Him who thinks he stands, take heed that he does not fall. Because the inference which could not be more clear in this whole passage is that God blessed them with spiritual gifts, and He has blessed New Covenant believers with spiritual gifts. But just because He blesses us with spiritual gifts does not mean we get a free pass. If anything, it means we are more culpable for what we have been given. And that was what was so upsetting to the Lord about the Jews in the wilderness, is He gave and He gave and He gave and He gave of Himself, and they would not obey Him. That's really what it boiled down to, they would not obey. And you really see that in Hebrews chapter 3 and 4.
