want to encourage some of you. Is there a marked difference in your life? If you're truly repenting it, do your kids say there's something different about dad? There's something.

Does your wife say, or your wife or your husband say there's something different there? There's a difference there because if there's not a marked difference, you have not been marked by the savior keeping on this theme for my past. Did you know, how many of you knew this? David, let me know if you knew. Do you know that Ozzy Osbourne went to church and cried his eyes out? How many of you know that? Wailing, crying in church.

Wait a minute. This makes no sense. Remember you can, you can have sorrow, but not repentance.

A guy by the name of Randy Rhodes, headline guitarist for Ozzy Osbourne, died in a plane crash and he made his way to that church across the field from that crash and cried and cried and sobbed because of a man was dead. Not for a savior. Many people weep for the wrong things.

Don't they? Let me just testify for a like the lady at the well, my thirst can never be satisfied by an earthly stream. You guys have to be able to say that to the lady caught at the well when Jesus said, give me this water. The lady said, give me this water that I may thirst again.

You too must say, give me this living water that I may never thirst again. And guys this morning, we need thankfulness. We need thankfulness.

He took our place on the cursed tree. Get that spirit of thankfulness back in your heart. Get that joy back in your heart.

Don't walk around like defeated Danny or destitute Debbie. Wake up. Wake up.

Be thankful. Yes, life can be difficult. Life can be challenging, but wake up.

Praise God for what he's done in your life. Praise God for what he's done. I think I, if they were able to add it after my message, this song is so incredible.

Just a quick lyric. What he's done is the title of it. See on the heel on Calvary, my savior bled for me.

My Jesus set me free. Look at the wounds that give me life. Grace flowing from his side.

No greater sacrifice. What he's done. What he's done.

All the glory and the honor to the son. Thankfulness. Thankfulness.

Come on guys. Get it. Get it.

Get a little excited about what has got where's the thankfulness in your heart. Think about it. You know that accident should have killed you.

You know that marriage should have destroyed you. You know that addiction should have wrecked you. You know that disease should have damaged you and took you down.

You know the prodigal son that he should have devastated your faith. That situation should have discouraged you, but here you still stand. Here you still stand this morning.

Isn't that true for the Christian? Here you still stand. Broken, marred, damaged. You think I should be up here pastoring and preaching God's word for everything I've went through? I should be limping and barely getting into heaven and so there should be some thankfulness.

Here we still stand. That's why the Bible says, having done all, just stand. Stand what? Stand therefore with their loins girt about with sound doctrine, with the truth of God's word.

Oh what he's done. Guys, you got to get the pull of the world out of your mind. Think about what he's done.

How many of you can say, I was blind, but now I see. How many of you can say, my son who is dead is still alive forevermore. Thankfulness for what he's done.

Break out of that defeatist mindset. Woe is me.
