διετία to get in the harvest ἕως δὲ τοῦ διέξοδον λαβεῖν τὴν κρίσιν μὴ θερίζειν αὐτούς. This rather supports Grimm’s view of Mt 229, ‘*the zssees of the streets,” z.e. where they lead out from the city into the country. Cf. Aristeas 105, where, as Thackeray (Trans. p. 23n.°) points out, the διέξοδοι, the main streets leading out of the city, and the 80801, crossstreets, seem to be distinguished. In Vettius Valens, p. 334'°, we have ἐγὼ δὲ τούτου φρουρίου ἐκκόψας τινὰ μέρη πυλῶν τοῖς βουλομένοις τὴν διέξοδον ἐμήνυσα πλέον. There is a curious derivative in P Brem 734 (af. Chrest. I. p. 277) (c. A.D. 117) περισσὸν ἡγοῦμαι διεξωδέστερον ὑμεῖν γράφειν, which Wilcken notes = διεξοδικώτερον, ““ ausftihrlicher. ἢ
