Seeing Everything From God's Point Of View (Tamil)

Zac Poonen · 59:26

Zac Poonen teaches that believers must renew their minds to see everything from God's perspective, leading to victory over worldly influences like anxiety, improper use of music, and materialism.
This sermon emphasizes the importance of renewing our minds to align with God's will, focusing on the need to transform our thinking to be like Christ's and to view everything from God's perspective. It addresses the dangers of conforming to the world, the significance of allowing the Holy Spirit to change our way of thinking, and the impact of music and worldly influences on our minds and spiritual life.

We were speaking about Babylon in the last session. We can say Babylon refers to a worldly church. A church that has not obeyed the command in Romans 12 verse 2. In Romans 12 verse 2 it says, don't be conformed to this world. But be transformed, that is into the likeness of Christ, by the renewing of your mind. So that you can prove what is God's perfect will for your life. And what is God's perfect plan for the New Testament church. To understand God's perfect will, there is a requirement. First of all, we must present our body verse 1 completely to God. Like I said, our mouth and our eyes and everything. I don't judge according to what my eyes see or hears hear. It goes on from there that my mind must stop thinking like the world and start thinking like God. There is a paraphrase of the Bible. One of the first paraphrases of the New Testament was written by a man called J.B.Phillips. J.B.Phillips. And this was long before the Living Bible and all came. I will never forget the way he paraphrased Colossians 1 verse 9. He said that my prayer is that you may look at things from God's viewpoint. You know when it says we are raised up to be seated with Christ in the heavenly places, Ephesians 2 verse 6. Then in our mind we are there even though our body is here. Our spirit is there. And if we allow the Holy Spirit to change our mind, we will look at everything on earth from heaven's viewpoint. That is the secret of rejoicing always. That is the secret of being free from anxiety. Because in heaven they rejoice always. In heaven they are not anxious about anything no matter what happens on this earth. They know that Satan has been defeated. They know that Satan has been defeated. When we learn to look at our mind from God's viewpoint, we will be free from worrying. It should be our desire that every aspect of our thinking which has been worldly from our childhood is now transformed to God's way of thinking. We must look at money the way God looks at money. We must look at pretty women the way God looks at pretty women. We must look at souls to be saved. God looks at people very different from the way we look. A lot of your problems with dirty thoughts will disappear if you allow the Holy Spirit to change your way of thinking. The trouble is that we don't want God to change our way of thinking but we want to have victory in our thought life. That is impossible. Here is the answer. Allow your mind to be transformed, renewed to think like God. And that comes through reading God's word, meditating on it and allowing the Holy Spirit to put that into our mind. Then we won't be afraid of the devil anymore because we know he has been defeated. See in heaven God can see the end already. What is written in Revelation 20 that the devil is cast into the lake of fire, God already sees it. When I allow God to change my way of thinking, I see that already. It has happened. I am not afraid of the devil anymore. I don't believe he can do anything to harm me because God makes everything work for good. This is a very important secret of our personal life, family life and church life. When things go wrong in your life, just try to look at it from God's viewpoint and see what he thinks about it. When you lose money, see what God thinks about it. When you commit a sin, see what God thinks about it. When things go wrong in your home, see what God thinks about it. When there is sickness in your home, try and look at it from God's viewpoint. Try and look at the sickness in your family from God's viewpoint. Is God panicking? Is he panicking because he is sick? When the Holy Spirit gives us a place to change our way of thinking, what a big change will happen. Otherwise we look at these commands like rejoice always and be anxious for nothing and say, that is impossible in this world. If your way of thinking is like the way of thinking of the world, I agree, it is impossible. If your way of thinking is like the way of thinking of the world, I agree, it is impossible. Those who have obeyed Romans 12 and been filled with the Holy Spirit, they can handle situations. Like it says in the Old Testament, nothing will move them. I love this verse, it is a great favorite of mine. Psalm 112 Psalm 112, the blessed is the man who fears the Lord, verse 1. Verse 6 and 7 especially. He will never be shaken. Verse 7 He will not fear bad news. His heart is steadfast, trusting in the Lord. He will not fear, verse 8. Boy, what a way to live. Get our thinking like God thinks. So, coming to Romans chapter 12. If our mind is renewed to think like that, then we will know how God looks at everything that is happening around us as we seek to build His church. We want to handle money the way Jesus handled money. And we don't want to depend on money rather than the Holy Spirit, because Jesus didn't depend on money, He depended on the Holy Spirit. Now, I told you the other thing in Babylon is music. In Revelation 18, there is a big description of Babylon. It speaks of all this merchandise and all that first. Then it says in verse 22 about the sound of musicians. Now, music is a tremendous gift of God. But that doesn't mean the devil has not abused it. I'll give you another example. The sexual function was not created by the devil, it was created by God before sin came into the world in Genesis chapter 1. In Genesis 1, who created it? God. Who has abused it? The devil. Even the minds of many Christians is polluted by the devil's view of sex. In fact, my conviction is that 99% of people in the world have got the wrong idea of sex. Possibly many of you sitting here as well. You are born again, but your view of sex is the devil's view. Because your mind has been polluted by pornography, television, movies, so many things. And it's quite a job to clean it all out. But that's a major area where we have to look at things from God's viewpoint. Same thing with music. Just like sex, music is a gift of God. But 99% of the music in the world has been polluted by the devil. Including a lot of music in the so called Christian church. Where people are more interested in shaking their hips and tapping their feet than worshipping God. It's perfectly alright to tap your feet and clap your hands and raise your hands. But don't let your body take over your mind. It happens in many singing meetings in the church. Where the body is in control. And the mind is maybe thinking of something else, but we are clapping, we are singing, and we have sang that song 100 times, so we know the words, we don't even think about it. How do I know this? Because I have done it myself. That's how I know. And I have stopped myself from saying, what did I say just now to God? I liked the tune and I was clapping and I completely forgot about what I was saying to almighty God. Imagine going before the ruler of your country and just saying something which you don't even know what you are saying. There is tremendous danger in music. If it is not kept under the control of the Holy Spirit. And the so called rock music that is in the world today. Look at those musicians. All these people who do that. Look at the covers of their CDs. There is a very close association between rock music and demons and drugs, harmful drugs. And when foolish Christians say, let's bring rock into the church and put Christian words to it to attract the young people. See these are people who don't believe in the power of the Holy Spirit. Did the Apostle Peter say on the day of Pentecost, let's get some musicians here and really work people's emotions up, then we will preach the gospel. Is that how he brought 3000 Jews to Christ that day? And this technique they have nowadays. Even when somebody is praying, the organ has to play something to make people move emotionally while the person is praying to God. Do you think in the upper room when they were praying for the Holy Spirit that somebody was playing an organ just to get everybody in the right mood? Why don't you see these things? Because today's generation does not know the real power of the Holy Spirit. The Bible says in the last days, Daniel 11.32 The Bible says in the last days, Daniel 11.32 People who know their God will be strong. The greatest need in our day is to know God. To know God's ways. Psalm 103 verse 7 The children of Israel could only see God's external action. But to Moses, God revealed his ways. Today most Christians, 99% of them just see God's actions on the outside. The leaders are also like that. We need a generation of leaders who know God's ways. I urge you brothers and sisters. You young people, get on your face before God and say, Lord teach me your ways. And then you will see that a lot of music in Christendom today has gone the way of the world. When I was reading about the fall of the devil in Ezekiel 28 When I was reading about the fall of the devil in Ezekiel 28 We see how the devil fell from verse 13. When Ezekiel 28.12 starts, he was an anointed angel. In verse 14, he was an anointed angel. In verse 13, he was in the garden of Eden. In Genesis 1 verse 2, Eden was destroyed. In Genesis 1 verse 2, God created Eden again. But this is the original Eden. The Satan, the perfect angel was there. There are many things to describe him. He says all the workmanship, etc. Pictured in picture languages, precious stones, etc. Verse 13 Towards the end it says, the workmanship of your tambourines and flutes. That's how it is in the King James Version. I looked up the Hebrew word for this. I looked up the Hebrew word for this. The correct word is tambourine. Satan had the talent to play music. It's all picture language. It's trying to say that Satan had tremendous musical ability. That's the message here. But he has abused it. Just like he abused all the other gifts God gave him. When a preacher, God gives him a gift and he uses that gift to make money. He is abusing God's gift. When he uses that gift in order to rule over people, he is abusing God's gift. So, we need to be careful about music in the Christian Church. I want to tell all of you. If you enjoy the drums and the organs and this and that and the other, more than real the words of worship you are singing to God on Sunday, you have already gone astray. Our church in Bangalore started in my home. For six years we met in my home. We were just about four families I think when we started and even after six years we were about 60 people. Including children. And we never had a musical instrument because none of us knew how to play it. We had three meetings a week, no musical instruments. I said, brother how can you have a spiritual meeting without musical instruments? It's like the early church had. That's all. We discovered one thing in those days. You don't need musical instruments to build the body of Christ. If you have it, good. Keep it as a servant. Money, keep it as a servant. You know the difference between a servant and a master in the house? Money must be a servant. Don't let it take over the house. There's a saying that fire is a good servant but a bad master. That means if you keep the fire on the stove where you cook the food, that's okay. Control it. That knob must be under your control. You turn up the flame or turn it down. What does it mean for fire to be the master? Where it's uncontrolled and it burns the whole house. When money is a servant which is under your control, you better stay there. You're not going to control me. I know how to turn it off. I know how to turn it to medium. And I use it for a purpose. Just like fire. If you can't control it like that, it will burn up your life, burn up your house. I've seen so much abuse of money even in Christian world. People are very careful when it comes to their own money. When it comes to church money, let's spend it. In a hundred years, God will not anoint such people. God will anoint people who treat God's money more carefully than their own money. And I'll tell you in my lifetime, I've seen very very few servants of God like that. Very few. Those are the ones I respect very highly. Most people are so careless with God's money, church money. They just lavishly spend. Who's going to spend for it? Ah, the church money. And I listen to these brothers speak. Boring. Because they are not faithful. Keep money under control, make it your servant. The same thing with music. A good servant, but a bad master. There are many churches like the fire burns up the house, the music has taken over. I have never never never wanted anybody to be drawn to our church in Bangalore by the music. I don't want them to be drawn by the music. I don't want them to be drawn because of the buildings. I say people must be drawn to the church because they want to be godly, because they hear a message that will lead them to godliness. Satan, before he became the devil, had musical abilities. Instead of using it to glorify God, he's used it to lead people away from God. Where do we read the music in the human race first of all? See Genesis chapter 4. Cain was the first person cursed by God. You read there in Genesis 4.11, the Lord told him, you are cursed. God never cursed Adam, he cursed the ground in Genesis 3. Did you know that? That Adam and Eve were not cursed. Genesis 3.17, God cursed the ground. The first person to be cursed was Cain. Genesis 4.11 And the Lord said to Cain, from now on, verse 12, you will be a wanderer on the earth. You will just drift along, you will never have any fellowship. Every brother and sister who drifts without fellowship is walking the way of Cain. When God blesses you, you will have fellowship. I don't mean you will belong to a church. There are a lot of people who sit in a church who have no fellowship. I don't mean you will belong to a church. There are a lot of people who sit in a church who have no fellowship. There are many elders who don't have fellowship with each other. They are alone people wandering by themselves just like Cain. And they don't even realize it. Do you know why? Because they are proud like Cain. I feel sorry for them. When the Lord says, you are going to be a wanderer all alone. You think you will have a ministry. It's all nonsense. And Cain produced children. And one of his children was the first one who married two wives. One of his children. We read in verse 23 about verse 19. Lamech took to himself two wives. And then we read in verse 21. One of the descendants of Cain. Jubal. He was the father of those who play the lyre and the pipe. Music developed in the human race when God cursed a man and he wandered away from God. His descendants started playing musical instruments. For what? Do you think they were glorifying God? Not at all. They were singing music for their adulterous feasts. You see in Genesis chapter 32 when they made a golden calf. There was such a lot of music and dancing and all that. Now remember, I am not against music. I believe in using it. I love singing. Worship hymns to my God. Many times when I am alone by myself. I love singing songs to God. I love music. But not worldly music. Not the music taught by the sons of Cain. But worship songs to God. Where the instruments are not the main thing but the words are the main thing. In your church, if the instruments are more important than the words, you have already gone the way of Cain and Lucifer. You know it says in the Bible that after the last supper before they went to Gethsemane, Jesus joined the others and sang a hymn. Jesus sang a hymn. I would have liked to be there to listen to how Jesus sang a hymn. I would have liked to be there to listen to how Jesus sang a hymn. Lord, I want to sing all my life the way you sang that night. I don't think he was taken up with the tune when he was singing. I think he was taken up with the words. He was going to the cross in another 12 hours. I said Lord, I want to sing like that. I want to be a man of God. I want to follow you the way you live, the way you sing. In Hebrews chapter 2, it speaks about Jesus. Verse 11, the last part. He is not ashamed to call us brothers. He is my elder brother. What does he do as my elder brother? Verse 12, the last part. In the midst of the church, he sings the praise of the Father. So when I sing in the church, I think of Jesus as the song leader. According to Hebrews 2.12. He is the song leader. Leading the church in praise to the Father. All of you who lead songs in your churches, follow this example. If Jesus were here, how would he lead the church in praise to the Father? Make him your forerunner. Your example. He would depend on the Holy Spirit. See what Paul says in 1 Corinthians 14. 1 Corinthians 14 is speaking about the church meeting. See how he says in verse 15, the last part. I will sing with my spirit and I will sing with my mind. If the instruments are there, praise the Lord. If the instruments are not there, praise the Lord. I can always have my spirit and my mind. That is the most important thing. I shall sing with my spirit and I shall think about the words I am singing. What about the instruments? They shall be servants to help me to sing with my spirit and my mind. This is New Testament type of singing. There are so many things like this that have come and taken the place of the Holy Spirit in the church. Paul said to the Corinthians in 2 Corinthians 11. Verse 2. I am jealous for you with a godly jealousy. I feel like that many times when I think of the churches God has given me responsibility for. I said to the Corinthians, I want to present them as a pure virgin to Christ. As a pure bride to Jerusalem. Not as the harlot Babylon. That is what Paul is saying. I don't want this church to be a Babylonian harlot. I want to present this to Christ as a pure virgin to be his bride. Now apply this to music. But I am afraid, lest as a servant who had experience with tambourines and flutes, deceives you that your mind will be led astray from your music from simple pure devotion to Jesus Christ. Let me give you an honest testimony. Even today when I sing about the cross where Jesus shed his blood for my sins there are tears in my eyes. Just like they were there 50 years ago. I cannot sing about Jesus dying for me without tears in my eyes. I am sorry, I cannot sing Jesus died for me and I am going to heaven. I can't sing like that. It's too sacred for me. It was a tremendous price he paid there for my sin. That's why one of my favorite songs is this. I stand amazed in the presence of Jesus the Nazarene and wonder how he could love me without tears. A sinner condemned uncleanly and in Gethsemane when he was praying he had no tears for his own grief but he had sweat drops of blood for my grief. I sing such songs when I am alone and when I sing them in the church it's almost as if nobody else is there but me and Jesus. I believe music is a wonderful gift. Music has helped me tremendously in my worship life in my private life. To worship my God and I will if instruments are there I will keep it as a servant. As far as I am concerned I will never let it take over my life. We have a generation of young people growing up in many of our churches. They were very good with their instruments. They don't know the ABC of worshipping God. What are the church elders doing? Very soon such a church will become like Babylon with the sound of the tambourines and the flutes and the drums and the worship of God has disappeared. Jesus will not be in such a church. We have to be very careful dear brothers and sisters. The Bible says in Galatians chapter 1 that Jesus gave himself for us. Two things are mentioned in verse 4. Read it very carefully because we must build a church on this foundation. Galatians 1 verse 4 He gave himself for our sins. Number one. We all know that. And he also gave himself that he might deliver us out of this present evil world system. That is the will of God our father itself. It's not only freedom from sin. He died so that the prince of this world will have no more power over my way of thinking. That the prince of this world will not determine what I have in my home and what I don't have. Jesus died so that the prince of the world will not control what program you watch on television in your home. Jesus died to deliver you from the subtle influence of movies that bring pollution into your mind right inside your home. In the olden days Christians would be ashamed to stand in a cinema queue where they could be seen by others. The devil says don't worry. I'll send it right into your home. You can sit there. You will not lose your testimony. I remember once I visited a brother's house. I knocked at the door. There was a light inside. He won't open the door. I said what happened? Knock, knock, knock. He was watching television. So he had to get a towel and put it over the television and all that before he opens the door. I'm not bothered if you have a television in your home. Television is like a library. You may have a library of books in your home. By the way, what you see on the computer internet is worse than television. It's not a question of library. It's a question of what type of books you have there. It's not a question of television. It's a question of what programs you watch on the television. It's not a question of whether you have a computer or not. It's a question of what do you watch on it. So, I don't say you shouldn't have a library. I say make sure what books you keep there. So I never say you shouldn't have a TV or a computer but I say be careful about what you watch on it. But if you have no control over your children over what they watch on television, then get rid of it. So, all these are ways by which the devil seeks to control us. The God of this world tries to control our mind. so many movies that are made these days. They'll put a few seconds of something filthy. And particularly in the minds of men. Five years later, you would have forgotten the entire story of that movie. But that ten seconds of filth, that'll remain in your mind. How did it get into your mind? You say it's only ten seconds, brother. The whole glass is full of milk, only one spoon of poison. That's all. The whole tumbler is full of milk, only two or three spoons of poison. Would you drink it? Only two or three spoons of poison. The whole tumbler is full of poison, isn't it? You can't watch all the sex movies. The whole tumbler is full of milk, only two or three spoons of poison. That's the devil's way. I have a godly jealousy that I may present you as a pure virgin to Christ. I believe that we need relaxation, we need different ways to relax our mind because it gets tired in the world in which we work. I think people who watch football and cricket are much better than these people who watch the movies. They find a relaxation there, that's fine. What am I trying to say? The mind is the battlefield today and the devil is trying to control your mind and make it conform to the world. Then you won't be able to hear God's word in your mind. If you don't understand God's way of thinking, you will not be able to build a church. Why is it that there is not much emphasis on the mind in the old testament? Because the Holy Spirit was only on the outside. They could not change people's mind. Let me show you a verse that really challenged me. 1 Corinthians 2 It says in verse 11 1 Corinthians 2.11 No one knows the thoughts of a man except the spirit of the man within him. You know that. Your thoughts nobody else can know except your own spirit. Even so, verse 11 the thoughts of God only the spirit of God knows. Do you like other people to know your thoughts? I mean you may share a little bit with your wife but you don't share all your thoughts even with your wife. Thoughts are very confidential secret for us. Here it says God has got thoughts. And the Holy Spirit knows all those thoughts like your spirit knows all your thoughts. Have you understood that? That's step one. The Holy Spirit knows all the thoughts of God. Now here is the wonderful good news the glorious gospel. The full gospel. This spirit, verse 12 God gives us we receive this Holy Spirit so that we can know these thoughts of God. I am so excited when I read that. That's what really makes me clap and jump. I can know the thoughts of God in my mind when I am filled with this Holy Spirit. That's why I want to be filled with the Holy Spirit. Not to heal the sick and make money but to know the thoughts of God. I know the things God has freely given me. Because when I know that verse 13 I can speak those things to other people and tell them what God has given us freely. So that I can not only share God's thoughts with them like it says in verse 13 but those spiritual thoughts can be communicated in spiritual words. Now see verse 16 the conclusion. Who has known the mind of the Lord? Here is the answer in the new covenant. The last part. We have the mind of Christ. Paul said that you can't say that unless you actually have it. If you allow your mind to be polluted by all the filth you see on the computer and television you won't have the mind of Christ. You will not know the will of God for your life or your family life or what answer to give to somebody who has a problem in your church or how to advise your children when they ask you for counsel. I wish I could convince the whole world about this that to be filled with the Holy Spirit is to be filled with the thoughts of God in our mind. I speak in tongues but I don't mind losing that gift if I can have the thoughts of God in my mind. That's more important to me. This is very important because it's the thoughts of God that can revolutionize my life. That's what will build the true church. Why do we find so much of conflict between brothers and sisters? Why do we have so many husbands and wives fighting with each other? Why do we have so many believers whose children are wayward and living for the world? Why do we have so many young sisters dressing in a worldly way uncovering, uncovering more and more of their bodies? They don't follow godly ways or godly sisters. They follow the film stars and the models in the way they dress. I don't believe worldliness is in a dress. Worldliness is in the mind. It is manifested in a thousand ways. One of the ways may be dress. So if you make a woman dress modestly you haven't stopped her from being worldly. You got to change your mind first. That's a foolish mistake that a lot of preachers have made. Get everybody to dress in a particular way, they won't be worldly then. It's not true. You got to change the mind. Worldliness is in the mind. Christ-likeness is in the mind. So this is where we have to work. And when we learn to think, have the thoughts of god, we can build a church according to the thoughts of god. See the old testament tabernacle was god revealing his thoughts to Moses when he went up to the mountain. We need to go to god and say lord give me your thoughts for building your church in these last days. And the lord says jesus died to deliver you from this evil world system. Jesus died to deliver me from this worldly way of thinking. The worldly attitude to money. The worldly attitude to sex. The worldly attitude to music. So that i can have a godly attitude to money. I am not a hermit sanyasi living in the forest. I live in a house in a city. I have got a family I bring up children. Jesus didn't live in the jungles like john the baptist. I am not a follower of john the baptist. I am a follower of jesus christ. He lived in a normal home and did a normal job as a carpenter to earn his living. When god called him to preach, he preached. So it's the way of thinking that jesus had that i want to have. The holy spirit has come to make me think like that. I don't know whether you are gripped by this. Jesus died to deliver us from that worldly way of thinking. Let me say this in closing. Do you know why the devil has so much power in your life and in your home and in your church? Listen carefully because he has so much power over your mind. The things you read, the things you see and watch and you allow the devil to get and influence your mind. So you think that some of the things i am saying about music and money and all are extreme teachings. Brother zach is old fashioned and extreme. That's exactly what the devil wants you to think. My brother, sister read the scriptures and see if what i am saying is from scripture or whether it's some old fashioned idea. Don't let the devil think that your modern 21st century type of music and dress and all that. Don't lose the precious gift which Jesus purchased for you on the cross. Not only forgiveness of sins but a mind that can think the thoughts of God. Hallelujah, i am excited with that. That i can think the thoughts of God. His thoughts are higher than my thoughts like heaven is from the earth. And therefore i find my way of thinking is very different from the way of thinking of so many people in the world and so many people in the church. Because they have not allowed their mind to be influenced by God's word. And they argue about the letter of the word because they don't have the holy spirit in their mind. This is part of the full gospel. The full full gospel will take many years to talk about. So, i hope these six morning sessions we have really learned something about the full gospel. Let's pray. Heavenly father, i thank you for this wonderful gospel. Thank you that it can change lives. It's the power of God into salvation. Salvation from your judgment. Salvation from sinful habits. Salvation from worldly way of thinking. Salvation from enslavement to money. Salvation from enslavement to worldly music. Salvation from enslavement to the devil. That we can live in the glorious liberty of the children of God. Thank you in Jesus name. Amen.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does it mean to see things from God's viewpoint?
It means renewing your mind through the Holy Spirit to understand situations as God does, leading to peace and godly decisions.
Why is music a concern in the church according to Zac Poonen?
Because music, though a gift from God, is often abused and can become a distraction or a tool of the enemy if not controlled by the Holy Spirit.
How should Christians handle money?
Money should be treated as a servant under our control, used wisely and faithfully, especially church funds, rather than being allowed to dominate or control us.
What is the danger of worldly thinking in a believer's life?
Worldly thinking leads to anxiety, improper desires, and spiritual defeat, whereas godly thinking brings peace and victory.
